Rome isn't the importance. The seat of Peter has not always been in Rome and has moved More than a couple times throughout history.

From the New Testament perspective, the only candidates for the “great city” mentioned in Revelation are Rome and Jerusalem.
I belive Christ changed water into wine not grape juice :)
Good point. When I was a wandering Protestant, and trying to find a church to belong to, one of the worst things was to be given juice and (even) a piece of a cake at the communion.
But well, they didn't believe in the Real Presence.
At the wedding of Cana, they ran out of wine which was a disaster because wine was used to purify the water. So basically they had nothing to drink. But Jesus provided the finest wine.
Wine wasn’t nearly as alcoholic as wine nowadays.
@Patrick Montgomery Did you even think the lies you are promoting will put you into hell? St. Pio had been gifted with the stigmata or the Wounds and Suffering of Jesus Christ because without Jesus' Suffering and Death you would not have the gates of heaven open to you. It wasn't prosperity that saved you but Suffering. So, no matter how much you attack His Church, Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Praying you will see the truth, because there is only one truth.

This morning I went to the ordination of a Franciscan priest. The mass lasted about 2 hours and was nothing short of pure Wonder and beauty. It was held in beautiful Basilica and there were about 30 priest present. I had not been to an ordination in over 20 years.
It was quite amazing for me this time to recognize all the traditions and direct passages of scripture which were involved as well as the significance of the laying of the hands. You could truly see the methods and means of Apostolic succession the Apostles would have used almost 2000 years ago when the Arch Bishop was going through the ordination ritual.
All Christians should really try to experience this at some point in their life!
Christ never had a problem with alcohol remember during the wedding feast of Cana He created wine from water if He had a problem with alcohol He wouldn't had created wine from water. Again He used wine during the Lord's Supper during that time like most people Christ drank alcohol. But you are correct drunkenness is sinful as Scripture states but drinking in moderation is not sinful.

I am also sad that people are negative about Pope, priests or bishops. This people should read the Bible properly. They are authorities that God gives us. When we dont respect them, we dont respect God.

Your claim is a form of Modernism, where you think your vote is equal to everyone else's....OR SUPERIOR to everyone else's...leading you to an error of judgment. Go look up Fr. Ripperger's homilies on this. You don't know your place. God didn't make you pope, bishop, or even a priest. You know the Apostolic Succession comes straight from Jesus, right? He laid His hands on the Apostles when He anointed them, and ever since, every man who is ordained into Holy Orders is anointed with the Holy Spirit in a way that you can't even imagine, because you weren't given that gift. All you've got is the common priesthood of baptism. A spiritual authority over the pope you ain't.

He tried couple of times to kill David. He took away his wife and he killed the people who helped David. David had a terrible life because of Saul. But he calls him ,,Lord", he bowed down with his face to the man who wanted to kill him and took him everything, David could kill Saul twice but he did not do it. Why? Because Saul was Lord’s anointed and David respected him, not because Saul deserved it, but because God made him authority. And Saul was ,,just" a king :) Priests are people chosen by God. They are the hands of Jesus. No man chosen by God was/is perfect and they do mistakes but we respect them because God gives them authority. There are dozens of similar stories in the Bible. God said: ,,Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” The anger of the Lord burned against them, and he left them. When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous-it became as white as snow. Numeri 12, 8-10. Why God did this? Because they spoke against authority that He gave them. And God killed all who rebelled against Moses. And how we respect authorities that God gives us? This is not about interpretation,... John Bevere is protestant author and he wrote wonderful book about authorities called Under Cover. He said: ,,If we want to remain obedient to God and be blessed, we have but one choice when it comes to delegated authority: submission and obedience. We have the opportunity to honor and influence leaders through humility, obedience, and prayer. God is the One who brings judgment in due time. Our commanded role is to pray for those in leadership and to honor and submit to their authority." Only God can judge! God bless you all! † :)
What if the Priest committed sex abuse? What if the Bishop was teaching things against our beliefs? What if the Pope was abusing their position? I agree we should give them respect for their position, but I can understand why some people may be upset. We should support and Pray for them, but we shoudln't follow them blindly if they are doing something against God's Church
Lizzie when you were talking about prayer cards it reminds me of how annoying, yet comical it can be when I sometimes open up the missalette and 8+ prayer cards fall out because the senior daily mass-goers stick them in there...HA! Ha....someday when I retire I'll be THAT senior daily mass-goer who sticks prayer cards into the misselettes.

17 and 18 are my favorite! As a woman in my 30s who has never had a boyfriend, I've always thought about becoming a nun. I was discouraged in this decision by fellow family members, and friends. I strongly believe as a Christian that sex should only take place within marriage. At the same time if one doesn't desire to be married, celibacy lifelong should also be an option. I've also noticed that my desires to live solely for Christ without marriage, and lifelong chastity and celibacy are given the side eye in Protestantism but Widely accepted in Catholicism... Thank you for making this video
I COMPLETELY feel this too! Even though I am in a relationship right now, most of my life I've been single and LOVED being single. And it always annoyed me soooo much how in Protestant culture it was like you HAVE to get married and there's so much emphasis for us girls growing up on our "future husband" to the extent that it's almost sexist and explained as we need a man. So I LOVE how Catholicism respects the idea of being single and just staying devoted to God!

Sarah Ann Rushing - girl, I feel this way too. I'm married, but I converted from protestant faith and hated how much emphasis is put on marriage and singleness looked down on almost. The bible talks so much about the beauty of celbacy. If you feel called to be a nun, you go for it, girl! It's a beautiful life! My husband and I are encouraging our 3 daughters to pursue whatever vocation God calls them to, but my husband would be thrilled to death if they all became benedictine nuns. Lol.

There is no day like today! Lifelong celibacy outside of the convent is an option. It's called consecrated virginity. I encourage you to look into one or the other (or both) and do something about your desires. You will be so happy that you did.

I used to be protestant also, and I've been Catholic for about 5 or 6 years now, and I now think it's weird to not see Jesus on the cross in a protestant church because I've gotten so used (lack of better word) to it. lol
RELICS!!! I was part of a cross-country (Canada) tour of the incorruptible relic of St. Francis Xavier earlier this year. It was his right forearm that traveled from Rome and yeah it was WILD. When I first saw him I felt this strange peace, like I knew he was praying for me and all 75 000 people who would get to hang out with him. And he did healings, conversions, and missionary growth galore!
MrsFutureLaura My wife and I just saw St. Pio of Pietrelcina's relics last week. Thousands of people streamed through the cathedral in Wichita, Kansas for over 16 hours (including a Mass). The number of Catholics that stopped to pray a Rosary was overwhelming. It was the most evident example of someone who has passed, yet alive in the presence of Christ, and drawing those in the Communion of Saints to Him. It was absolutely beautiful.

I went to that when the tour came through my city (Saskatoon, at the Holy Family Cathedral). Such a powerful experience! It's interesting you brought it up - I was just thinking of the event last night when I saw the 3rd class relic prayer card. (And I still am wearing his medal)
I, too, feel that saints pray for me by their relics😭💓 the relic of Saint Faustina and St.Pope John Paul the Great make me sooo very joyful, hopeful, happy and protected.
I got to see the relic here in Toronto as well at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, just a 5 minute walk from my home. It was an experience I will always remember.
Padre pio´s incorruptible heart visited Argentina the last sunday , and I had the privilege of being there. It was so beautiful and inspiring!
Hi Lizzie, you are an answer to my prayers. Thankyou for your videos. I have been converting to Catholic for a month. I was a Catholic growing up, but didn’t practice it. I became a evangelical Christian 25 years ago but the Lord has been tugging me into Catholicism for some time and I resisted for the longest time. But I went to cenfession with a book full of my sins and when I was absolved by Jesus through the priest I felt so free and soo full of the love of God that I didn’t feel in the Protestant church. I am praying my Rossary three times a day and I cant tell you how many miracles Have happened since. I am still struggling with many things like you share you did, but God is leading me and I totally am surrendered to Him. It is hard though because I was a preacher in the Protestan church and now nobody knows yet that I have converted to Catholicism, but I know things will go haywire but I am om with it, I just want to follow Jesus and do what He wants me to do. I am going to start praying for you, your hace a great calling in your life, keep it up sweetheart, God love you and our Mother Mary does too. You know, something you said in this video about not chewing the eucarist, the bible talks about in John 6:54 says, “ he that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” That word eateth, is number G5176 in Greek ir means “ to gnaw or chew, to eat.” So, it is ok to chew it. As a Protestant I've always been told that we never know what's in someone's heart when they die and thus praying for their souls made sense. Most churches I've been to honor chastity//abstinence and adults deciding to stay single and chaste as a way to be do more for God and the world. And plenty of Protestants forgo birth control, leaving their family up to God. I think we need to remember that while Catholics tend to hold wide beliefs across the capital C Church, Protestant viewpoints very sect to sect and even church to church.
I love the way you talk about our church it makes me love it even more. 💒 As catholics we do things as the church teaches us, but most of us dont even know the real meaning, with your videos, you're going to help lots of people that still dont know.

I’ve been catholic for 55yrs. Never had a Paschal candle. So jealous. LoL.
So about candles. What we do is light a candle when we pray, and then we agree to lift up the intentions of those who lit the other candles as well. So it’s a way of having people praying for what you are praying for. Truly beautiful!

Hi Lizzie! I went to a Coptic Orthodox church where I crossed to the right first. But my seatmate corrected me and told me to start at the left, exactly the way the Roman Catholics do:) I believe they have a lot more in common than they realize. Both religions are beautiful.
Busy Violin Learner I am Catholic but my friends are Orthodox from Romania. They invited us to church a few times and learned they crossed themselves too but in the opposite direction. Although the mass was in Romanian I was able to understand most of what was going on because it was very similar to Catholic mass. Oh and the churches are beautiful.
what's the difference between the Orthodox way and the "western" way Lizzie speaks about?
Geofanny Yohanes -- there is a sad separation in the family, as our uncles are barely speaking to one another. All of them are descended from the Apostolic Line instituted by Christ, and so they bicker over who has supremacy. The Orthodox Patriarchs/Popes say they're all equals, although they originally recognized the Seat of Peter (descended from the Seat of Moses in Judaism) as the First Among Equals. It's unclear, however, what the Orthodox understand this to mean. I'm sure it's clear in their minds -- or at least, they think it is -- but they reject the idea that the First Among Equals has any authoritative voice over the others...which to me doesn't make sense, because "First" seems to imply "Authority," wherein the others are obligated to acquiesce in doctrinal and dogmatic matters. But they tell me that it was simply a fru-fru, meaningless, honorary title, merely flattery. I personally doubt this because the concept of having a "First" is never meaningless -- it's always significant. Indeed, after the Great Schism which lasts to this day between the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches, the Orthodox transferred the title of "First" to the Patriarch of one of the other Apostolic Churches.....which tells me they desire leadership. God created us, and knows that we desire leaders and guides. He made us that way! Jesus looked at the people and was moved to pity because they were like sheep without a shepherd. But some sheep get feisty and don't want to obey the shepherd. The shepherd says, "Go right," but they want to go left, so they break away. All the differences that Orthodox bring up in conversation with me boil down to rejection of Authority. They have no way of resolving disputes between one another, or of clarifying questions of the Faith. They haven't held a Council since 1100 or so (they say it's because no further refining of Doctrine has been needed, yet each Patriarch makes pronouncements as events in the world unfold, so something needs clarification at times). If you were to ask an Orthodox faithful, you would receive answers that object to the Pope in Rome and to the Catholic Church, very often sounding quite Protestant. It is important to note, however, that there are Churches in the East and in Africa that are in communion with the Church in Rome, who recognize the Papacy as the authority of the whole Church in matters of Doctrine and Dogma. Outsiders (including Latin Catholics -- that is, Western Catholics, or "Roman Catholics," although that's not the proper name) often mistake Eastern and African Catholics for Orthodox because their Liturgies are so similar, and they don't use Latin as a Liturgical Language, but they are certainly Catholic.

I'm really encouraged to hear you say this about Church authority. Far too many people are confused by Francis, yet most of what he says is nothing new. And you are right, much of it rises to the level of schism.
Cherish this seed of love of authority that the Spirit has given you. Don't let anyone steal it from you.

I give respect to Pope Francis as our Pope, but there are things that he speaks on that don't fully seem like he is aware of what is happening. For example when he was talking about building bridges rather than walls when it came to the border wall, the things is there are huge gaps in our border where smuggling and illegal immigration can take place. If Pope Francis had the entire knowledge on this then maybe he would better understand why many see that a border wall may be helpful.
Also there are some cases where the Pope does abuse there power, for example the Borgias. Pope Francis from my knowledge doesn't seem much like Pope Alexander IV but there is the possibility for a Pope to abuse there power. With that we should respect the position but we have to also make sure that we aren't doing the opposite of what we should do in those occasions

You really don't want to go to purgatory, because it's better to go straight to heaven. I can understand your desire to be the most pure when you meet God, but try aiming for heaven with that in mind. It's like archery. The arrow, representing our spiritual life, slightly drops due to the gravity of our sins. You aim for heaven, and you might hit purgatory. If you aim for purgatory, you could end up in hell and there's no getting out of there. Just being cautious here, because we all want everyone to be in heaven.
Joseph Renna this is a fine point, one Mother Angelica made many times in her broadcasts. But I do appreciate Lizzie’s intention to be purified to the greatest extent by God before she enters the Gates. I understand her good intention, but I think you make the point better. After all purgatory is to be temporary, even if that means I end up on the skeleton crew decommissioning the place and turning all the lights out at the end of time!😂
I absolutely agree we should want and strive to go straight to Heaven.
But let’s be honest. If I find myself in purgatory I will be overjoyed that I’m on my way to Heaven.
Joseph Renna and Kevin Fraser -- Mother Angelica also said it would be totally worth the pain of Purgatory because it means going to heaven. It's not "aiming for Purgatory," but aiming for purity. Someone who aims for purity is going to make sacrifices in this life, and still not complain about hitting Purgatory -- especially us fallen away and returned Catholics. I deserve less, but God's mercy brought me back. I have temporal punishments due to me, so for me to go straight to heaven means extreme sacrifice in this life. I'm trying, but since it's unlikely that I'll be able to get it all purged while I live in the flesh, I've made an Heroic Act so that all the merits of my works and prayers go to the Holy Souls....and in turn, they pray for me. We're a team.

Thanks for sharing your impressions. Believe it or not even cradle Catholics look at some of these things with curiosity at times. But as I said on FB when I posted your video, we are a weird - and wonderful - lot. I think the fact that we come from an ancient tradition and other culture/s explains some of it. Protestantism is relatively new. Our American mindset as you've mentioned before prevents us sometimes from easily embracing the richness of Catholicism. This one was super fun. I've gotta think the hardest part of becoming Catholic is knowing where the actual doctrinal content of the Church ends - and where private devotional practice begins. My parents generation grew up with absolutely no distinctions made between those two things.
So I frequently hear things like, "Sister So-And-So said we're supposed to do it this way." Or "Father Someguy said this about the sacrament." And the assumption was that the idiosyncratic obsessions of Sister So-And-So and Father Someguy constitute the dogmatic teaching of the Catholic faith.
On the flipside, as a lifelong Catholic I feel like I could make a video called, "20 Things That I don't Know Why Protestants Freak Out About."
One of the top ones would have to be the bizarre things Protestants say about crucifixes. When people say, "He's not on the cross anymore!"... I just find myself dumbfounded. As if we the fact that we Catholics depict the crucifixion in art means we're unaware that Jesus was taken down off the cross, placed in a tomb, and rose from the dead. (And then every year around Christmas we momentarily think Jesus is still an infant, I guess.)

Vatican ii itself was fine, really, but how it was enforced (or rather, lack thereof) is why the Church today is "failing." You'll meet some crazy "traditional" Catholics, but the rest of us respect the papal authority, and we criticize him on his non-spiritual matter (sorry I forgot the proper term).
I mean, it's sad that Catholics have to actually call themselves 'traditional' Catholics when tradition is a pillar of the Church. Isn't that odd? Every Catholic should be "traditional"

At some point you have to look up the history of the Bad Popes if you want to know how a Catholic can question and disagree with a Pope but still be a faithful Catholic. Jesus did teach his disciples to respect the elders of synagogue and the priests of Temple because they sat in the seat of Moses but he also taught them not too blindly follow everything they state. Peter was the leader among the Apostles but he did on occasion need to be told that he was wrong.
@ what happens when a married Priests wife is out with her friends from work for the night so the Priest is at home with the kids, then someone from the parish is sent to the hospital and is about to die. However, the Priest has no time to take the kids anywhere or have someone come over and watch them. Because of this the Priest might not make it in time to give anointing, confession, or any other sacraments to the person who is about to die because they are married and have kids so they have other responsibilities. That is partly why Priests don't get married, so that they can devote as much time as possible to God and his Church

It’s a good thing to learn something from you ( coming from a Protestant perspective ) the candle story was fun. Well, I’m catholic and blew candles every time I celebrated my bdays... and seeing candles in church, lit it during prayer meetings and stuff like that, is like a symbolism of light in the midst of darkness. ;)

The charismatic gifts are not dead in the Church. Not all are called to it but it is very helpful if you are.
I think it is making a slight revival! We do Alpha at my parish and there is an entire retreat based on the Holy Spirit and the gifts and fruits.
I also went through a Charismatic Gifts inventory, they aren't all supernatural (like tongues or discernment of spirits) some are natural (like administration or writing). Also I know someone who has the gift of healing, they're not dead!!
That's awesome. I was slain in the spirit by a charismatic priest who is from India. He was in a motorcycle accident and legally dead for over an hour. He is very humble. I think people need to be aware and more open to it. Yes they are lesser gifts but they go great with the greater gifts like confession and the Eucharist. Speaking in tongues can ward off depression and help us realise the presence of Jesus. But people are lead to different things. That's one of the great things about our faith.

The charismatic group organizes every year a stay awake evening on Pentecost night where they offer concerts, prayer, adoration, and speak about the Holy Spirit and the Gifts. The event starts on saturday at 3pm and ends the next day on sunday at 6am.
I guess charismatic movements are not for everybody, just like tridentine mass. But being sceptical about those traditions prevents people from learning a new dimension of loving and worshiping God.

So I recently learned that crossing yourself right to left isn't just the "Orthodox way", Eastern Catholics do it too! It actually used to be the way Roman Catholics did it but for whatever reason it changed over the years. The reason behind it is so beautiful, when a priest gives a blessing he moves his hand left to right, so we receive it by mirroring his hand as a child would. Rather than "giving ourselves" the blessing, we receive it and acknowledge that it can only come through the power of God.
I've actually started crossing myself the "Eastern way" occasionally since I learned this😁

I love this and I can relate so much as someone who is a Catholic Convert. Especially the Sign of the Cross which felt so weird to me the first time I saw it (as well as relics, Marian apparitions and the rosary) Going to mass for the first time was so strange and intimidating for me as well because their liturgy is so different from any Protestant church I had been to.
This was a great video!! I am a Cradle Catholic and even I have had trouble understanding all of these strange things, but beautiful!, that Catholicism has. My now husband and I used to have debates and serious conversations about relics because I was having a tough time with them. It's funny because growing up I didn't have trouble believing and accepting Church teaching. It wasn't until I got older (even in elementary school) when kids/teens would question me about some of these very things that got me to dig deeper into my faith and discover how amazingly awesome it is even if I struggle to understand.
Btw, I know you are a fresh to the faith (welcome!!) but I highly suggest some beautiful and meaty reads The Diary of St. Faustina and Interior Castle (written by St. Theresa of Avila-my confirmation saint). They are some great spiritual readings and they are just both awesome women saints!!

Hey Lizzie, just in case you haven't come across this fact yet, every Catholic altar contains the relic of at least one saint, in homage to the ancient practice of celebrating the Mass over the crypts of martyrs. Thanks for all your great videos!
Robert Barnes: Sadly, you're partially correct, but not entirely, and more for reasons of abuse than anything else. There is a myth floating around that Vatican II somehow abrogated the practice of interring relics beneath altars; this is absolutely FALSE! I have never seen any statement, either in the council documents or in subsequent statements from a Church dicastery, which has abrogated this practice.
The current Code of Canon Law, in canon 1237, section 2, states: "The ancient tradition of placing relics of martyrs or other saints under a fixed altar is to be preserved, according to the norms given in the liturgical books." Please note that the wording of the canon is not “may be,” or “can be” but IS TO BE! It’s pretty clear that this is to be taken not as an allowance, but an instruction. This instruction is reiterated in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) (paragraph 302), The Rite of Dedication of a Church and an Altar (RDCA) (chapter 6, paragraph 11), and the Ceremonial of Bishops (COB) (No. 866). These are the very “liturgical books” referenced in canon 1237.
To be sure, a fixed altar CAN be dedicated without a relic (as noted in the RDCA, in the above-cited paragraph), but this is NOT desirable. The COB, No. 866, instructs the preservation of the practice of interring relics beneath altars, “if possible.” Of course, this implies that if it is “not possible,” it is not an absolute requirement. Sadly, some parish officials use this provision as an excuse to disobey the duties imposed on them by canon 1237 when seeing to the construction of a new altar. Let’s be honest; how “not possible” is it really when there are entire offices at the Vatican which parishes can contact for assistance in procuring a relic for a new altar? In the early 2000s, my home diocese petitioned Rome for assistance in obtaining a relic for the altar of a new church that was to be built, and was provided with a relic of St. Therese of Lisieux before the construction of the Church was even complete.
The provision for the dedication of a fixed altar without a relic was intended to facilitate the construction of new Churches more quickly, and allow them to begin celebrating the Mass whilst still waiting/working on securing a relic for the altar. It was NOT intended for parish officials to just ignore canon 1237 and let the altar of a parish church go without a relic forever, perhaps because they are ideologically opposed to the practice of traditional Catholic customs! Sadly, I concede your point that many churches suffer under the leadership of men who do just that, and their altars may indeed not contain relics for who knows how long (though I pray someone will set the matter right at some future date).
Regarding the myth of Vatican II abrogating the interment of relics beneath altars, I think it stems from a combination of people misunderstanding parts of other documents, as well as witnessing the disobedience of parish officials to canon 1237, without realizing that this is an abuse and not the accepted norm. Following the council, permission was granted for the use of movable altars, without the use of a dedicated altar stone. In keeping with the above-cited canon, these movable (not fixed) altars do NOT have relics. I can see how this might confuse some people into thinking that, now, all altars (including fixed), are not to contain relics, but this is not the case. In reality, within a church, truly movable altars are quite rare, especially in the US (which is why I didn’t go into the minor points of differentiation between fixed and movable altars in my original comment). In older churches, where the altar is built into the wall, movable altars are sometimes placed in the sanctuary to permit the celebration of the Mass versus populum (facing the people). However, most American churches, even if they were built before the council, now feature freestanding (i.e. not attached to the wall), fixed altars (hence my ignoring it in the previous comment). Furthermore, the RDCA does contain reforms as to HOW relics are to be interred in altars, including a statement in chapter 11 which now forbids the older practice of placing small relics within the altar stone (i.e. the top surface of the altar) itself. This could also be confusing, but the intent was merely to have people inter relics within the base of the altar, or in ground under the altar.
In summary, your response to my comment is partially right, in that it is now more likely that you will find a fixed altar without a relic than it was prior to Vatican II. However, that fact is due not to any reform of the council, but to the fact that Bishops are less likely now to enforce obedience to Church law, or enact repercussions for disobedience, than in previous times.

I agree; I think it wold have been much better had canon law featured wording that left absolutely no room for abuse. Sadly, this is just one of many wounds to Christ's Church which we must now deal with. I usually steer away from pointing out abuse and troubles within the Church to new converts, as it's usually just more likely to confuse them than help them in any way. However, it is eventually necessary for all Catholics to recognize and face troubles within the Church, so that we can each do our part to ameliorate these problems, in whatever way we can.
Robert Barnes I’ve made a lot of films of masses in churches built and consecrated post II Vatican. Every one has had a relic in the altar. So if you’re saying this is never done anymore in the last half century, my experience doesn’t seem to match yours.
You are a beautiful soul and I so admire your explanations and in depth study of our beautiful Catholic Faith. I am a cradle Catholic, but feel like I knew so little at age 62! I have been taking Apologetics classes where we study our Faith from a historical, theological and biblical perspective, reading daily scripture, praying the Rosary daily, listening to Relevant Radio, planning on BIBLE IN A YEAR with Father Mike Schmitz, and now listening to You! There is so much to learn and I am feeling more at peace in my life and have an inner joy that comes from knowing and being closer to God and my Faith as the years go by. In Catholicism, it's q continuum, not a "once saved, always saved."

BTW...I am not Bipolar, but many times I feel very emotional to the point of tears when I gaze upon Jesus on the cross and really contemplate the magnitude of what he did for us ...the ultimate sacrifice if dying on the cross to free us from sin and to give us the opportunity to have everlasting life in heaven!

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I think all the ways in which Catholicism is "strange" are actually strong pointers to its truth. It's like the opposite of those "seeker-sensitive" churches that go out of their way to make anyone who walks in feel totally "at home," lets them have coffee and donuts during the service, etc. Catholicism, precisely because it is "universal" and bound to tradition, is much more resistant to being co-opted by the dominant culture; e.g., stigmata or incorruptible bodies are undoubtedly considered "morbid" by most people, but a Catholic perspective will assert that it's OUR culture that has an upside-down relationship with death etc., and if takes encounter with such "strangeness" to become aware of this, so be it.
I very much agree with you that many "traditional" Catholics have fallen scandalously short of the appropriate filial piety towards Pope Francis in the last few years. With that said, I do think there's room for healthy criticism of the Pope, bishops, etc., when they do not adequately represent the universal faith of the Church. Everyone agrees there have been horrible, even depraved popes at times in Church history. Pope Francis is clearly nothing like this -- I think BOTH Pope Benedict AND Pope Francis have been awesome popes in their own ways, despite how they're often juxtaposed! -- but it's a live discussion in Catholicism, extending from the most "traditional" to the most "progressive," as to what exactly papal authority and obedience to the Pope entail in different concrete contexts. To take 2 American cardinals, compare how differently Cardinal Burke and Cardinal Cupich would each explain these things! Though admittedly most of the others would be somewhere in the middle.

I love all those things about my Catholic faith!!! also pilgrimages, "El Camino', the beautiful churches all over the world, the fact that you can go to mass no matter where you are, even if you don't understand the language you understand what is going on in the mass. And the "World Youth Day' that takes place every three years. Next year, Jan. 2019 it will take place in Panama. Just the fact that you meet all these young Catholics from around the world and share their faith and same values, and beliefs, just makes you feel like you are not alone, that youth is not lost and it gives you a sense of hope! I love my faith! I love being Catholic!!

Very interesting video!!! I don't find most of the things you mentioned as "weird" just because I've always been Catholic. But it opens my eyes in how others may view Catholicism. I remember my boyfriend in HS (who is Pentecostal) would point out the crucifix on my necklace; he would say that they do not wear crucifixes bc it's an execution symbol. I never knew/saw it that way!

After watching your videos I’m afraid I’m becoming catholic. Also could someone explain how the saints work? I know that you aren’t worshiping the saints but asking them to pray for you but how do you know they will hear your prayers? why wouldn’t you just pray directly to god?
We do pray directly to God. Asking for intercession from Saints is no different from asking a family member or friend to pray for something.
Divine Lies Jesus is the only mediator between God and men, don't you read the Bible? We can't communicate with the dead people, don't you read the Bible? Praying for someone to God is one thing and praying "TO" a saints is something different and against God! 🙄
Have you ever asked a friend or family member to pray for you? It's the same thing! Scripture tells us in Revelation that there is a "cloud of witnesses" in heaven watching over us! Life doesn't end after death, there is still spiritual warfare happening!
We pray to God and only to God. However, we can ask the saints to pray for us, such as you might ask a friend or family member to pray for you. :)
E A I'm spry asking someone to pray TO God for you isn't the same thing as praying TO someone to go to God for you! Lizzie thinks you can pray for people after they die! You're either saved and are in heaven or you're not saved and are in hell. Somebody prayers aren't going to change anything after the fact! But I guess hell doesn't exist anymore anyways according the the pope so ... yeah okay! Lizzie, thank you for bringing up the Pope Francis topic. I greatly admire Pope Francis and much of his style. He's not perfect. He makes social mistakes. I don't get why so many fellow Catholics are so critical or anti-Pope Francis. Have you started reading Pope Francis' encyclical gaudete et exultate? It's really good...but I'm still reading it! Michael Verde Yes this is what I believe and I agree with this, as with major changes to liturgy that occurred around 2011-12 when I was studying at the UK it happened... we started praying the longer and fuller Nicene-Constantiple Creed (yey! I love the longer version I imagine my self speaking it with the entire host of Heaven and the devil is so sad!). Pope Francis’ actions regarding the Money distribution of certain hospitals, and especially, his relations with our Chinese brothers, is heartbreaking. What he’s done to the Chinese Church has actually made the word schism pop up in their circles, which makes me incredibly sad.

He has swallowed the seamless garment doctrine of the liberal progressive bishops of the U.S.
Again contradicting his predecessors like saint John Paul ll who taught that the greatest evil of our time is Abortion.
And saint mother Teresa who was feeding the hungry serving the poor and dying, said that abortion was a greater evil.
I’m with you! People need to trust the Holy Spirit and why he was elected. He gets in trouble for what he says but people are quick to misinterpret. I think he is exactly what the Church needs right now.

You are allowed to chew the Eucharist, thats what they did in the early Church. Jesus did say that unless we GNAW on his flesh we have no life within us. However, I too like to keep Jesus in my mouth as long as possible so I can talk with Him intimately and adore Him within my mouth. There are also practical reasons not to chew, namely, so that it lessens the chance that He gets stuck in your teeth unknowingly, but you just have to be careful about that anyway. God bless!

The novus ordo to extraordinary form divide is a spectrum, and not as black and white as you portrayed it. There are plenty of trads who respect Pope Francis and just personally prefer the Latin mass. Loved this video, it was fascinating!
I didn't interpret her meaning the same way you do -- it sounded to me like she was just surprised that anyone who claims to be "Traditional Catholic" would have the nerve to criticize the pope publicly, since Traditional Catholicism forbids such acts. And she knows not all Traditionalists do this -- it was off her radar even though she attends a Latin Mass when she can.
Judaism also has kissing bibles and prayer books. We also have intentions (thoughts we are supposed to have) while performing religious obligations

You should do a video explaining parts of Protestant Culture to Catholics. A lot of Catholics have started following you lately and I know that that's a topic that would be helpful to a lot of folks! As a fellow convert from a Protestant background, I've found myself explaining lots of things to Catholic friends that I always took for granted.

Purgatory. Where is it mentioned in the Bible that it is okay to pray for the dead or that it even exists? I know the Protestant Bible has fewer books... is it in one of the omitted books?
