Because orthodox Christians agree with Catholics on a lot of things if not most things but there are a few big differences that keep the vast majority of orthodox Christians from wanting to join the Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit told me He would show me soon if I should be Catholic or not and I'll follow Him. I'm pretty sure He will say "yes" and my family has a really negative view about Catholicism. I tried to buy a Catholic Bible buy I let my dad talk out if it...so stupid. Anyway, I desire your guyses prayers and great video Lizzie. Anne Maree The Holy Spirit leads you into all truth. The concept of sola scriptura that you're talking about I think is unreasonable and has only been around about 500 years, there's nothing in the Bible about sola scriptura. And historic Christianity never believed in it or sola fide. If you have questions I'd suggest you go watch some CatholicAnswers videos.

      Anne Maree okay you told me to go the the Bible alone and forsake two millenias of Christian tradition and teaching. And to come to the Bible with the Holy Spirit as my only teacher. How has that worked out for Protestantism? Its resulted in total anarchy, you can't go to church with people who agree with everything you believe. Everyone believes something different. No, I'm of the opinion that divisions in the body of Christ are man made, and are the work of the flesh. Christ built a Church on Peter and gave it indisputable authority just like it says in Scripture.

    I understand completely what you mean by being afraid of becoming Catholic. I’m going to convert to Catholicism, because I feel God calling me to become Catholic and I’m intellectually recognizing that the Catholic Church is right, but I still feel emotionally opposed to Catholicism in some ways. Your videos have helped me so much with recognizing I have to become Catholic even if I didn’t emotionally want to, especially the ones on Sola Fide. As soon as Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide went out the window for me, I knew I had to become either Catholic or Orthodox.

      Child Lostly
      The church teachings don't include idolatry practice,but the worship of the Holy Trinity.This can be found in the Apostles creed and Nicene creed and there's no mention of Mary worship in either version. How do you comply with Matt 18:15-18? Who is speaking and what does He say about His church being the last line of authority.

    • @MrBirzer
      @MrBirzer 6 лет назад +4

      Child Lostly,
      We know for a fact that we cannot love Mary, the mother of God, more than Jesus, the Son of God, loves his mother. We Catholics know that worshiping any creature rather than worshiping the Creator is indeed idolatry, which is why we don't worship her or any other creature or any created thing. Mary's finite human nature compared with Jesus' infinite divine nature is self evident so we Catholics easily see your error and attempt to correct the misunderstanding of those who've chosen to follow the failed Catholic priest, Martin Luther, rather than to follow the one true God Who loves Mary infinately more than any finite creature ever could.
      I wonder what Jesus' response is to your view of His mother, and to your implied idea that His mother deserves no more recognition than any other woman, because that idea appears quite ludicrous to actually think there is absolutely no difference between any other woman and the one woman who gave her fiat to bring our Redeemer into this world such that she alone has the relationship with the Blessed Trinity where she is the daughter of God the Father, the mother of God the Son, and the spouse of God the Holy Spirit.
      This is the difference between how God and His one and only true Catholic and apostolic Church thinks of Mary, and how you appear to think of Mary. Your false accusation of idolatry must be addressed with reiteration because you appear to be quite determined to continue your spreading this error of your misunderstanding that Catholics worship Mary as some kind of goddess, when Catholics actually worship God alone and quite simply treat Mary as Jesus did, with great love and respect and devotion.
      I emphasize that Catholics do not worship Mary, and if you would dive deeply into history you would either cease to be Protestant or continue living this lie that places your salvation in great jeopardy. If you doubt this, try refuting any of Lizzie's arguments that brought her into God's one true Church and you will at least have the opportunity to see the Truth Who sets us free from the darkness spread by that failed Catholic priest, Martin Luther.
      You may actually be right about Mary bringing Lizzie into God's one true Church because Mary often brings people to her Son. Can you see the difference between our loving Mary as Jesus loved her compared with someone worshiping Mary as some goddess? If you're able to see that, then you should be able to see that your saying Catholics worship Mary is as ridiculous as saying Jesus worships Mary because Catholics quite simply imitate Jesus in His reverence that He has for His mother.
      I certainly hope that you take a deep dive into history so you can experience the awesome joy that God offers to all instead of stubbornly refusing His offer as many unfortunately do. Please take care and may God bless you and yours always. ❤

      Maximilian Kolbe knows A LOT about Mary! ...no seriously, that Saint (who founded the Militia Immaculata) prepared Poland for WWII and was (along with St. Faustina) the spiritual parent of Pope John Paul II. If you don't believe that Jesus is working in the world right now, in our own time, THROUGH His mother, then I pray for you.

    • @reyjuario6043
      @reyjuario6043 6 лет назад +2

      N S... i am a catholic but i don't worship mary. You are just jumping into conclusion that we worship her because you heard her name in our prayer, but, if you listen and analyze the content of the prayer it is all directed to Jesus. We are just asking His mother to intercede for us just as she inteceded during the wedding in Cana where Jesus listened to her even if it was not yet time for Him to make miracles. Besides, Mary deserves our respect, after all, she is "blessed among all women".

    So often, those who are passionate about their faith and firmly believe and profess they will "never" become Catholic, ultimately do. It is their very passion that opens their heart to the Holy Spirit. The common path then is for them to research something they hate about Catholicism, finding (1) they didn't understand what Catholics actually believe and (2) what they actually believe turns out to be very solid. It's like dominos then until one day they find themselves being confirmed and completely amazed how they got there, considering how absolutely impossible that had seemed.

    • @GeorgeSipe
      @GeorgeSipe 6 лет назад +2

      Tipparat, this very topic is about Jesus Christ. Specifically, it is about the Body of Christ - His Church. The 1 Church He and He alone founded 2,000 years ago when He selected Peter as its first leader, gave His Church authority to act in His Holy Name and guaranteed its protection until the end of time. We (the faithful continuing our earthly pilgrimage along with all the saints and angels) rejoice in this young woman coming into full communion with Christ's Church embracing the fullness of Our Lord's love in teaching, mercy, and sacraments.

    • @GeorgeSipe
      @GeorgeSipe 6 лет назад +2

      Tipparat, I was indeed (at least partially) misinformed when I was a Protestant Christian. I had many misconceptions about Catholicism similar to yours. Those scales have fallen from my eyes. After much research and study, I am now a Catholic Christian. What you call the "catholic religion" is actually Christianity in its fullness, as Our Savior has passed on to us through His Church. We recognize only 1 founder of our Church - Jesus Christ. Our faith comes from Him, passed on to the Apostles and all their successors in an unbroken chain. Indeed, Jesus Christ is Lord!

    • @GeorgeSipe
      @GeorgeSipe 6 лет назад

      Tipparat, you are talking at me and not listening. I couldn't agree more that Jesus Christ is Lord -- alone. You throw out a ton of other things about Christ's true Church which are, to be frank, quite wrong in terms of what she actually teaches, history and scripture. Each one deserves a full discussion for which a long stream of RUclips comments won't really work. Please consider this -- find out what the Church actually teaches, read the earliest fathers, check the claims of continuity from reliable sources and see if they are true or false. As always, the truth will set you free.

    • @GeorgeSipe
      @GeorgeSipe 6 лет назад +3

      Tipparat, the "catholic religion" is Christianity as passed on since the beginning by Our Lord, unchanged for 2,000 years. We have no founder but Jesus Christ -- alone. The year was 33AD, launched at Pentecost but whose foundations were laid throughout Jesus ministry culminating in Matthew 16:18-19 (KJV: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.") The very, very early Church was referred to by several names including "The Way" and "Catholic" (meaning "universal"). The first surviving written use of the name "Catholic" comes from around 100AD by Ignatius of Antioch in a letter to Christians in Smyrna (he wrote: "Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.").

    41:38 Oh I am going through this EXACT same thing Lizzie. I am about to end a 9-year relationship because it's a sinful relationship. For whatever reason, the Holy Spirit has called me back Home to the Catholic Church. I tried attending an Episcopalian Church where I can take communion there. But it wasn't the same, once you become Catholic, it's in your DNA. And in the Catholic Church, I cannot take Communion. Which means I have to end the relationship and all the friendships I created. It makes me sad but it means I get to be in full communion with Jesus and his Church. That's more important than any relationship. It's really is bittersweet.

      I look at it as choosing and having a relationship with Jesus as the best relationship one can ever have. Jesus did tell us that we would lose people if we followed Him. But it is hard to lose people in your life.
      I don't know the specifics but perhaps, over time, your significant other and your current friends will see the change that having Jesus and the Church in your life results in. The Holy Spirit changing you from within. I've long believed that we can preach the Gospel to others through our actions and our love far more effectively than our words. Perhaps, in time, that special person in your life and some of your friends will come to see that you've made the right choice and will follow suit. It's all about God "planting seeds" through us as His instruments that will, in time, take root and influence them spiritually.
      So long as they cannot lead you into temptation to sin, it may be possible to keep some of your friends in your life and remain on good terms with the person that you are currently in a sinful relationship with . God will guide you.
      I hope this helps!

      A Godly view of Lizzie...
      James 4:1-10 English Standard Version (ESV)
      Warning Against Worldliness
      4 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? 2 You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. 4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

      Anne Maree what’s your infallible authority for making this personal definitive doctrinal dogmatic proclamation to Emily Christine. Emily Christine understands why The Holy Magisterium of Christ’s one Holy catholic and apostolic Church is objectively trustworthy on all matters of faith and morals.
      What makes your personal infallible opinion more trustworthy than that?
      Full disclosure that’s a trick question that will expose subjectivism no matter how it’s answered, but why don’t you answer it anyway?

    Dear Lizzie, I have never ever left any comments to any videos but your conversion videos touch me so much that I cannot help but getting in touch with you... I have always been catholic but have always had a lot of evangelical friends and your videos have made me understand so much catholic dogmas actively. I mean I have always believed in everything the church says but it was more a passive belief because I was convinced that catholic church was the right church but your videos made me understand so much things in an active way and I started appreciate the catholic traditions and the catholic roots soooo much more through your videos. They helped me to see more clearly that the carholic traditions really reach back to the early church... That's why I'd love sooooo much to subtitle your "cathoiic convertion VIDEOS" in order that my German speaking friends and fellow believers can also profit from your experience... What do you think about it?

    I grew up catholic, but the problem with must of us is that we do everything just for tradition, we go to church because our parents taught us to do it, same with sacraments and so on. We dont understand anything about the church and religion and we feel fine about it, thats the way i was but... i was in depression i use to go to sunday mass, getting communion wasnt very important to me, i didnt know the real meaning of it or even if we know it, we dont fully believe it. So once i felt really bad for depression and i talk to God from the bottom om my heart i gave him my life and after 1 year i had my conversión it was like i had something covering my eyes and God came up to let me see him and his church, everything totally changed i dont care about anything else in this world but God, i started to see the life of Saints, history obout the church, testimonies of converted protestants, testimonies of catholics just like me. I started to feel the need to know everything about our religion i always watch videos here, i listen to catholic audios i want to increase my faith and be more like Jesus told us to be... Saints. (Wish i could write my whole testimony but is way too long).🙄

      SunčevNarod yeah same with my parents, they taught me everything they could, i grew up and took my own desisions i married only by law, lived in depression must of my life until God opened my eyes little by little and made me free. Now i know the way i should teach my kids not only with words but with my own example we serve at church now.

      @alejandratorres344 6 лет назад

      Madame Poovie i mean we do things just because our parents taught us to do them, not because we are convinced or because we have faith or love for God. Thats why when protestants ask us why you do this and that we have no idea how to answer, we need to take religion serious and learn how to defend our selves from other religions.

    OMG! Lizzie, I can barely keep up with your hypomaniac side in normal vids. Watching you critique yourself, is so intense. You're outstanding. Your journey in faith puts you in good company, with other famous Catholics mortified by their past---thinking Paul of Tarsus and, yes, Augustine of Hippo! Its funny because i decided to read the whole catechism last Christmas and im still reading it till now, and i have soooo many "favorite quotes" but today i read this one:
    1474 - The Christian who seeks to purify himself of his sin and to become holy with the help of God's grace is not alone. "The life of each of God's children is joined in Christ and through Christ in a wonderful way to the life of all the other Christian brethren in the supernatural unity of the Mystical Body of Christ, as in a single mystical person."
    I took it from google cause im reading it in arabic, anddd i actually like it more in arabic haha but anyways i loved it i felt like im not alone, i have a huge family 💙

      Anne Maree and who told you i'm not reading the Bible as well? Funny people. Id like to inform you as well that Our Catechism is filleddd with scripture! Im sorry, but youre embarassing yourself with your ignorant comments! And, im still praying for you :)

      Anne Maree well i'm really sorry to tell you that i'm reading the Whole Bible along with The Catechism, another book about psychology, doing my internship and finishing my Masters degree in Child Psychology. Everyone can find time if they wanted to. And it is so sad, really, that you left the Catholic Church. Really. I always pray for truth, dont worry about it. We have so many bible studies and weirdly we never had a warning not to open this book or that book. And strangely, one thing that makes us practical Catholics is to read the Word of God regularly. Thats something im proud of, actually! More than all the others. But anyway, if you think you have truth, do me a favor, pray for me. Because if it happened that im wrong and youre right, your comments will NEVER pursuase me. I love you! And thank you in advance for your prayers! (And sorry for my english)

      Anne Maree oh i love the book of revelation!!! And what you heard is the opinion of a random priest. Not the "Roman" System. In fact, studies show us that historical proof is not found before abraham, but the Church never said it is a fairytale. In fact, so many of our saints have beautiful interpretations about the book of Genesis! And we love it! And i love reading revelation and no one ever warned me not to read it. And actually, a priest once taught me to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me in my readings. :)

      Anne Maree thank you for informing me! I live in lebanon so syrian news affect us hard, im living those news more than you know:p and you will be very surprised when the final days will come. And im pretty much "equipped" (if thats a word) in fact, i didnt know anything about the Second Coming before becoming a practical Catholic :) and i really dont want to enter in those conversations when you judge the Catholic Church based on your own or your "church"s opinion. So if you wanna go there, better start praying rather than trying to convert us because i already stopped replying on another video for a reason :) God bless you my dear.

      The Church is the authority established by Christ. The New Testament was written and compiled by the Catholic Church. The New Testament is 100% Catholic. Jesus did not establish YOU as the authority. He gave PETER the keys of the kingdom, not you. There was no New Testament for 400 years and you got it from the Catholic Church anyway. Anticatholics really need to do something about their vast ignorance, especially if they want to lord it over others. Helps to have some knowledge first.

    Watching this brought tears to my eyes, a smile to my face, and had me nodding in a funny kind of understanding. I myself converted from Protestantism to Catholic at 13 years old, but you echo almost every sentiment I was processing at the time - although coming out of your mouth, it's much more intellectually based! I remember ushering the words of a Hail Mary out of my mouth, half-whispering them because parts of me still thought I was committing idolatry lol. Anyone can say whatever they want about our Mother Church, but I know that she is where Truth is! Where else (other than in Orthodox) can one be united Body/Blood/Soul/Divinity with Jesus? That's all I need to remind myself that this is where I belong. Love you, Lizzie!

    • @rgt321
      @rgt321 6 лет назад

      The world is falling apart because it is not grounded in TRUTH but rather wallows in moral relativism which the protestant churches are all part of. The Catholic Churches teaching against abortion, the use of artificial contraception and divorce is TRUTH revealed by God. Going against this truth is the reason the World is falling and has been falling into immorality. The Churches teaching on being personally accountable for SIN and having to repent of it is ignored by the culture . Your own personal Jesus will never hold you accountable for anything. Jesus said you will know the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set you free. How can you be set free if you don't have a guide that will lead you into all TRUTH? The way your set free from the bondage of your EGO and your PRIDE is to be humble and obedient to a TRUTH outside yourself.

    Wow, this brings back memories -- I watched pretty much all these videos right when they were new! I remember being so overjoyed when you posted that first "What I Love and Hate about Catholicism" video, just because it showed you had a genuine openness to it and there was a lot to build on (though weirdly I don't think you actually said what you "hated" about it despite the title -- I got all apologetically prepped up for nothing! ;) ). So it's been amazing to be a part of your journey. With how much deeper you've plunged into the fullness of the faith in the last couple years, I can't wait to see where the next couple lead, as you dive even further in to the infinite wellspring within the Church herself.

    Hey Lizzie, I found some really dry books about St Thomas Aquinas and didn't get him, but then I chanced upon 'Thomas Aquinas: Spiritual Master' by Robert Barron. You might like it, since you have a passion for theology & philosophy. St Thomas Aquinas has a beautiful understanding of God's intimate relationship with His creatures and Robert Barron's summary of his great inspiration is well inspiring. It gave me a very positive (fleeting) understanding of God.

    As someone who has kept a journal (off and on) since Senior Year of High School - I can completely relate to wanting to hug your younger self and tell them it's going to be okay.
    I got back into journaling after a few years away back in September of 2016. In order to prep myself, I started rereading all my old volumes. I kept catching myself saying "Oh! Poor, Younger Dan, it's going to be okay!!" (Okay, it was either that or - "Wow, Younger Dan, stop being such a pretentious jerk!" :P )
    One thing I've learned from the experience - never be ashamed of your younger self; they're how you got to be who you are today. I went through a bunch of years where I was hiding from myself, and what really made me feel better was when I learned to embrace who I used to be.
    Great video - but don't be too hard on yourself :)

Even though I have always been Catholic so have not felt it, the feeling of intense fear of the Catholic Church you described that you had sounds to me like an affirmation of the Truth of the Catholic Church since Satan would probably fill you with the most fear about the Church that has the fullness of Truth! It comes from an appreciation for Christian ethics. Abortion was commonly practiced in the ancient world until the rise of Christianity. Romans would leave and reject their children on the sides of mountains, and Christians would come and save them. Now that Christianity is in decline in the West, the old values are returning.

    Yeah, but being vegan is not something the bible asks of us. Imagine celebrating Passover if you were a Jew in Jesus' day, you would say sorry I can't eat the lamb let me just have the celery instead, that wouldn't fly! Meat is GOOD TO EAT and blessed by God. Or imagine yourself saying sorry Jesus I can't have any of the fish you just made in those baskets for the multitudes because I'm vegan! Ridiculous, but it's you right to be vegan if you prefer it but don't make meat eating sound bad or wrong bc that's bad and wrong👍😀

      "God clearly said, in Genesis 1:29-30, that both men and animals were to eat only vegetation. This was certainly part of the creation being [very good], and was God’s best for His creation.
      Genesis 1:29-30:
      ‘Then God said, Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of the earth, and every tree yielding seed: it shall be food for you; and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to everything that moves on the earth that has life, I have given every green plant for food: and it was so.’"

      The reason I'm vegan is because of the modern world's use of the "factory farm." It was ethical the way they treated animals in the ancient world, but in the modern world animals live their entire lives in cages or packed in warehouses, have their horns or beaks burned off with no anesthesia, the egg industry grinds the male chicks to death when they are fully conscious because they have no use for them, etc. and animals are skinned alive, boiled alive.... again with no anesthesia while they are fully conscious. I don't have a problem with the ancient world's use of eating meat on occasion because the animals were not tortured and abused in the way they are now. My MAIN problem is with the modern world's "factory farm" not intrinsically with eating animals.
      I have a lot of other reasons for being vegan: cutting out the saturated fat in eggs, dairy and meat and replacing it with vegan healthy fats i.e. omega 3 rather than omega 6 is extremely healthier for the human body and prevents cancers, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, etc. Eating vegan or just cutting down on the amount of eggs, dairy, meat you consume will extend your lifespan and cut down immensely on disease. So many of my relatives died of cancer when I was young. One of my best friend's dads died of a heart attack when she was in high school. Yes things like this do have a genetic component, but that can be overcome by having a healthy diet higher in omega 3 than omega 6, because omega 3 i.e. unsaturated fats make your body akaline instead of acidic and most diseases only will grow in an acidic environment.

      I totally respect that. I'm not prepared to give up meat, milk, eggs, etc myself, but I congratulate anyone that does for moral reasons. I regret that there is not a stronger lobby advocating for the humane treatment of animals in the food industry. The animal's are God's children too. Still, ultimately, everyone who mistreats any animal causing it pain unnecessarily will have to explain to God why they didn't treat His creations with more respect. I take solace in that.
      There is no reason other than profit that we could not free range and eliminate cruelly small pens, cages, etc. And when an animal is to be sacrificed, it should be done with the minimum amount of fear and pain to the animals that we derive nourishment from.
      In my opinion, it is the Christian approach. Above all things, love!
      Yes, food prices would go up but that's a small price to pay for treating God's Creation with greater respect. Besides, inflation alone will cause food prices to continue to climb. It's a sad fact of life.

    Another great video Lizzie.
    My favorite line from the CCC -
    The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch."
    May our Blessed Mother watch over and protect your family as she cared for hers.

    I remember watching some of your videos before you ever came out saying you were Catholic. I watched your "what I love and hate about Catholicism" and thought, "She sounds like she is converting." A few months later I saw your "Why I am becoming Catholic" video, and laughed. I was so happy for you, and so amazed at the grace God had gave you to change your ideas on so much. I will keep your family in my prayers always. On a side note, I do like your darker hair colour. It is very pretty. God bless, and welcome to Rome sweet Home!

      The Catholic Church is not the harlot. I realize you are free to believe any nonsensical bs you choose, but I see you all over the place trying to pull people out of the one and only apostolic Church. That is a very serious sin for which you will have to answer some day. Jesus founded the Catholic Church. You seem to be the female version of Tim Spangler. I suggest you watch The Pope - Vicar of Christ or Antichrist? by Robert Haddad you RUclips. You would get an education which you obviously are in need of.

    I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, along with anxiety, major depression and S.A.D when I was 37. Before that time I was misdiagnosed with major depression. It took probably 7 or 8 years to get the right combination of meds 2 control my bipolar and other mental illness symptoms. That's a big problem with medications and mental illness. Every tell effects every person different and so it's hard to know whether your advice will help someone else as far as medicine goes. The important thing is that you have a network of people around you who understand the disease and can know you well enough to tell whether you you're in crisis or you need to come down from the mania before you make some terrible mistakes. I know people complain about feeling numb and like they're not human anymore when they take meds which I totally agree with but having to face reality after coming down from a manic place was just getting way too hard for me to handle. I think that I only get manic a day or so per month and my husband can read me so well that he can get me to see it and it doesn't end with a crash landing.
    I'm getting anxious experiencing your mania right now lol, true story so I probably won't finish watching this one but I am so happy for you and will pray that you can find some kind of treatment that works for you.

    Hey Lizzies, it's so interesting and funny seeing you laughing at your own past, heheheh, I also just got received into the Catholic Church like a week ago and it's always funny looking back on how much we've changed and sometimes might even ask how did this happen! Hehehe.
    One thing I could relate is that the Orthodox in a way help in understanding Catholicism because of what they believe, just that they don't declared things dogmas in a black and white manner, this could be the reason why Catholicism gets attacked more often, people just find it difficult to accept things being made dogmas, our culture has become so individualistic, Protestants are also very ambiguous to the point that people can just believe what they believe regardless of what their churches really teach, growing up as Protestant, it never came across to us a problem with "church shopping" or "church hopping" as long as we like the church until now, it's a problem many don't really realize is a problem.
    My country is really deprived of Orthodox church, hardly any, not even an Eastern Catholic church, so you're blessed to have visited the Orthodox church. There are only some Russian expatriates I know because they're my colleagues but they don't attend church at all, so the Orthodox faith isn't really spreading here. But perhaps like you, I'm grateful towards the Orthodox for helping me in my conversion.
    By the way, just curious if you've ever asked this question yourself. Do you think that being in the Church of Christ somehow lead you out of Protestantism into Catholicism or Orthodoxy in some ways? Just curious, because my last denomination before becoming Catholic is somewhat similar to Church of Christ in that they are borderline Fundamentalist, claiming to go by the Bible alone, but ended up distinct from other denominations especially on the men and women role in the church thing.
    Perhaps it would be nice to make a video on that, since you shared on another video on how your bi-polar lead you to Catholicism, just a thought. Anyway, welcome Home! God bless you...

    Hi Lizzie! I started watching your videos a couple of days ago and I would like to say that the way you love the Eucharist and you try to respect and accept all the Catholic dogmas is really inspiring, because I'm Catholic since I was a child and I've started to live for my Church and for Jesus three years ago. So I lived the biggest part of my life "being" Catholic but not searching about it or reading Cathecism. I'm learning so much about my Church with your videos and I'm so happy to know there's a lot of people that REALLY are Catholic and do not say that just to have a belief. Sorry my bad English. Kisses from Brazil!!

    Lizzie,
    Very impressed by your honest confession of theological ideas. How much Aquinas have you read? I think the Angelic Doctor read alongside Augustine helps Catholics really comprehend a lot of ideas about atonement. Aquinas also baptizes Aristotle's natural law so that we can be virtuous in events where we have difficulty discerning directly what Christ would ask of us.
    One thing that I can sense is this subtle misunderstanding of prayer. Do our prayers change God? Is that possible? According to Aquinas, they do not. If they could, then God may be more like a voluntarist God. You seem to have a GREAT understanding of modernism and post-modernism within the Church. When you said something about Vatican II, it made me smirk. As faithful sons and daughters of the Church, we can acknowledge the holy spirit at work in the council and in those documents. However, if you look at how these documents were subtly left open for interpretation, we can see how the enemies of the Church (the work of the spiritual enemies) have desired to neuter (or anesthetize) the most powerful prayer that Holy Mother Church has to offer.
    I suggest taking a look at the book "The Rhine Flows into the Tiber" regarding Vatican II. I suggest reading some Ed Feser for his explanation of Aquinas and even his treatise on death penalty. I agree that the Church's devotion to all life issues is truly beautiful, but we ought to use prudence to acknowledge that not all life issues are exactly the same, just as immigration and abortion are not morally equivalent (though we ought to support just immigration and illegal abortion). Ed Feser has some great books like his "Introduction to Aquinas" and "By man shall his blood be shed".
    God bless you and thank God for your life as an avenue and conduit for the grace of our Lord.
    Question: Do you have a devotion to Our Lady? Check out Fatima if you haven't, yet.

    The more we live in the grace of our Creator, we expand our knowledge, increase our ability to analyze information, and develop inasmuch as accept our own conviction to become who we ought to be. At a very young age, your "growing up" is at a fast pace that you have discern your old faith and the Catholic religion to decide which is best for you. Congratulations!
    Your first reaction about your former view of abortion is quite compelling that brought me to ponder the situation in California about homelessness. (If you search videos about "homeless in San Francisco, you'll see.) Seeing the videos and the hundreds of comments posted, I was appalled how people are so detached from the dire situation. I am hoping that you could see one of the videos in your spare time, and now that you've valued life in a greater context, see what I mean about the utter detachments of humans to what their emotions have become even to a point most express their disgusts. What I mean here is "if we value life according the teachings of Jesus and the commands of our Father, why do we condemn others based on their status in our society? Being homeless, poor, and disgusting to some should not be looked down and shunned; instead, help them in their predicaments. You're being a new Catholic now brings you to a stage of developing your compassion to others as Jesus loves the poor and the sick. Let's hear what you think. :)

    Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
    ”373. What does the dignity of the human person imply for the moral conscience?
    1780-1782
    1798
    The dignity of a human person requires the uprightness of a moral conscience (which is to say that it be in accord with what is just and good according to reason and the law of God). Because of this personal dignity, no one may be forced to act contrary to conscience; nor, within the limits of the common good, be prevented from acting according to it, especially in religious matters.”
