@markasread4349 We never had any major engine or transmission repairs needed. Replaced the rear end after many miles. We had well over 200,000 miles on it. The only issue that I couldn't resolve was it kept draining the battery, so I traded it in. This occurred in the last year, but was fine until then.

I only carry my 2 daughters with me, I put less than 10k miles a year on it, and I don't pull anything with it. So having a diesel isn't a huge need for me. This V10 is very reliable and plenty powerful enough for my needs. I took out the 3rd row so my 2 girls have a huge play area whenever I'm parked anywhere. 👌😁

Gained a TON of power, and since I'm in Michigan where they don't do inspections or smog test, I took out the cat and opened up the piping from the headers back to 4in all the way back to some nice black stainless steel tips. Even though it made a ton more power with the tune, it actually started getting better fuel mileage at about 15-16mpg on the highway (compared to the 10-11) I was getting before 😍 plus the 4x4 works sooooooooo good everywhere I've been.

My dad had a 2000 Ford Excursion limited v10 4x4 that he got from my uncle in the mid 2000's. We loved that thing mainly because it could haul anything we needed. Best example is camping it could fit all four of us comfortably, with room for a cooler between me and my brother, the dog had the back seat to himself, gear in the back and tow our 29ft camper without breaking a sweat. As well as fit 8 people comfortably for school carpools. Mainly its size and capability we loved as well as most people we talked to that owned them loved them for it's size too. Only issues were one alternator and brakes sticking (cheap reman calipers the cause). Only thing he wanted changed was the engine to the 7.3. Unfortunately living in the rust belt took it's toll and the fuel filler neck rotted out and when he couldn't find a replacement from a friend who worked at a ford dealer he fixed it with some rubber tube and sold it. Crazy thing was with 120k, good maintenance but the big rust issue listed at 4,900 we had 12 offers in a day he could have gone to 5,500 and sold it. If not for the rust he would still probably have it and never sold it ever. If I ever had the cash to buy a good rust free one I would do it in a heartbeat. If ford ever made a new one he might buy it but he kinda lost ford after they came out with all their ecoboost stuff and other things he didn't like.
Side notes: The tranny was good but the weak link in them was the torque converter. The tranny shop he had it serviced at informed about this which would show up if people would frequently haul heavy loads. Also a company rebuilds them because people love them so much.
    www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2019/04/30/ford-excursion-cult-refuses-to-let-excessive-suv-go-extinct/3573249002/
Lastly time magazine called it one of the worst 50 vehicles of all time mainly due to bad mileage, it's size, and because soccer mom's couldn't drive it due to it's size. Which is kind of stupid because 1 what suv in the early to mid 2000's didn't get bad mileage Ie suburbans, hummers, etc. 2 peoples inability to drive doesn't reflect a vehicle. And 3 it's size is what makes it so great because it could do it all and have zero issues doing it. (They obviously drove one and never used it to it's full potential)

Ive always had a soft spot for the excursion. My best friend’s dad had a couple of these over the years. Iconic early 2000s gas guzzler.

My 03 Excursion with a V10 will go 600 miles on a fuel load at 80 mph with 5 people aboard including luggage. I paid 6400 for mine. I only got it as a tow vehicle but it has turned into our road trip go to. In the two years we've had it, it's been to Shiprock NM from Salt Lake multiple times, back and forth to Amarillo Tx twice and to California, and with the Utah winter weather this year we haven't gotten stuck in the snow once !

  • @andermac1
    @andermac1 4 года назад

I had a 2000 with the V10. 13 mpg all the time. Seemed like it was modeled on the 350 1 ton chassis. No plug trouble. You need to have your front end checked. They steer better than that. It need that power cover to keep Pepsi out when you use cupholder.

I've never actually been hands-on with one of these, only my second time ever seeing one. Fun little story in the early to thousands. Somebody rented one of these and went full on grand theft auto with it. Police were unable to do anything and powerless to stop it. I forget how many million dollars in damage. The man caused during his rampage. Was in Halifax guy was mentally unstable and was trying to commit suicide by cop. Problem was, the cops were no match for this super SUV. It's part why they ended up ordering a special armored vehicle for the department. I forget how many cop cars. This guy total bouncing them off like little bugs when they tried to do their Trained pit maneuvers and so forth. This guy blissfully just went from vehicle to vehicle swerving right and left, hitting everything in his path. They basically had to some degree box. The guy in to one part of the city and wait for him to run out of gas or get stock. I forget if he ended up getting one of the wheels jammed on something or ran out of gas. In the US. Obviously they would've just riddled it with bullets at their earliest convenience but being Halifax, Canada. The cops don't do that kind of thing here. I Thinking in the US, this guy would've been so dead in minutes.

I was going to say that if this happened in the US, the local agency would probably have set up spikes at some point to try and slow the thing down. If that didn't work, depending on the agency would get an armored truck to box it in to a degree.
However, the most simple option would be to shoot the guy, which is sad to say in itself. The reason I say it with confidence, and like how you said, is due to the fact that if someone hits cops in an obvious attempt to hit them, or try to hit them, lethal force will be authorized, as he is not only now putting the normal people at risk, he is also putting officers at risk.

I'm into my tenth year with mine - 238/80 hybrid injectors with supporting aftermarket mods and I tell you its not a sloach. It has its fair shair of "shortcoming" from factory like there isn't any sway bar in the rear, soft leaf springs in front, transmission are a weak link when towing at its max and the HEUI injection system if not maintained properly ( 5000 miles oil changes) could take out your injectors ($ 1600 - 3200 plus ) They are easy to get close to 500 horse with injectors, intake, turbo, tune, fuel and exhaust. 2000 models have forged rods and 2001 have PMR- rods, You can remove the plug close the oilcooler and have the engine guts inspected to see what rods you have or you can look up the engine number in order to tell.
They are loud, especially the seven3 is loud and if you are running bigger injectors like single shots - its louder than loud. Fuel economy is greate compared to weight and size.
Mine are getting 19-21mpg highway and everything between 12mpg and upwards depending load and fun factor. Fun factor in a Excursion you say - well mine is fun. Its fun when you are at the hardware picking up five 120mm X 240mm wood or plasterboard and they ask if you need to use they're trailer....and you just open its guts up from behind and start loading :-)
This vehicle only have two enemies - rust and government. Both trying they're best to shut it down.
If you are into a fair review - have a look at Daniel Jaegers "300,000 Mile 7.3 Excursion Review". It gives a decent picture of what theese vehicles are capable of.

Definitely a work truck that can be worked hard. Don't understand why anyone would want one as a daily pleasure driver, but some do. I wasn't aware that Excursion had rear "Dutch Doors". Fantastic if you find yourself working out of the back of your truck. Nobody has put those on a vehicle since the GM Astros and Sarfaris were discontinued in 2005.

Dear Tyler, LOVE THE VIDEOS! This one felt like it was made for me! I have a family of 7 including an 11 year old boy, 9 year old girl, 2 year old girl and new born twins. ( my wife and I too) OUR TWINS were the ones born in 2 different decades you might have heard about! We actually have kids born in 3 different decades! I am currently driving a 2005 F250 crew cab and don't have room for everyone anymore! Please consider selling me your super clean 7.3 Excursion! Unfortunately all of the Excursions around here are in rusty condition and those 7.3's "buses" bring ridiculous prices. Thanks again for all the great content! Ben.
