@@yekit485 I bought a 32” 4K screen this year (for about £600), thinking the extra screen real estate would be helpful. And it is… some of the time.
But, often I realise that I don’t need quite that much space. If I have one web page open, I don’t need a whole screen’s worth of white space on either side of the content. And I find it weird having my desktop visible if I don’t maximise windows. (Just not used to it, I guess).
I now reckon the 27” 5K Studio Display would be the perfect size and resolution, and I like how minimal it would be, not needing desktop speakers as extra clutter on the desk. (I’m not an audiophile).
I don’t need its color-accuracy or resolution, particularly, as a coder rather than a “creative”.
And I know the Studio Display isn’t perfect. Its ridiculous, expensive, stand options, the non-user-detachable power cable… It’s definitely over-engineered.
It’s definitely a luxury item rather than a need. But it’s a great solution for first-worlders who don’t crave an ultrawide.

This is a productivity set up. I use it to make money. You should consider getting it too if it fits your needs.

Can't see how a 27 inch thick bezeled monitor can be an upgrade compared to a 34 inch curved and slim bezeled monitor. If i had the first monitor it wouldn't even cross my mind to consider the 27 inch.

60hz is fine. Your eyes dont even see that fast. I have two side monitors set to 60hz (they both go higher ones 144 and the other is 100) you can't tell a difference if you are just internet browsing, Watching videos, work etc. Only my main monitor is set to 165 for gaming.

Nobody can beat Apple displays, period. I know Apple sources Samsung for their tech sometimes but it’s a combo of apple’s neural tech and Samsungs screen tech that combine into why apple’s screens are the greatest in the world.

My sister switched from 2 screens to this and honestly it’s just beautiful. I know many laugh about 60hz but surprisingly the way it was designed even in games it feels like you get a clean 75hz and games that are more fast pace or FPS you don’t really notice a stutter despite it being 60hz. And that’s that I’m use to 144hz on my gaming setup.

I am a video editor and I run a agency. And as of now, we personally have 3 Samsung ultrawide monitors and 2 of the above Apple monitors. Each of them costing around $1500. And as of my review, what I have seen is Samsung is more reliable, is more efficient, and has bright display. And gives me a better quality display over Apple displays. And also the curved monitor helps me a lot while checking my eye health, while the Apple just has a huge flaw in this department. But as being a video editor, what I see the most is the contrast and the thickness of the monitors or the displays which I use. And coming to that point, Samsung has better color gamut over Apple and has more reliability over Apple.Also the bezels look shit. So just keeping that in my brain, I am giving all you these points. And also as being a past user of Samsung and Apple both displays, don't switch from Samsung to Apple. It's better to stay with Samsung. And I am not a hater of Apple, I personally use an iPhone. So it's just a recommendation, not a throwback to Apple.

@@ToolsElectroDIYyou should have gotten the Samsung viewfinity s9 instead, it comes with a height adjustable stand, has the same build quality, way smaller bezels 99% P3, 4K, a 4K webcam built in, 96W passthrough charging via usb C, has its own OS so it also has all the smart TV features. That is it still only has 60hz and single zone backlight which is a complete blunder for both of them here.
There’s also the LG ultrafine which has 75hz and 5k with hdr 600 support 98% p3.
I have it too and it works very well with my Linux laptop as well. I like the Studio Display even more than the Pro Display XDR.

4K pixels in 86” needs at least 1-1.5m of viewing distance to prevent eye strain. You’re packing 5K in 27inch. That’s more than double the ppi. Plus the viewing angle is pretty much 180 degrees withiut any color or quality difference

I think the biggest thing going for the display is that it uses the same color grade as almost every other apple so it’s easy for creators to make a reliable color correction when most people uses an apple

Funny how a lot of people mad about the refresh rate. Man's literally said "studio display setup". Im gonna assume that his old monitor was 34" Samsung Odyssey G5. Its resolution is 1440p at 34". The pixel density and color accuracy is nowhere close to a 5K 27" display. Display color accuracy and pixel density is more important for a studio/ editing related work 😂😂

I just purchased the ASD and I am disappointed. I will be returning it. Standard model is too reflective and stands about an inch too high for me. I have an older Cinema Display that I love and it has a nonreflective screen. Just much better quality and it was much cheaper. The cost of the ASD is way too high for what you get, IMHO

I have a 49" ultra wide, same resolution as 2x 1080p screens and for me thats a sweet spot for productivity as I work in cysec, so 'no bezel twin screen' works perfect for me. For gaming, my laptop has a 144hz panel.

Once I went to 144-165hz monitor, I couldnt justify going back to a 60hz screen. Should have bought the new oled 34 inch monitors, its as good or even better image quality than that overpriced display

I had this monitor and if you are a Mac user, this is a razer sharp text, x2 sharper than 4k. Once you try this monitor, you can’t go back to 4k. Also, you CAN play games on it, even cs go with unlocked fps, it would feel like ips 120hz

Yes you can game on any monitor for sure, and if you unlock the fps cap, the game would feel snappier on any 60hz monitor. In anyway motion rendering won't be as smooth as a comparable 120hz monitor.
Other than gaming, this monitor is great for creator.
i bought two studio displays, highly costly, but they look so nice and I know I will not run into any issues with my macs!

If you are fine with 60hz then i guess it could work. This monitor is probably amazing for work related things/colour correction and such. But for gaming? Ehh, if there's a thing where higher refresh rate shines, its gaming. And in games you dont need the same colour accuracy since you are not working media on it, while in work that colour accuracy can be a significant difference in the output of your result. In games, the higher refresh rate becomes much better and actually provides advantages both in responsivness, and ejoyment of the game.

I almost never dislike videos on youtube, but I’ve had to dislike this one. The reviewer is clearly biased towards Apple, and has replied to nearly every comment in this section with pointless statements such as “why,” then once he gets an answer, he fails to acknowledge it, and proceeds to answer other comments pointing out the same problems. This is not a good way to engage with your viewers, you should just be honest about your mistakes, instead of being too proud to admit it.
In relation to the monitor itself, I think Apple has made a decent monitor, but it's not good enough, and for price they are asking it's ridiculous to consider. There are monitors available that are way better for colour accuracy and editing photos, such as monitors from BenQ, Asus, Dell, and even LG. If you are a gamer, then you could very much buy any high end gaming monitor at that price point.
Nobody should be forced to submit themselves to branding, it's shameful.

I'm also a ui/ux designer but I prefer higher refresh rate over little more accurate colors. Nobody cares if you're 1% less color accurate in daily life but my eyes care for 165hz smoothness in daily work.

@ToolsElectroDIY _exactly my point too._ All the kids are really worried about bezel size and whether it’s 120hz. 60hz is already fast for our brain processing speed, and if you’re gaming 120hz is not going to load at the full 120 FPS unless you have great internet. However, as an Apple fan, the one thing I do agree on with other people is that for the insane price of their monitor, they should at least offer superior refresh rates.

As a 3:2 and 21:9 video editor I will stay on ultrawide monitor all day long, still it’s a good display for macs

This is actually my first YT comment ever. I had the XDR display and was very happy, unfortunately it broke repeatedly and Apple wouldn't replace it. At some point I got the Studio Display, first with a stand and then switched to Vera Mount for flexibility. It annoys me how Apple artificially forces someone to decide in advance. As someone who is involved in design and development and only sometimes plays games, 60Hz is perfectly fine. The people who can manage 120Hz in today's games on this resolution should also have the small change for a gaming monitor. It's called a Studio Display for a reason. Of course I think the XDR is better, just because of the color reproduction, the similar black as Oled, brighter display and also generally more beautiful. Anyway, I still like the Studio Display, I would just like better black levels and better brightness. The XDR remains my favorite but the Studio is definitely a big update to the screen you have before it. And yes the bezels are thicker, even than the bezels of the XDR display but I'm looking at the screen lol and not the bezels. Is it worth the price? Well that decision is personal. Anyway that was a long comment, have fun with that display!

A lot of hardcore gamers right here hating on 60hz monitor lol, this is a studio display. Definitely an upgrade for creator. Because flat panel have better brightness uniformity than a curved panel, you have to sit on the sweet spot with curved panel to get the best color and brightness uniformity which is bad for color grading.
