I personally think Stoaliz is ruining Helluva Boss. It all started with simple demons going to the humans world to k!ll people, and now it’s just a bad romance. The plot of Helluva Boss is all over the place because it has no plot. There is no goal for the characters to achieve. Characters that need the development (Cough, Millie, Cough) are sidelined always for Blitzø and Stolas’ toxic relationship. Same thing with Huskerdust. They don’t have anything in common besides them selling their souls to Overlords. Husker clearly has interest in Angel and continuously tries to seduce him through the first few episodes (Including the Pilot). The worst part about these ships is that there is always one person in the party that is constantly playing the victim. Helluva Boss has Stolas, who acts like Blitzø is entirely in the wrong while he did nothing. Then Angel Dust acts like his problems are the most important thing in the world, as if nobody else actually understands what he’s going through even though he KNOWS that’s not true. I’m still confused by LGTBQ+ ships can get away with anything, but if it’s a Straight relationship *THEN* do people put their foot down. However, if it’s a Gay relationship that have a toxic relationship it’s fine. Like WTH? P.S. Sorry for the Rant
@@LepocalypseLB i would say that lgbt ships tend to be more toxic and get away with more because its in his "infancy", in a media way. Straight ships at first tend to get away with more in the begining of times because there wasnt a focus in making a good healthy relationship between the characters, just to make them a couple, that´s why many famous straight couples of movies and series from older times were so much more toxic, because it was less discussed and less talk about it(Also, a lot of romantizantion and normalization of things). Now we have a lot more of healthy straights couples because it was discussed and people talked about it. LGBTQ+ ships area more or less in that area, at first people where happy because of LGBTQ+ represetation, and rightfully so! But, the happines for represatation kinda of blinded us from seeing if it was even a good couple in the first place. In many years to come probably there will be more caution in making relationships, straight or queer, healthier(if the goal is to make a good couple that is worth rooting for)

Im a straight girl, and one of the first red flags i noticed while watching Helluva Boss is that Blitz seems very uncomfortable with Stolas "flirting" with him. I didn't think much until way later into the series.

Writing a character like Blitz feels like treading a very fine and sensitive line. I think the idea behind the apparent discomfort is Blitz's fear of intimacy and maybe even resentment of something that he views as mockery. Is it well done? No lol but i can at least see the intention

It happens to both sexies across the board, and I even made it a serious plot point in one of my stories. The trauma lingers with the victim (mineta) and the accused (midnight), even when both try to move on. And no, I don't ship them at all. They each have their own lives and support groups but still can't unsee the incident.

She was found in the lowest moment of her life by Charlie, love at first sight, total dependency in a split second. Helluverse fans are honestly so hypocritical. They quickly point out heterosexual abusive/unhealthy relationships, like the one between Stella and Stolas, yet often ignore the problems that plague many of the gay relationships in the shows. Angel constantly sexually harassed the male main characters, specifically Husk, and everybody found it ''cute'' or excused it because he was hypersexual. But if Husk was a woman, almost all the fans would be calling Angel creepy and disgusting for what he did. Same with Stolitz, if Blitz was a woman, people would not be trying to justify and downplay the terrible things Stolas has done to him. Angel pawing at Husk and constantly making unwanted sexual remarks bothers the hell out of me. I'm glad Vaggie points out that it's sexual harassment, but it's still played off as a joke most of the time. I relate to Husk as someone who hates being touched (which is the result of childhood sexual trauma in my case), and he has a lot more patience with Angel's nonsense than I would. I probably would've stabbed Angel in the eye if he kept acting like that towards me. Imagine how hard-hitting it would've have been if, instead of revealing that he used to be an Overlord, Husk was also a SA victim and that's why he hates Angel's constant boundary pushing. Then Angel would have a moment of clarity and realize that he has subconsciously been mimicking Val, who also disrespects others boundaries. He spends so much time with Val that his behavior is starting to rub off on him. I think it'd be a neat parallel between someone who copes with sexual trauma by avoiding physical contact and someone who copes by being hypersexual. Also, as the video mentions, being hypersexual does NOT give you a free pass to put your grubby mitts on someone without permission, nor does it make it okay for you to make them uncomfortable with constant flirting and sex talk. Your comment is exactly why I’m a big advocate for writers not writing about serious traumas they haven’t personally experienced, at least not without a proper sensitivity consultant involved. Your rewrite actually gives narrative justification for the inclusion of SA in Angel’s backstory, as the “loser baby” scene really could’ve worked exactly the same if Angel’s issue was just substance abuse, there’s a lot more thematic correlations between a gambling addiction and alcohol/drug addiction. It’s both inaccurate and insensitive to conflate those addictions to a SA survivor developing hypersexuality and using it to self harm (which is what Angel was trying to do by intentionally accepting a spiked drink). If the story wanted to draw the parallel to the experience of signing away their souls it totally failed as we got no insight into Husk’s experiences of it, only his life prior to it. The writing of this show is just so frustrating bad… Right now it feels like Angel’s history with SA only exists to be fetishised “whumpee” trauma p*rn. When you look at the Hazbin’s story as a whole, there’s very little narrative or thematic relevance to Angel and Valentino’s plotline beyond a painfully generic “hell is bad”, which in actuality undermines the story’s intended thematic premise about the redeemablity of sinners. Also, your scene idea would actually give narrative justification to depicting Angel crossing boundaries and sexually harassing Husk all the time. Presently, the story has no justification for it beyond gross fan service/toxic ship teasing. Viv’s defenders will rationalise its inclusion due to Angel’s past, but the fact is ALL elements of a story are meant to be deliberate and serve a PURPOSE, which that behaviour didn’t, especially considering it has no relevance or pay off in the “loser baby” scene. It wasn’t even addressed as an issue! It gets dropped entirely. The fact so many fans will use the “but he’s hypersexual!” defence is emblematic of how harmful bad SA survivor rep can be (and again, emblematic of how writers without personal experience do more harm than good when they try to write about this subject), the audience has learned the horrible lesson that “trauma excuses bad behaviour” instead of the more important and complex lesson your scene idea would’ve taught them instead.
The plot of apology tour is basically like if in that bar scene in hazbin husk was portrayed as in wrong for kind of yelling at angel and angel faced no responsibility for his harrasment whatsoever. Which is almost what happens but still

AP is just the writers being like "We need to show that Blitzø is an asshole who ruins life’s, but like REALLY show it" I’ve heard that it was written years ago, but it feels so weird and lazy that it really feels like a last minute decision, and what’s worse is that it doesn’t even make sense If Blitzø is someone who doesn’t believe he can be loved, why would he be in so many meaningful relationships, besides why would that many people wanna date Blitzø is he’s such an ahole 🙈.
We need an episode like this where Stolas realizes where he's wrong, but it's more about him deprogramming classism. Actually we need an entire arc dedicated to Stolas realizing how classist he is.
That scene where Angel Dust throws the broken bottle at Husk and is like "You'd be lucky if I came onto you!" feels like a villain rant to me. Like this is something an R-Rated Gaston would do to Belle after she rejected him. Scenes like that don't make me pity Angel Dust or want him to get better, they make me think *"Wow. This guy is a fucking asshole. I want to see him get the shit beat out of him because he's using his own pain as an excuse to hurt someone else."* That's what villains do. Angel Dust is not a victim in that scene, in that scene he's a villain.
To be fair on angel dust... he IS trying to get out of his contract. It doesn't excuse his behavior but the abuse and drugs he's on DO explain why he's the type to be chaotic and unpredictable. He has to take alot so he covers up that pain in hyper sexual tendencies [a real thing. People in rl who have been sexually abused are more likely to be more sexual or not at all.] Husk should be terrified but no one terrifies an ex overlord more than Alistor. So what Angel does only makes him mad at most and disgusted but not scared. Angel even showed a normal side to him for once when he finally let his walls down around Husk and against when he stood up against the blind moth bastard. Angel is deliberately written this way because it fits for what he's gone through and what people in abused relationships/growing up in those scenarios had to deal with. Angel's Hypersexuality has been criticised by many actual people who are themselves Hypersexual for being a poor representation of their condition. The problem is that Angel's acts of sexually harassing Husk are played for laughs. It only becomes a source of drama when Angel is called out, before that it's meant to be funny.

If the show wants us to take his condition seriously it does a very poor job of it. Many actual people who struggle with Hypersexuality have criticised Angel Dust's depiction as being an offensive stereotype that does not realistically portray the condition. A good chunk of the story plays it off like a funny character quirk and not the serious mental illness that it is. Husk's feelings shouldn't be downplayed because he is a victim of Angel Dust's acts of sexual harassment, just because the show mostly plays his disgust for laughs shouldn't be used to downplay what he's subjected to. There is another, equally terrible aspect to this as well. If Angel or Stolas was a woman, when people would talk about male Blitzo or Husk, people would be saying "I wish that were me" or "Man, they really are lucky". I don't watch much anime, but I know this is a huge problem when it comes to female on male gr*pe becase the female is always hot in anime, and a lot of time, the scene is framed to sexualize the female, which takes attention off how terrible the thing actually happening is. And of course, everyone is apalled when it's a man doing it to a woman. It really is sad how people just act like it's a quirky thing, but ONLY when it's in a gay relationship.

I think I'd be able to enjoy huskerdust if Angel faced the consequences and admitted to being a creep, apologized and genuinely tried to be a better person. Then it could start as a slow burn, with Husker taking his time forgiving Angel - that's how it should be, if at all. Sometimes when I forget all the horrible things Angel said and did to Husk I actually find the pairing sort of cute, but I definitely won't be if Viv continues to write it as it is right now.

Let's work out a compromise for the HuskerDust shippers. How about this? Angel realises what he's done to Husk, apologies, does his best to make up for it and always asks consent or makes sure Husk is okay when he tries anything romantic. Husk appreciates his efforts, but after the hurt and assault he can't just forgive him and fall in love. Angel understands, though a little frustrated (like anyone would be if rejected) and they stay close friends who help eachother. Angel still has some romantic feelings for Husk, but doesnt act on them, and Husk eventually admits his feelings in the future. Though excited, Angel and Husk take it slowly and always make sure the other one is comfortable before doing anything, and they both set some boundaries in place. There. Sound good?

The biggest problem with these two ships is how forced they feel as hell, it's not even a "slow-burn". Blitzø, Stolas and Angel should learn to be single instead of dating right away, or whatever.
mostly because it was a last minute decision. until around around season 2 stolas was intended to be an antagonist but because brandon thought they'd be a cute ship they did a hard turn on the writing. so stolas was being written as an antagonist and then hard stopped to be written as a protagonist.

When the writing suddenly flips from antagonistic to positive, it undermines the character's foundation, making it feel like a worse toxic then it would have been if he was just a bad guy. If he had been written positively from the start, we’d likely see him differently. But those early predatory lines wouldn’t exist if he were truly a protagonist, and that inconsistency makes it feel wrong.

He could start by treating Blitz condescendingly as a privileged, snooty character, doing as he pleases. Over time, he’d realize he’s developing genuine feelings-a struggle for him, as he’s never experienced real romantic attachment, causing him to fall into it clumsily and mishandle his emotions. which could lead to a similar fall out in the show that makes more sense for how toxically its handled. there needs to be emphasis on all the flaws. stolas first most needs to be a antagonist who's hitting his internal conflict but not turning on a dime. and even then i don't think they'd be good together after any revelations. there needs to be time of being single to work out all that baggage. go to therapy moment.
There's this show, Euphoria (HBO max). The character Cassie Howard kinda reminds me of Angel Dust, they both seek for male validation, have daddy issues, hypers3xual and instantly play the victim once they're called out for their actions.
Absolutely hate Huskerdust as a romantic ship. Just because two men get along, it doesn't mean they have to date and fall in love. Husk has repeatedly shown multiple times that he is uncomfortable with Angel's advancements. And it's upsetting that viv has stated they are a slow burn couple.
This is why I'd have much preferred it if Huskerdust had remained a purely platonic ship myself! Imo, l think Stolitz is a mutually shitty relationship. I think they both treat each other badly, and we should stop trying to say who's worse, because they both messed up. I admit, l used to ship them, but now I'm just relieved whenever I see an episode that's not Stolitz centered. Since l know Viv is desperate to make them canon, l think first we need to have Stolas actually realise how badly he treated Blitz, because Blitz himself is already self-aware of what he's done. Stolas however, is not. And l wish I could say it's because he's so sheltered and deeply unaware of how his actions affect others, or how the real world works, which would make him a lot less unbearable, and also make a lot of sense, but for whatever reason, Viv seems desperate to make him and Angel incapable of facing consequences, which sucks.

I think that people don't dismiss these toxic behaviours in lgbtq relationships in Media because they reinforced negative stereotypes that people tend to favour, like "man can't possibly be victims of sexual assault" or romanticising and fetishizing gay relationships for the sake of their own twisted fantasies and desire. This is especially harmful when LGBT people and youth use these toxic queer relationships as an example for how queer relationships are supposed to function 💔. In this community I have observed that the people who have problems with how Vivienne writes characters manly tend to be queer people whale people who defend these walking homosexual OwO stereotypes are mostly "allies" and the small minority. These tend to be the same allies that won't let you speak a single criticism towards the show without proving to them that you have either been sexually assaulted or that you yourself are gay ("gay enough"). When I was in middle school I was friends with a guy who watched Helluva, and he treated me similarly to how Stolas treats Blitz. Constantly making comments about my body like asking me how much I weigh, my bra size, and telling his other friend how bad he wanted to see me without clothes (which I only know because one of my friends overheard their loud conversation and told me), but me, being autistic and lonely, accepted it as normal behavior because that’s what I was taught by the show. He tried to ask me out multiple times when we were friends, and I repeatedly told him that I was not interested in a relationship because I’m aroace and not in a good headspace (which was due to his comments) but he still pushed himself onto me quite literally. My friend was talking about him, since he moved before high school, couple months ago and turned to me to tell me that “He was an asshole to you, (name). I’m not sure why you stayed as long as you did” and when I asked what was wrong they listed everything he did that they knew of, and something clicked in my head. I realized that he wasn’t treating me right despite how I felt about it, and I soon realized how bad the show portrayed these relationships (whether it’s romantic or not). Everything he did to me was pushed away because I was queer so it “didn’t count” if a man harassed me even if I’m noticeably AFAB and because he had a bad home life. I’m sorry to anyone whose experience was worse than mine with these people, and some people need to know that this is not healthy, not matter the gender of the people involved.

I've said it before and I'll scream it into the void a thousand times: STOLAS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MAIN ANTAGONIST, at least for season one. I already commented this exact thing on another post, but holy shit I have to say it again. They uwu-ified him way too early, he could've been a really cool antagonist if he'd remained a savvy, holier-than-thou thorn in Blitz's side. Blitz would be stuck in the relationship because of his business needing Stolas's book, and Stolas would be a total jerk who knows he's shamelessly extorting Blitz. Then, if the writers REALLY wanted do a romantic spin on it (idk why but ok), they could have Stolas slowly realizing that he's got feelings for Blitz but being way too proud to admit it, then eventually realizing just how shitty he's been and asking for forgiveness, then working on himself and trying to change. Then bam, the relationship is a slow burn while still being an entertaining trashfire. When you think about it, they kinda accidentally engineered Stolas into the perfect foil for Blitz (a scrappy, lower class small business owner vs his high-society piece of shit angel investor) and then fumbled it by immediately diving headfirst into shipping town.
I think it's less that they're gay and more that it's being done to a man, especially a masculine man. As I'm sure you know male victims aren't taken nearly as seriously as their female counterparts. People going as far to day things like "lucky" and "good for you". I can't drop any sources off the top of my head do take this with a grain of salt obviously.

I personally think Stoaliz is ruining Helluva Boss. It all started with simple demons going to the humans world to k!ll people, and now it’s just a bad romance.
The plot of Helluva Boss is all over the place because it has no plot. There is no goal for the characters to achieve. Characters that need the development (Cough, Millie, Cough) are sidelined always for Blitzø and Stolas’ toxic relationship.
Same thing with Huskerdust. They don’t have anything in common besides them selling their souls to Overlords. Husker clearly has interest in Angel and continuously tries to seduce him through the first few episodes (Including the Pilot).
The worst part about these ships is that there is always one person in the party that is constantly playing the victim. Helluva Boss has Stolas, who acts like Blitzø is entirely in the wrong while he did nothing. Then Angel Dust acts like his problems are the most important thing in the world, as if nobody else actually understands what he’s going through even though he KNOWS that’s not true.
I’m still confused by LGTBQ+ ships can get away with anything, but if it’s a Straight relationship *THEN* do people put their foot down. However, if it’s a Gay relationship that have a toxic relationship it’s fine.

@@LepocalypseLB i would say that lgbt ships tend to be more toxic and get away with more because its in his "infancy", in a media way. Straight ships at first tend to get away with more in the begining of times because there wasnt a focus in making a good healthy relationship between the characters, just to make them a couple, that´s why many famous straight couples of movies and series from older times were so much more toxic, because it was less discussed and less talk about it(Also, a lot of romantizantion and normalization of things). Now we have a lot more of healthy straights couples because it was discussed and people talked about it. LGBTQ+ ships area more or less in that area, at first people where happy because of LGBTQ+ represetation, and rightfully so! But, the happines for represatation kinda of blinded us from seeing if it was even a good couple in the first place. In many years to come probably there will be more caution in making relationships, straight or queer, healthier(if the goal is to make a good couple that is worth rooting for)

@ I personally enjoy billford, but not because I think it can work out. I find their dynamic to be interesting, and I think it’s far more enjoyable compared to stolitz, where the abuse is directly praised and romanticized the creators (along with many fans).

In the case of stolitz however the writers seem to just genuinely be unaware of the fact the relationship is super abusive. Stolitz is advertised as “a couple which has problems” and not “a couple which experiences sexual coercion and abuse”, leading to poor writing and glamorization

Angel constantly sexually harassed the male main characters, specifically Husk, and everybody found it ''cute'' or excused it because he was hypersexual. But if Husk was a woman, almost all the fans would be calling Angel creepy and disgusting for what he did. Same with Stolitz, if Blitz was a woman, people would not be trying to justify and downplay the terrible things Stolas has done to him. Angel pawing at Husk and constantly making unwanted sexual remarks bothers the hell out of me. I'm glad Vaggie points out that it's sexual harassment, but it's still played off as a joke most of the time.
I relate to Husk as someone who hates being touched (which is the result of childhood sexual trauma in my case), and he has a lot more patience with Angel's nonsense than I would. I probably would've stabbed Angel in the eye if he kept acting like that towards me.
Imagine how hard-hitting it would've have been if, instead of revealing that he used to be an Overlord, Husk was also a SA victim and that's why he hates Angel's constant boundary pushing. Then Angel would have a moment of clarity and realize that he has subconsciously been mimicking Val, who also disrespects others boundaries. He spends so much time with Val that his behavior is starting to rub off on him.
I think it'd be a neat parallel between someone who copes with sexual trauma by avoiding physical contact and someone who copes by being hypersexual. Also, as the video mentions, being hypersexual does NOT give you a free pass to put your grubby mitts on someone without permission, nor does it make it okay for you to make them uncomfortable with constant flirting and sex talk. Your comment is exactly why I’m a big advocate for writers not writing about serious traumas they haven’t personally experienced, at least not without a proper sensitivity consultant involved. Your rewrite actually gives narrative justification for the inclusion of SA in Angel’s backstory, as the “loser baby” scene really could’ve worked exactly the same if Angel’s issue was just substance abuse, there’s a lot more thematic correlations between a gambling addiction and alcohol/drug addiction.
It’s both inaccurate and insensitive to conflate those addictions to a SA survivor developing hypersexuality and using it to self harm (which is what Angel was trying to do by intentionally accepting a spiked drink). If the story wanted to draw the parallel to the experience of signing away their souls it totally failed as we got no insight into Husk’s experiences of it, only his life prior to it. The writing of this show is just so frustrating bad…
Right now it feels like Angel’s history with SA only exists to be fetishised “whumpee” trauma p*rn. When you look at the Hazbin’s story as a whole, there’s very little narrative or thematic relevance to Angel and Valentino’s plotline beyond a painfully generic “hell is bad”, which in actuality undermines the story’s intended thematic premise about the redeemablity of sinners.
Also, your scene idea would actually give narrative justification to depicting Angel crossing boundaries and sexually harassing Husk all the time. Presently, the story has no justification for it beyond gross fan service/toxic ship teasing.
Viv’s defenders will rationalise its inclusion due to Angel’s past, but the fact is ALL elements of a story are meant to be deliberate and serve a PURPOSE, which that behaviour didn’t, especially considering it has no relevance or pay off in the “loser baby” scene. It wasn’t even addressed as an issue! It gets dropped entirely.
The fact so many fans will use the “but he’s hypersexual!” defence is emblematic of how harmful bad SA survivor rep can be (and again, emblematic of how writers without personal experience do more harm than good when they try to write about this subject), the audience has learned the horrible lesson that “trauma excuses bad behaviour” instead of the more important and complex lesson your scene idea would’ve taught them instead.
The plot of apology tour is basically like if in that bar scene in hazbin husk was portrayed as in wrong for kind of yelling at angel and angel faced no responsibility for his harrasment whatsoever.

Angel's Hypersexuality has been criticised by many actual people who are themselves Hypersexual for being a poor representation of their condition.
The problem is that Angel's acts of sexually harassing Husk are played for laughs. It only becomes a source of drama when Angel is called out, before that it's meant to be funny.

Husk's feelings shouldn't be downplayed because he is a victim of Angel Dust's acts of sexual harassment, just because the show mostly plays his disgust for laughs shouldn't be used to downplay what he's subjected to.

If Angel or Stolas was a woman, when people would talk about male Blitzo or Husk, people would be saying "I wish that were me" or "Man, they really are lucky". I don't watch much anime, but I know this is a huge problem when it comes to female on male gr*pe becase the female is always hot in anime, and a lot of time, the scene is framed to sexualize the female, which takes attention off how terrible the thing actually happening is. And of course, everyone is apalled when it's a man doing it to a woman. It really is sad how people just act like it's a quirky thing, but ONLY when it's in a gay relationship.

I’ve seen it many times before, especially in the case of Stolitz with this fandom. Just because a relationship features two characters of the same gender, it isn’t automatically the best, healthiest choice to be rooting for. A gay relationship can be toxic just like how a straight relationship can be toxic. Some people are terrible and their orientation shouldn’t excuse them of that.

How about this? Angel realises what he's done to Husk, apologies, does his best to make up for it and always asks consent or makes sure Husk is okay when he tries anything romantic. Husk appreciates his efforts, but after the hurt and assault he can't just forgive him and fall in love. Angel understands, though a little frustrated (like anyone would be if rejected) and they stay close friends who help eachother. Angel still has some romantic feelings for Husk, but doesnt act on them, and Husk eventually admits his feelings in the future. Though excited, Angel and Husk take it slowly and always make sure the other one is comfortable before doing anything, and they both set some boundaries in place. There. Sound good?

The biggest problem with these two ships is how forced they feel as hell, it's not even a "slow-burn". Blitzø, Stolas and Angel should learn to be single instead of dating right away, or whatever.
mostly because it was a last minute decision. until around around season 2 stolas was intended to be an antagonist but because brandon thought they'd be a cute ship they did a hard turn on the writing. so stolas was being written as an antagonist and then hard stopped to be written as a protagonist.

When the writing suddenly flips from antagonistic to positive, it undermines the character's foundation, making it feel like a worse toxic then it would have been if he was just a bad guy. If he had been written positively from the start, we’d likely see him differently. But those early predatory lines wouldn’t exist if he were truly a protagonist, and that inconsistency makes it feel wrong.

He could start by treating Blitz condescendingly as a privileged, snooty character, doing as he pleases. Over time, he’d realize he’s developing genuine feelings-a struggle for him, as he’s never experienced real romantic attachment, causing him to fall into it clumsily and mishandle his emotions. which could lead to a similar fall out in the show that makes more sense for how toxically its handled. there needs to be emphasis on all the flaws. stolas first most needs to be a antagonist who's hitting his internal conflict but not turning on a dime. and even then i don't think they'd be good together after any revelations. there needs to be time of being single to work out all that baggage. go to therapy moment.

I admit, l used to ship them, but now I'm just relieved whenever I see an episode that's not Stolitz centered.
Since l know Viv is desperate to make them canon, l think first we need to have Stolas actually realise how badly he treated Blitz, because Blitz himself is already self-aware of what he's done. Stolas however, is not.
And l wish I could say it's because he's so sheltered and deeply unaware of how his actions affect others, or how the real world works, which would make him a lot less unbearable, and also make a lot of sense, but for whatever reason, Viv seems desperate to make him and Angel incapable of facing consequences, which sucks.

I think that people don't dismiss these toxic behaviours in lgbtq relationships in Media because they reinforced negative stereotypes that people tend to favour, like "man can't possibly be victims of sexual assault" or romanticising and fetishizing gay relationships for the sake of their own twisted fantasies and desire.
This is especially harmful when LGBT people and youth use these toxic queer relationships as an example for how queer relationships are supposed to function 💔.

When I was in middle school I was friends with a guy who watched Helluva, and he treated me similarly to how Stolas treats Blitz. Constantly making comments about my body like asking me how much I weigh, my bra size, and telling his other friend how bad he wanted to see me without clothes (which I only know because one of my friends overheard their loud conversation and told me), but me, being autistic and lonely, accepted it as normal behavior because that’s what I was taught by the show. He tried to ask me out multiple times when we were friends, and I repeatedly told him that I was not interested in a relationship because I’m aroace and not in a good headspace (which was due to his comments) but he still pushed himself onto me quite literally. My friend was talking about him, since he moved before high school, couple months ago and turned to me to tell me that “He was an asshole to you, (name). I’m not sure why you stayed as long as you did” and when I asked what was wrong they listed everything he did that they knew of, and something clicked in my head. I realized that he wasn’t treating me right despite how I felt about it, and I soon realized how bad the show portrayed these relationships (whether it’s romantic or not). Everything he did to me was pushed away because I was queer so it “didn’t count” if a man harassed me even if I’m noticeably AFAB and because he had a bad home life. I’m sorry to anyone whose experience was worse than mine with these people, and some people need to know that this is not healthy, not matter the gender of the people involved.

When I was working at CFA, a man came up to me and I thought he needed help...he said no and tried asking for my number and I declined because I find that unprofessional in a workplace setting and his response was "Really? Because your are seriously missing out. You're gonna regret this!" And left. My managers were around and asked if I was ok because they were about to call security. (My manager was a girl-dad too and he don't play) I said I was ok and they switched me from cashier to bagging just to be sure but like seriously?! I've said it before and I'll scream it into the void a thousand times: STOLAS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MAIN ANTAGONIST, at least for season one. I already commented this exact thing on another post, but holy shit I have to say it again. They uwu-ified him way too early, he could've been a really cool antagonist if he'd remained a savvy, holier-than-thou thorn in Blitz's side. Blitz would be stuck in the relationship because of his business needing Stolas's book, and Stolas would be a total jerk who knows he's shamelessly extorting Blitz.
Then, if the writers REALLY wanted do a romantic spin on it (idk why but ok), they could have Stolas slowly realizing that he's got feelings for Blitz but being way too proud to admit it, then eventually realizing just how shitty he's been and asking for forgiveness, then working on himself and trying to change. Then bam, the relationship is a slow burn while still being an entertaining trashfire.
When you think about it, they kinda accidentally engineered Stolas into the perfect foil for Blitz (a scrappy, lower class small business owner vs his high-society piece of shit angel investor) and then fumbled it by immediately diving headfirst into shipping town.
I think it's less that they're gay and more that it's being done to a man, especially a masculine man. As I'm sure you know male victims aren't taken nearly as seriously as their female counterparts. People going as far to day things like "lucky" and "good for you". I can't drop any sources off the top of my head do take this with a grain of salt obviously.
