  • Thanks for watching. Make sure you have all of the tools and parts ready to go before you start the build. The cranks usually come off really easy. We we unfortunate with my bike. You should rub a small amount of bearring grease on the square crank posts before mounting the new crank arms. We installed a 40T crank sprocket, however I will be installing a 30 tooth in the near future for more uphill power. I've added a few additional items below that I will be installing to help protect the bike and get me to and from the back country safely. Check them out and see what might work for you.

Enjoying the Outdoors while we can is something we should all do. Respect wild places, the wildlife and those who live around it. Allways strive to be self reliant and help others when needs arise. Always extinguish your fires and be aware of elevated fire danger where you camp. Don't be the one that burns down a National Park.
Be alert and Bear Aware. Keep your food and cooking supplies secured at all times. Watch your pets and children. Predators like Bears, Cougars, Wolves and even Coyotes, don't care that you mean them no harm. You are either a threat, or food to them.
Most of all, have fun Outdoors! Just leave it better than you found it. Even if you come home with extra trash you liberated from the bush.

Audio is always the biggest challenge of video. I’m working on it. It just takes money.

Very interested in doing this myself. Couple of questions for you. Do you have plenty of towing power for hauling a deer out of the woods? Also, have you had any issues with the derailleur in the woods or going through tall grasses? Thanks for the video!

Great questions! I have had issues with up hill towing. So I switched my front chainring to a 28 tooth and that fixed the issue. If you shift under pressure it can have catastrophic consequences I did a video showing how I fixed everything after an accidental shift going up hill. ruclips.net/p/PLa64qnmp5Dp4O0ZG_KUDarryKGBdeZ5lq&si=gatqmVVL8Si0hkXR

Perfect! I would imagine those take a beating in the woods. Thanks, I enjoyed all of your videos! How are you liking the Dololmite ALX? That was skso the donor bike i was looking at. Would you recommend it or something else?

@reedkoester8402 I love the bike! It’s surprisingly light for a fat tire. The thing I should have paid attention to when I bought it was the size. I got the 14” frame and should have gotten the 21”. Then the battery would have fit in the frame and not on the rack. I can switch to a 48 volt 15 AH battery and it’ll fit, but I like the power of the big battery.

That makes sense. I was wondering why the battery was on the back rack. I was looking at the Medium frame. I need to get some specs to make sure the big battery will fit. Thanks for the info!

Do you recall whether you used a 100 or 120mm size? I have found a deal on the 100mm size which matches the bottom bracket size.
Do you think offset cranks will clear then chain stay if I stick with the 100mm? Difficult to tell without seeing all of it!

I used the 120 and added a 28 tooth chain ring so could get the most torque for towing a trailer full up hills. Now my max speed is around 20 mph, but it’s a good trade off.

I have found a deal on a 100mm complete setup and think I’m going to give it a shot. About $400 battery and all. 🤞🏻

Make sure you measure your bottom bracket to make sure it fits.
