I payed $4500 for my e-bike, including a very good bike and battery.... I would never consider this, not to mention that the motor is to powerful and it would have to be registered as a motorbike in Norway. That makes it useless as a MTB as motorbikes are not allowed to go off-road expect on approved tracks (very few around, and not made for MTBs)... For modifying a bike to a daily commuter motorbike on the other hand, this could be a good product.
Great looking product. Will need a couple years of competition to bring the price down. A bolt on motor like this at about $500 would be the game changer. At $2750 not many will want to convert and just buy a decent ebike instead.

you don't want center drive anyway, because you would still be pedaling to work. even worse you would be pedaling home. center drive is great for the sport uses of ebikes and the exercize uses, but for commuting unless you want to pedal home or spend a whole bunch more money on a mid drive that works with a "throttle" it isn't as much of a commuting advantage as a rear hub motor.
Well I paid $1600 for a radwagon electric and the amount I've saved on fuel cost, insurance, repair costs and registration has paid for the bike already in less than a year. Only issues I have are the same with all bikes, regular and electric. To much maintenance: tighten the spokes, true the wheel, adjust the brakes, fix the tires. Why? because everything is built from "make it lighter" thinking. So spokes are to light, brakes wear out way to fast, tires are to thin. But in spite of that, I'm not going back to driving a car unless absolutely necessary, because biking is the best way to travel.
@@kght222 lol your in every ebike video trying to push throttled mopeds! People who want throttles don't acutally want to ride a bike. They want a moped they dont have to insure. Pedal assist is for those that like to ride but also lke the help on steep hills and bad weather.

Yeah let me make my bottom bracket 5" lower so I can get launched over the bars when it clips a rock or tree trunk. Also wouldn't the constant tourqe on the motor cause the mounts on the bash guard mounts to pull out of the frame?
I thought that the motor was low at first too but then i realised the motor sits higher than the bottom of the front chainring so you'd catch that first. Also if that motor deforms your bash guard mounts your frame is made from cheese or chinesium and you really should upgrade haha

Common sense 101, If a person can buy a brand new good quality motorcycle like a Honda NC750X for $8,000 there's no way in hell any Mountain bike or any 1500w e-bike should be near $7,000 unless it's made out of gold,platinum,etc......Yes a $7,000 MTN bike is going to be way better than a $250 Schwinn Boundary. I watched a vi yesterday where a college engineer student built this and what he discovered in his tests was that the hub motors were a bit superior to his (drone motor) bike. It got good speed. I think he claimed it hit 42mph but the hub motor bike his friend had did slightly better on take off speed. I also heard those hub motors batteries get recharged when you pedal. Is this how this system's battery works too? Pedaling will charge the battery, or no?

Based on what I'm seeing and the lack of pricing info on the website, I believe I'll stick to the BBSHD that I originally planned on for my upcoming eBike project, it's not that much heavier, it seems to have more torque, it tops out much faster, and you have a full infographic display of your choice that tells you how fast you're going, how much power it's using, what assist mode it's in, and more, among other things. A speedo is required by law for street eBiking as well, so that's a must given that I plan to use it for that purpose as well as trail and path riding. Overall, even the installation procedure for the BBSHD makes more sense to me than the whole "choose your hole" process that the dude had to explain, you stick it in, put the torque plate on, put lock nut on, position and tighten, put top nut on, reassemble crank arms, done.
@@muzzaball That is... *very* expensive compared to other DIY eBike kits, of both hub- and mid-drive type. I think I'm happy with my 500W hubkit, whole thing, battery included, cost about $925 after shipping, and it gets me around town as well as down biking trails, even has enough power to lose grip and kick out on me if I touch it wrong, which has thrown me off more times than I'd like to admit, especially on loose gravel. As a rule if they don’t list MSRP, I will not look any further. Sell me on the reason it is expensive, but don’t put me on another freakin mailing list with that “if ya gotta...” sales pitch.
I decided to ask. And filled out their form. The reply I initially got was more towards my bikes and which one was my favorite. With absolutely no price of their kit. I had to send yet another reply asking specifically for the price. It really seemed like they didn't want to give me a price, otherwise it would have been included in my inquiry. That said, it is $2400 including their $200 holiday promotional discount and less their $100 installation assistance fee because I am able to do it myself. Seems a bit steep if you ask me. There are quite a few videos on RUclips showcasing absolutely nothing in regards to the specs of the motor kit. Only people riding downhill on bikes with it installed. Which shows me nothing all.

There's not going to be too much demand at that price, bear in mind you still have to factor in the cost of a battery pack and some sort of controller. Great idea, but not good value unfortunately.

The trouble with any ebike over about 400w is that the gearing is a compromise between what the motor requires & what the peddler requires. With a single driveline at that sort of power, all the peddling does is flick a switch on the motor, it adds nothing to the power. Really to do this properly one needs 2 drive lines, one on each side. The drive for the peddler will need gearing for both when the the motor is running & the battery is flat meany a really wide range. Where as on the other side one just needs 3 really low gears so the motor really revs, well unless it’s geared down significantly already. They like that. So a take off, intermediate & drive, plus maybe a overdrive for high speed cruising speed.
The motor side plates are 7075 Aluminum which can't be used to make bike frames because it can't be welded. Only machined. We make these in EU, while 99% of conversions are made in asia.
It's very cool and I really really want one but it's far out of my price range. I build entire MTB/BMX hybrid ebikes for about the cost of that kit. I use 48V hub motors (1000W - 2000W) I usually build a new bike every year. I don't necessarily use cheap parts either. I use my bikes for every day transport. They're built to be reliable.

I have the exact same bike as you, even the color scheme. I'm curious to know how this motor placement will affect bottoming out? Have you tried climbing anything chunky with this? Pedal strikes wouldn't really be a concern with the throttle, but slamming that gorgeous motor against the jagged rocks out here would make me cry.
Yeah its always scary to ride any new MTB or eMTB system, but that's what they're built for. Thats true what you say about pedal strikes, few realize what a problem this is when you only have pedal assist and need to climb. On most frames the motor sits higher, even on this frame it sits higher than factory eMTBs. The case is aluminum reinforced carbon sheet and the side plates are 4mm thick machined aircraft aluminum so nothing is going to stop it working. We offering a new skid plate for keeping it pretty
That’s sick!! I plan to put on the wireless eagle shifter and dropper to clean up the front end soon. I haven’t tried any chunky climbs with rocks or anything yet but I will be taking it out this week. I’m going to see the clearance on drops too. I’ll be mounting a camera on my down tube looking at it. 🤘🏽
Around here in VT I'm always bashing my chainring and bottom bracket off stuff. I feel like that motor would be trashed in a heartbeat... At least on my bike.
@@rpiian why dont we try it in the spring? If you want to go for a ride, I'll follow. In the meantime I'll around Mount Snow at the end of Jan for some FS fatbiking - maybe some toughness testing can be made of that. What do you say?? The kit comes with effectively a bashguard, and skid plates can easily be added to fully protect the motor. On most bikes this motor sits several inches higher than the motors on factory e-mountain bikes, that have less sturdy cases, and very expensive frames that would have to be replaced if dented. Frames dent much more easily, and our system could be transfered to the next mountain bike in the garage, or a used frame could be bought at very low cost to a new replacement factory e-MTB frame, where the motor battery and frame are not compatible with anything that doesnt come from the manufacturer.

It’s just a very underrated motor. 😎👍🏻👍🏻
Just did my conversion with bbshd... clocked 26mph on first run... heavy fat tire bike and 200+ lb rider... entire setup under $1700 including the bike. And i think i could have done it $300 cheaper with another motor which was unavailable at the time...

I thought that the motor was low at first too but then i realised the motor sits higher than the bottom of the front chainring so you'd catch that first. Also if that motor deforms your bash guard mounts your frame is made from cheese or chinesium and you really should upgrade haha
Yup my thoughts exactly, you would leave the motor and bits of your frame on the first rock you went over

Exactly. The CYC X1 Stealth is only about $840, but with no battery.
Didn't you see the discounted price of $2750?
@@muzzaball That is... *very* expensive compared to other DIY eBike kits, of both hub- and mid-drive type.
Let's just say, at that price, you can get hubs rated for well over 5kW, and mid drive kits powerful enough to cost that much don't even seem to exist, unless you overdrive the very popular Bafeng BBSHD, which is known for being very able to handle way more than what it's rated to, and still doesn't cost near that much.
Based on the installatiom demonstration and the price, this kit is far from being easy enough to install compared to other mid-drives to justify its price.

@@AMC-eq3jr Hell no, I prefer to be poor.
Stupid pricing and these guys always state "aircraft grade aluminum" 😂🤣😂

What bike mount is on the camaro?
My Seasucker bike rack. 🇺🇸🤘🏽
Hardly an "e-bike killer." More like an "e-bike maker." Headline is a "Huh?"
Do you also do left hand mid drive?
Can this work on a bmx? Mike please make this work on a bmx🙏🏻.
would love to see a vid on this if its possible!
There is a strong possibility of this. Be on the lookout😉
How much for product and shipment to Trinidad and Tobago
This motor sounds like it's got serious power.... I am curious about the voltage of the battery, top speed and torque rating.
Nice build Mike... You are going to love this compared to the Ariel, I can already tell. 😁
Mikes build is 👌
Voltage: 48V
Top speed (no pedalling): 28mph
Torque at crank: 110 Nm
@@ParadoxKinetics - So that's like 20 or 25 ft pounds or something¿?
@@xpndblhero5170
110 Nm / 81 ft-lbs
The regular 750W Factory e-mountain bikes are between 50 - 80 Nm.
Going much over 110 Nm, and MTB chains, cassettes, freewheels, etc, start breaking
@@ParadoxKinetics - Yeah, I'm familiar w/ that probably w/ my mx650 w/ a 2000w motor.... The number 25 chain broke almost instantly. LMAO
@@xpndblhero5170 F
Its a tricky thing to be pushing the limit for years, with out braking anything
How is this better than the 5000-7000w cyc x1 pro gen 2.... ???
Power wheelies!? I need one of those for my bike.
How does it compare to bafang?
I love mtb content. That looks really sick
More Mike, moar!!

What’s the bike mount on the Slomaro? 🙏 Thanks!

Paradox: A statement that, despite apparently valid reasoning from true premises, leads to a seemingly self contradictory or logically unacceptable conclusion. Kinda like trying to convince people to spend thousands of dollars pitching your product while standing in some random parking lot in the middle of winter! Not what you'd call confidence inspiring.
Where can I find this product?
I see what you did there "Bolton E-bike" 🤓
yea its a sick motor but for a grand without the battery you better have some spare change to buy more parts. other than that its definitely a sick piece of kit. and low key as well while most mid drives are pretty obnoxious looking and stick out like a sore thumb. this and the cyc photon and cyc stealth are imo the best mid drive motors all around, thats just as all round though and not in one cateogory like top speed or most torque. they are powereful though and each can get you to 40 mph easy peasy and get my recomendation IF| you have spare change to drop
more videos on this please!! Mike your bike is killer
Thanks bro! More to come!
I use a BBSHD 1500 watts on an old DEAN DH MBT, dead quiet, I sneak up on deer and turkey. BBSHD is heavy though.
You ride a knolly! Good choice👍
Yesss🤙🏽🤙🏽
can this be put on any bike? like a single gear or BMX as well?!
We will soon know😁
I feel like the first jump I’d completely case my bottom bracket and my motor with it lol
I will have a video all about clearance on jumps and rocks soon. 🤘🏽
