idk about Joe but personally at first it's always a bit of a struggle until I get in the zone and stop giving 0 fucks, but best thing you could do If you get noticed is smile and say thank you.
the chest mount camera adds an element of surprise to your video and photo work in my opinion. its always so cool to be watching from your chest and think of what you are going to point your camera at in a scene, yet be happily surprised if it is an image of something completely different than what I was fixating on in the video clip!
I love this series. It's so fun to look try and find the shot before Joe takes it and see how his composition is different from what I envisioned. Incredible work!
Rubenz I’m really curious about this as well. I want to get more into street photography like this but I’m pretty nervous and don’t know how to handle people’s reactions. Kinda wish he included some of that interaction here.
It looks like they are unsure if it’s a photo of them or something else... that’s probably why they don’t say much. When I shot film on a ferry about a month ago, I was shooting another ferry passing by through a window but a girl thought I was taking a pic of her and she covered her face... although she’s nowhere in frame.
If you’re camera looks old enough people are less annoyed than if you’re shooting a digital looking camera in my experience. Also, if you’re young enough you can pretend you’re a student if someone approaches you about it.
I've been practicing street photography for nearly three years, it's depends actually on the place, shooting in new York or USA is way easier than countries like morocco, because people in USA are more used to cameras and also laws are good comparing to third world countries.
Neither am I! I’m from Mesa AZ, but I’m only 17. I’ve been really inspired by @Joe Greer! I’ve invested in myself and bought a Nikon N5005 and a Kodak disponible camera. Keep up the vids!! So good and inspirational
Between you and Paulie B I'm feeling very inspired! Looking forward to trying out my go pro in new york in march thanks to you guys! Thanks for sharing with us man.
Liked the old lady with the sort of square glasses..watched a few of your vids and think this is my favourite. Might be the lovely winter sun. Lighting was in good form.
Just got back from my trip to NYC a few weeks ago. Was there when these last 2 videos were filmed and it's taking me right back seeing all the familiar streets. This is such a great idea - it's really interesting seeing your decision making process, and can't wait to see how they progress. Thanks for sharing!
I'm loving street diaries so far. The chest mount view is like GoldenEye: ioe takes on NYC. It would be interesting to get a little sneak peak through the viewfinder too.
I agree with you, the chest mount perspective is better, and even if we see your Leica in the shot the wide angle of the gopro helps seeing the scene you're photographing. Great video, I love this series.
Love the photo of the lady signaling cabs having trouble deciding whether I like the go pro on camera or chest mount, they’re both great Either way great video
Love it man, I’ve been doing these POV videos as well and it’s just been super therapeutic to just walk around and shoot whatever you want ! Keep it up, making me want to get up and go shoot.
really enjoying the street diaries. also love how chill the subjects are even when you are pointing the camera straight at their face. can't wait for more vids
Really enjoying this series! I think I like the chest mount as opposed to the hotshoe mount. This let's us try to pick out your subject before you shoot!
Love this series, I'm going to New York this March for a school trip, and watching these videos gets me super excited for all of the amazing street photography opportunities! Keep up the amazing photos, you are an inspiration!
hi joe, i want to let you know how inspiring and motivating this series is to me. made me more comfortable with going out and shooting by myself! thanks for putting up such good content!
I’m in NYC right now shooting some film. So cool to see the same areas from your vids in real life, and to see similar scenarios as I’ve seen in real life in your vids. First time commenting on one of your videos, awesome stuff and thank you for the inspiration!!
Hey Joe, I just have a question for you: what do you do with the street photos that you like, do you print them for yourself or are they just becoming a part of the collection? Personally I started printing out my favorite photos and keeping them as physical photos in a notebook. Looking forward to see more videos from you. Have a great day!
Love these videos Joe! Fun to watch you work. One thing though I noticed, you always advance a couple frames in your M6 before you put the bottom plate on but you don’t have to advance any frames it was designed that way. I throw my roll in and stretch it across to the other side and just make sure my film is in between the teeth then close it right up. I usually get 38 shots on a 36 roll because of this
These are cool. I like them a lot. Maybe an idea as the series evolves is bringing on some of your photography friends and have them talk about how they go out and shoot, or just have an entire episode from the perspective of another photographer. Keep up the good work
I never got the hang for street photo, so caotic and fast. But watching your work, I feel like practicing it a big more. Amazing compositions in the middle of NYC's blur.
this is an amazing series just so you know this guy Emilio Takas absolutely ripped your idea - same name and everything - he uploaded almost word for word exact some video a few days after your first episode. just thought you should know. love your work Joe - you’re a real inspiration
Love these! Just starting out doing this but with digital shots, trying to make videos about it aswell. You are a big inspiration :) Cool to see likeminded people
Dude! Such a good video and so many amazing photos. Love following your channels. Quick tip on loading your M6: if you just drop in the film and then close the bottom plate before advancing, you only need to advance once before you’re on your first frame. This gives you 38-39 exposures per roll of film. Works for me every single time. :)
Such a great way of showing your process. So good it's hard to believe nobody else did this before 😂 really immerses you in the photos too gives them a backstory almost 👌
the girl w the red hair was so pretty and the pic turned out gorgeous!
That's also his wife and I swear every picture of her turns out gorgeous somehow
Hahaha the wife
His wife!
I was gonna ask if she was single Andi find out she's his wife.
are y'all kidding me?! i never knew! that's sweet tho :)
Joe - is it ever weird/uncomfortable when somebody notices you're taking a photo of them on the street? What do you do in that situation?
you just have to be confident and keep going, fuck the uncomfortable feelings haha
idk about Joe but personally at first it's always a bit of a struggle until I get in the zone and stop giving 0 fucks, but best thing you could do If you get noticed is smile and say thank you.
bq films l
Gotta come back to this later - too hungover for the shake n bake. Something to look forward too though!
Colin Ridgway lmao godspeed
lmao im in the same boat.
I love the way you focus your shots quickly. Hope you to make a video tips about focusing distance. Keep up the good work Joe!
If I remember, he zone focuses at 5-13 ft so he doesn't really touch the focus ring
@@themoolag Cool, thanks for this! :)
@@andraejulian check out the first ep, he explains his prep in the first part
love these sunday uploads, rounds off my week nicely.
What's better than a street diaries video? Two street video diaries!
This is the kind of film-stuff that I enjoy before go to bed.

Love how they’re so up close n personal
I've never been so interested in watching guy take pictures of random people.
Amazing video, do you have poeple complaining when they saw that you took them a photo? It's amazing seeing people noticing and not saying anything.
Rubenz I’m really curious about this as well. I want to get more into street photography like this but I’m pretty nervous and don’t know how to handle people’s reactions. Kinda wish he included some of that interaction here.

@@yasser1993319 +1 for morocco not being easy, when i was there i had someone spitting on me for taking his photo
Absolutely loved the shot of, the older lady with the fur and big squared glasses. Lovely shots and I feel like I need to give Tri X some more love.

I’m not from NYC but I looove how everyone is so chill and just doing their own thing ✨
Neither am I! I’m from Mesa AZ, but I’m only 17. I’ve been really inspired by @Joe Greer! I’ve invested in myself and bought a Nikon N5005 and a Kodak disponible camera. Keep up the vids!! So good and inspirational
I love how these people they are just walking by and you snap them and these people maybe will see them but maybe not I just love how this turns out!
I can watch this all day.
Wow that picture of that red-haired beauty. What a smile and magnificient moment to catch :)
Also the surrounding colours just frame her perfectly!
Maddie is so beautiful man. Bless you both! Love the street diaries!!
I could watch these types of videos all day! Keep them coming .
This series is immaculate. Thanks so much Joe.
