10:17 flips his camera up to shoot in the midst of browsing his phone. Those who complain constantly about AF should learn a thing or 2 from Joe. Killing it with manual focus. Stay safe everybody.
There's no problem to shoot manual on like f11. People complaining are shooting f1.4, where 5cm focus difference is unacceptable.
Well, the 28 at 5.6 - 8 offers a decent zone of focus.
So many good shots from this! I personally loved the wind blowing the tie at 9:51. The background and the colors mixed with his reaction feels timeless.

I love these videos, there's something so calming about them. I also love this style of photography, just knowing the images you capture will never happen again, you own a moment in time.

Have you ever talked about being shy and afraid to take a photo in a persons face in any video? Yours or anybody elses? For me, it's about feeling weird having people's pictures saved. It feels kind of like I've stolen something from them, but I love watching other photographers do it

Dude, its public property. NO ONE SHOULD EXPECT privacy when out in the public. So yes, photos of others are allowed. If anyone confronts you, just say you are a photographer. If the photo is shit, delete it. If u love it, keep it!!! Lol

second surge/wave will occur, as we are continually educated on in healthcare/medical field,
during the influenza season on winter 2020 into 2021. Respect for nature and our earth will
hopefully be placed in the forefront of matters dealt with or overseen by all of our varied governments.

yo! this was crazy! definitely my favorite ep. of street diaries, I love the way you photograph in the streets. it's as if you weren't even there, very clean! also, how do you nail exposure and focus on just about every shot?

he explains it in the first episode, sets aperture to like 5.6 at 1/500 when he's shooting without sunlight which gives him like a zone of 5 to 12 feet, then changes aperture to 8 and 1/1000 when in the sun and has 5 feet to infinity in focus

Some streets of New York have the curious quality of looking like a photo studio because buildings reflect sunlight and create special lighting.

Liow Ying Chen he uses the zone system. Basically, his lens marks the depth of field he has for his aperture and since he's shooting with a narrow aperture and a wide lens he has a very large depth of field. You could lookup "zone system" or "hyperfocal distance" for more info

Hi Joe! Another great street Diary! Can I say that the Summilux is insanely sharp, for my tastes it looks too clinical and I really prefer the rendering of the elmarit - this is by no means a criticism and once again you have produced exceptionally compelling photos from THE greatest city in the world. I hope you are well and want to extend my best wishes to all those in the USA especially NYC and surrounding areas that have been hit so hard. I truly hope you continue these excellent street diaries series when this is all over and if you were to release a phonebook or a Zine of some sort I'd love to support you in your work.
