Matpat, Please play the full game on this channel! I'm just loving how you sift through the memories and solve these mysteries.
It should not happen, average viewcount is in the 500k+ mark, even the first episode of this was just over 150k, and this one at the time of watching not even half at ~72k. Most viewers don't seem to want so see this. A shame, however there might be an Game Theory on this once he beats it off-video.
@@bafon867I know this video does way worse than the average GT live video but this series means a lot to the fandom. I also know that it doesn't show in the numbers now but it might show long term. This is the kind of game you can only play once. However some of the magic of this game can be recaptured by watching others experience it. I can't tell you how many playthroughs of the Obra Dinn I personally watched after beating it for the first time and knowing the obsessive nature of the fandom I know I'm not the only one.
@@taylormerrell8510same thing with the Rusty lake games but he stopped doing those
@@ErrorNumber404 I'm sorry. That sucks my dude. Hopefully this series doesn't have to suffer the same fate.
@@taylormerrell8510 I’m hoping for the best for you guys! This game seems really interesting and it would be a shame to lose.
Please finish this game, it’s so interesting watching people solve the mysteries differently and I think bringing more people on the couch to have many different perspectives would be so fun!
It's a shame that they forgot to fill in the tattoo guy's fate. They completely nailed him in the last episode.
There were quite a few more aswell, they also didn't fill them in because they assumed it's impossible to do so until you get their death page. The stearing man, for example was another.
they flipped past him and it looked like they refilled in his fate but not his name
It IS satisfying content, I’ve watched multiple full length playthroughs of this game. Every time someone plays it, I feel like I’m playing the game for the first time again
This game stays surprisingly fresh to watch for me aswell. I've seen several LPs of it and somehow I'm still not tired of it yet, which normally only happens with great and very story heavy games for me. It think it is the different people's thoughts and going about it that does it.
Seriously though! One of the best Obra Dinn playthroughs there is. I really hope it continues.
I can get behind this as well as someone who’s never seen or played the game before in the sense that I feel drawn in by the mystery and intrigue created by the gameplay and storytelling. It almost feels like I’m in the middle of the action as I try and rack my brain to figure out what’s happening.
When you eventually finish up the game, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you watch or read timelines people have made of all of the events in order.
This
Yes
I cant find any, I just finished the game, send me one!
Peak content. 10 part series let’s go!
can you link one please??
Finally, MatPat returns with the continuation of Obra Dinn! This has made my day, week, and life. Thank you for all you do for us, MatPat.
Agreed!!! I hope he finishes it!
I really hope they continue playing this game, it has been such a treat to follow along with how matpat solves things
Omg I love that Mat continued. PLEASE CONTINUE MAT PLEASE
Bring in ALL of Team Theorist if you have to, but Solve that Game! D:
I don't know about you guys, but this is very satisfying to watch to me. I've watched both of these episodes from back to front completely. I would be genuinely upset if MatPat didn't finish this game.
I really really really wish he finishes this series. Such a cool game and it's not a boring playthrough at all, like seeing Matt's logic at work
IKR! If I thought that thinking logically about video games was boring I never would have subscribed to game theory in the first place.
I like watching him play it, but it really is too time consuming. Once you figure it all out the story is like 10 minutes long lol.
I hope there’s more of this. It would be interesting to have Stephanie or someone on the couch with Matpat to bounce clues and ideas around with
I would love to see the two of them bouncing ideas off of each other! That would be a blast!
I know Steph isn’t really in too many videos nowadays, but this would be a PERFECT game for Mat and Steph to play together!
I’d pay money to get Steph to steer this ship. They’d solve it in no time.
i miss her being on gtlive so much, i was so happy when she was on the only up one.@@amypatterson7395
I know MatPat said that this might be the last video of this game in the first video, but I love this slower paced game and do hope they do more of this
After your last upload of this game, I went and got it for myself and played through it. I can absolutely say that it is a masterfully designed game that I would LOVE to see you finish! I think it's so interesting to see the inner workings of other people trying to solve the mystery. Please do consider doing more of it on GTLive. Not all of us are solely interested in FNAF-style games, you know. Sometimes heady can be fun, too!
Me too 😂
LOL i did the same thing!!
i love watching him play this
Watched a complete play through and this game is amazing.
I loved this game. Solving the mysteries was SOOOOOO satisfying.
Definitely want to see more. It’s not just about the performance it’s watching someone put puzzle pieces together in their mind and watching the process. Plus I’m getting kind of bored watching “jump-scare” “creepy” games. Like I understand FNAF but it just seems like every game lately is just trying to be a different version of that.
This. Like they're ok every once in awhile but it's nice to just lean back and listen to something more calming too. And to see how somebody else obsorbs information and processes it.
😊
I couldn't agree more.
I know! I'm so over FNAF it's beyond over saturated. I would be so happy if FNAF just took a hiatus. Lol 😂
HE DID IT!!! HE IS BACK ON THE SHIP!!! I literally cannot describe how excited I am for him to play this.
if Matt just casually recorded the rest of the game and threw it up as an unedited unlisted video on Twitter or something, I would binge the whole thing in a heartbeat. I love this and I love how you guys' skills complement so well in solving this.
Yeah, I don't need a lot of fun commentary for these types of uploads
Fun fact - since storms at sea don't just last from 9 to 5, a ship needs enough crew to operate 24/7 in 3 shifts.
That means that (most probably for gameplay reasons) the Obra Dinn is understaffed roughly by half.
Imagine having 120 people to identify... the corpses would be piling!
Quite explains the crazed, uncontrollable chaos that occurs 😭
@@orangesipper7609I confirm
Yeah a ship the size of the Obra Dinn would have needed a crew of 120+, the 60ish that they have wouldn’t be enough to sail the ship even if nothing went wrong
that mean 1 people work 2x as hard?
As to the content question that you had at the end, I feel like since this is mostly a channel with "game theory" audience it would mean that people who watch it are theoriests and enjoy games for their lore and like to dig deeper into it and that's why series like fnaf, amanda or others you played work so much here (that's why I love it too) so I think that this game is perfect for it.
Yeah, I agree. This channel is more of an add on to Game Theory, so the audience would lean more towards game theory than any of the others.
I personally love watching Mat play all kinds of games. If I didn't like the first video, I wouldn't have chase to see this one, lol. There are very few games where I just don't watch on GTL for various reasons, but I find this one quite enjoyable
Do be warned, there are multiple acceptable answers for most of the crew. They will all lock in the guess, meaning you can't change it later, and the ending will change based on what you guess.
Woah! I’ve played this game before and never knew that! That’s really cool!
I mean the only thing it affects is the insurance report
I would like to see the theorists solve the rest of Obra Dinn. Your entire channel is about deducing things, so this game makes a lot of sense. It's fun seeing you put the puzzle and solutions together.
So happy to see that MatPat kept up with this series!!
Matpat's approach to this game feels pretty different from a lot of other playthroughs I've watched and I think that's pretty fun
I absolutely love MatPat playing this game and would love to see him bring people in to play with him if he can manage it.
I think this is a really fun game to watch. Not just for people that have played this game before and recommended it but also for people like me who have no idea what is going on in this game. I hope there will be a lot more episodes on this game cause I can not get enough of it!
Glad to see that there's a second part! This is gonna be a banger of an episode!!
Edit: After watching this, I can 1987% confirm that is was indeed, a banger of an episode!
Is that the percent of '87?!
I would love to see a longer series on the channel (like until dawn and life is strange in the old days, where we can see your different perspective on games and how you make choices because I always loved how you explore everything and actually think about the decisions you make unlike some other youtubers who just speedrun through games like that). I feel like it would be fun to have at least one longer story driven game on the channel at any time :D
I just love this chill, puzzle solving vibes with Mat and Ash. It's so relaxing!!
What theories could he pull from the game?
I think this works well for GTLive, a big reason this channel is unique to other gameplay channels is that it shows the behind the scenes theorizing and real time logic and puzzle solving, which this game is perfect for.
Yessss! I was worried we'd never see more of this. I'm glad to see I was wrong in this case.
Firstly, this is great content! PLEASE CONTINUE THIS!!!! We want to see more!
So, as it told you at the start, you DO need to use some process of elimination. The best way to do this is to fill in incomplete guesses, and let the Rule of 3 give you additional information. In this case, you are pretty sure the killer is a Peters, so you should fill it in as either one of the Peters brothers. If it gets typeset, you know it's right; if 3 fates typeset and that isn't one of them, you know it's wrong. You can do similarly for the women on the boat, and it is absolutely *intending* them to be done by process of elimination, I'm pretty sure.
Keep at it, this is the perfect type of game for this channel lol!
SPOILERS FOR SOLVING THE WOMEN'S IDENTIFICATION:
You don't have to process of elimination them. Pay careful attention in one of the flash backs and you can see one of them has a wedding ring. Consider how the roster lists one of them as miss... and there is the solution.
Rather, process of elimination is A path you can go with, but not THE path. Everyone can be identified without it.
I absolutely love watching matpat play this game and hope he continues !! I love ash and him collaborating their minds together to solve these puzzles and it seems very satisfying to see them solve each person !
I want more. I love watching people reason through this game even though I know the answers. Also, a face being visible means you may now make an educated guess, not that you have the answer. You will have to just guess half blind with some of them even after you have all the chapters unlocked, or reason by using the photos and manifest. But you can save the half blind guessing for the end.
Some of them aren't even dead, so that's not really fair too 😂
The timeline is a part of the puzzle Matt :)
I understand the frustration but the person you are playing doesn't know the information either, and they can only figure out what happened by going backwards
I totally agree. I feel like for me at least it helps to go through each chapter death by death to get a solid mental timeline. Having a notepad handy also helps. Lol
Yeah it's kind of silly to complain about the timeline when the game pretty much tries its hardest to get you to follow one series of events at a time in separate chunks. Ignoring those obvious through lines will of course make it confusing
@@Fattydude66 Yes! It was driving me a little nuts seeing them ignore the chunks of story at a time and then hearing him say that it was hard to follow the different storylines. Yes, it is a little difficult, but they are making it harder by not following the line the game gives you. It's there for a reason.
I love Return to Obra Dinn and seeing how different people deduce the clues to figure things out.
This game stays surprisingly fresh to watch. I've seen several LPs of it and somehow I'm still not tired of it yet, which normally only happens with great and very story heavy games for me. It think it is the different people's thoughts and going about it that does it.
@@sunkeyavad6528 I think this game works for keeping playthroughs fresh because there is no one way to start tackling deductions once you're past the tutorial that is The End.
The way the game gives you three corpse locations, the slow reveal of the story in reverse order, and the partial identity of key figures as the puzzle gets solved.
One playthrough I enjoyed completely spaced out the book is sent by Henry and spent most an hour piecing through other fates before finally figuring out The Escape.
1:03:50 The one thing this game is missing the most in terms of mechanics is the ability to make manual notes at the picture. Postit style.
The other big feature that I think is missing is the ability to jump directly into a scene from the book page rather than the corpse.
I hope we get more of this, I love watching you play obra dinn
Edit: I'll add a small tip, the unknowns listed in the book are for you to label people with, for example, if you figure out that a person must be an official on the ship but you don't know exactly who they are, you may want to select them in the sketch, attempt to identify them despite missing information and then label them as unknown official, that way it's easier to discard red herrings and false leads later on
We definitely want more of this! Watching others' deduction skills is fascinating, and this content is quite different to recent content on the channel so it's something fresh. It might be a long one, but you've had long series before.
I adore this game - Lucas Pope did a phenomenal job once again.
Please keep playing this game, you should bring Stephanie and the Michigan Grandpa to the next one too, like also with Ash. All 4 of you please! It’d be fun to watch 💜
Since I have never seen this game before until GTLive, this game is really fun to watch.
i'm not even part of the fandom but honestly i hope to watch you continue playing it! even if you don't continue this series i still thank you for introducing this hidden gem to me
Since part one I bought the game, finished it, and watched 50 hours of youtubers struggling with it. You're doing great so far and I'm looking forward to watching 8 more hours of you picking this apart.
And yes, absolutely do write things down. :)
I’m so glad to see another episode of this incredible game ^^
Obra don'tin
I was waiting for this and I'm so glad cos it's an amazing game
too bad there wont be a third
@@ItsLegoman44 I know he said there wouldn’t be but I’m still holding out hope
@@fembleh1142there also won't be a game theory because of the straight forward lore 😢
I am in no way bored by your playthrough of this! This game is great, and I'm thrilled that you're finally playing it! Please continue! :D
This video is for the people who played the game and want to experience it again vicariously through you; while watching I had several moments when I went, "Ah, I remember solving that."
Definitely want more of this game on GTLive, it's so much fun to watch you guys trying to solve what happened. Just remember that not everything will have a definitive clue, so you'll have to guess some things like names or cause of death.
Watching matpat get so close to where the missing guy is and then ash guess where he went is hilarious
I'm glad the Great Ash Attorney joined this investigation! 😉
WAIT u can actually find that body i spent so long searching but gave up and just correctly assumed what happened to him
@GrassFudge7 so the body doesnt highlight and its hard to see through the cannon blast but there is a human sized lump flying outside the window from the blasts direction. Its one of the few bodies you have to infer through context
@@Ericshadowblade You also get a really big hint if you just go to the scene the next dead body brings, which is just seconds before and then you it's pretty clear there's only 1 thing that could have had him vanish that rapidly, plus what happens to the person right next to him.
However they decided to switch scenes right before they would have gotten that next hint.
I AM SO GLAD THEY DECIDED TO CONTINUE THIS SERIES😭😭😭😭❤️
Personally I'd love to see you guys play more of this, but don't feel pressured to make videos out of it if you don't want to
I really think this game works really well for this channel. Shame it hasn't seemed to catch everyone's attention.
I’m so glad you continued this!!! I loved the first one and was a bit sad when you said that it probably wouldn’t continue.
I love watching people solve this game. Something about them figuring it out is very satisfying. working with a second person def makes it go faster. I hope you play it again.
i love this game! mat and ash were great at bouncing off each other's ideas. i think it would be so fun to see steph on this too! please don't drop this series!!
I know that you said that this game will probably not become a series, but I would honestly love if it did. This game is so fun and I love the puzzle solving aspect!
I absolutely love watching this, I really hope you continue recording these. I am not good at puzzle games myself so hearing Mat and Ash talk about what they are thinking really helps me follow this story and game
Maaan I hope this isn't the end, I love watching Mat try to piece together everything and me doing it along with em. But I understand it ain't everyone's cup of tea
Yeah, not to blame Mat in any way, but this game is fun and I'd love to get the satisfaction of getting to see him fill in all the information and getting to see him finish the game
I will say if you are worried about ambiguity with deaths that some of the deaths accept multiple answers. Also I would like to see you continue this, I enjoy watching this.
I would like to say that watching you deduce this is very fun to watch
this is the kind of game that matpat can enjoy with all the theory skills
I absolutely love that you're still playing the game!! Hopefully more videos will be made. Love love the game. Seeing different peoples' thought processes on this game is super entertaining!
So glad y’all are continuing this!!! After your first upload I bought the game and stayed up all night figuring it out haha. It was so much fun and I hope y’all continue to upload episodes!
I played this game because of the first video, and it was a treat. Even if he doesn't finish it on the channel, I hope he enjoys it on his own time.
Please play more Obra Dinn! The fun is watching you play and working your way through the logic, even though it's not as action-y of a game.
We are IN on this series too, would absolutely love to see it continued!
I really enjoy watching the puzzle solving of this game. It would be lots of fun to see the three of you sit down to figure it out, even if it's once and a while
Yes, Matpat solving something, my favorite.
I would loveeeee to have you and Steph work together on this. I was thinking that from the very beginning!
I like this kind of puzzle story telling.
I would hope to see more PLEEEEASE 🙏🏼
It gets my brain engaged instead of just a quick run through watch. Plus it would be cool seeing Mat, Steph, and Ash on the couch teaming and completing it. As well as being satisfied and understand why the deaths took place.
(This probably didn’t make sense but overall I just hope to see more 😁👍🏼)
I can't necessarily say WHY this is fun to watch
(maybe it's the puzzle solving, maybe it's just the Matt and Ash banter)
but I can confirm that I will continue to watch more of it.
Omg, I'm so happy you did at least a second video of it!
Personally I started playing the game right after starting to watch the previous video, I wanted to do it on my own before, and it's better to see how others approach it if you know all of it too, thank you for making me discover the game!
It took me 7 hours, and I think you could do it even faster, so I'm hoping this could still be done on this channel
I’m so happy matpat and co decided to keep playing this
I want more of this!! Love watching the thought deductions as well as making my own and seeing it all come together
I wouldn't mind watching you play the rest of this game. And more people on the couch could be great fun
Would absolutely love to see more of this on the channel, but also totally get the appeal of playing it offscreen in your own time. Hope you enjoy the rest of the game regardless of what form it takes.
Its so fun watching your thought process as you were solving, id love more
I really hope they keep playing this game! I couldn't figure out a lot of it on my own, so I really like playing this as a community
It's sad because the exact type of games Mat said doesn't make for good content are the games I LOVE watching. I really really hope they continue.
I agree. I feel like this is the perfect game for content for Matt. This game is so entertaining to watch him play and I really want him to continue his playthrough of it
I thought you weren’t going to do another part, but I’m so happy you did(this is probably my favorite game to watch)
Just starting the video: Aw, who was frustrated with part 1?! I thought it was super fun watching you work through it, that's kind of the point...
My only frustration with Mat is his fear of just clicking things in the book to see what happens. I understand his trepidation because he doesn't want to enter something incorrectly, but he is still missing out on using some extremely useful tools to helping fill in the journal.
I'm loving this series and I'd love to see more! I like watching how your mind puts the pieces together. I don't find this to be boring at all!
I'll be honest, I love to watch this and I sometimes listen to this game as a podcast while playing other games. Please continue posting this game. I love it.
Please continue with this game. It is enjoyable to watch you solve the mystery, to solve it along with you and it would be very unsatisfying fr the viewers to leave it unfinished!
This has been so much fun to watch, I hope we see more!
This game is so intriguing! You guys should definitely make this a series👍
I would love to see more of this game! The story is so cool! And weird!!
This game was very fun to watch I would really enjoy more to this series.
I absolutely would love more of this
I love how inefficiently they play this!!
This game does the same feelings for me when MatPat played Edith Finch! Really love this kind of detective games!
Hopefully MatPat and Ash would play this as a series!
I love that you returned to this game! I think it fun watching you puzzle this out, hope you continue with it! There is apparently three endings depending on how many fates you successfully identify.
I think it’s interesting and entertaining to see how you work through the information presented
I am so invested in this game. The moment it uploaded I watched until I passed out(it was a long day for me), and then came back to rewatch to make sure I didn't miss anything in the morning. I've decided whether you continue this playthrough or not I'm am determined to see it all through. It would upset me if you didn't finish it but I would find someone else because I need to know all that's happened! That being said, I'd really love it if YOU finished it considering I started here and would love to continue.
You HAVE to play it with Stephanie, I know it will be so fun watching both of you work together to solve all the misteries of this game. Also, can't wait for her to absolutely mastermind all of the accents! :)))
Thank you for part 2 MatPat! I hope you continue enjoying it enough to finish it with us!
On an unrelated note: Wanted to point out that even though it’s seemingly needlessly confusing to have the story told in reverse, it actually makes a lot of sense realistically, as the only bodies that would have remained on that ship the entire time would have to be either stored long term, or be the last ones to die on the ship, and since the last ones that died were all we have to go on we’d have to slowly make our way through magic pocket watch magic death memories to the beginning of the story! Which I find really interesting as to not give away the mystery of each section instantly and make it more of a challenge!
Eeeee!!! So happy you continued playing this one on the channel. Excited to see anyone else experience this story lol
I'd dearly love to see you play this game to completion Mat, it has me completely engaged and curious how things come full circle now. =^.^=
For what it's worth, I'd love to see you continue this series! It's fun seeing you in your element, fully embracing the deductive reasoning that this game requires. I feel like for this series in particular, more people will come for that than for the jokes. And the back and forth of you and Ash bouncing ideas off each other was compelling! I think bringing Stephanie on as a third would be really neat. Regardless of whether you continue it or play it on your own though, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself!
Really glad you're doing more of this. So far, this has been my favorite series this channel has done since Stephanie left. Hope you will keep at it.
I hope we see more of this series, definitely an interesting concept and I want to see it though to the end
My vote for at least going through all the scenes once, without as much speculation, to get all the cool story stuff. You can then take your time to get everything right.
And I was interested by all this, even as I've played it.
Genuinely love seeing you guys play this, I really hope it continues. Watching someone discover the story and work out the puzzles of a game that you know is super cool is enough without needing to entertain us. Don't you want to find out why there's a mysterious light~?
