I loved 1 2 but 3 I didn't like the puzzles were to straight forward and it just felt padded.

You have no idea how long I wanted MatPat to play this game. Definitely one of my favorite puzzle games of all time, with rich lore and mind-bending puzzles.

Watching this, it feels like MatPat's way of thinking and looking closely at everything worked against him a bit here. Feels like his mind has a much more "logically stiff" way of looking at things than the more "simple yet flexible" mindset this game's series tends to lean towards
Yeah notice how he uses the eyepiece, he only puts it on for a second to look at a specific area and then takes it off as if he can't do anything else while it is on. This prevents him from viewing the puzzle holistically, not seeing the forest through the trees.

The room and rusty lake are some of my favorite series ever, im so glad theyre getting that sweet matpat recognition

I used to play it when I was like 8, and I think it’s one of the reasons I’m so obsessed with lore and puzzle solving nowadays, though I couldn’t really appreciate the lore when I was younger and I would just give it to my sister whenever I got stuck 😭
I remember playing this forever ago and it's crazy that MatPat has never tried it. The lore is crazy good across the whole series. Pls pls pls do a part 2

I love Rusty Lake me and my mom used to try and solve it together!
The puzzle where you need to match up the rings that seemed to not work unless the image was turned the right way, despite it looking the same had a part that you missed. If I remeber correctly, that puzzle had a second image that could only be seen with the eyepiece. MatPat managed to brute force it before he could figure that out unfortunately.
Based on the cuts made I’m guessing there was a lot of brute forcing and/or hints involved

Lol yes I was yelling at the screen the whole time to just use the lens cuz then the puzzle is WAY easier. Plus it’s a cool design too

As a long time fan of this series, you have no idea how happy it makes me to see this game up on the channel. This was a blessing.
I played this game as a kid, oh my gosh!!!! This is by far my favorite mystery game series of all time. I’m thrilled that you’re playing this, Matt! I assure you there is plenty of wonderful lore to be found in this game series! I really hope this video gets lots of attention so he’s able to play through them all!

OMG, OMG, OMG, IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING. you have no idea how happy i am that you’re playing this game! i literally dropped everything i was doing as soon as i saw this notification. this series of games are very dear to me, i have so many fond memories of playing them for hours with my dad and sister when i was a child, and i’m so excited that you’ll get to experience them now too. (also i got first comment hehe)

I was really into Rusty Lake from their first few videos and have held off on seeing the rest because I wanted to see them continue, but I’m really worried they’ve dropped it like some other series I was looking forward too.
I'm personally _way_ more into watching someone solve lore puzzle games than playing them myself. I've done it just fine in the past, but the pay-off somehow feels more hollow than watching someone else reach the conclusion. Please show them all!

Me too! I played it with friends. The way we played it was, everyone tried to solve a level and whoever solved it would help the others. And we would talk out loud what we were thinking.
I have been wondering when Matt would get around to this game. I can't wait to see him play the rest of the games in the series as well as take a nice deep dive into the Lore. Especially in the 3rd game. That's one's extra fun

I've played all the games in this series multiple times over, so watching him struggle with some of these puzzles is causing me mental distress

Tips without spoilers:
-Every new area, whether it’s useful or not, try to check it with the lenses. There are things easy to miss.
-If something is no longer useful it disappears from your inventory so if you use something and it’s still there try giving it a closer look.

OH MY GOSH YES! I never thought MatPat would ever play this series but here it is!! In my personal opinion however, it would be best to play the first 2 games off screen as the story becomes more apparent starting with the 3rd game in the series.
But the lore i think goes crazy in the second game.

This is a series I'd love to see a good lore video on (as well as playing all the games). I've played through all of them (except the vr one) several times, but I've only got a vague idea what the story actually is and what's going on.

I am so here for the om. I loved this series, played every one. Got so addicted, when I ran out I ended up buying and playing a ton of those shitty seek n' find games just to get my fix. The money and time I've spent watching crappy paper doll animation, listening to horrible voice acting just to capture an ounce of the feeling I got from these games. I'm really happy you're playing them if that isn't apparent already.

This series is, IMO, simply the BEST puzzle box/escape room games...and they are the 1st cell phone games of their kind, considering this 1st game in the series was released 11 years ago in 2012, just 5 years after the 1st iPhone came out.

It's really interesting watching this and seeing mat get stuck in the parts that were very easy for me and breeze through where _I_ got stuck. It's such a neat visualization of how we think differently.
The Room series is some of the best puzzle games available. And it only gets better as it goes along. Some good brain-scratchers throughout and the eldritch lore that slowly reveals itself is genuinely intriguing. The only limiting factor is that, by the time of the fifth game, the devs have branched out into VR, so if you don't have a VR setup, you can't really play it, which is a shame. The first four are playable otherwise without requiring a special setup though.

As another long time Room fan and long time GTLive watcher, I am blown away to see you play this! My sister and I have wanted you to play this for years and years, and I'm blown away that you actually did! Play more! Every game gets better and better.
Remember, this game is over 10 years old and was developed as a phone game. I love each of these games. You really do get a lot for your money. And, the actual LORE! gets more evolved with each game. Very like MYST in some ways.

I don’t think Matpat noticed, but Rev 6:05 was likely a reference to the Bible verse Revelations 6:5, as it talks about a third seal being broken (which parallels the three seals on the box) and it then talks about the third horsemen of the apocalypse, which may mean something in the lore of this game. I’m not sure if that’s the case though.
There is now a 4th part of it that even holds more lore🤩 I was waiting for him to play this series!!! I am so excited about it! I remember playing this is a young child and now all these memories are coming back!

The Room games are one of my favorite puzzle game series. The atmosphere is amazing, and the lore is fascinating. The second game is my personal favorite, but all 5 of them are fantastic
my best friend recently bought me the bundle because i was excitedly rambling about how much i loved the first game but never got the chance to play the other installments, and im so excited to watch him play the next parts, this game has been one of my favorites for years! i didn't realize how much lore there actually was given i was still kinda young when i first played it, so i'm curious to see how much Mat can break it down and how much i actually missed, it's such a cool game

The Room brings back memories! That game is a few years old, but I remember enjoying it a lot. One of the few really good mobile games from back then.

Legit shrieked when I saw the game you were playing!! The Room series is my FAVORITE to play and replay. They kept upping the ante with each title and there is so much more lore in the other games that I’m seriously hoping an actual Theory video comes out of this. This game is so intriguing. I'm like you, I usually struggle with the non-puzzle elements more than anything else lmao. I love how bizarre some of the movements were in this game! Pretty cool if weird. I love watching your reactions to these games, its hilarious. Thanks for all the videos, my dude.

I ADORED this series as a child and have played these games over and over and over again. So seeing Mat play it is amazing. I used to draw some of the glyphs all the time too.
