Yeah, just don't pull it. It's not stable with the stand anyway. It wobbles even easier. It's really, really silly that this console "can't" hold a steady position in any alignment at all, isn't it? First of all, I don't understand why Sony made the BD drive at the "bottom". They really invested too much thought to rip off the design of Xbox 360. And my God, it's huge. It's way bigger than the original Xbox from 2001.

Also, literally in any position I put my ps5 in you have to use a damn good deal of force to actually get the damn thing to move. I'm assuming you don't even have the ps5? I have a literal 360 and it looks absolutely nothing like the playstation in comparison. Xbox's disc drive is literally built into the comsole, ps5's is on the side yet looks absolutely amazing wether you place it vertically or horizontally.
I already learned this lesson with my ps4 lol. Never play with the controller plugged in while in a spinny chair.

Also, one of the most important thing, if you use the stand when the ps5 is in vertical position you can see that at the bottom of the console there is some sort of grids that allow to your ps5 a correct and fluent way out for hot air.
If you don't use the base you may find yourself having the console overheated as you have blocked the passage for the air.
Sorry for my english but i wanted to let everyone know this problem.
i think the bottom is an intake since the air out is always up or to the sides (hot air travels up)

Back in my day, we only used stands when a console was vertical. Also, a quarter is perfect for tightening and loosening the screw.

I like how you completely overlooked some of the air intake holes on the bottom, which without the stand would be blocked but the stand gives it almost and extra inch of height in breathing room.
Exactly, that why I just did mine horizontally. Also don’t want to tip when I’m using my Logitech steering wheel. Shit gets intense on chicanes lol

@@MS_Astro it actually does block the vents on the bottom, when I got mine I was putting the stand and noticed how much it actually blocked so decided not to.
@@AndrewB23 I would rather give it more clearance than the tiny bit the shell provides without it. Even graphics cards sometimes have a shroud that cover some airflow, but if the air pressure is good then it’s fine. Air pressure matters a lot, especially in things like computer cases and server rooms and the PS5 is designed to take more airflow from the back, not the bottom because the exhaust are on the wings up top. The PSU breathes thru the bottom, but it doesn’t generate much heat.

This is one of the most important tips for the PS5. I didn’t realize this until I setup my second PS5 horizontally. After reading the directions, I noticed you needed it for vertical too, because it provides grip. Tip, use a popsicle stick to help remove the screw to avoid breaking the clip. It doesn’t take much force, just a little leverage.

@John Bonilla I've seen plenty in stock at game also other stores but they only allow the purchase of one per household whereas playstation direct allows two.
The stand is probably also good for airflow, looks like there’s vents on the bottom side when standing up
Nope, air comes in through the vents at the front of the console where it is wider and exhausts out of the back, it's nearly impossible to choke the PS5's airflow positioning it.
There is air coming out from the botton and it is not chilled air. It is warm. Warm enough to leviate the PS or using the stand to let it have breathing room.
I leviated it ~2-3cm and the place beneath it gets really warmed up.

I was hesitant in using the little dock since I was going to have the system in the vertical position but there were reasons that prompted me to use it. One, I heard that it's better for ventilation however I might've mistaken it for the horizontal position. Two, I have a cat that gets the zoomies in the middle of the night so I decided to place it on. It wasn't until after I installed it that I noticed it had rubber on the bottom. So grateful that Sony put that there

After using mine for a few hours I can say that while standing it up may make that aspect more stable on the bottom of the console there ARE places where hot escapes and the stand DOES cover them.

Use the horizontal way instead of vertical if you can so it is more secure in my opinion.

I didn't realize the stand had a spot for the screw cap. I just put mine in a ziploc back and put it back in the box since I never throw my console boxes away. Thanks for tip!
Literally this first page, first step, first instruction in the PS5 Installation Guide provided with the system.
When I 1st got mine out I never thought that the stand was unimportant. Weird how some did. One piece of the flat surface covers more surface area than the slimmer portion. Already that sounds off warning bells to me and it's a disaster waiting to happen. Not going to lie this the 2nd console I believe to have a natural look when positioned vertically. Like it fits the mood it sets. The first being the Wii. Nintendo was ahead of the times with their design. And it's a mini powerhouse.

It is better to use the PS5 laid down since the bottom of the ps5 has important fans as you can see in this video. The stand will endanger your PS5 to overheating, it looks better but just don’t do it. (The fans at the bottom will normally head up more than any other)

Step four: Keep working for a couple of years untill you have enough money to buy the PS5
