But the ps5 is obviously designed to stand, so bad design. Inserting the disc with the label facing out is not intuitive. They could have done it that when you rest the console horizontally the stand attaches to the left not the right side.

I took me a solid 15 mins to even think to flip the disk
Inserting the disc the wrong way was my first mistake with the console. It was a very easy one to make because you tend to think the Blu-ray drive is closer to the top when the console is lying in the horizontal position, as has been the case with consoles of the past. Sony decided to be cute this time around and put the drive near the bottom. :p
No its not an easy mistake it's common sense to put the disc in right side up and it's also common sense knowing which side is up by just looking at the console.
I hate to be mean dude but you saying it's an easy mistake is not true for an intelligent person. I mean why would you have your ps5 set up upside down?
You can't which is why I don't understand how you got confused. Even if you have only seen the console vertical there's plenty of pictures in the quick set up guide and the stand will only go on one side so there's just no easy way to just accidentally not know.
@@terry85mar Knowing which side of the console is up is not at all a matter of common sense with the PS5. Typically, the console will have one flat side which is the obvious bottom, but the sides of the PS5 are both rounded so it can't sit steady at all without the base. On top of that, the drive juts out the side in a hump that looks like it should almost certain be on top of the console if it were more typically shaped, it's honestly super counter intuitive for that to be the bottom. The drive on a console (and most other devices that use discs, really) is almost always on top, which means when you insert the disc the bottom faces towards the console while the label faces away from it.

The way to do that is to get all online stores to get better protection from bots. A lot of stores don’t have a captcha on checkout, so a bot can just buy more again and again.
I managed to get lucky enough to get one the first day they went up for pre-order, presumably only because the scalpers hadn’t had time to set up their bots yet since everyone was caught off guard.

Easy way to remember disc direction: The disc should face up when the console is horizontal. It was confusing when they swapped direction of disc insertion from PS3 to PS4 to PS5, never failed when you consider the horizontal mode.
Got to be honest, I watched a *lot* of the PS4 videos for the voice and I've never owned one. Now I've actually got a PS5 and these are super helpful!

I did the disk one with that exact game to lol the first time... Couldn't understand why they made it backwards, figured out if the system if flat it would be just like putting a disc into your ps4.... This is the first console I've ever had vertical, great video!

I think because it was shown in advertising in it's vertical and the design was intended for vertical use and more people who saw those must of assume that's the right way to put it
Never had any of my consoles vertical, and same for my ps5 (lucky enough to get one via pre order) Doesn't fit in my AV cabinet unless horizontal. I don't understand how people could get this wrong.

The PS5 instructions plainly state to use the front USBC high speed port for external storage but the rear USB ports can also be used.

Honestly, I think it would make way more sense for the disc to face the other way. On top of that, I think the disc lump should definitely be on top when the console is horizontal.

I too have had to make tricky minor repairs to PS4 controller when Analog
trigger for throttle fell off to 85%. It was frustrating losing races always won before.

I think at this point, I have the disc orientation burned into my brain by seeing the PS5 adverts to buy one for so long.
Sometimes I take out a disc that was in the correct way, I see what way it is, and when I grab another disc and try to put it in I forget which way to put it in

You can however connect your external SSD via the front USB-C Port. This is my preferred method actually.

Believe it or not but this 58 years old man is excited as a kid because I bought a PS5 for this year’s Christmas, my excuse was that it is a family gift but I already look forward to have Resident Evil on the menu. Me: so put two disc facing away from each other together and insert it to avoid that mistake again.....
You can also fast safe eject drive by pressing option on any title in the Home Screen

I looked at my PS5 for 5 seconds holding the disc and thought... I better look this up rather than getting this disc scratched. I like to imagine if my PS5 was horizontal, how would I put the disc in since the disc drive would be at the bottom. That's what help me remember the orientation.
The disc one is a common error i still do after nine months, because i also have a X-Box Series X where it is the other way around.

That's why you should put the system horizontally like it's meant to be. Vertically has always been stupid looking to me.
