My cousin has a ps4 slim from 2016 and when i dont update it it fully bugs and wont turn off I really want to see it on a newer slim and see what happens
I saw an article a few years ago about a woman who sued Microsoft because her son's Xbox wouldn't play the WiiU version of Breath of the Wild she'd gotten him for Christmas. It got dismissed pretty quickly and I'm surprised she even got a lawyer in the first place.
The fact the PS4 can tell when you try to play PS3 games or use PS3 controllers is incredibly sad. It's Sony saying, "Yeah we know what you want, but screw you."
Sony: "Look at how _powerful_ the PS4 is!" Me: "It's such a _wuss_ that it refuses to even _try_ to play a PS3 game." Yes, I know that it would need either a PS3 emulator or a PS3 chip-set to do that. That's _not_ the point.
Here's a funny thing: certain 360 games (oftentimes, earlier games in the system's library) have a similar message to what all OG Xbox games would do. This stopped being done later in the system's life, probably because the 360 was struggling in disc space compared to the PS3.
@@NessRandom1 Don't try to tell me that you genuinely don't think they could have made ps3 disc based games compatible with the Ps4 if they really wanted to?
@@phlhoran12396 Not without redesigning the PS4 entirely, the PS3 used a type of CPU that is unique and hadn't been used in any hardware before (or since). Not only did this make the PS3 a nightmare to develop for during its lifetime, it made it impossible for them to incorporate compatibility with the PS4 (although they did initially attempt it). Nowadays we have the processing power to emulate PS3 games but back when PS4 launched, the only devices capable of it had high-end desktop processors. This means that the only way they could've enabled PS3 compatibility would be if they shipped PS3 hardware within the PS4 itself and ran using PS3 firmware. The PS5 definitely has the power to emulate PS3 games but the base model PS4 would likely struggle with it. It takes a decent PC to emulate PS3 games due to some issues with the PS3, including using single-thread processing at a high clock speed, rather than quad-core which was contemporary at the time. Had a ps4 slim for about 8 years or so, just upgraded to ps5 a few days ago. Never had a singular issue with the slim, loved the console. Loading times just sucked
i expected that result. similar to pcs, without the hard drive the system cant access data that is not on system MEMORY, so theoretically if we have enough Ram we can load the whole os on ram and dont have to use the hard disk, since hard disks are designed to store data permanently, but ram can't as soon as the system loses power.
Like for an example, if you put a Dreamcast game on your car. CD player. It will say that this is a Sega Dreamcast game. And if you put a PlayStation game on your car CD player, it will play the soundtrack of The Game.
I know that most, if not all Dreamcast games have a CD track with either a generic "Don't play this in a CD player" message in it or a custom message delivered by characters from the game. (Skies of Arcadia did this, I think.) I only know of one PS1 game that did something similar, and that of course was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night with Alucard delivering the famous "As you can see, this is a PlayStation Black disc" message. I'm actually pretty surprised that Xbox games did something similar with a short DVD video telling you "Hey! This is an Xbox game, not a movie!" Would've been nice if PS2 games did that too, but since the PS2 didn't require you to buy a remote with a dongle to unlock DVD playback, they probably figured that wasn't necessary as most of us used our PS2 as our main DVD player.
@@whiteetk8000persona3isgood No, it didn't. Many SEGA CD titles used Redbook Audio for their entire soundtrack, so they'd be playable as audio CDs anyway. The ones that didn't were usually FMV games that used the disc for video.
@@LeonSheeter That's a bit off-topic, but yes. In fact, several PS1 titles stored their soundtrack in Redbook format. Rayman did this in addition to sequenced music, (think MIDI but with instruments supplied by the game rather than built into the console), for seamless looping tracks. Some PS1 games also used XA or "eXtended Architecture" audio which was basically a compressed form of audio that allowed games to have more CD quality music than uncompressed Redbook audio could at the cost of not being able to play the soundtrack in a CD player. (You can still convert XA audio to another format like MP3 easily though.) And it wasn't just audio either, XA also allowed encoded video for FMVs in games and allowed general computer data to be streamed in addition to music if you were creative enough, and a few PS1 games could stream music and game data without needing a loading screen. I think The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was one of those games.
"It puts respect on the PS3 name at least" no it doesn't. If it recognises that it's a PS3 disc, then there's no reason why it wouldn't let you play it
The error for the disc drive being unplugged mid game is fascinating considering that it just installs the game to the hard drive anyways you'd think the disc drive would only be for the initial check and it wouldn't bother checking again after boot.
I'm guessing some data is still (on some games) streamed from the blu-ray, (e. g. Sounds, certain textures, etc) and is (maybe) constantly cheaking the disk for a licence, like if the disk was hot-swapped, (Even if that's not really possible) all just guesses

9:47 The game was loaded into memory on the PS4 to that point and did not need to read the disc. Once you tried to select a race it needed to load that data into the memory and tried to read the disc, which it could not. This is the same when I used to play racing games like Jet Moto. I would let the track load and then switch in a music CD and it would play a song off the music CD. The song track played depended on the games programming. After the race you would need to put the game disc back in.

I LIKED my own comment
And?
Can we please stop this trend it’s not even funny it’s just straight up annoying :/
Good
Me too lol
Poo
The PS4 can't read CDs in any capacity so that's why it didn't do anything for the PS1.
Hello
Dude you're first 🥇
14:21 My PS5 came with a small stand to prevent it from rocking or even can do the PS5 vertical.
You talk too much
Yo do too
As a ps4 owner this hurt to watch 💀😭
My ps4 has been saying corrupted data ever since I’ve dropped it does any know how i cant fix that and it overheats everything i cant even play Minecraft with out it overheating
Took me back to 2019 with Big Chungus.
Bro my dad got me a PS5 slim digital for Christmas. It’s so much better than my old PS4.
A little bit ago, i fixed my friends ps4, because one of his siblings put a penny in his disk drive. Was a weird repair.
If you change the settings you could probably use that wired controller, you can change from Bluetooth to wired
What did you expected connecting PS4 and PS5? That they would start making love? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great video very reminiscent of the old days when you did the whole what happens if I put this game in this console thing yeah that's how long I've been watching you. Definitely good times to see you doing that again
The reason the ps4/ grand trismo didt crash when you unpluged the hard drive/ disk drive is because it was running of the ram thats why when you tried to open a new screen it crashed
4:35 bro left us at a cliffhanger
I got news for you! I’m happy to say, they in fact made a sequel of Big chungus called “new super Big Chungus featuring Dante from the devil may cry series” made for the ps5 and ps4. They are making a remaster of big chungus for the ps5
Putting non blueray into blueray actually leaves a huge deep scratch on the disc. I know ps have both eye types, but a game automatically runs the blueray eye.
I never knew I had a PS4 slim until now.
this is bringing me back to some of your early vids. 👌🤙
If it reads DVD's, then what would happen if you put in a PC dvd game?
Back in 2018, Microsoft installed a 4K UHD disc driver in the XB1 S it was supposed to play both Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray movies, but I'm surprised how the PS4 Slim doesn't play 4K UHD Blu-ray discs because both consoles were released the same year I can't believe it only plays Blu-ray movies
So if shade is black then is a ps4 slim “slim shady”?
Seeing ur profile avatar on there reminded me of that awesome rubber ducky game they had on ps3. Haven't thought of that game In yrs but it was addicting!
What's the name of that wired PS3 controller you have? It looks really cool with its Xbox-like triggers.
7:02 I think its cool in some roundabout way it knew what was going on, but it just comes up with a completely opposite error message 😂
i don´t really know if wii u disc actually are thicker, maybe they was but i do know that the discs actually are rounded on the sides.
12:55 I actually thought that's how you buy in game purchases as a kid 💀
7:10 its aware you plugged in a wired controller, its just telling u that you cant unplug it. a wired ps3 controller will function ingame but the ps button will not work
a ps4 is better at reading Xbox disks than their own 💀💀
i know its not related to the video but on my ps4 when i played minecraft when the game crashed the ps4 just gave up and showed a black screen but every 5 seconds it switched to grey screen with black > symbols in the top left of the screen even though this happened nearly a year ago i still getting nightmares from that.
I've had a PS4 slim since 2018 😅
Can it read dvd games? Like you put it into a dvd player (or Xbox 360) and can play with that remote.
man i watched you like forever ago scince you used that lofi-ey music sending good vibes
Big chungus.... What a classic🤣🤣🤣
Should I call this the CrossStation?
(cross platform on ps4)
My dad wants to buy me and my sister a new console, and he is thinking about a PS4. Is it good or is it worth to buy a PS5 even if it’s too expensive?
I mean if you can really afford the ps5 I don't see why not would be a great future proofing decision
