I am a Canadian who lived in Ireland for a year and fell in love. With the country, with the people, and with the language (of which unfortunatly I learned very little, aside from "conas atá tú"). These music videos give my goosebumps every time. I have spent many hours listening to different songs that have been featured here. Not only is there such an extrordinary amount of musical talent, but there is a fervant determination to keep this beautiful language alive and thriving.
"Conas atá tú?"** You poor thing, you really didn't learn very much at all! No worries though, I've been studying the language in school since five years old and now ten years later I still find myself stuck in deep mud.
As an Irish person thanks for typing that! There's a lot of people in the comments that make fun of my country/language/people and you're not one of them at least! Go raibh maith agat agus slán leat! (Thank you and goodbye)
Philip While this is no doubt inspired by the performance of Perpetuum Jazzile, it may interest you to know that Perpetuum Jazzile's "thunderstorm" was in turn inspired by a performance of the choir at Kearsney College in KZN.
I am Africa, my Irish boss just introduced me to this song and i can't stop listening even though i don't understand the language. I am happy when people keep their culture and language, your ancestor will be proud 👏 of you
As an Irish American who longs to return to the land my grandma emigrated from, this warms my heart. Just over a century ago, the language was almost extinct, but it has returned in full force.
As a fan of the band for many years, I find this awesome. My late father also loved the English version of the song. However as a fluent Irish speaker, he would have loved this.
I love the build into the first big chorus. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. Kudos to the person playing bass too. A very nice job. The rain and thunder at the beginning is amazing too.
I never tire of this. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, this never fails to change it. Their enthusiasm shines through and lifts you up. Doesn't matter whether you speak Gaelic or not.
Bhí sé seo go hálainn :') Bhí meangadh orm an t-am go léir ag éisteacht leis agus ag féachaint ar stiúideo ildaite. Agus bhí an "baisteach" ag an dtús an chliste! Seo an físeán ab fhearr a rinne sibh go dtí seo, gan dabht. Táim comh bródúil go mbeidh sé feicthe ag daoine ar fud an domhain. Maith sibh! 💚🍀
All the amazing Irish talent in our own language. This song is awesome. Why are such brill going talents not getting through the Eurovision song contest. It would be a great thing if we ever entered a song as gaeilge. I really love this cover of the song.
These kids are having way too much fun doing this song! What an amazing job. Using music as a means to teach young people to speak Gaeilge is an excellent idea, I'm an Irish-American (1st generation) but I don't understand the language (yet). It is a beautiful language and I love listening to these video's - please keep them coming. Well done!
As a person with Irish roots, I know that this brings my ancestors and grandparents' generation so much pride. I wish I had the years and brain cells left to achieve what they have! Comhghairdeas Gaeilge óige!
Superb performance, musicality, drama, exuberant singers, props and videography. Moving, emotional song that speaks to my heart. I don't speak any Irish, but it's in my blood! Thanks a million; sláinte from Arizona, USA! ☘
God, I wish I'd had nearly as great a childhood as these kids. I can't imagine what it must be like to grow up with such a love for your culture and to have such a close relationship with your heritage. The community and closeness looks like something us Americans could really use. May the Irish live forever!
This is hands-down my favorite video from TG Lurgan. This was so well done. These kids are the future of Ireland's language and it's great to share some common ancestors with them.
This was most excellent on every level, creativity, talent, production. These people should be extremely proud of themselves. This merits watching multiple times, thanks muchly.
Amazing how they could translate the words into Irish! And these young people bring it to life so beautifully! You can see it in their faces! Their voices are so pure and clear and I just love listening to this over and over!
This is still my absolute all time favorite version of this song! Probably because I understand what it takes to pull a performance like this together. Awesome Job!
I LOVE this interpretation. The cheeky devil in me wonders just how many dates / nights out / laughs the four chaps had after this evening ? OOOppppsss. Back to the music. INSPIRATIONAL. I revisit this every few days. It ALWAYS brings a smile to my face x ....
Total and complete addiction to this!! No other words for it! If I am feeling down and depressed, this ALWAYS helps! Better than ANY medicine for depression! I have shared this with several friends and LITERALLY ALL of them have gotten addicted to it and say they MUST have a daily dose of this video! AMAZING!
This rivals "Amhrán na gCupán" in terms of production and sound quality, and I thought that one would be hard to beat. Just an outstanding piece of work by all involved. I love it!
Go hiontach! I spent 2 weeks in Gaeltacht when I was living in Ireland. Brilliant experience it was. Ireland is where my wee heart lies. Such a beautiful country, language and people. Keep up the good work. :)
Do you or does anyone know if this is going to be featured on Spotify? I have downloaded the album of TG Lurgan 2014 but I'd love to get this one also! :)
What a performance! Just what's needed to make RUclips worth it! Came here after seeing the magical video by these incredible people.. 'The cup song'... Truly amazing!
Níl ort ach sensational! Brilliant, neamhghnách, ceann de na léirmhínithe is áille riamh, cruthaíonn sé chills, agus cuimilt deora uathu siúd a bhfuil muintir na hAfraice i dteagmháil lena gcroí agus a stair álainn idir fir agus ainmhithe. Cé mhéad cumha in amhrán amháin! Ba cheart go mbrisfeadh an léirmhíniú seo teorainneacha, go gcaillfeadh sé rian ama, laethanta, uaireanta, míonna agus blianta, agus go gcuimhneodh garpháistí na ndaoine óga agus na ndéagóirí seo atá mar chuid den spéaclaí álainn agus iontach seo. Beannaím do gach ball ón mBrasaíl. Comhghairdeas!
I have always love this song by Toto. This is such an amazing song and this version made me fall in love with it again. The use of voices and hands to create the natural sounds from our Creator is magnificent. And I love that this is part of my heritage.
I finally have a computer to register how great this song is!!!! Irish Gaelic is a terrific language to sing in. Lastly, this song is important to me because both my parents were Irish Americans. ---Lee
I'm a sentimental Celtic-Germ in US & this had me in tears. Toto had a Hold on me when they drew The Line. But nothing beats an IV filled by a Make Believe Gaelic nurse named Rosanna from the continent below the Mediterranean.
My friends & I are traveling to Ireland next month. I found this page on Facebook & they shared this video. Now I'm hooked. Can't wait to see the beautiful country of Ireland!
*speechless* ..... WOW! This one is incredible! The beginning just remind me of the rainy season while I was in The Gambia from the 31st of July '17 to the 6th of October '17! I guess THIS is the best cover I EVER heard and I really would like to learn Gaeilge! This is really AMAZING! Keep it up!
The rain and thunder effects at the beginning are amazing!
ikr
They are - but ripped off verbatim from Perpetuum Jazzile.
The whole thing is a cover, the simulated thunderstorm is awesome! why not throw it in :D
Alan Greene because Perpetuum Jazzile put their own amazing spin on the song. This is just a direct copy of their version - nothing original added.
They never claimed to create anything... it's just a fun project for teens to enjoy
As am older man, all I can say is "God bless these wonderful young people".
God bless you too!
Give the person whoever recorded/produced the bass a medal.
As someone who can speak Irish, very proud to see such a young group of performers sing such a classic..as gaelige
Same
I've been trying to learn for YEARS!! Life keeps getting in the way. ❤

As a White South African living in Ireland, this gave me goosebumps, awesome!
Philip While this is no doubt inspired by the performance of Perpetuum Jazzile, it may interest you to know that Perpetuum Jazzile's "thunderstorm" was in turn inspired by a performance of the choir at Kearsney College in KZN.
How do you feel about what is happening to your country?
Philip ....why did you feel the need to say white south african
Adolf white man*
Coupal1 it nit her country
This is one the best advertising for the Irish Language .Go raibh mile maith agat
I am Africa, my Irish boss just introduced me to this song and i can't stop listening even though i don't understand the language. I am happy when people keep their culture and language, your ancestor will be proud 👏 of you
Not many remakes trump the original…but this is one of them. Well done!
One of the most stunning versions of a song I have ever heard. Amazing
What a great incentive for young people to learn Irish. Makes me wish I had spent more time learning the language when I was in school.
Being Irish ☘️ I found this to be the most amazing cover of this song. It’s just “class”
Being half South African and quarter Irish it's more "class / wowwwwww"
I feel you dude. This is one of my favorite songs in English, and no my most favorite song in another language
As an Irish American who longs to return to the land my grandma emigrated from, this warms my heart. Just over a century ago, the language was almost extinct, but it has returned in full force.
Full force?
Deeply moved to tears falling like raindrops
As a fan of the band for many years, I find this awesome. My late father also loved the English version of the song. However as a fluent Irish speaker, he would have loved this.
I love the build into the first big chorus. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. Kudos to the person playing bass too. A very nice job. The rain and thunder at the beginning is amazing too.
I'm Russian and this language sounds very strange and unusual to me, but I still love it and the song. Молодцы!
If you ever meet an irish lad and he ever says Muc na Rúise iad spin his jaw
Love Russia ☘️
I never tire of this. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, this never fails to change it. Their enthusiasm shines through and lifts you up. Doesn't matter whether you speak Gaelic or not.
I agree entirely - their happiness is infectious. I love it.
Irish
I'm Irish and agree
It’s pure unfiltered uplifting talent. Takes you there wherever you are.
Well that was only fecking brilliant

Still just as amazing as when it was recorded. I love this cover so much.
@DeltaVe right 💚💚💚 Ive just remembered & needed to hear it again 💚💚💚
Omg! The energy is over 9000. When the chorus hit I had full body chills.
Agreed. It made the hair on my neck and arms stand on end. That big choir sounds so good.
Through the years, I keep coming back to listen to this again and again!
As a person with Irish roots, I know that this brings my ancestors and grandparents' generation so much pride. I wish I had the years and brain cells left to achieve what they have!

Aside from this being a beautiful performance, the Irish language is so musical and melodic, it further enhances the performance.
God, I wish I'd had nearly as great a childhood as these kids. I can't imagine what it must be like to grow up with such a love for your culture and to have such a close relationship with your heritage. The community and closeness looks like something us Americans could really use.

Greetings from the misty isle of Whidbey. I share this when ever I can and gladly.

This comment should be at the top because I do exactly the same.
Only once?
What a wonderful bunch of stunningly beautiful kids!
I’m in Irish American five generations removed from the ancestral connection, and I can’t get enough of this!
Your still Irish 🇮🇪 no matter

From a scots background what a joyous, life affirming ,uplifting piece ..Wonderful.
Amazing how they could translate the words into Irish! And these young people bring it to life so beautifully! You can see it in their faces! Their voices are so pure and clear and I just love listening to this over and over!
Absolutely incredible, from start to finish! They need to release an album. I’d definitely buy it!
This is still my absolute all time favorite version of this song! Probably because I understand what it takes to pull a performance like this together. Awesome Job!

So cool to see young people still speaking Gaelic! Don’t let it die!!
Played this in the car and my American born kids love this version over the original!

I love the rain effects at the beginning. Awesome!
It doesn't matter how many times I hear this version of this song, I LOVE IT!.........And I remember the song when it first came out!
The choir mistress is a genius, very talented choir. The only instruments a drum and the human voice. And body.
This rivals "Amhrán na gCupán" in terms of production and sound quality, and I thought that one would be hard to beat.
Just an outstanding piece of work by all involved. I love it!
