She is AWESOME. Incredible distortion with dynamic highs and lows at the same time... smooth slides into frys/screams... yet she maintains her diction where you hear not only the lyrics but her FEELING behind it. Everything she sang during the concert was somehow familiar yet new... their harmonies were the BEST thing every time I heard them, no matter what song. I LOVE this one as well. Instant album preorder. Guitars have a heaviness yet a bounce to them... same as her voice. Love it.
I honestly like her a lot. During the live performance, she got better as the concert went on. It’s a new beginning for LP, and old fans love this. Let the new fans experience LP like we did back then when they first came out.
Dude your analysis continues to amaze me. The way you view things and just pick them apart is truly insane. You are truly talented. Been a LP fan since 2000, and im not stopping now. Looking forward to more of your LP reacts.
Been a linkin park fan since literally 2000. Love the group and happy to see a new era coming, RIP to our number one voice of linkin park Chester. Hope this era of the group makes you proud!.
She brings a familiar and nostalgic feel to the band, with certain elements of Chester’s style, yet also doing her own thing. She fits perfectly within the style of the band
She is THE PERFECT FIT. Choosing a female vocalist was a smart move. ANY other male artist wouldve been compared to Chester, this way its a whole different vibe and i love it. RIP to one of the greatest ❤
The perfect fit? She doesn’t believe mental illness is real and that it’s “ghouls and ghosts infecting our mind.”Scientology is a cult and anyone associated with it needs to be evaluated. How disingenuous will it feel to hear her singing Chester’s lyrics?
@@proceduralcoffee Jeez.. chill out "kid", don't get so offended. Chester was one of a kind as a person and as a singer. He was a big part of LP but he wasn't the only part. There is no reason to compare Emily to Chester as it's basically impossible and it's not the point. The point is that LP is back after a long hiatus. They have mourned their friend and they deserve to get back out there with a new vocalist. As Mike said in an interview..let the fans sing for Chester and let Emily be Emily.
8:50 about the "there's a fire under the altar" there are so much ways to interpret this but in context with "its been decided how we lose" and mikes whole first verse thats adresses the critics as well as the fanbase in general, it feels like she talk about the altar we, the fan put chester on. its hard to reach him, but we fan made it even harder to reach him with all our expectations, like we set a fire around the altar we put him on.
If i read from a different comment correctly, this song could also be an explanation for the new lead singer's past, and her experience distancing herself from scientology. The altar carries a very literal religious meaning in this interpretation of the song
Emily Armstrong was the right choice, obviously she meshes well with the band and I personally appreciate that she doesn’t sound like Chester and isn’t trying to
So to point out, the only members of Linkin Park that are still in are Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn and Dave Farrell Pheonix. Collin Brittain and Emily Armstrong are the 2 new members. The guitarist Alex Feder (that was in the FROM ZERO live stream) was only there to fill in for Brad Delson. Brad Delson is still in the band as you can see in the video. Just to confirm.
It is precisely so 'Linkin-park' about it in terms of the decision taken to move forward : "challenge the status quo, switch things around" and that is what's so incredible. Chester WOULD be proud! As the famous line goes "THIS IS THE WAY"
she is a scientologist who sided with Danny Masterson who also attacked one of his victims to silence her to the point Emily was escorted by police from the court house
She's not controversial, it's just the bullshit media cycle, and it'll go away in a couple days once they get bored and move on to the next made-up controversy.
I have been a Linkin Park fan since 2000. Got into them with my current wife. We went from early adulthood to our late 40's and have been to 4-6 of there concerts. This band has been the soundtrack to 24 years of our lives. So to say we were freaking out thewy are back is an understatement. I have been watching reactions since they started coming out. @Knox Hill is the first reactor to make me understand what Mike was trying to say in this song. I love the new singer and the sound of the current band. I can not wait for this album release.
Thank you so much for your reaction. Your analysis of lyrics is unmatched. You hit so many perfect points of how Chester is legend and can’t be replaced. But they’re not. They’re becoming something new.
I've been a Linkin Park fan from the beginning, I've been missing their music since Chester's passing. I'm overwhelming happy they are back and I embrace Emily as lead vocals. She's amazing. Her cover of Numb won me over. Beautiful performance
I just love your analysis of the songs! You make me smile every time and think of songs in a completely different light. Loving the new look/sound of Linkin Park.
I don't think it's been emphasized enough how freaking good of a reaction video this is, knox. As always, you did an amazing job dissecting the meaning and finding reason behind the music and video.
Everything about this song has so many layers, how the new singer and drummers are subdued in the beginning and both of them come to the forefront after that. Both singers telling the same story about getting cut and bleeding. Such a well put together song. Even the video has so many layers, how he gives her the drink like...here, it's on you now, I'm passing the torch. So good.
People saying she doesn’t sound like LP simply don’t understand the essence of LP. Chester will forever be in our hearts; he saved my life with his music. We are all replaceable, but what those critics don’t understand is that she didn’t come to take Chester’s place, but rather to be another chapter in LP’s story, with the same love for the band and for Chester that we have. Stop being spoiled children. Don’t like it? Don’t listen, instead of talking crap from behind a computer.
Linkin Park was my favorite band growing up. Never thought a track would make me tear up. It’s been 7 years and I think everyone would have hated them if they tried to come back sooner
I was always a huge fan of Linkin Park, when Chester took his own life i was way to young to really understand just how impactful that would be. Im happy to see them making music again, No one will ever forget Chester Bennington.
THANK YOU! Thank you so much for this point of view on the lyrics! Makes me appreciate the song even more! Been obsessed since their Livestream a few days ago! She's making Chester and all of us proud! As Mike said: "we're not erasing the past, we're going forward to this new future!" "In the keyboard: it's me, in the vocals Emily Armstrong and... In the role of Chester is all of us" I'm so happy to see many people supporting! Loved your reaction aswell!
Thanks Knox... awesome breakdown and brilliantly dissected. It's been said about a thousand times already, but this is the next evolution of the flawless LINKIN PARK. RIPride Chester. This is going to be AWESOME!
I don't know if anyone mentioned it already, but Colin's more than just a drummer too. He's a writer and producer too, so he's bringing a lot to the table!
I highly recommend 'Friendly Fire' and Chester's other band Dead By Sunrise. I have a voice acting background and use his songs as a vocal warm up. The vocal training itself for me was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but artists like them or Chino Moreno, Chester Bennington are a great impulse to not give up : was almost Leon in those new RE games :)
I’m shocked anyone knows that band. I think I first heard them back in like 2011 and never heard a single person ever mention Dead by sunrise until this comment lol They’re on my old school iPod I got in 2010 😂
@@terrancecaad915 Hi, yeah, I was shocked how underrated that band is. You and I would chill cause I was rocking 'Out of Ashes' on my 8GB iPod Nano back in 2009 :) Also, if you got a sec; 'Trust Company' and 'Spineshank' are quite similar; catchy, full of energy and have that early 2000's vibe.
@@rosiemomo351 Hey, the current STP frontman was in a band called Dry Cell, in 2002 they were signed to WB Records and were supposed to be the next LP but the contract dispute cut short the whole thing. Too bad cuz the guy is real good.
I think that also the song is about the greater society itself. As George Clooney said in Up in the Air, "How much did they pay you to give up on your dreams?" as he fired some office dude who had a minor degree in French Culinary Arts. So many people are in that situation now, where they are looking back on their past trying to figure out how they got here and how they have become someone they never thought they would. Definitely Linkin Park doing what they do best. One song so many interpretations. That's how you stand the test of time.
Emily Armstrong, she used to be in another band before, I really like how, you can hear the similarities in her voice with Chester's, without being exactly like Chester, like it's similar but different, it's like she knows his style of singing and screaming and wants it to be similar so that it still sounds like the classic Linkin Park we all know and love and she can make him proud and do him justice, while also simultaneously still keeping her own style and voice and being herself and still unique and different, so it's still similar in that it keeps that classic LP sound and vibe, while also being fresh and new and unique, it's like, paying homage and remembering Chester while also moving forward in a new and fresh way, I saw another comment that said it well, if it was a male singer there would be too much comparison to Chester, having her still gives that classic LP nostalgia while also being new and fresh and different as well
Knox, you absolutely nailed this. The lyrics of this song struck me most about the return of LP, New Linkin Park, Linkin Park 2.0, whatever we want to refer to them as, but you just got every single symbolism spot on fine sir.
She kills it! Wow! To be honest I wouldn't have expected it to sound so good. She also sang "One Step Closer" on the live stream and the screaming parts were absolutely superb. She's a perfect fit. Bravo Mr. Shinoda 👏
She brings a very similar level of energy and intensity as chester did without trying to sound just like him. That is exactly what was needed. Keep the same general sound to the vocals but do not try to emulate the man that just cheapens it. This was the right move.
Thank you for reacting to this Knox 🙏🏻 this means more to me than TDOSS. Linkin Park and Eminem are my Top 2 favorite musical acts of all time. And this year I got a new album from both of them (LP’s to come later as of the time of this comment). I cried.
There's so much hate in comments on social media but every reactor/musician I see on RUclips loves it. So do I of course. I think she was a great pick has a great voice. Not bad screaming either. Looking forward to the album in November.
@@JemJam2976 nah I stayed with them till after minutes to midnight. After the next album I left. Wasn't a fan of what they had to say about the older fans plus the new direction they took. But Killswitch engage was able to have a great new singer then Howard left to do his own thing. So I don't know. I will say I'm not a fan of all the audio filter crap it sounds REALLY fake. Imo
Chester was no doubt one of the most talented singers. Chester and Mike Shinoda are both incredible. Chester is one of the very few people that could give me goosebumps hearing him sing live. We can never get him back, but today we have Linkin Park back.
Watching Knox go stun locked when Emily started singing lol. Two new members, Emily is on vocals and Colin on drums. Rob has moved over from the group now.
I love the way you analized the lyrics... As a LP fan, i will always support them, like i did in the past... There will be haters or critics, but they are literally moving foward making the LP from zero! Im excited to the LP future!!!
I miss Chester a lot. The band has been a part of my life for around 20 years. I will always listen to the old stuff. I like the new singer. The new direction. Mostly because the linkin park vibes, sounds, and feel is still there. ❤❤
Hey Knox. I was waiting for your reaction on this and as always, Great breakdown especially on the symbolism the Emptiness Machine, with respect to the critics and people's perceptions on them, because, we lost Chester 5 months after their latest album "One More Light" was negatively received for being different from their original music, even though it was good. So the new Singer/Vocalist is Emily Armstrong and the new Drummer is Colin Brittain in for Rob Bourdon, and in the role of Chester Bennington, is all of us. Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell stay on in the band. Also Knox, tell me this. How is your brain so sharp, cause by analyzing the slight difference in the percussion, you realize that there's a new drummer? Haters and critics will always be there, but we cannot spend our time thinking on what they said and thinking what you're doing is not good, cause that's exactly what they want in the end. You should watch the livestream where they introduce their new album and the new members in a concert an seeing the live chat will make you understand how toxic people can be and how they refuse to accept change even if its the only way out.
Yes sir!! Emily Armstrong!! Welcome to Linkin Park and RIP to Chester Bennington 🌹🌹 This era will be insane!! She’s so damn good and she will do Chester justice and I’m here for it New drummer is Collin Britton, he worked with Mike during sessions and they are very musically the same, both pay multiple instruments and compose and produce music so instant match
Where it is genius is when they start the harmony and you think they are going to provide the old Linkin Park rasp with harmonies. AND then she drops that hard rasp solo and the song explodes. This is AMAZING on every aspect a song could deliver.
I like her in this song, I haven’t been a fan of her singing the older songs. I think she’ll get better in time but I think they should focus more on the new material that’s aimed more for her. I think the album will be pretty good.
@@terrancecaad915 i feel like she struggles singing good with the quieter singing, but does well with the louder singing, does anyone else feel that way? (btw its alright to critisize someone while still supporting them)

You are correct in that the drummer is new as well. The new singer is Emily Armstrong and the new drummer is Colin Brittain. I absolutely love this song and look forward to the new album! The symbolism in the video too of each member just doing their own thing, office job, deliveryman, bartender... then slowly as the song progresses each one comes back together was such a great visual! If you haven't already, on Linkin Park's youtube page is about an hour long interview they had where they discuss how things came together. Interesting video for sure!
When I heard Heavy with Chester and Kiiara I knew a female voice would become part of Linkin Park. Losing Chester nearly lost us such an influential band. But they held it together and this opens a new chapter, the turning of a page of a story that did not end with tragedy... That still brings hope. Many of LPs tracks were a light into the darkness many people feel. I know, hoped, never gave up that they would come back. This is going to continue to be an amazing ride.
I honestly think they wrote this song about that hate they knew they’d receive straight away. I can’t to see what this new era of Linkin Park has in store. Chester is damn proud man.
@@TripleTapHK If you take a moment and carefully think about it, this song's exactly addressing critics like you who thinks how the band should do and progress, rather than letting them decide for themselves. Let that sink in. 5:21

Dude, your interpretation literally proves the point of why Linkin Park became so big in the first place. Their music has a meaning and emotion behind their lyrics but resonates with so many different people because it can be interpreted in so many different ways. @@shuzelice Yep! Favourite band, seeing them again next month! 👌
I'm a long-time fan of Linkin Park, and I'm so here for the new era. RIP Chester 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
When I see all this love it's makes me feel more loved 😍 💕
She is AWESOME. Incredible distortion with dynamic highs and lows at the same time... smooth slides into frys/screams... yet she maintains her diction where you hear not only the lyrics but her FEELING behind it.
Everything she sang during the concert was somehow familiar yet new... their harmonies were the BEST thing every time I heard them, no matter what song.
I LOVE this one as well. Instant album preorder. Guitars have a heaviness yet a bounce to them... same as her voice. Love it.
💝😘😘
I honestly like her a lot. During the live performance, she got better as the concert went on. It’s a new beginning for LP, and old fans love this. Let the new fans experience LP like we did back then when they first came out.
Lol no
True Linkin Park fans love this new chapter of jaw dropping music. As for Emily she has balls of steel to do what shes doing... john
This. ❤
Sadly people are still comparing her to Chester..
I mean she is friends. with Masterson and also attacks women
I absolutely love this interpretation of that line 🖤
If i read from a different comment correctly, this song could also be an explanation for the new lead singer's past, and her experience distancing herself from scientology. The altar carries a very literal religious meaning in this interpretation of the song
Emily Armstrong was the right choice, obviously she meshes well with the band and I personally appreciate that she doesn’t sound like Chester and isn’t trying to
She does seem to be brining the same level of energy and intensity with the screaming portions though. Which i think was a good choice.
you pointed it out, dude
Felt like my head was waiting to hear Chesters voice but my heart knew it wasn’t coming. She did great.
Brad decided he will not join them in the tour, for personal reason something controversial happening
@@gilkwebastop spreading misinformation no one said that

@gilkweba don't spread misinfo. He won't be touring but that's not what he said.

Shows are gonna be fucking nuts. The healing that we all need is upon us and the energy is going to be unreal
She might be controversial to some, but I think it was smart not to try to just drop a Chester sound-alike in there, as other bands have done.
It is precisely so 'Linkin-park' about it in terms of the decision taken to move forward : "challenge the status quo, switch things around" and that is what's so incredible. Chester WOULD be proud! As the famous line goes "THIS IS THE WAY"
@@marcjy5228And the famous reply: This is the way.
You were referring to the Madalorian, yeah? 😊
she is a scientologist who sided with Danny Masterson who also attacked one of his victims to silence her to the point Emily was escorted by police from the court house
@@marcjy5228 Doubt it.
I knew your reaction wouldn’t disappoint. Big respect. As a true LP fan this gives me goosebumps, welcome Emily ❤
They got the sound. LP IS BACK
Thank you so much for your reaction. Your analysis of lyrics is unmatched. You hit so many perfect points of how Chester is legend and can’t be replaced. But they’re not. They’re becoming something new.
Her voice is already Linkin Park. She killed it, completely!
First time hearing this song I cried, linkin park saved me from myself and now seeing them back was like incredible
I don't think it's been emphasized enough how freaking good of a reaction video this is, knox.
As always, you did an amazing job dissecting the meaning and finding reason behind the music and video.
I'm pretty sure that part of Chesters soul lives in this womans heart, RIP Chester.
So good.
Unlike any other reactor you explain all the lyrics that really shows how good you are and you earn a sub for that
People saying she doesn’t sound like LP simply don’t understand the essence of LP.
The single is fire! So excited for the new album.
Linkin Park was my favorite band growing up. Never thought a track would make me tear up. It’s been 7 years and I think everyone would have hated them if they tried to come back sooner
New singer is great!! I'm happy what new era of Linkin Park will bring. Middle finger to haters.
I genuinely love listening to you break songs down. The lyrics, the music, the style… keep doing you. ❤
👋💝😘😘
I love it! A new era, a new start for LP. Chester will never be forgotten ♥🙏 I think he would be proud of Mike and the band!!
😘😘😘😘💝
This was the best possible way for them to make a comeback and the killed it........ RIP Chester but your legacy continues......
Rip Chester 🕊️🙏🙏🙏🙏🕊️🕊️
Thanks Knox... awesome breakdown and brilliantly dissected.
It's been said about a thousand times already, but this is the next evolution of the flawless LINKIN PARK. RIPride Chester. This is going to be AWESOME!
This song is literally FLAWLESS!!! RIP Chester, all love forever brother 🙏
I think I first heard them back in like 2011 and never heard a single person ever mention Dead by sunrise until this comment lol
They’re on my old school iPod I got in 2010 😂
@@terrancecaad915 Hi, yeah, I was shocked how underrated that band is. You and I would chill cause I was rocking 'Out of Ashes' on my 8GB iPod Nano back in 2009 :) Also, if you got a sec; 'Trust Company' and 'Spineshank' are quite similar; catchy, full of energy and have that early 2000's vibe.
Chester also did some concerts with the band Stone Temple Pilots as their lead singer and the songs and performances were out of this world!
@@rosiemomo351 Hey, the current STP frontman was in a band called Dry Cell, in 2002 they were signed to WB Records and were supposed to be the next LP but the contract dispute cut short the whole thing. Too bad cuz the guy is real good.
Dead by Sunrise are / were an excellent band
I think that also the song is about the greater society itself. As George Clooney said in Up in the Air, "How much did they pay you to give up on your dreams?" as he fired some office dude who had a minor degree in French Culinary Arts. So many people are in that situation now, where they are looking back on their past trying to figure out how they got here and how they have become someone they never thought they would. Definitely Linkin Park doing what they do best. One song so many interpretations. That's how you stand the test of time.
Emily... welcome to the LP family. You crushed that concert.
She sure crushed her voice. x)
My first time hearing this. Im excited for the way Linkin Park goes! She's got an amazing voice!
The new era of linkin park will be great and new

@@TripleTapHK You're cringe.

Wow a new era is new??? Incredible!
Your analysis is the best I heard so far. And new additions to the nand are great❤
Emily Armstrong, she used to be in another band before, I really like how, you can hear the similarities in her voice with Chester's, without being exactly like Chester, like it's similar but different, it's like she knows his style of singing and screaming and wants it to be similar so that it still sounds like the classic Linkin Park we all know and love and she can make him proud and do him justice, while also simultaneously still keeping her own style and voice and being herself and still unique and different, so it's still similar in that it keeps that classic LP sound and vibe, while also being fresh and new and unique, it's like, paying homage and remembering Chester while also moving forward in a new and fresh way, I saw another comment that said it well, if it was a male singer there would be too much comparison to Chester, having her still gives that classic LP nostalgia while also being new and fresh and different as well
Knox, you absolutely nailed this. The lyrics of this song struck me most about the return of LP, New Linkin Park, Linkin Park 2.0, whatever we want to refer to them as, but you just got every single symbolism spot on fine sir.
She doesn’t sound like Chester but she sounds like LINKIN PARK 🔥🔥🔥
She kills it! Wow! To be honest I wouldn't have expected it to sound so good. She also sang "One Step Closer" on the live stream and the screaming parts were absolutely superb. She's a perfect fit. Bravo Mr. Shinoda 👏
Fuck the haters, this shit sounds like LP and I'm all for it!
She brings a very similar level of energy and intensity as chester did without trying to sound just like him. That is exactly what was needed. Keep the same general sound to the vocals but do not try to emulate the man that just cheapens it. This was the right move.
💯
Thank you for reacting to this Knox 🙏🏻 this means more to me than TDOSS. Linkin Park and Eminem are my Top 2 favorite musical acts of all time. And this year I got a new album from both of them (LP’s to come later as of the time of this comment). I cried.
There's so much hate in comments on social media but every reactor/musician I see on RUclips loves it. So do I of course. I think she was a great pick has a great voice. Not bad screaming either. Looking forward to the album in November.
very nice choice indeed
Those detractors aren't true fans imo. They probably stopped fuckin with the band after Meteora anyway.
@@JemJam2976 nah I stayed with them till after minutes to midnight.
After the next album I left. Wasn't a fan of what they had to say about the older fans plus the new direction they took.
But then again almost never does a new singer work for a band.
Drowning pool, soils singer completely ruined the band imo.
But Killswitch engage was able to have a great new singer then Howard left to do his own thing.
So I don't know. I will say I'm not a fan of all the audio filter crap it sounds REALLY fake. Imo
Biased influncers
Right! Because social media is all about cancel culture and policing everybody. Reactors are about the art.
It's not a replacement. It's a new chapter let's just appreciate the new sound cause it's great
This is 🔥, LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN THIS IS FUCKN 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
I’m really excited for the project after hearing her voice
Hell yeah dude! Chester will never be replaced he’s a legend! This is just a new chapter of LP and they killed this tune! 🤘🏻
Yes sir!! Emily Armstrong!! Welcome to Linkin Park and RIP to Chester Bennington 🌹🌹
This era will be insane!! She’s so damn good and she will do Chester justice and I’m here for it
New drummer is Collin Britton, he worked with Mike during sessions and they are very musically the same, both pay multiple instruments and compose and produce music so instant match
she is amazing cant wait to see her future performance
4:06 yeah bro, she is good! She has a set of pipes!!!
I'm glad to see them moving forward with new music. This way, we can still hold Chester close while appreciating what Emily can do.
Where it is genius is when they start the harmony and you think they are going to provide the old Linkin Park rasp with harmonies. AND then she drops that hard rasp solo and the song explodes. This is AMAZING on every aspect a song could deliver.
💝😘😘😘
YES!!!! I've been waiting for someone to pick this up!
10:59 Yup! he is not Rob Bourdon. Colin Brittain joins as a new drummer.
A new era. 🙏 I love the song and Emilys voice. 👍⭐️🥂❤ Chester 4Evr in our hearts. ❤️🙏⭐️
I still don’t know how to feel. Just waiting for the album to fully judge the comeback
It's absolutely ok to struggle. 🖤🦇
I like her in this song, I haven’t been a fan of her singing the older songs. I think she’ll get better in time but I think they should focus more on the new material that’s aimed more for her. I think the album will be pretty good.
@@terrancecaad915 i know what you mean. The old songs are characterozed by Chester. No one could reach him.
@@terrancecaad915
i feel like she struggles singing good with the quieter singing, but does well with the louder singing, does anyone else feel that way?

There would be less hate if she stopped trying to emulate Chester's grit and sang on pitch. That would be great.
@@TripleTapHK If you take a moment and carefully think about it, this song's exactly addressing critics like you who thinks how the band should do and progress, rather than letting them decide for themselves. Let that sink in. 5:21

During the Bands first live performance a few days ago she said Mike found her 8 months ago and she learnt to sing right from their that is amazing and crazy wow.
Dude, your interpretation literally proves the point of why Linkin Park became so big in the first place. Their music has a meaning and emotion behind their lyrics but resonates with so many different people because it can be interpreted in so many different ways. She brings so much new but familiar to the band at the same time that it explains why Mike and the boys felt it was time to move back into the limelight. Im so excited for what theyre going to do.
The more I listen to this the more it clicks, it feels SO right. This new setup will be epic.
