This song is amazing as a fan LOL and LP. A missed reference but also a pretty deep cut, when Emily was announced as the new lead singer one of the immediate criticisms thrown at her was that she would never be able to scream like Chester. One of his most famous screams is in the song Given up where he screams for 18 seconds straight, it's also notable because he was shown to be able to do it live as well. All of that to say that Emily unleashed her own 17 second scream and even added a degree of difficulty because right before the scream she said "This what you asked for..." pronouncing those words takes additional breath control on top of the long scream. So in a way this is her telling the fans, and the world in general this is what you were worried about and this is what you wanted to see. And then also adding that she is aware of how much weight the mantle she took on really holds. "Heavy is the Crown." LP is arguably our generations greatest rock band, and even if they had stopped making music their archives put them in top 10 all time contention. So maybe a little 4th wall break by saying the crown is heavy. And then you have M. Shinoda with the Fort Minor vibes essentially telling fans, critics, the world in general that we counted them out in the first verse and now need to beware because he is still that guy in the second verse. It's such a perfect second single. I am excited for the album. One last thing, there have been rumors of a female vocalist for LP since April of this year and I am sure that the album writing process was done long before they dropped their first single so in true LP fashion, they knew exactly what the criticism was going to be and knew exactly how to shut it down. I think Linkin Park is currently in a "look, she can do the same kinds of things you're used to, just a bit different. Same band, different font." Because that scream definitely seemed line an homage to the long-ass scream Chester did for Given Up. I have a feeling the first handful of tracks are going to be very similar to original lineup, and then they're going to try to slip some more differences in later.
Im late here but this reaction is the perfect example of why you are my favorite reactor on youtube, not only do you catch the lyrics, the symbolism and the mix, instruments etc. but you also pick up on league esports lore on top of that, time and dedication shows my man great reaction as always
Don't forget that 17 minute scream is also a great homage to Chester's 17 second scream in the song " Given up" from the Minutes to Midnight album, I saw his spirit in Emily when she did that scream She is worthy of becoming the new Vocalist for linkin park 100% through and through
I love how this clip draws a parallel between Faker and Emily (They even showed rhyming footage at the end). They both, each for their own reason, find themselves in a situation where there are huge expectations placed on them. They are professionals in their field, but are in the role of “crown holders,” i.e., in a special position, and all eyes are on them. Every mistake they make will be scrutinized under a microscope because everyone expects them to be perfect. That crown is very heavy, actually.
The emptiness machine was like an allegory of the critics and some fans of their comeback and this one could be an allegory of how they feel about their comeback.
Man, this reaction really nails the vibe! The mix of Linkin Park and League of Legends is just pure fire 🔥. And Emily’s energy is contagious! Can't wait to vibe with the album, it feels like it's gonna hit different 🎶💥.
You are actually the goat knowing T1 and some of league's background. There's a lot of references, like the start of the video showing the journey of last year and all their great plays, and a shitton more that I think people miss out, I don't expect you to get them but man, you're still the goat for knowing some of league and T1 for that matter. Doing the react for us on the road, you are dedicated and my favorite and probably one of, if not the best reactors on youtube. GOAT status man for you.
I find it so genius from them to have a female singer now because every male singer would just be compared to Chester and that isn't great for everyone involved. And you might think of her what you want, on stage she's FIRE!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I love this especially because it is exactly what I wanted. Over the years these cinematics have gotten so much better and better so every year I wait for what riot is cooking up, and last year my favorite team won so my expectations were through the roof and then they brought in a band that I listened a lot to growing up. This is EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR. There's so much deeper meanings I wanna keep talking about but it'll be boring coming from me.
@@the_woohoo for league fans, they definitely do not look the same, I can tell all of them apart, Riot and their animations became more and more incredible throughout the years

Thanks for this reaction! Your knowledge of League of Legends allows you to appreciate the music video in its entirety. This is what I like most about reaction videos: they bring adjacent worlds together.
I have been a Linkin Park fan for 14 years now (since is was 2-3 years old). My friend in physics told me about the new Linkin Park song, and when I found out about them associating the song to League of Legends, that same friend had to tell our pre-calc teacher “Don’t call on Alexis during class today. She found out about Linkin Park and League of Legends this morning, and now she’s so excited she can’t speak proper English at the moment.” I can’t wait to see what Linkin Park brings in November and in this new chapter of their band’s career.
Mr. Hill! Of all the reaction videos I watched you 'exposition' / breakdown of the lyrics (not to mentioned the instrumentation) is by far the best and I thank you for that!
Hey Knox, just wanna say thank you for appreciating League in each of your reaction videos about it and while I'm at it, thank you for always being so thoughtful in each and every reaction video you do in general. Going through a real negative point in my life and sometimes seeing someone react genuinely positively to an IP I love dearly is really helpful for conceptualizing that the world isn't *all* bad. It's inspiring to see and hear how much you love music. Keep doing what you're doing, buddy.
So happy LP is back they make amazing music. Just one comment though I think you misspoke at the beginning of the video you said "Aoki was getting the tables ready" Joe Han is DJ for LP. Pretty sure you just misspoke but just in case.
Way to be thorough with the video, the players, league, and LP in this review. You know the past, present, and future of what you are saying with great insight. Amazing review, I didn't know you before this, but you just found another fan, sir. Great shit!
"This is what you asked for" and then proceeds to do a long-ass scream like Chester's on 'Given up'. In fact, there were people saying she can't scream that long in that song.
There is something so visually perfect about hanging out with Faker coming out and then as you square the camera on his animated face it cuts back to her going "This is what you asked for"... like not referring to Faker getting what he asked for but his appearance him showing up to school you is what you asked for. It's such a perfect Boss Battle style introduction to Faker in that dichotomy... that's not as much about the music as just the way these animators get it. It's like they sit there, head bobbing to the music while they think how to make these badass animations. So good.
It's also great that they stylized Faker as Azir. To be a final boss, Unkillable Demon King, champion like Emperor of Shurima seems to be fitting very well.
The point, my dear friend@@Camis419 : How can a scream recorded months ago be a "response" to haters that didn't know she even existed 3 weeks ago? This song was also created for this collaboration, so you can't even say the release of this song as the second single is said response. It's a nice coincidence is all. Make sense?
It's a response to haters because they knew way ahead of time people would complain that she can't be like Chester. And they were right, cuz here we are. @darkstarknight95
8:50 oner actually changes to a different champ (lee sin) , his signature champion to fight back Caps(the goat of EU players). This feels as visceral as LP did when i was a teen, she's not ever gonna replace chester, she is doing a damn fine job, i think hed be proud of he intensity.
Gotta check out the live version the dropped a video on yesterday. She did a pretty legit scream and the performance sounded great! First reaction to the new chick was ok ok. give her 6-12 months and i have a feeling she's gonna be on point live 99% of the time.
I have been a Linkin Park fan for 28 years. Went to a couple of rock festivals where they played and were just picking up steam and then I saw their headline tour for Meteora. Nothing compared to seeing them live. That being said, you’re right, we can love and cherish everything Chester helped make LP into but just because he’s gone, the rest of the band shouldn’t have to go with him.
Something i love about LP being animated, Breaking the Habit is still my top music vid from them. Like emptiness machine, this song brought back all the old feels and chills making a very happy LP fan here.
Guys idk what to say....im a Fan for like Meteora....And thats exactly this linkin park sound...i saw that video and hear it and i got goosebumps and tears in my eyes crazy i think Linkin Park could not have a better singer after Chester!!
He's also the art director of the band! Love Joe so much. Look at the vid for The Emptiness Machine, at the stage at the end. ITS THE SAME ONE FROM THE THE LIVE DEBUT
Nobody talk enough about the quality of the artstyle of the clip ! Funny that you mentioned that it remembers you the Arcane artstyle, it was my first reaction too. I checked and it is not Fortiche who made this animation (so not the studio who made Arcane) but another french studio. I am so impressed by the quality of those french animation studios animation and proud of my country. So cool that Riot write another page of its art History with a french studio ❤
Was i the only one tearing up when I heard that long scream?! I agree with Knox, that these two new songs have deeper meaning when you listen to the lyrics. First one was for all the critics while this one was for the fans.
So many League of Legends gamers are upset that Linkin Park is getting screen time, let's be honest here Linkin Park is bigger than LOL itself and as someone who is a fan of the band and game, this is a huge win.
You're disillusioned on who is bigger in this day and age and yes the song is great but they inserted the band too much in the animation WORLDs is about the story of the battle to get to the top and to defend the crown for literally the GOD of pro-play FAKER because having that much riding on his legacy = Heavy is the Crown This is why League community isn't impressed with the video.
From what I saw, it's mostly Korean lol fans that were mad about it. Makes sense since league to them is more popular than pretty much any band, foreign or local, but they fail to remember that rito is an NA company and they have been moving torwards incorporating big bands!/artists over the past few years.
It's not really that LP is getting screen time. It's the fact that Riot made a habit of celebrating the winners in the music video, and this year, they kinda failed. You can see the players, but it doesn't pay tribute to their win or the champs they played (except Zeus and Faker), and also they don't really show the teams they beat, just a BLG flag and Caps got more screen time for some reason, maybe because this year the worlds takes place in Europe
Oh this is so true...LoL was born in 2009, and LP started from 1996 and was relevant ever since; so it's a blessing for League to get LP for a Worlds anthem.
not to be the one who spoils the mood here but generally the worlds cinematics are dedicated to the players only, this is certainly a first. And LP might be older but League is sooo much bigger. Besides all that, i still really like the vid and new LP.
this is what you asked for heavy is the crown, could also be taken as for worlds and for T1, the roster always wanted to be on the top and have the crown, but then again a lot of hardships happened at the end they achieved it, but realised there is more to that. Because after this success the fans require more of them, the expectations are higher and there is even bigger weight on their shouders
I've watched many reactions to this song at this point and I'm happy when I see a reactor interpreting that same double theme I've personally seen in this song of how it seems as much an anthem for Worlds 2024 as it is for Linkin Parks new beginnings. Only saw 1 other Mexican female reactor see that like I did. It is a fantastic song 🖤
You had the same thoughts I did with the lines 'This is what you asked for' and 'Heavy is the crown'. Us as fans were teased with a LP comeback and most of us wanted to see so, there's the 'this is what you asked for' referring to what we as fans wanted. I think 'Heavy is the crown' really refers to the weight of the crown of Chester Bennington and Emily Armstrong trying to carry it on. It's only two songs in, but I think she's doing a great job.

Im late here but this reaction is the perfect example of why you are my favorite reactor on youtube, not only do you catch the lyrics, the symbolism and the mix, instruments etc. but you also pick up on league esports lore on top of that, time and dedication shows my man great reaction as always
Don't forget that 17 minute scream is also a great homage to Chester's 17 second scream in the song " Given up" from the Minutes to Midnight album, I saw his spirit in Emily when she did that scream
She is worthy of becoming the new Vocalist for linkin park 100% through and through
One of the BEST reactions I've seen on this anthem. Your knowledge on both LP and the pro LoL scene makes it so interesting!
@2:22 that not Aoki thats Joe Hahn who's been with LP since the beginning on turntables and mixing
Yeah, had to go back and listen again when he said that. Wasn't sure I heard him right lol
Glad i’m not the only who noticed that

The song really feels like "New Divide" and "Faint'' all over again
Absolutely beautiful voice so happy they chose her
Emily is doing a fantastic job and it’s nice having Linkin Park back.
That scream gave me chills
Man, this reaction really nails the vibe! The mix of Linkin Park and League of Legends is just pure fire 🔥. And Emily’s energy is contagious! Can't wait to vibe with the album, it feels like it's gonna hit different 🎶💥.
LP is back! I cannot wait for them to come to Toronto and perform! Songs a banger, they're 2 for 2 with Emily.
This brings back serious Meteora vibes. Feels just like Faint. Emily clapping back hard. She's doing an job here
Everyone keeps saying Faint. But my first impression by it was more so something off Living Things. Either way I'm stoked this song was a banger.
@@19andrewhb92 Tbh the starting synth rock part felt like Burn it down for me.
@@19andrewhb92 to me the whole music feels like Living Things, but the synth melody really looks like faint
Yes. I was looking for this comment. Opening of the song instantly reminds of faint.
They got an animated Faker. That dude is nasty, A freaking beast!
WOW!! THAT SCREAM!!! 🗣️
Been waiting for this reaction from my guy
thats a perfect fit for LP, really!!! miss them for so long. We're here for this new chapter!! exciting
Oh yes i was waiting for you. So glad you reacted to this 😂
Emily killed it with the scream in this song. I am certain we are gonna get more fantastic music from Linkin Park in the future.
All i asked for was for her to do a 17 sec long scream, she provided so I'm good.
I find it so genius from them to have a female singer now because every male singer would just be compared to Chester and that isn't great for everyone involved. And you might think of her what you want, on stage she's FIRE!!! 🔥🔥🔥
"Cartoon violence is FUN!" sent me. 🤣
League has some of the best discography and the number of powerhouse artists they bring is even better.
when the scream starts I love how he just looks over to his clock
I can't even begin to imagine watching this whole thing live. Players going on stage, LP singing, the air tingly with worlds season! MAAAAAN THE HYPE!
@@Halfdeadperson wow you mean what you want from LP is MV that all asian player looks like same person ???
@@the_woohoo for league fans, they definitely do not look the same, I can tell all of them apart, Riot and their animations became more and more incredible throughout the years

random guy like you doesn' matter
Same. I’m a fan of LoL esports and I was excited already for Worlds, but seeing LP making the anthem is beyond great
I was searching for a reaction from someone in the music who knows a little of LOL T1 and of course Faker, the GOAT. And finally always the same smart guy who break down lyrics and enjoy metal.
Always a pleasure to watch your reactions!!!
Amazing reaction and analysis! Thank you! Good luck in your gig!
I really love how you analyze songs, your interpretation of the meanings behind songs and your analysis of the actual music is so interesting
THIS IS WHAT YOU ASKED
FOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRR
🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥
Emily shutting up the haters
Channeling her inner Chester and knocking everyone out of their chair! That’s a 15 second scream on the studio version. She did it live in Germany and held 11 seconds after a 2 hour set list already played = 🔥
Thanks for this reaction! Your knowledge of League of Legends allows you to appreciate the music video in its entirety. This is what I like most about reaction videos: they bring adjacent worlds together.
Mike's voice sounds like young Mike's voice. This is circa LP 2003 sounds and I'm loving it ❤❤
I have been a Linkin Park fan for 14 years now (since is was 2-3 years old).
Q: How many reactions to Heavy is the Crown are you going to watch?
Me: YES!!!!!
Love ur reacts. U listen, u explain, u know lore, enjoy video. Its so complex and enjoyable to watch.
WOAH HEY I DIDNT KNOW THIS WAS HAPPENINGGG
Also!! Season 2 of Arcane drops in November! Theres a whole trailer already!
Mr.
Just one comment though I think you misspoke at the beginning of the video
you said "Aoki was getting the tables ready"
Joe Han is DJ for LP. Pretty sure you just misspoke but just in case.
This was an amazing reaction with good understanding of League and music!!❤
Emily screams made my tears fall by themselves.
❤emily ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Way to be thorough with the video, the players, league, and LP in this review. You know the past, present, and future of what you are saying with great insight. Amazing review, I didn't know you before this, but you just found another fan, sir. Great shit!
omg i saw the world premiere live in hamburg!so awesome 🤩
"This is what you asked for" and then proceeds to do a long-ass scream like Chester's on 'Given up'. In fact, there were people saying she can't scream that long in that song.
Linkin park is back for sure
There is something so visually perfect about hanging out with Faker coming out and then as you square the camera on his animated face it cuts back to her going "This is what you asked for"... like not referring to Faker getting what he asked for but his appearance him showing up to school you is what you asked for. It's such a perfect Boss Battle style introduction to Faker in that dichotomy... that's not as much about the music as just the way these animators get it. It's like they sit there, head bobbing to the music while they think how to make these badass animations. So good.
This song was an absolute Emily show 🙏🏻🔥
Omg.,,, that scream had me breathless!!!! What an amazing song and video. I loved it!
You know you've made it big when you're literally considered THE final boss of an entire game built around competition.
It's also great that they stylized Faker as Azir. To be a final boss, Unkillable Demon King, champion like Emperor of Shurima seems to be fitting very well.
@@MichuV5 Agreed, very fitting. Especially since, aren't both Faker and Azir friendly and fairly humble?
I'm genuinely surprised you are pretty well informed/versed about the League scene, i love it
That LONG scream was Emily's response to the haters. The two singles are absolutely great!! 🔥
Sure, if we're pretending this wasn't recorded 6 months ago. 😉
@@darkstarknight95what the hell is your point?
The point, my dear friend@@Camis419 : How can a scream recorded months ago be a "response" to haters that didn't know she even existed 3 weeks ago? This song was also created for this collaboration, so you can't even say the release of this song as the second single is said response. It's a nice coincidence is all. Make sense?
It's a response to haters because they knew way ahead of time people would complain that she can't be like Chester. And they were right, cuz here we are. @darkstarknight95
@@linkinfool Future prediction is a much better take. Thank you.
I'm so happy they are back. Emily is such a good add.
I like how you remembered the names of some of the players of T1 as well!
8:50 oner actually changes to a different champ (lee sin) , his signature champion to fight back Caps(the goat of EU players). The song bangs.I get why its getting a lot of hate from the Lol community though. People wanted to see a lot more of the T1 triumph instead of the screentime LP got. Sad but it is what it is.
Every time I hear a hype song I hit the Reaction trail for five or six of y'all to feed my confirmation bias. Good stuff Knox, you do a lot of lyric analysis and it's fun to listen to.
Linkin Park, HELL YEAH BROTHER!!!🤘🤘🤘
Indeed sometimes the crown can be indeed heavy
Something i love about LP being animated, Breaking the Habit is still my top music vid from them. Like emptiness machine, this song brought back all the old feels and chills making a very happy LP fan here.
This "bleed it out"-line in a song with that long scream, is just: "what do i need to do, to be enough for you?"
I love it
Guys idk what to say....im a Fan for like Meteora....And thats exactly this linkin park sound...i saw that video and hear it and i got goosebumps and tears in my eyes crazy i think Linkin Park could not have a better singer after Chester!!
Not Aoki, the dj's name is Joe Han
He's also the art director of the band! Love Joe so much. Look at the vid for The Emptiness Machine, at the stage at the end. ITS THE SAME ONE FROM THE THE LIVE DEBUT
The fact that you love and play leauge too makes me an even bigger fan of yours bro good stuff
Waited all day for this
Thanks for your approval on going in the Chelsea hotel 😘 Blake’s a cool guy!!
Linkin Park is no stranger to video games,
Castle of Glass
I believe it was for Medal of Honor
yep
"Reminds me of Arcane", because the studio behind Arcance (Fortiche) also made the clip, since ths song will be in Arcane's soundtrack
Love this fuckin song linkin park is 2 for 2
Nobody talk enough about the quality of the artstyle of the clip !
At 7:30 you said he's one of the GOATs, but he's the undisputed one, like Wayne Gretzky
Congratulations Knox 👏🏼 🎉.
I am very excited for LP new album 😁
From what I understand this is only 1 second shorter than Chester's screen
pretty nice reactions when someone also knows the game and the names of the players. Respect that. Nice one.
She does the full scream live
Was i the only one tearing up when I heard that long scream?!
I agree with Knox, that these two new songs have deeper meaning when you listen to the lyrics.
First one was for all the critics while this one was for the fans.
So many League of Legends gamers are upset that Linkin Park is getting screen time, let's be honest here Linkin Park is bigger than LOL itself and as someone who is a fan of the band and game, this is a huge win.
You're disillusioned on who is bigger in this day and age and yes the song is great but they inserted the band too much in the animation WORLDs is about the story of the battle to get to the top and to defend the crown for literally the GOD of pro-play FAKER because having that much riding on his legacy = Heavy is the Crown
This is why League community isn't impressed with the video.
Man, this music just makes me tear up. The feels is crazy specially when you've been a LoL player since season 1
i don't care what people say, linkin park is so back! i literally got goosebumps on that long scream
this is what you asked for heavy is the crown, could also be taken as for worlds and for T1, the roster always wanted to be on the top and have the crown, but then again a lot of hardships happened at the end they achieved it, but realised there is more to that.
Hater can’t be fans of the band, otherwise they’d support them…. Haters can just swivel on🖕& do one!!
