That was no joke, we actually grew up and were brought up exactly like that
We are very aware that our grandparents caused hell on earth. and today we are afraid that their children and grandchildren might have forgotten it. and that is why even today we are not in a position to recognize and name current problems for fear of being xenophobic..
Don't get me wrong.. I think it's good that we deal intensively with our history. many countries like America or Russia should do the same, but don't. Winners often find it difficult to criticize their own misdeeds.

My grandfather (a German) was send to Russia as a German soldier in ww2 and became a war prisoner in Stalingrad. Of 200k German soldiers who were taken prisoners only 6k survived and came back, he was one of them. My father (born 10years after the war ended) said my grandfather never really talked about what happened there, except, that he might not have survived it if he wouldn’t have been a good mechanic for repairing cars and machines. My grandma was just a young teen during ww2 and lost her elder brothers who were also send as soldiers into the war, her father had a job as a miner, which excluded him from being drafted. I didn’t meet my grandmothers father or my grandfather (he died of cancer a year before I was born) but I think the nazis did not only do damage to other countries, but also a lot of damage to the German folks by sending their children into war as cannon fodder. Not to mention that Germans still get called nazis despite everyone who lived during that time already being dead. Oh sry, I know one neighbor of ours, she was 3yo when ww2 ended and is still alive, but I doubt that counts

@@ZsH85 We can't. Every german political figure of any range has to pledge allegiance to US and ISR and promise to (amongst other things) never change the guilt cult. Who refuses to do this will not happen in the media and thus not be able to get into any higher office. Yes, even the AfD ones, which is why they are no alternative at all.
This is why it is hammered into the children in school, and into adults on any mainstream media outlet (Every single one of which is member of the Atlantic Bridge NGO).

What he’s saying about maintaining low profile outside of Germany couldn’t be more true in Belgium.
In 2009, my class went to the Netherlands for a week as a final collective holiday to celebrate the last ten years of school right before graduating. From the Netherlands, we took a day trip to Brugge, Belgium and I kid you not, after half the day was over, 2/3 of the class was just sitting and waiting for pickup, we were denied service E V E R Y W H E R E as soon as the locals detected were Germans.
I got that light glimpse of how racism feels that day and I will never forget that feeling of powerlessness, I was so hurt and there was nothing we could have done about it. The Belgian service people didn’t tell us straight up they won’t serve us, they just acted like they didn’t notice us, every single one of them except for one. In that diner though, we got placed in an isolated corner apart from the rest of the diner. It was just awful how obviously they WANTED to make us feel that way. They didn’t just do it, they actively chose to let us feel that way.

I was at Ayer’s Rock (Uluru) Australia, I’d travelled there from Alice Springs. before that I was in Adelaide. A big group of Japanese people arrived by plane, they had literally flew in from Japan. They stayed 3 hours, then flew back home. Crazy! It’s because they rarely get time off work.

Friend told me a story of a group of Japanese business men coming to Europe to inspect the railway system. They planned a full week for that.
On day one they visited one railway station, were given a piece of paper with all the measurements and data they were supposed to gather that week. Then they drove to a restaurant and drank the whole rest of the week.
They get so few days off work, that every business trip is a vacation for them.

Usually there is the language barrier as most comedians perform in the German language, Volker Pispers had the honor to be subtitle in English and many English speaking watched his political satire, there is another German comedian "Vince Ebert" he did a gig in English he is a bit different because he has heavy scientific background
