When the drummer quits, Rob develops a twang and drops the rap, they hire a screamo Paramore clone to front the band, the songs get ‘Soft’ and Chester’s son slams it right along with the fans…. It’s no longer ‘Linkin Park’.
Linkin Park was bigger than just Chester and as tragic as Chester’s death was (his death was one that hit me hard) the rest of the band have every right to want to continue on the legacy they helped create. Emily is the change in Linkin Park that nobody ever wanted to need and no she isn’t Chester and nobody will ever replace Chester but she brings in a similar energy, has a great voice and I’m open to a different era of LP. I still listen to original Linkin Park but I’m also excited to see where they go from here. Also I could definitely picture Chester singing this song and that makes me happy.
In many ways, the band themselves incorporated so much more of that true Linkin Park sound than Chester himself actually did. Now I’m not saying his voice isnt iconic, he’s my favorite rock singer of all time and LINKIN PARK is my favorite band. Because of Chester, it is my favorite band. But when you take a step back and you listen to their music compared to old music you can see that the style has not changed one bit.
@curtywindley Linkin Park didn't exist before Chester joined the band. The band Xero was Mike's band. Chester was the one who idea it was to name the band Linkin Park since he drove passed Lincoln Park on the way to their original rehearsal room. They were called Hybrid Theory at the time and the record label wanted them to change their name since the record label had a different band called Hybrid. The record label also only wanted Chester but he refused to make a solo rock band without Mike, Brad, Joe, Dave, and Rob. Chester was loyal to them but they are not loyal to Chester except for Rob. If they were loyal then they would never have made her their singer since she is against everything Chester fought so hard just to live as long as he did.
@@sadiekincaid5310 Rob didn't leave because of Chester's passing, don't start just making shit up bro. Chester has said HIMSELF that it's MIKE'S band. Chester said that. If you believe in Chester, then believe in his words.
So many people not giving Mike and the rest got waiting almost a decade to add a new singer. Love her or hate her, they didn’t have to do that, but they still did. For those who chase to leave the band, cool. For those who chose to continue the band, also cool. It should be the same from the fans but some can’t accept variations in opinion and that’s really sad.
With Mike Shinoda, still writing lyrics and the rest of the band for the most part still helping with production, I see this as an absolute win. Obviously will never get Chester back, but it still feels like LINKIN PARK and I’m really happy about that.
I really don’t get anyone who says they should rename because of Chester’s passing. Yes he was the lead singer but he was not the one who created Linkin Park. That was and always has been Mike Shinoda. He created the band and got all the band members together that he chose including Chester. Chester was not Linkin Parks creator. As long as Mike is in there the band name being Linkin Park still has every right to be and definitely is Mikes choice to make. Plus the songs literally sound and have the LP vibe for sure so I don’t get people lol. LP was one of the first rock bands I ever listened to or whatever genre of music you want to mix them in. They could probably fall into multiple categories like light metal and heavy rock or just general rock or punk rock or whatever. Bottom line is it still sounds like LP for sure with Emily and she has a bangin voice like Chester did and definitely will bring LP to further glory.
Per Mike Shinoda, they didn't plan to continue as Linkin Park. It wasn't until Emily came in that having her on the tracks just 'felt' like Linking Park and now we're here.
Whenever people say stuff that completely ignores Mike it's that whole "tell me you don't know shit about Linkin Park without telling me you don't know shit about Linkin Park"
Things I want to say to all the people who are like "Its not LP without Chester" 1. You might as well tell me none of the other band members matter to you. Don't forget Chester was a final addition to the band. 2. The amount of bands who have gotten a new singer after their beloved original singer passed away is too great for me to list here. But like if Queen can get someone new after Freddie Mercury than anyone is allowed to do it. 3. Its not disrespect to Chester in fact I'd like to think he'd happy to see his friends doing what they love. If you watch the live stream concert Mike has the biggest smile on his face. I know when I die I want my loved ones to be happy and not live with the sting of losing me hang over them forever. Also Chester himself covered as front man for Stone Temple Pilots at one point. He would have no problem with this.
But think about it like this Chester Bennington was the Millenials version of Kurt Cobain & Nirvana never got back together after Kurt's Death, a band continuing after the main singer passes that is actually a good fit is now the main singer of Sublime as he is actually a family member of the guy who passed.
Hey we miss Chester and loved him...she's not replacing Chester...she's bringing some of the emotion and power back to LP we've missed since the passing of Chester...She has a power in her voice to bring tears to the new born of LP..
why would you name it different when it's Mike's band, Linkin Park is his band! wtf are you talking about? I fucking LOVE Chester but he is gone dude and no one can bring him back let him rest. let them keep going and if you are a real LP fan you are gonna support them in that.
I felt the same way initially. Almost protective of the songs Chester sang … like “she better not sing them”😅 … BUT I watched the Apple Music interview they did the day after the livestream and cried like a baby. I respect their decision to move forward and have fun. Most of all heal ❤
I'm here because I'm also a fan since I was a kid. I'm 37 now and cried listening to the new songs and new shows. LP always followed me in my youth and I'm trilled by this new phase.
I agree! LP is my 2nd favorite band of all-time and I love this. Emily doesn't need to be Chester. She just needs to be Emily. Definitely check out Heavy is the Crown also. Also, Chester's death hit me super hard as well.
This change in singers has been compared to what AC/DC did after Bon Scott died. This can work if done carefully. Favorite LP song is Numb, but Crawling is next.
Just legit wondering, why did it take you 4 weeks to watch and listen to this. For LP-fans this has been their life for the past 4 weeks. I know, I'm one of them. Should check out their latest live show. People been posting videos of it, they sing a lot of the old songs. Emily nails it every single time. Always gonna miss Chester but I'm excited to see LP has a future.
This was my first time hearing it as well and it was way more epic than I expected it to be. I'll pick this up on iTunes for sure. Also, the whole Meteora album is in my top-5 albums of all time. It's one of those albums for the longest time just never left my car. I always had it in there from the time I started driving in 2009 until just recently, I had a handful of albums in my car that I would cycle through continuously and Meteora was one of them. As for my favorite song...that's difficult...I'd have to say Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You or Breaking the Habit. The whole album is absolute perfection, but if I had to pick a song, it'd be one of those 3, surely.
My all-time favorite Linkin Park song is "Lost". When I heard that song when they first released it as an unreleased track from Meteora, I was literally getting ready for work and as soon as I heard Chester's voice, I broke down in tears. As for Linkin Park 2.0 (yes, that's what I call them). It took me just a day to get over the shock and I had to allow myself to be open to the idea of Emily not replacing Chester (no one can) but she allows his band mates to continue doing the thing that they love to do........which is to create music. She has a phenomenal voice and I look forward to whenever Linkin Park 2.0 comes to Florida, so I can take my daughters to see them. I was fortunate enough to see the O.G LP 11 times with Chester, my girls never had a chance to. Now, they get to experience some of what I experienced but for the next generation of LP 2.0 fans.
My all time favorite Linkin Park song is Waiting For The End. That said, I've enjoyed every Linkin Park song I've ever heard. I'm happy with this new chapter. RIP Chester
I think it's a great fit, and it's great to see Linkin Park making new music. She's not trying to replace Chester, she is the new path forward for Linkin Park to keep bringing us great music. And my favorite Linkin Park is "New Divide" from Transformers. Love that song.
Its so hard to have a #1 L.P. song, I love all their music but if I had to choose it would be From the Inside.. Chester’s emotion in the chorus is insane!
I think the main thing is, yes Chester was phenomenal and irreplaceable but that doesn’t mean Linkin Park should just end. The fact they took time to mourn and welcomed Emily with open arms and to be there for fans is amazing and that it’s just a new era for them. Emily killed this and love she has joined the Linkin Park family, especially because she herself has been a fan of Linkin Park.
It took a bit before I could get over the lack of Chester in my Linkin Park. But once I did and enjoyed the songs for what they were, they were amazing.
Breaking the habit would be my favorite song. And I think that continuing the band as Linkin Park actually pays respect to Chester. Legends die when people forget about them, and this way we will always remember Chester. By the way, their most recent song is fire. Hits like the OG LP
Greetings from Hungary, if you've looked at the live tour, the old era tracks was perfect for Ches, except some track i had feelings, okay good but - something missing from this performance. But i made a mistake, i try to found Ches on the stage, but he was gone, sadly. I need to change my mind and watch this in a different wiev. Emily was amazing, she do not try to meme Chester (he was a legend nobody can replace him), just respect the fans and enjoy this new part of LP. And when she sang the track which is builded up with her, thats was amazing and hit me the LP feeling. So i think this new era will be really fun. Cheers!
I’m proud of Emily for going out of her way to INSIST she didn’t want to sound like Chester so the band reworked their hit songs for her to respect his legacy
I'm a Huge Real fan of Linkin Park and I Listen to Their Songs Almost Everyday Since 2000 When I Was 12 Years Old and They Did this New Band to fit with 2024 and that is Awesome⚡ 🥰 🤘🏻🤟🏻🤍♥️💝⚡
Chester was the last to join when the band was called zero they changed the name because another band had that name already. It's Mike's project he did most of the writing and he's keeping it going. Emily is a fantastic edition.
Heavy is the Crown hits pretty hard, despite being short. Pts of Authority had an alternate version I like... (the "Stop the Talk Show", the Demo Lyrics). the single Heavy w/ Kiiara and Linkin Park was the first time I knew a female voice was somehow going to be in the future cards for the band. We so nearly lost them, but this iteration is so far amazing.
Never listened to Linkin Park, so this is new to me. I admit that, as I age, I don't listen to as much hard rock as I used to. This had a nice driving beat, and I like her voice. Interesting to hear your (Sebs') reaction, missing the original vocalist. Maybe I'll check out old stuff to hear him.
The only band member who is not present is Rob Bourdon (drums) and currently Brad Delson is not touring with them (he’s still in the band) I LOVE THIS SONG!! I love Emily and this LP 2.0 and it’s a homage to Chester and the legacy. Go check out the new song Heavy Is The Crown 👑 She has gotten better and better singing the old songs too, go look at videos from their current tour online. I have been brought to tears many times, she’s doing Chester proud man, it’s amazing 🌹 RIP TO THE GOAT, Chester ❤️
Not many musician deaths have hit me as hard as Chester's (I was lucky enough to meet him and Mike on a tour they did months before Hybrid Theory came out, and they were both down to earth cool ass guys) but I think Emily was the perfect choice and imo if the band is happy about it we need to be also. Stop nitpicking stupid reasons to complain and just appreciate great music by artists that are finally finding a way to be happy again after a giant part of them literally died
Yeah man...... Definitely Reanimation: One Step Closer & Points Of Authority. That was my jam. Great remix production. Also, I love Emily's tone so far. Props to Mike continuing what he loves to do.
I love Emily as their new singer. She's got the chops to sing live too. The next single, Heavy is the Crown is also the anthem for League of Legends Worlds 2024. Riot always delivers some stunning cinematics, so look forward to that.
Yes, check Heavy is the Crown out. Anyway, historically speaking Numb was my favorite song for personal reasons, but now I just have favorite albums as a whole: Meteora, Living Things and The Hunting Party.
Mike is a bad bad man. Ft. Minor is incredible. This new interation is good. You say you binged Linkin after Chester. I haven't been able to listen to them
Chester was the 2nd lead singer for LK which is Mike's bad changing the name would be a band move. Two words Brian Johnson sounded like Bon a little but launched AC/DC to a different level.
You should watch all the interviews and videos behind the scenes to realize why and how it all came about. That helps me a lot to get a more positive feeling.
"Crawling" from "Reanimation" version is just a masterpiece. That album as a whole is criminaly underrated. My prefered is "Plc.4 Mie Hæd". Pure raw force!
Krwlng is a great pick tbh, it really pulls the pain front and center with those cinematic strings, and Aaron Lewis' more subdued rendition of the chorus just drips with emptiness and melancholy. As for the new era, I appreciate that you recognize both what makes it Linkin Park and what makes it a little different, but I insist that you give Heavy is the Crown a listen. THAT is unquestionably Linkin Park. 🤘
She doesn't sound like Chester but she does sound like Linkin Park. I love it.
I personally never wanted the new singer to sound like Chester, would have turned me off tbh. Very happy with Emily 🤘🏻
She did do kinda Chester runs, which I'm very good with
OK I like this comment 😂 she's giving us her best. I don't care about her belief system anymore.

It's the most Linkin Park they have been since minutes to midnight 🩷🩷🩷

I can’t choose a favourite Linkin Park song, too hard.
we all love Chester RIP. but new Linkin Park, love it, it's great
Papercut is my favorite, changed my world.
living legend...🤘
You have to hear heavy is the crown now!!!
Music evolves. Other people need to accept it
I enjoy that version of crawling too,, too damn good
If you loved this....... You're gonna love Heavy is the Crown!!!!!
They kept the name so they could play the old catalog of songs. This is LP, just starting a new chapter
I love Emily as their new singer. She's got the chops to sing live too. The next single, Heavy is the Crown is also the anthem for League of Legends Worlds 2024. Riot always delivers some stunning cinematics, so look forward to that.
Yes Heavy Is The Crown!
We love Chester ❤️
We love Emily ❤
We love Linkin Park ❤❤
A place for my head is pretty good
WE are Chester now. We are Chester's pain. Emily is our rage.
Yes, check Heavy is the Crown out.
Anyway, historically speaking Numb was my favorite song for personal reasons, but now I just have favorite albums as a whole: Meteora, Living Things and The Hunting Party.
Final Masquerade from The Hunting Party is my favorite LP song... but i love the new 2.0 version of LP!
Current favourite song from them is The Little Things Give You Away
Mike is a bad bad man. Ft. Minor is incredible. This new interation is good. You say you binged Linkin after Chester. I haven't been able to listen to them
How can you be a Linkin Park FAN! When you're basically a month late to the party? Lol.
Chester was the 2nd lead singer for LK which is Mike's bad changing the name would be a band move. Two words Brian Johnson sounded like Bon a little but launched AC/DC to a different level.
Linkin park is basically a part of me.
Chester Bennington Forever
Nah, he was good singer, but he left a trail of destruction behind. The rest of the world lives on, for now.
@@OverReaction154 trail of destruction 😂😂😂 I didn't know he also moonlighted as a serial killer
@@ChrisCornell420 He left a trail of destruction behind to his loved ones, his band mates, the world of music.
Mike Shinoda is Linkin Park.......
Looooove it ❤️🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
You should watch all the interviews and videos behind the scenes to realize why and how it all came about. That helps me a lot to get a more positive feeling.
Not sure if you will see the comment. There are some gems off that reanimation album. In the end, one step closer, crawling, and forgotten all hit.
my favorite is crawling bro, it's first time i'm hearing LP
love this song and emily, my fav Linkin park song is points of authority
My favorite LP song is Heavy is the Crown, ha go ahead and react!
