Just to put this into context. I pulled up a Chevy dealership online and looked up a Chevy Trail Boss 4Wheel drive, Double Cab 5.3L V-8 with Leather Interior, 10 Way Power Adjusted seats, Heated and cooled seats, Sprayed in bed liner, upgraded off-road tires and wheels, skid plates, blacked out. Now, this truck is in the showroom so it's not your average Chevy. What can I go buy that truck for right now? $46,439! That is right now. Cut a check for that price and it's mine from Bachman Chevy.
Now, lets say you go and buy a Jeep Gladiator. A mid-size truck. Has a V-6 motor. It's 4 Wheel drive. Obviously smaller than the Trail Boss. It will not tow as much as the Chevy. It won't carry as many people. It won't carry near as much in the bed. The ride of the Chevy is 100 times smoother. The Chevy has more extras. It gets 20 MPG on the highway where the Jeep Gladiator gets 22 on the highway. Jeep is good about being way off on their ratings. You would be lucky to get 20 MPG on the highway. That is the same as the Chevy Trail Boss.
Compare the price. For the Chevy Trail Boss I can buy it right now for $46,439 If I buy the Gladiator loaded I am looking at an MSRP of $62,000! They are new so they will be $3,000 or more over the MSRP on the sticker. That's $65,000! Most people will get a lift kit, bigger tires and bigger wheels for the Gladiator right away due to the high chance of high centering because it is so long. Now your at $70,000!! You would SAVE $23,561 buying the Chevy Trail Boss over the Jeep Gladiator!!! You can go to the Bachman Chevy site and see the Black Chevy Trail Boss to see my numbers are right if you want. It's on the showroom floor because of all the extras so it stays nice and clean for customers. And yet it is STILL $23,561 CHEAPER than a Gladiator!!! You can do this with Ford or Toyota or Nissan or whatever you want! The point is that the Gladiator is INSANELY OVERPRICED!!!

Right now I am still rockin' a '97 Tacoma 3.4L 4x4, extra cab -- no rear locker but full under armor. It's little so I can get back deep on retired logging roads here in Florida and Georgia, to those remote lakes and ponds that ain't nobody been fishing for years. 'been using synthetic 5/30 in a 3k rotation forever. Pretty much everything has been replaced due to age. 284k. I was thinking I should use your sponsor to deliver it to Colorado and put it on the market. Somebody up there will respect it.

They Should have lowered air pressure a lot more and taken off the running boards on the Trail Boss.....running boards were a aftermarket accessory add on. All trucks will perform better and look way better without them!!
Chevy Trail Boss Are very sharp looking trucks when seen up close live! Go see them up close and it will change your mind.

The Trail Boss is the nicest of all the '19 Silverados. I've been seeing a few around town lately and I really like the stance. I do wish the tires were at least 33" though, they look just a little too small.
Agree with some other comments - the Trail Boss needs a front locker like it's little brother. If it had that, boy would it be sweet on the trails.

I'm actually very impressed. I'm a GM truck guy, and even I thought that this didn't have a prayer of making it up dare. It was a little painful to watch, but it made it! I really wish GM would put that G80 diff out to pasture though. Sure, it works and I'd much rather have it than an open diff, but I don't like that you can't crawl with it. You have to initiate rear wheelspin in order for it engage, then once you back off the throttle it disengages and then you have to start the whole process over again. A selectable locker would be so much better, and allow for smoother driving.
I think the new Ram with the Offroad package is the way to go here.

I don't think that's very fair, the dirt was very fine and the rocks were very loose, I think when the dodge powerram failed it was in very similar conditions. some of the earlier runs had a lot less loose rocks and made it look easy. in the end, the chevy made it up in tough conditions, the tires helped but the truck did it's part too

You didn't mention and the video didn't show you putting the transmission into off road mode for this test. Did you change modes? The knob on the upper left hand side should set the trans to Normal, Tow Haul, and Off Road modes. The video only showed you put it into 4Lo. If you did not, that may have been part of the power being decreased when the wheels slipped. If this test was done with the trans in Normal mode, it would be interesting to redo the test and note the differences.
