You know why Johnny Manziel was an overrated QB? Pause the video at 0:08. Look at his receiver WIDE OPEN right in front of him on the goal line. Doesn't even see him. Why? As soon as the ball is snapped, he looks at Mike Evans to see if he's open at the bottom of the screen. Evans is not open (his first option), so instead of going through progressions, he decides to scramble and look for room to run. Johnny was a glorified RB, posing as a QB. His elite O-line made his life extremely easy, and Mike Evans made him look more dominant than he really was.
You are correct. He spends 2 seconds looking to throw than just bolts it like he was an RB. He was sort of a ball hog. Wanted the glory all to himself instead of perfecting his throw from the pocket. This play did not translate well in the NFL.
i was a huge fan of Johnny, and am saddened to have watched him throw away a promising pro career. On the upside, I get to watch Joe Burrow fulfill the promise of an incredible college career with poise, pinache, and humility.
Manziel will flop in the NFL. The preconceived notion that his NCAA skills will transfer over may prove to disappoint Cleveland fans who are expecting a messiah. Yeah, he's good on his feet, but he doesn't have the arm of a Stafford or Roethlisberger to make those long balls. Another factor is Brian Hoyer, who as of now, is consistent and has experience winning games with that offense. Manziel has to master that playbook if he even stands a chance at earning the starting position, which if you've read lately, he hasn't. His size may be an advantage paired with his speed, but if the O-line crumbles, consider him pancaked in the pocket. That being said, Manziel (a ROOKIE quarterback) is entering an AFC North that is recognized for hammering teams on defense. All three teams (CIN, BAL, PIT) host an array of defensive MVPs that are known for making a complete fool of inexperienced QBs. In other words, "maybe next year, kid"
At least the last throw was from a clean pocket. Almost all his highlights are of him scrambling, no wonder why hes failing the nfl. Also, this goes for where ever you are in the world. You need to earn respect before its given.
For QB the the change from college to pro is huge change. we can see lots of awesome college qb unable to adjust to pro level. so many things can go wrong for young qb. funny that ravens with lamar are playing the game everyone expencted of manziel and browns.
Johnny football the man what he needs to do is get out of Cleveland and go to my cowboys he would fit perfect there he is not just a scrambler he can also throw it from the pocket he lead all of college in completion percentage from the pocket when he won his Heisman award he ain't no chump the kid can play he is just in a garbage team....
+carsdude1000 So you think that a kid that goes to parties and has a ton of money is an alcoholic? I would ask if you ever went to parties in college to prove a point, but I don't think you even went to college...
Johnny Manziel is the white mecca of Michael Vick!!! I 🖤 #2!!! Johnny Manziel is the best dual threat quarterback in college!!! Johnny Manziel= Michael Vick!!! I love Johnny Manziel!!! I love Johnny football!!! Johnny Manziel was the best in college!!! I miss Johnny Manziel in the NFL, so sad to see him go. Johnny Manziel is still my guy because I have nothing but love for Johnny Manziel!!! Johnny Manziel reminds me of Michael Vick because Michael Vick was also the best dual threat quarterback in the NFL!!! Johnny Manziel on the other hand was the best dual threat quarterback in college!!! I love Johnny Manziel he's my guy!!! I 🖤 #2 Johnny Manziel!!! Go Johnny Manziel Go!!!
hahaha wow, he wont be able to do ANY of this in the NFL. He will never be able to scramble and rush like that in the NFL. Kids very overrated, remember Vince Young?
Yes when you win the heisman as a freshmen and break Cam Newton's total yardage record in two less games and create 10,000 yards of total offense and 93 TD's in two years you're over rated. By that logic, there has never been a good college football QB
A LOT of rookies qbs don't start. And you say it like its so easy. Out of every highschool and collage qbs ONLY 32 start. Its so rare. So don't say it like its an easy thing. Smh
+Matt Pena I agree, , Pettine was the worst coach ever, could not develop a young QB,..Browns are SO dysfunctional. If Johnny lands with a good coachs like Gruden, Johnny's natural talent will flourish . He's so exciting to watch.
nahh lets not compare fkn Manziel to RG3... Sooo many QBs these days can run you no longer just compare everyone to vick or everyone to keap or rg3 or Wilson or luck or cam or pryor or steve young or tarkenton or... you see where im going with this. all qbs have a different presence and skillset. whats his? you understand.
Johnny is so talented , so exciting to watch, he just needs to be with the right organization, the right coach. I wish Gruden would have been the coach for the Browns. Everything would have been different. Pettine was a joke of a coach that you will never hear from again, Maybe high school. The Brown's are so dysfunctional. Sad.
yea he is talented. but he is the dumbest idiot ive ever seen it has nothing to do with the coach or the team... he was just to dumb to understand that this was his chance to be a nfl star but no he wasnt learning the playbook he did nothing fir the dream he was just partying if ray lewis was in his team... oh god he wouldve killed him...
Bro he was never NFL caliber to begin with. Separate the hype from the talent and watch how he played in college. It was very apparent that his game could never transition to the nfl. It would have been too great a leap.
He absolutely IS NFL caliber. He's still too much of a party animal. If you watch old films of Fran Tarkenton, you'll swear you're watching Manziel. Tarkenton played for years in the NFL. Johnny Manziel is the same talent, same style, and same caliber as Tarkenton.
Larkin Huey I hear what you're saying but when Tarkenton played (1961-1978) linemen weren't 6-3 298lbs and running 4.2's. Its a different game today! And Manziel's smaller than Tarkenton too
Johnny Manziel started the era of running quarterbacks. I mean, yes, quarterbacks could always run, but they rarely did unless they absolutely had too. After Johnny Manziel you had quarterbacks who become the top rushers on their teams. Quarterbacks today are basically another running back, and Johnny started that. And before any one mentions Tebow, yes Tebow ran, but still not as much as Manziel and certainly not as much as most quarterbacks do today.
He shouldn't have had left early, he still had a lot to learn.
he could have stayed there 10 years and still never learn anything
Casper Larsen
True
Locustmaster15 as talented as Manziel was, partying was a bigger passion than football. Another year or 2 would not have changed anything.
jjman9 haha he might be having a comeback
Why do you make a fucking countdown that progressively gets shittier
+Jesse Levine they did it to represent his career
+Ben Swaggernathy Yeah. His old career. Warrant out for his arrest now
This was such a fun time to watch college football. You just knew he would have some highlights every game
was this video made before that bowl game against Duke? cause the play he had in that game should've been number 1 or 2
ETW4life yes, Texas a&m played Duke December 31 2013
Johnny was a beast. I'm an Alabama fan and he always showed out against my team
bro... 1:25 agressive ass slap
Haha 😂
You know why Johnny Manziel was an overrated QB?

What about the duke play?
johnny has to start over mccown because hes better

So should he be bad in collage? It seems you have him failing before he plays in the NFL.
Only time will tell, give him a chance.
hahahahaha fuck Cleveland. Go get your GED.
***** #JohnnyBench lol umad?
Has nothing to do will skills and everything to do with attitude. Doug Flutie had similar skills to Manziel and was a very good player
absolutely phenomenal athlete.
Great dual threat of our generation. Did nothing BUT drop dimes. So slept on!
At least the last throw was from a clean pocket.
Almost all his highlights are of him scrambling, no wonder why hes failing the nfl.
Also, this goes for where ever you are in the world.
You need to earn respect before its given.
Big Ben scrambled a bit I think he won a Super Bowl doing it 😂😂
We should get all those post draft Manziel jerseys tied up together to make a gigantic tarp. Then turn the Browns stadium into a dome field
I get goosies watching Johnny Manziel highlights. What a time to watch college football.
this man was actually super good i wish he wasn’t a bust
Same with Reggie Bush. At least we have something to remember them for
Such wasted talent
For QB the the change from college to pro is huge change. we can see lots of awesome college qb unable to adjust to pro level. so many things can go wrong for young qb. funny that ravens with lamar are playing the game everyone expencted of manziel and browns.
This dude had so much talent and just flushed it down the shitter
Johnny football the man what he needs to do is get out of Cleveland and go to my cowboys he would fit perfect there he is not just a scrambler he can also throw it from the pocket he lead all of college in completion percentage from the pocket when he won his Heisman award he ain't no chump the kid can play he is just in a garbage team....
No he's just garbage and an alcoholic
+carsdude1000 So you think that a kid that goes to parties and has a ton of money is an alcoholic? I would ask if you ever went to parties in college to prove a point, but I don't think you even went to college...
+Melvin Reyes Too bad cuz he is staying here in Cleveland where he belongs and wants to be!
actually he's released from the browns and his dream team is the cowboys
+BananaSwag no but when you check into rehab for alcoholism, you are probably an alcoholic....dont you think?
His speed was insane
Hes the best qb ive ever seen
Little did we know he was running that fast so he could run to the bar after scoring.
He makes it look so easy what a runner too!!
Thank you for being the epitome of what RUclips should be
Wish he could do that in the NFL
the number 1 is how he juked the Browns out of their pick and money.
I’ve never seen a better scrambler and his acceleration running was unmatched. He could have been a starting back on any team.
All those great plays and the last one is just a regular td pass. 😆
Sweetest feet in all of football
Best play in his career should be the Alabama play
the top 2 were both Alabama plays.
Your probably awful because if you were a quarter back in that situation you would through it to the side lines
He punched the coach 1:25.
Its called a power slap lol
I wish Manziel would've made better choices. He could of had a bright future in the NFL
Now he's on the sidelines haha..
look at Arron Rodgers he was a backup too.
True
Never got a chance yet
He never got a chance.
HATER ALERT!!!!
hahaha wow, he wont be able to do ANY of this in the NFL. He will never be able to scramble and rush like that in the NFL. Kids very overrated, remember Vince Young?

the dude is still good . the only reason for his bad behavior was because he was with the browns
+Matt Pena I agree, , Pettine was the worst coach ever, could not develop a young QB,..Browns are SO dysfunctional. If Johnny lands with a good coachs like Gruden, Johnny's natural talent will flourish . He's so exciting to watch.
The pass plays were pretty ordinary
He is a good qb but he's risky. He chucks the foot ball into triple coverage and hopes his own player will catch it
Man I don't care what anyone says. This man was better than Tebow.
nahh lets not compare fkn Manziel to RG3... Sooo many QBs these days can run you no longer just compare everyone to vick or everyone to keap or rg3 or Wilson or luck or cam or pryor or steve young or tarkenton or... you see where im going with this. all qbs have a different presence and skillset. whats his? you understand.
yeah id put him next to wilson before RG3. RG3 didnt get his chance to prove his skills in the NFL yet.. he will though. #redskinsnation
Httr
Cocaine is a hella of a drug
What NFL team does he play for now?
where is his failed hurdle but it worked
Better running back then quarterback
What a waste
Manziel for Heisman Trophy
he better be that good for the NFL!
2 was better then 1
Number 2 was the best by far.
Bum
Ass holl
He stole batteries from my local Walmart while in HS. I don’t think he learned after he hit the NFL.
M10 where did you go to school
Tivy?
You should watch more football
That Last 1 was a duck....
That Last 1 was a touchdown, Mensa.

want to be like u
He was dope
Mark Stratford
What a legend
2 was 1
Flawless
beast
I hate how new QB'S because I think they run the ball if u want to run it be a running back
+Trae Pedraza What are you even talking about? It's called being a dual threat.
Lol your sentence makes no sense
+Trae Pedraza dude running QB's are amazing mainly because if they are under pressure they can just run out of there
Boring
Hi
He'll be fine
I hope so!
He was not fine
He only made those big plays because of luck
He's must of been awfully lucky then... because he made a lot of them.
HATER ALERT!!!!
Roll tears.
and his luck has run out in the NFL. Merrill Hoge is a prophet.
lol so he consistently got lucky every single game? didn't realize bama fans are still butthurt over johnny
meh
I thought QB'S throw the ball......??
were you watching some other video???
+ryeryeskyy QB'S do but if they can run then it is amazing because under pressure they can escape from the situation
He looks pretty good. I see him going places.

Johnny Manziels head is too big for his body
He had a great career in the NFL.
Coach smacks the guys but 1:27
Have you ever played football? Coaches and players do it all the time
