I like the look of this a little more than the other kit from AEV as I don't like cutting the front of the intake. Plus I have seen this kit installed with the stock airbag and when done it looked completely factory. How long do you guys need the jeep the to the swap, testing, etc.?

    • @MountZionOffroad
      @MountZionOffroad  Год назад +1

      Thanks Jeff! We're just wrapping one up on a 2011 and parts availability has been the only struggle. We'd generally say we need it here for about 3-4 weeks for the swap, but given the current global situation, it unfortunately could take longer. The best thing we can do to combat that is get it scheduled as early as you're able to so we can start ordering things and scheduling it!

    Would it be possible to do something like this along with swapping an automatic transmission out for a manual transmission? Also what is the possibility of changing console shifter to column shifter on a jk

    • @MountZionOffroad
      @MountZionOffroad  Год назад

      If you swapped to an 8HP70 or 8HP75 it should be possible to use a dial shifter like the Ram trucks use, but that is not something we have had to do before. Since the JK never came with a column shift, that's not a simple parts swap option. Swapping to manual can certainly be done without much difficulty, just a lot of hours of labor!

      I've driven multiple JCDR products with 8 speed autos, most of them being practically brand new and in my personal opinion the zf8hp in general is just a garbage transmission. I'm not talking about power, or reliability but general comfort and ride quality. You can get a 6.2 LT1 (460hp/465tq) with either a 8L90 or 10L90 automatic transmission from Motech for $32k turnkey……I thought about a 6.4 Hemi swap but after doing a bit of research I decided on the LT1/10L90 for these reasons: weight and size of engine favors the LT1, horsepower is nearly equal, cooling issues with the 6.4 Hemi is a known problem, and longevity.

    • @GreatEgret
      @GreatEgret 2 года назад +1

      @@FIRE-WOOD Your reasons are sound for the LT1 vs the Hemi. If I were to have a shop do a turnkey build for me, I'd go LT1. DYI Hemi seams easier with all Mopar rather than trying to get Chrysler and GM parts to communicate.

      An engine swap into any vehicle is about $10k to do it yourself and $30k for a shop to do it. The honest truth is that for most people, that is a considerable amount of money to put into a 7 year old vehicle--meaning it makes them consider a 3.7 Etorque or 392 Rubicon, brand new with a warranty and other nice features and upgrades.
