    When we buy donor vehicles for engines we usually post them up on FB market place for a week or 2 and let people come pick parts off them for a little more extra cash… last time we bought a donor vehicle and sold off everything we didn’t need the engine was free

      Dead on accurate! It’s awesome isn’t it?! Where others are paying thousands for their engine, you can part out a vehicle and have your engine for free.

    I got lucky with my LS. People would leave their cars on my grandmas property and someone left a c5 corvette there. We called the owner to take it but they refused to take it off the property, my grandma legally ended up taking possession of it and sold it to me for $1

    Another great video. Good luck with the build, I hope things go smoothly.
    Remember as well when you choose a motor to go with a same gen motor as the model year of your rig or as close to it to avoid emissions issues. The Heep’s new motor swapped in has to be from the same gen or newer than the vehicle model year it’s going in. i.e. a 03 TJ will have to have a 03 or newer LS (or if 02 motor is same gen that’s fine too I believe) and it’s important to properly set up your emissions so you can keep it registered within the US Govt. Corporation, you don’t need road pirates pulling you over. For some, emissions is a big consideration when swapping and could be an issue for all counties given how terranical things are becoming.

      This is a VERY good point and a major reason why Jeeps past 2014 usually go with HEMI, due to matching emissions needs. This is something that might be a great topic for a tech talk on its own.

      Hey that’s ok! I used to have the 2.5 in my YJ too and it was HORRIBLY slow. But I still loved that old Jeep. As long as she stayed in 4low, she kept moving on the trail. Haha.

      @@mudtiremedia I agree, it’s good on trails. I do drive it on pretty days around town. Occasionally to work. That’s when & where I need a few more horses. I ain’t gobs lie though, I’d love a little more torque on the trail.

      @@mudtiremedia have you decided on your headers in motor mount yet?

    • @mudtiremedia
      @mudtiremedia  9 месяцев назад

      I’m using Dave’s customs motor mounts and trans mount. I was originally going to drop the engine in and fabricate my own mounts, but they are fairly cheap and saves a lot of time. As far as a header, I haven’t made that choice yet. But I have a stack of parts piling up in the back of the garage right now. Trying to have every piece ready to go so I can drop it in quickly when the time comes.

    Ive got an 83 full size jeep cherokee 4 door. Basically the same size as an old wagoneer. Im torn between the 5.3 and 6.0 since its such a heavy vehicle. Granted anything will be better than the 110 hp 258 inline 6 it came with but i still wonder if i should opt for the 6.0
