Thanks! Now that you mentioned it, yeah, I completely overlooked the 1v1 combat. I was recording the split-screen footage with my gf, and she didn't really like the combat (motor mash) mode.
I did play it when i was younger i loved the concept of the game visuals were impressive for that time. It felt Repetitive and indeed hard to win at times but it wasn’t quite as rememberable as other racing games.
I've played it, and it was mediocre at best. Glorified Mario Cart with pretty shitty physics and terrible cornering where even best cars handle like a brick. So it's overrated "underrated masterpiece" everyone decided to talk about in the last couple years or so.

Played the demo a ton as a kid. Very fun
This game forced me to upgrade my GPU when. It was released.

It just needed an OFFLINE CUSTOM RACE mode and it would have been PERFECT.

I have the menu music etched on my brain. Used to play it with bunch of friends - truly sad how underrated of a game it is/was.
Me and my friends still play this game and this game is the only reason why we have still kept our PS3.
