I think the last AAA game i purchased was Battlefront 2 back in 2017. Now I play games from the 90's / 00's

For me, too many woke women and men are destroying the fun of video games by inserting their politics and being overall negative towards their customers.

It's true , I play mostly older games I haven't played yet. There are a lot of reasons why I'm not interested in "modern" games. One big reason for me is that they often lack fun, they feel bloated with stuff that's not fun just for the sake of having content. Game lengths often are inflated to stretch the time to an extent where it's not reasonable anymore. A lot of games have a story that could be told in 15 hours and get stretched to 30-40 hours. I highly prefer games that have a good short story as a mediocre long one. If the story can deliver over 40 hours fine that's great but most don't. Some ppl already pointed that out and I agree, games are more and more like movies, they lack good gameplay and that's not what I personally want. Visuals are a greater point but first overall it's gameplay that matters. If a games gameplay is fun I can deal with lesser visuals or graphical fidelity. On top they want 69.99 for that... the high cost of these mediocre games that aren't fun... I can understand that they want more money, they could save a lot by reducing the visuals and man power to create it, if theyr game is just fun! Nintendo does it well, theyr games look visually pleasing because of good art style but the core Gameplay very often deliveres a fun time without high graphic fidelity. Micro transactions are terrible often, sometimes it feels like they make a game, break it in parts, sell the first part as a game , the second as dlc and the third part in many little pieces... So instead of 69.99 I have to pay 120+ to have the full experience...hell no. They don't respect the players time , they want you to play they're game all the time and give u stupid unreasonable quests for some I game points or whatever just that u have something to do.... Why would I waste my time like that? Another point is that they often spy on your data on your PC.. and can sell that data output on third party's.. thats unacceptable for a games. Insane that such stuff is allowed. The political agenda stuff that ruin games... I can't stand it anymore if I see a "Jamal" type of character that doesn't fit at all in the game. Or everywhere the rainbow stuff... I play games to not have to deal with all that get it out of my sight, Give me a break. There are more reasons for sure but this are the biggest for me. Stay strong ppl, don't preorder, don't trust these corporations and have fun playing the stuff you love.

Activism. (Not _"Activision,"_ though they suck too.) Politics. I don't need Sweet Baby Inc _scolding_ me with "The Message" in my escapism. Older games were simply designed to entertain us.

Thats why i play on the DS Lite nowadays, i can chill on the bed while playing and watching TV. And with a R4 card everything is possible eheheheheh

They invest more in binding gamers in microtransactions. 5) Investing hugely in realism in games rather than storyline and creativity. 6) Games become expensive. 7) Gamers don't buy new games. 8) Gamers start emulation. 9) Game publishers incur loss. 10) Thus Sony Corporation will go bankrupt within next 30 years.

I mean, offline games don't have an expiration date and the backlog is growing

Games back then used to be made for gamers, now its made for maximising shareholder value and making investors happy.

I have found myself doing this time and time again. Occasionally ill find something good like robocop rogue city, terminator resistance, trepang, serious sam siberian mayhem but overall i always return to all the classics from the 2010's and before that.

I literally just finished Too Human for Xbox 360, a 6/10 for its time but an 8/10 game compared to today’s release climate.

From the PS3 to ps4 era, the hardware became sufficient to create a decent technical experience. A pleasing art style is now more important than technically advanced graphics. That, combined with the cost of new hardware and software and the exploitative business pracrises, means older games are just more appealing. I just bought 4 older games in the steam sale (launched from 2015 to 2020) for a total of £10. I will get a lot more enjoyment at a far lower price than a single modern game at £60. These games will also have received multiple updates to improve the content and performance. Its a no brainer.

Modern games are made to be woke and not deep. I want a remake of the 2 vampire the Masquerade games...then a DECENT new one made the same as the second.

** It's NOT nostalgia ** For me, the newer era games are boring.. there's no legendary memories being made. It's just buy the game, play it, then it's out of your memory forever. There's no good epic music, no fun memories with friends or family made.. face the fact that modern gaming is all just online loner life.

Well the simple reason I've been playing old video games and unsubscribed from all my online games this year comes down to this; Online gaming is no longer a social atmosphere like it felt 20 years ago, everyone expects you to be the best of the best, at this point, I am in my late 30s, and focused on things like career, adult relationships and whatnot, and the old games are just much more chill, they come complete and you can just play them to unwind after a big day out, The last thing I need is to deal with the toxic carrying on of other people trying to be the best of the best when in reality anyone can just pay-to-win anyway, And as people have said...loot boxes/micro transactions have gotten out of control, when back in the day you would get a finished product.

For me, I play a lot of much older games. Reasons are, not wanting to pay extra for everything with microtransactions, I hate cut scenes / stories in games, games that are laborious to get into, crashes, and with old games, you have already assessed them, so you know what is good and don't play the bad. I bet the same is happening with music, there are enough good pieces of work out there, do we really need new stuff all the time? Plus old stuff is cheap.

After you get out the snow it picks up🤣there’s a lot of mechanics so they use all of chapter 1 as a tutorial so it feels dragged out. Either way nobody loses anything just cause YOU didn’t play rdr so it’s w.e

It's not just the price of modern consoles and games, though that is part of it, but some people don't want to buy a partial game and have to buy multiple DLCs to eventually have a complete game. Plus some people don't like the liberal BS that is in more and more games. Games are supposed to be fun, reduce stress, and be a way to socialize with people with similar interests. I personally skipped the current generation of Xbox series and PS5 and instead got myself a very nice arcade system with light guns, and thousands of actual games that work (not the Pandora stuff with multiple broken games), and it cost me about $4,000. Well worth it considering the amount of good entertainment and it saves me space too. Maybe I'll do a review on it in the future. It is an ExtremeHomeArcades gamebox. It's awesome if you can afford it.

modding community can turn what had been a 60 dollar game back in 2008 into what could arguably be a 300 dollar game with the sheer amount of extra modded content.

I mean, I've barely stopped playing GTAV since I got it. But then I do fall into the habit of replaying the same 4 or 5 games every year while neglecting tens of others in my collection.

its simple single player games, I myself have just been playing ps2 games and the game I did play that was somewhat recent was armored core fires of Rubicon

Its so slow, played for about 15 hours focusing on the main story and i could not let go off the feeling that i was going nowhere and that i was just walking around so that the devs could say "hey our game is sooo long"
