Make sure to check out the large breeder box here! (Its actually the better option in my opinion) ruclips.net/video/6_RH83jaeFM/видео.html
Can you please explain what the air pump is for, I’m confused
@@clerymejia3621 the air pump lifts the water through the intake pipe and causes the water to flow through. The air basically pushes the water.
Thank you. I have had this for years and had forgotten which parts I needed. This video helped me set mine up again. Cheers legend
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! We're shared it with our fans on Facebook.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I would love to do some more reviews of your products in the future. I actually already did another review on the large breeder box as well.
Thank you for the tutorial on the assembly.... Im gonna use it for a refugium... I couldn't make heads or tails from the instructions 😂😂😂😂 thanks again
So glad it helped! I will be reviewing the large version soon so subscribe to see it when it drops!
Thanks for the review and setup mate. Really helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU!
I have the Marina breeding box, 2 L . Also made by Hagen. It's very similar, but twice bigger . I love it..
Fluval is carrying that one now as well. You can subscribe to my channel and check out my review on that one here ruclips.net/video/6_RH83jaeFM/видео.html
Oh thank you for showing that. I have to have this in my life!!!
Definitely a useful tool to keep in the aquarium!

Make sure your subscribed!
Thank you so much ❤️ Me and my husband had a debate on whether to let that water flow through. Now that I see you put a sponge there, I'm gonna give it a try
Glad it was helpful! Hope you subscribed!
I will subscribe. You're extremely helpful ❤️
@@Mrs.Peets2u4life thanks! Greatly appreciated!
Great video, thank you.
The risk with these type of breeder tanks is that while the fry are allowed to fall through, they have to come back up through to grab air from the surface, which also shows us that they're healthy. This is where they risk being eaten.
They also get clogged at the tiny top screen and the air filter nozzle at the bottom with calcification and such, which is a risk with external hangers.
Have a nice day.
Typically fish don't need oxygen from the surface. Usually if you see fish that normally don't stay at the top of the water column swimming there it's because you don't have enough oxygen in your water column which can be addressed by adding surface agitation.
Very nice video I like
Thanks!
Looks good do you think I can heve scalare fry on this box ?
I'd probably go for the larger version and make sure I added sponge to the outflow to keep them from escaping.
i used this to make a mini hang on refugium for my nano reef tank turned out awesome
That's awesome! I definitely think the fluval breeding boxes have a lot of different uses.
The only thing I don’t like about it is trying to push that air hose through that little gap
That is definitely a pain
Does water drain out of breeder box during water change of main aquarium?
The water level in the breeder box doesn't change during water changes.
Nice demo. Are the slits in the divider big enough for platy & molly fry?
Yes
why does the air from the airpump go down and outside the tub? it doesnt push the water into the breeder box, instead it makes air bubbles inside the main tank.
The air acts as an uplift for the water. It causes the water to go up the tube into the breeder box.
Fluval-Marina =Are they the same brand?
Same parent company
Would this box work for egg layers?
It could if they are a small enough fish.
would this work with blue dream shrimp
Work in what way? It's probably too small to do much breeding and you would need a very fine sponge to keep the shrimplets in.
After finish setting it all up, it won't suck up the water into the breeding box. Do you guys think it b'cuz of the air pump or is the water level from the main aquarium can affect it?
Both of those are possibilities. If you can add more water to the tank I'd try that first.
Cool video. How do you like the air pump?
The air pump works great for these types of uses, I wouldn't want to use it long term as a primary air pump.
I have a innovative marine 30L tank. Will this work on a rimless?
Probably and if not I'm sure you could use news paper to fill the gap in the lip of the breeder box and make it work
what pump do you use? how do you attach the pump tube to the box? how wide is the tubing needed?
The tubing is just your typical aquarium airline tubing and attaches to the bottom of the intake tube. The intake tube has a small plastic end that the airline slides over. The air pump is a Auoker mini USB air pump you can get on Amazon.
I'll be reviewing the large breeder box soon so subscribe so you don't miss it.
Leave some comments or ask a question!
Could I add media and use it as a filter
You could but you might want to check out our finnex breeder box review as well because that can be set up to move more water and add more oxygen to the water.
Hi! I'm actually looking to do this, did you try it? if so how did it go?
Which pump do you use for waterflow?
The pump is linked in the video description.
@@IansFishRoom I realized halfway through the video that you were using an airpump haha.
I jerry rigged a small filter pump, installed it in my main aquarium and run the water through a filter to my breeding box haha.
The flow is pretty good. Its flows and doesnt drip, but i am still curioous about using this official method with the airpump
@@EuroGupper the air pump works well, especially for fry as it doesn't move too much water. A pump works well for an isolation box but not as much for fry.
@@IansFishRoom whats your take on adding Bladder snails to your breeding tank to clean up food waste?
@@EuroGupper I think its OK but I'm not convinced it's necessary.

Thanks for watching!
Thanks the in box instructions in this are pretty poor
Glad you found this helpful
I agree
These things are garbage for the water flow rate
Guess it depends what kind of fish you have. Do you need a high water flow rate for fry?
