INCREDIBLE Fish at the Scranton Aquarium
Can we grow it without soil??
THANK YOU!
Great little pump as a backup i have 5w one they changed it to barrel jack plug instead of usb
THANK YOU
I was thinking of doing the same thing but i have Ram cichlids
This would be great with rams
Mine is staying short. Won’t grow long.
Do you know what kind of val it is? Some stay shorter than others. Lighting can also impact heighth.
@ Vallisneria Americana
How often are water changes required? And is a sponge filter enough?
This set up got biweekly water changes of about 20% and the sponge filter was plenty, in large part because of the plants.
@@IansFishRoom 👍
Get rid of the background music! Annoying.
Thanks for the feedback
Will that sand all level out eventually?
Not for me but it will move some based on how you set up filtration, stocking, and vacuuming.
Thank you. I have had this for years and had forgotten which parts I needed. This video helped me set mine up again. Cheers legend
Glad it was helpful!
Love it! I was searching for exactly this.🎉
Glad you found it!
I feed all of the foods you talked about to my Pleco's. However recently I saw a video done by an ichthyologist that specializes in Pleco's. She talked about how vegetables are really not very good for Pleco's as they actually lack the digestive enzymes needed to break down the cell walls of the plants. She pointed out that vegetables are not something that any Pleco would eat in nature as they are not part of the Pleco's ecological niche. Just "food for thought".
Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into that more but I think you could make that case to some extent for almost all domesticated animals. You don't find a lot of kibble in the outdoors.
Thank you!! So nice and easy to do. Appreciate it.
You're welcome!
What's the length of the hose
You can get both of them in different lengths. These were 50' and 49'
Nice
Thanks for watching!
This just saved so much money!
Glad to hear!
Will that weaken the tank? I have a 90 litre tank i wanna do that with
It will. Always some risk involved. 90l is pushing where I'd be comfortable but I know some will go even bigger than that.
Will that weaken the tank? I have a 90 litre tank i wanna do that with
It does and 90l is about as big as I'd be comfortable with. There is added risk.
Thanks for the Tip...I just removed the rim from my 20 Gallon tank and it looks great . Just one more tip for cheapskates like me ... I didn't purchase a shop vac , I lined the inside of the tank with plastic wrap to catch the silicone ...Worked great 🙂
But then you didn't use my affiliate link lol. I'm pretty sure no one else has either.
@@IansFishRoomI'm not familiar with how it works ... I sub to the channel
Mine never hatch. What water are you using? I am thinking maybe mine is too hard
Iceberg lettuce doesn't contain much nutritional value for anyone in all reality ha
True
Do you sell them
No I don't but they would be pretty easy to sell
Do not sand paper your tank edges without wetting the glass and the paper first. If you don’t, glass particles can fly in the air and it may cause cancer
Glass is not carcinogenic so it won't cause cancer. It could cause asthma if you did inhale glass particles over time.
Being that it is so incredibly important, why not include an ammonia test tab?
Ammonia has to be tested differently (more time in the water) so you can't add an accurate test on the same strip. They do sell seperate ammonia test strips.
I am going to make this, put it with my rainbows, and report back to you 🫡 Thank you for the super clear tutorial.
Thanks for watching! What are you trying to breed?
@@IansFishRoom I have some yellow forktail rainbow furcatas. I fear they may already be past their breeding phase (as you mentioned in the video). I really love them for their looks and their curious personalities. I hope I can get some more on my own efforts 🤞
Gracias por tu video, es una buena luz, relación precio/calidad. Tiene dos problemas para mí. En la configuración 8times, los cambios entre times es brusco, no son suaves. El segundo problema es en la configuración 24h no permite cambiar el 100% de la potencia. Saludos.
Thanks for watching

MF is not coming to the point... Too annoying
I have only had my Val for one month and its already going crazy
It's awesome!
So, I don’t get it. Why cant a low tech tank have a bright light? Wouldn’t your plants prefer it? Or would the bright light hurt them?
Most plants don't mind high light but algae LOVES it. The added algae growth can kill the plants.
Will it cause any structural issues when you take it off? Kinda wanted to do it with a 40 gal, but by the looks of the coments, it seems quite risky.
It does cause structural issues and the bigger the tank the higher the risk.
This is a terrible idea. The Rims are there so the manufacturer can safely use thinner/cheaper glass. You will end up having to replace your aquarium spend $5,000 on new flooring.
@@BradfordRMcKnightlol no. Unless the tank had a center brace, the rim is just to protect you from thier shitty cut glass
Straining to hear what you're saying over that annoying loud and not needed music
Maybe I'll redo this video someday. This was early on in my youtube video making and I was still learning how to edit properly.
Pogostemon grows like crazy. It's a shame what I have to cut and throw away every week.
I often gave it to my local fish store.
You know what I appreciate? I have the tetra test kits and all the starter colors are off... They're darker than what's on the instructions for some of the tests... Mostly the nitrates which is what I look at most. It's definitely not white. So I just have to assume that because my color didn't change at all, my nitrates are fine??
I've had that same experience
Subwassertang and guppy grass makes a good shrimp tank👍
Agreed!
I have a mini bristle nosed pleco . Its lived ages off nothing . The mini pellets and perhaps flakes for the guppies . The fish dont fight either.
Plecos are very hardy but living and thriving are very different things.
Absolutely lovely!
Thank you! 😊
Had no clue about the instructions inside Lol. Thnx!
Lol
They somehow get out of the net breeding box 😭
A lot of fish jump so I recommend a lid and the net breeder adjusted so it's as close to the lid as you can get it.
Hello, I'm a Brazilian fan of yours. I want to set up a botanical aquarium with darker waters, but I have a question. At the beginning, when the aquarium starts to cycle, can I add the leaves/branches Or do I do this after cycling is finished?
You can add them as it's cycling. No need to wait.
Can you float it or it needs soil substrate?
You probably could float it but it's definitely going to be better planted in soil or substrate.
Great video, thanks. The metal clip is PERFECT for my bait bucket. Keeps the pump above the water level which prevents backwash. It also came with a clip for the hoses to prevent backwash. My charger is slightly different. USB but has a magnet in the pump end.
Thanks for watching!
Is it ok to put a frozen green beans in?
Yep
im thinking about getting a pleco for my 55 gallon and i would not be able to feed them bloodworms because my zebra danios turn into mini piranhas and eat all in 0.73 seconds
Even if you feed after lights out?
@@IansFishRoom I don't feed them with lights outs but i will try tonight since i haven't fed them today
Mines been struggling to grow and mines next to the window
Are you using root tabs?
My pleco are same size from 6 month
What kind of pleco and how big is it? They do slow their growth rate as they get older.
@@IansFishRoom it's albino bristle nose and there size is 1-1.5 inch
Thanks! Great video..
Thanks for watching!
Just take it out from the stand and hold it by the handle in 1 hand and with other hand open the valve above your container even in the living room watching favourite show. Whats bad about it? 😂
There are definitely easy work around but if you like to strain your shrimp that won't work. It doesn't need to be changed but I think a slight modification would be great.
It seems to be susceptible to green hair algae. Solutions?
Less light or amano shrimp. You can also increase water change schedule unless you water is heavy in iron.
OK, thanks!
how can i add something to brace if i have a 70 gallon tall
Personally I wouldn't attempt it with this tank....but...you could get some glass cut that is the same thickness and silicone it as cross braces.
