    I have a PH very close to 8 and they still grow great for me. As long as they have good light and good nutrients they will thrive. Love the video brother! 💚💚

      @@IansFishRoom As soon as I can get the funds together, you know how expensive it can be, lol! Thinking about setting up a heavily planted 55 gallon barb only community tank. I really love the Odessa barbs and have not had a chance to have them yet, will probably go with some Tiger and Cherry barbs as well.

    Your scape is beautiful with your variety of plants and colors. I’ve had Alternanthera Reineckii in the past planted in Fluval stratum substrate in a low tech aquarium wth low lights that did really well. I’m actually considering planting it again in a new low tech aquarium for that’s how much I really love the look of this plant.

    The flames and Melons are a nice swords - a few other "reddish" plants for low-tech are : Red Rubin Swords , Tiger Lotus, Cryptocoryne wendtii red, Cryptocoryne wendtii brown, Cryptocoryne beckettii, - there are some others as well but drawing a blank atm lol

      Yup - not always red though , same as tiger lotus . If bought as bulbs you won’t know color until it starts growing out .

    I rescued some almost dead algae covered plants from my nephew and trying to figure out what this beautiful red and green plant is. It’s doing VERY well and propagating now that it’s in High Light and some CO2. I think it’s the Red Melon Sword! This is a Beautiful plant 🙂

    I have 2 tiger lotus for a while, both fantastic. No variations on the swords in the uk I have seen. Just started with co2 this week. Don’t really know what to expect(maybe a good video idea) got my fingers crossed

    You forget that RUclips is world wide and you are only talking about what you can get there in YOUR area of USA not overseas where I am .. in Australia these plants are not available.... maybe youtubers need to be aware of this when they are saying you can get this easy at..... when its not easy.. and I have researched these plants and they are both Medium to hard scale of care plants on just about every page I have looked at and need medium light not low light.. so maybe a correction is needed.... well from my research I have done here in Melbourne Australia...

    • @IansFishRoom
      @IansFishRoom  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for the feedback regarding availability in other countries, I'll definitely try to keep it in mind in the future. As far as them being hard plants to keep I would strongly disagree. I have kept them both in low light and high light tanks and while you get more red color in higher lights they definitely grow well in low light/low tech tanks.

    • @IansFishRoom
      @IansFishRoom  2 года назад +1

      @@shednscalz4620 crypts and swords are primarily root feeders and not water column feeders so you definitely want to add some root tabs to your substrate. I've never personally used leaf zone so I'm not sure how good it is as a water column fertilizer.

      I also think that light is more of a Saltwater light used for growing corals. It should be enough light if using the white setting but I'd avoid the blue light setting.
