I always go with logging camp is first, buy ox, then houses, to build you need people, people forgot that even though it's 5 families it's only 10 people at start, 5 houses add 5 people. it also reduce the morale penalty for being homeless, the longer they are homeless the greater the penalty.
I'm not even into games like this. But I just played for 12 hours straight. I had to literally pull myself away from my computer and throw myself into bed. Can't wait to wake up and continue 😌

I'm quite new to strategy games and city builders, but decided to go in blind anyway and just test for an hour. I think I did quite well, occasionally reaching 100% approval. But when I looked at the clock, that hour had turned into 5 😅 Seems like an amazing game and I can't wait to continue tonight! And quite a few of the tips given here will definitely be helpful!
This game reminds me of a cross between Settlers 3 & Tropico 4, with a small blend of Medieval Total War. The population management, approval ratings, building functions, and sub-resources systems are quite similar. I’m excited to try this out as it also just came out on Xbox Game Pass!
I recall once softlocking myself in Settlers 3, I had forgotten to build a sawmill, so I had plenty of lumber but I had no planks to build the sawmill I needed to make planks. I think I managed to salvage the situation by demolishing enough buildings to get things going again but pay attention to those supplychains peps
Manor lords will warn you before you run out of wood telling you to either build a logging camp or assign a family to an existing one to avoid blocking yourself.
Thank you for this video. I really appreciate it. I tried to play this game yesterday, went in blind and i was wrecked and with balanced settings!. I would not say that i did well but not as bad as i was expecting either, i ended up having a lvl 3 settlement and managed to survive for 7 years before i got raided for the second time and they literally destroyed everything. My only issue was on how to create an army and make weapons. I was making small houses, i didn't know you need to make them big enough to have a yard, and from that yard you can make artisans, that was my main ''f**k up''. Also i did some mistakes in trading i didn't know how it kinda worked, i had these money icons that were like: 7/16 i didn't know that those meant the export and import income. But yeah i'm kinda excited to go for the second time thanks to your video! - Thanks again!
gave it a shot earlier today; frankly the current most noticeable issue is clarity of info. how much exactly am I producing? how much exactly they are consuming? How many do I produce per day? Which building is functional with how many family assigned? I constantly struggle with these info, cycling through buildings over and over and over trying to figure it out... these are things I hope to see getting improved; could learn from other games like Frostpunk & Anno - they present their production info so incredibly well.
I couldn't generate taxes. I built my manor, but when adjusting the taxes, even up to 100%, it didn't affect their happiness level. Plus, my gold stayed at zero. Bug?
oh man I didnt realize the extra yard space was used for veggies and chickens, I got my first village in passive mode up to like 110 people and starved because I grew too fast and tried to rely on a wheat farm lol.
I don't understand, it was all going well but after year 1 the AI lord claimed 2 regions next to me, and another one. I just had 18 spearmen and finally wanted to take down some bandits but I was too late already. Any suggestions? Start all over again? Lower the AI aggression? I would hate to completely turn off the AI lord. P.S. I thought the lord was supposed to sit still untill the player declares war on him but no, it rushes and claims the whole map within 2 years with it's infinite resources...
Thank you for this video. I wish the game had a better in game tutorial. I started a game on the most relaxed difficulty setting, and other than a couple pop ups about building burgages and camera control I barely got any tips or pop-ups on how things worked. More often than not I'd only get a tutorial pop up after I'd already clicked on an action, often randomly. Wish they would have included a more structured walkthrough.
I've got the basics down thanks to this guide and some personal tinkering around. I'm approaching where homes can reach level 2 now and I feel like the game is about to get a bit more complicated with newer needs I'll have to struggle. I think the biggest thing for me right now is how to manage settlements in multiple regions. I haven't unlocked it yet so maybe it isn't that hard. But just reading about it seems a little confusing.
i really like how does the lvl 3 plots looks with the double house thing but i dont know if you get the double house just with lvl 3 or lvl 3 and second family expansion, can someone please tell me
with regards to farming, in the early game it can be better to make several smaller fields that total 1 morgan instead of 1 large morgan field. This way you can set the priorities of the fields and if for whatever reason your population can't manage the whole morgan, you will still get yields from the portions they can handle
One MASSIVE thing that hurt me for almost 2 years was not realizing I needed tons of marketplace locations. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't distribute stuff to my houses to keep em happy. Oops!
Good video mate! ^ ^ One problem with trading is that after a little while the things I sell lose value and get traded for 1 silver. My economy was amazing, now I can barely hold on.
I started the middle game and was building a fine little town. I made it to like 30-40 families within 2 years. As in my first attempt I was raided by the NPC in the 2nd year with like 3-4 armies where I barely could recruit 17 men, I now set the time for the first raid to the 3rd year. In the first year, the NPC claimed the farthest away territory in the 2nd year he claimed the one right next to me. So I tried the combat option. Raised 2 armies, one pikener and one bow and sent them to the challenged land waiting for them to attack. At first 5 armies (one 18 men and 4 36 men with one of those being a star one)) moved to this country and after a while a second wave of the same size and portion joined them. How is anyone supposed to beat that army? What was more confusing though was that the claim was "peaced out" without them entering the land and them winning the land. Am I supposed to attack the NPC on enemy territory when they claim an other land? That's not very intuitive and the size of army at this point in game is just stupid. Why not grant the NPC all other land claims from the start if we aren't supposed to keep him away for the first 4-5 years anyway and he's claiming land after land? What I also noticed is that my firewood cutters stopped doing anything after a reload. And as such, my firewood supply dropped from 83 to 2 within a couple of month before I realized that they just don't do anything.
I have some iron in my trading post which I imported but the workers in the blacksmith aren't taking them to their house and aren't making any swords. I have maxed out my people in the warehouse and was thinking maybe they need to take them out of the trading post first and put it into the market? is this the case? I might need to build another warehouse then

Easy vs raiders vs Baron I am doing Baron and have taken back 3 regions by force but he has full armies every time.. one time he attacked to defencd 2 times in teh time limit both times with same Mercs and a full 36 man Retiune

Is it just me having problems with getting bread. I have an oven right next to it with workforce on it but they rather pile up the flour in the mill instead of start baking bread. People always starving with 250 of flour.
didn't knew about the manor during the first run (& didn't played with baron, since I wanted no pressure). In the end, I've built a large city, that could just throw wealth on problems and import everything (city specialisation on bread, coal and trade). ... Then I build the Manor and noticed that there is a retinue in the game and my levy army was kinda unnecessary ;D
you can only have ONE MANOR on the river map..not a manor in each provence and a total of 6 x 36 units with a max of 24 knights ..the baron on his last provence can have about 700 plus troops to fight youi it is a right screw up at the moment VERY.VERY basic.
Anyone else having massive issues with storehouses not being used? I've been looking everywhere trying to figure this out: I built a deep mine for iron, but its really far from my town. I figured okay so i build a storehouse right next to it and they will store the overflow in it. Then assigned people to store only iron ore in it and highlighted the mine as the work area. They wont store anything in the storehouse. The mine is constantly full and they walk all the way back to the town or just sit waiting not using the storehouse. Do they have a forum somewhere for these types of issues?

Thank you so much! This is true, I didn't cover sheep, they are a bit convoluted. You purchase sheep from an animal trader, then you build a sheep pen (or whatever it's called) to keep sheep there if you need to. Alternatively if you have the grazing development, you can just keep your sheep there all year round if there's enough space for them :)
I run into problem when saw mill isn't getting logs to make planks even though I have more then enough logs. Does anyone know how to solve that problem?
all of my 12 saves i keep getting stuck of low food supply at relaxing mode without enemy, even bandit. I'm so lost xD. I keep relying on past winter when berries grow.
It would be cool if you could make a tutorial on how to setup a castle without having all the ressources because its so expensive. I heard that this is possible but i didnt hear how. 😢
I'm an actual lord, with enough land to cover 2 or 3 of those zones and quite a few buildings with workers. It is just as fun in real life to micromanage things as it is in the game, though the progression speed, waay different.
Very good basic guide. I love how accurately you've nailed everything ngl. And the way you were explaining. PS. I think that the two trading perks are ridiculously overpowered. Way more important than any other in the game as of its current state. Well, trading in general is pretty bonkers in this game.
Question when you have items in the trading post how do you get it out I order ale from the trader but when I set a granary to literally only take in ale and max out the people they will take it out off the trading post but when the tavern collects it they also take back the ale supply from the tavern

#1 tip get more oxen early on. If you get too much going on before buying more your entire city Grinds to a halt and everything takes much longer.

it's essentially just like beginning a whole new game, just in a different region. It's quite great, since the regions are independent!

What I also noticed is that my firewood cutters stopped doing anything after a reload. And as such, my firewood supply dropped from 83 to 2 within a couple of month before I realized that they just don't do anything.

Logging camps can be far from storage huts because logs aren't stored there, instead are stored at the lumber yard itself.

I have some iron in my trading post which I imported but the workers in the blacksmith aren't taking them to their house and aren't making any swords. I have maxed out my people in the warehouse and was thinking maybe they need to take them out of the trading post first and put it into the market? is this the case? I might need to build another warehouse then

Hi all just wondering.. is there a city size over Large Town? Or at least a way to unlock more devolpment than 6? or is it based on game type your playing? Easy vs raiders vs Baron I am doing Baron and have taken back 3 regions by force but he has full armies every time.. one time he attacked to defencd 2 times in teh time limit both times with same Mercs and a full 36 man Retiune
What does equipping families to the trading post do for you? They just move the goods faster?
3rd time starting the game i actual got some house builds and lumber then no more buildings will build and end up running outta food or fuel I have no idea what im doing
Is it just me having problems with getting bread. I have an oven right next to it with workforce on it but they rather pile up the flour in the mill instead of start baking bread. People always starving with 250 of flour.
have you checked what the bread makers are doing? are they actually making bread or for whatever reason doing other things?

Sheep can be bought at animal trader, change the status to import, set the surplus to the amount you want to buy/own.
didn't knew about the manor during the first run (& didn't played with baron, since I wanted no pressure). In the end, I've built a large city, that could just throw wealth on problems and import everything (city specialisation on bread, coal and trade).
... Then I build the Manor and noticed that there is a retinue in the game and my levy army was kinda unnecessary ;D
you can only have ONE MANOR on the river map..not a manor in each provence and a total of 6 x 36 units with a max of 24 knights ..the baron on his last provence can have about 700 plus troops to fight youi it is a right screw up at the moment VERY.VERY basic.
Anyone else having massive issues with storehouses not being used? I've been looking everywhere trying to figure this out: I built a deep mine for iron, but its really far from my town. I figured okay so i build a storehouse right next to it and they will store the overflow in it. Then assigned people to store only iron ore in it and highlighted the mine as the work area. They wont store anything in the storehouse. The mine is constantly full and they walk all the way back to the town or just sit waiting not using the storehouse. Do they have a forum somewhere for these types of issues?

Thank you so much! This is true, I didn't cover sheep, they are a bit convoluted. You purchase sheep from an animal trader, then you build a sheep pen (or whatever it's called) to keep sheep there if you need to. Alternatively if you have the grazing development, you can just keep your sheep there all year round if there's enough space for them :)
I run into problem when saw mill isn't getting logs to make planks even though I have more then enough logs. Does anyone know how to solve that problem?
what if the hunting resources are far away from my settlement how do i proceed then ? do i still go with tannery ?

all of my 12 saves i keep getting stuck of low food supply at relaxing mode without enemy, even bandit. I'm so lost xD. I keep relying on past winter when berries grow.

How do you handle traders oversaturating the market? I find a have to switch trades off and on to prevent my stuff being sold for peanuts

do you have mercenaries recruited? if you're losing money from the region, are you importing goods? taxing your people?

I'm an actual lord, with enough land to cover 2 or 3 of those zones and quite a few buildings with workers. It is just as fun in real life to micromanage things as it is in the game, though the progression speed, waay different.

PS. I think that the two trading perks are ridiculously overpowered. Way more important than any other in the game as of its current state. Well, trading in general is pretty bonkers in this game.
Question when you have items in the trading post how do you get it out I order ale from the trader but when I set a granary to literally only take in ale and max out the people they will take it out off the trading post but when the tavern collects it they also take back the ale supply from the tavern
