Yes I was making hat and noticed it was also too small so did another increase for a total of 40 (1hdc 1hdc1hdc and 2 hdc) ended with 40 then 1hdc 40 times from row 6 to 9. This made hat bigger for adult. Thanks so much instruction were made easy.🤗
Thanks for sharing your craft ❤ as for adjustments…..I did the same as LindiaLiz with 42 hdc..as crocheters we all know this is normal to gage to the size you want based on the tightness of your stitch …not everyone is going to be the same. And same for head sizes😂😂😂 I like starting in the crown..no sewing and no bunching!! Thanks again @LovinglyNie
Thank you. Great little tutorial. I really appreciate you putting the written instructions right in the video - makes it so easy to work along with you.
As mentioned, this is the clearest, most straightforward magic circle how-to I’ve ever found, and the pattern is presented in a very easy-to-follow way. THANK YOU for sharing your talent with us! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you for making this beanie so easy!! I have mastered it even the front and back post!! I’ve made 4 so far. I will add that I stitch tighter so it ends up fitting a child. For an adult I added one more increase round and one more round of posts!! Works out PERFECT!! Thank you for making it so EASY!!
Love this pattern but hat was child-sized even with 9mm hook and I tend to crochet loosely. Added more stitches and rows as others have also suggested.
Thank You for the very clear example of the magic circle!! No one else has made that very clear, perfect for hats! I'm going to make this hat thank you!
I was afraid my hat would be too small, like a lot of the comments said their's were. I used the same size L hook & it's the perfect size. Love this pattern!
Thank you for the super easy tutorial. My hat was more of a fit for a child. I will make another one using 1 size larger hook to see if there is a difference. I am making hats for the lion brand hatnothate antibullying campaign.
I love the simplicity of this pattern and how the front post and back post give a nice edging. I realized almost halfway through that my stitches are much tighter than yours so hat is much smaller. I’ll try a 9mm hook next time. Thank you for the instruction
Thank you so much for your patient tutorial. I had to go back to row 6 bc when I got to row 9, it looked like a cone head on me. So I followed the 1, 1, 2 and then continued. Came out wonderfully. Would you do a tutorial on how to alter patterns for larger heads, or more hairy heads?? Lol. Thank you.
The hat fit me perfectly but I used a size 10 mm hook which is bigger than the one she used. The instructions were great and I’m so happy to find somebody who can actually show me how to do it. ♥️♥️♥️
I made the beanie. It looks very nice, however I crochet tightly (as I found out) and the hat will fit a young child. 😊 I will attempt again. Thank you for the pattern and tutorial.
The pattern and instructions were super easy to follow and I ended up with a really cute hat, but, it was more of a child size and I did the increases as instructed maybe I just have a tighter hand?
I had the same problem but I frogged a few rows and started using a hook size 10 and added a few more rows then what she said and the hat is a perfect adult size fit.
Oh good, it's not just me. It made a really cute kid's hat, but definitely not big enough for an adult even once stretched a bit. I might try it one more time and add in some stitches somewhere along the way.
Same here. I added 3 rows before the post rows. It fits me in length but it’s definitely tight fitting and I have a small head. I plan to go up to a 9mm hook and add a few stitches to each round and keep the additional 3 rows.
I just finished making this beanie. Super easy instructions. I did use a larger hook size, 9mm and I added a row of HDC before starting the ribbing band part. It came out perfectly. I also added a cute fur pom pom on the top! Thank you for this tutorial. It took me less than 30 minutes to make and now I have a nice warm hat! 😁
Vicki C Hi! I want to make one for my husband. I want to make it without a Pom, though. In your opinion, does it need one to make it look finished? I want it to go with a nice overcoat, and look a bit more polished. I’ll do the HDC advice. I have a nice 5 wool yarn. I just want it to look good and not have that space-e look between stitches, if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance if you want to answer.
Mango T Hi 👋🏼 . In my opinion this hat would not be the one that I would make for what you want, a man and a more polished looked. I would do another search for men’s beanies or hats. If you know how to knit that might be a better option. You still might be able to find a nice crochet mans version. Hope thia helps. 😄
Vicki C Thank you for your honest opinion😃. I’ll keep looking. I’ll make myself one with something else out of my stash. And I’ll follow your recommendations, as I tend to crochet a bit tight. No, I can’t knit, I wish I could! It really does give a nice look. Thanks again, yarnies are the best😉
Thanks for this pattern. For my head (which I consider to be small - my hat size is 6 and 7/8), I added one more row of half-double crochet, so 10 rows plus 2 ribbed rows. If I make another, I might experiment with 11 rows + 2. Cute hat! Thanks again.
Thank you! I followed along, and it looks beautiful! First time I’ve been able to make a beanie that looks good!💞💕Thanks also for the written instructions. That helped a lot.
I had the same problem with the super chunky yarn on another hat similar to this. It was supposed to be one hour, 27 rows. Well it took me a lot longer than an hour and I ended up with something like 35 rows. I figured it’s because I crochet pretty tight. On this one I’m going to use a couple hook sizes up and try to do it looser. That’s a pretty big hook she’s using, but I’ll give your idea a try, Tim.😀
I have chunky 5 like to know what size hook would you use its lion brand and it says bulky 5 I never used anything but 4 ply so I am wanting to try a beanie hat with this 5 ply chunky yarn
Hello. I did enjoy your video. Mine was too short. I only had a K hook. (6-1/2mm). Do you think that is why? I’m increasing to 11 rows then the band. Do you think that would be appropriate?
I used the Wool Ease thick and quick yarn bulky six. But I used a MN 9 mm crochet needle. Due to arthritis my tension is not consistent, but found that the larger size hook gave me the size I wanted. I tried the ten but with loose stitches it made the spaces between stitches too big. I also wonder if the person tried DC instead of HDC found the hat to be thicker and close together stitches?
Love the patten and easy to follow only one question if you can help me? My daughter -in law her head size is 58cm I had follow the one you show but hour her is bit small can you let me know how many row I should do for her size? Thank you and keep up the good work.
I just made this hat and it looks so nice! But when I tried it on, it was on the small side. I am guessing that I could add a few rows before I finish with the front and back post stitches. Or maybe you have a tutorial/pattern for an XL size?
I had same problem-- very cute hat, but too small. Even though I used same yarn as you did, and same crochet hook. Do you have suggestions on how to make this hat a "true" Adult size?
I followed the exact same thing and used the same yarn and hook and still came out small. I'm not a newbie and been crocheting over 4 years now so I know I didn't mess up😔
I made this hat with the same hook size and yarn size and it came out fitting a newborn, disappointing but ill use it with some other yarn and try again
I'm on row 11, and this hat might fit a small child, but in no way will it fit an adult. I'm using super bulky yarn (#6) and a size 8mm hook and followed the pattern exactly. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Karla. For child size you stop increase at round 3 and crochet in around from round 4 onwards. Make total 9 rounds only, so the fphdc & bphdc start at round 8.
This is definitely too small to be an adult size! I wish I had read comments first. Luckily, I have a granddaughter that will likely be able to wear it. It is a very nice and easy pattern though.
This is a fantastic tutorial. Very easy to follow. Thank you for making this so easy to follow
TY for correction. I'm making them to give to the unsheltered in my area.

Thank you for sharing, I made this hat but added more increase rows, 14 rows then did the front post and back post. The hat turned out perfect.
Thank you. Great little tutorial. I really appreciate you putting the written instructions right in the video - makes it so easy to work along with you.

What a fantastic tutorial! And it's such a help to have the written pattern to refer to. Thanks so much😁
Love this pattern but hat was child-sized even with 9mm hook and I tend to crochet loosely. Added more stitches and rows as others have also suggested.
Thank You for the very clear example of the magic circle!! No one else has made that very clear, perfect for hats! I'm going to make this hat thank you!
You are so welcome!
I’ve made several of these hats just tonight! Thank you for showing us how to make an easy and very nice hat and for the written directions too.
I was afraid my hat would be too small, like a lot of the comments said their's were. I used the same size L hook & it's the perfect size. Love this pattern!

this is probably the easiest way I learned how to make a magic circle, thank you !!! :)
Thank you so much for your patient tutorial. I had to go back to row 6 bc when I got to row 9, it looked like a cone head on me. So I followed the 1, 1, 2 and then continued. Came out wonderfully. Chilipepr Sandi I had the same issue. To small for an adult.
Me too! But I found it made a good basket for my crochet hooks. Gonna try again!
Me too, good thing I have 3 grand daughters
This is one of the easiest beanies to make for someone new to crochet like me. The instructions are very good! Thank you!
This is the best tutorial I have ever seem! it took me a few tries as I am a newbie! But, my beanie came out perfect! Thank you so much!

Success! I tried it again, this time using 9hdc in the first row instead of 8. I also added three additional rows onto the end. Now it's perfect!
Same here. I added 3 rows before the post rows. It fits me in length but it’s definitely tight fitting and I have a small head. I plan to go up to a 9mm hook and add a few stitches to each round and keep the additional 3 rows.
Thank you for also writing the directions in the video.
I just followed your instructions, and now have a beautiful hat. Very easy to follow. Thank you so much.
I stopped increasing after round 5 and made it 13 rows long. It fits perfectly and I have a small head.
I just finished making this beanie. Super easy instructions. I did use a larger hook size, 9mm and I added a row of HDC before starting the ribbing band part. It came out perfectly. Nicest hat I’ve made so far, out of about 10. Thankyou 😘
Thank you for your video! I love the way you teach and I love how the beanie turned out I am making another one! 💕
Thank you! I followed along, and it looks beautiful! First time I’ve been able to make a beanie that looks good!💞💕Thanks also for the written instructions. That helped a lot.
You made it east to follow and I used exact yarn and hook and no way this would fit a man and small for an average woman too.
I had the same result as you.....I think she crochets loosely. I tried the exact pattern with a 10mm hook and it was a much better fit. :)
I had the same problem with the super chunky yarn on another hat similar to this. It was supposed to be one hour, 27 rows. I increased once more (to 40 hdc), and it fit better
Was the circumference 22 inches and 8 inches from top to edge?
Gosh... you are one busy person. Thanks for the pattern‼️👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️💕💕
I have chunky 5 like to know what size hook would you use its lion brand and it says bulky 5 I never used anything but 4 ply so I am wanting to try a beanie hat with this 5 ply chunky yarn
Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial 😁👍🧶
You make this look so easy to make, especially the way you explain the tutorial! I cant wait to make this!
These are so pretty, thank you for the tutorial!
What a great video..
I really like this pattern! It made a really cute beanie. Thank you! :)
Beautiful Nie! So easy!
Very easy to do nice pattern. Thank you
Thank you so much I love this hat and now I know how to make the magic circle too!!
Can you tell me what those beautiful hooks are .
Excellent teaching! Very clear and understandable! Thank you!
So easy. I appreciate the instructions. Thank you.
Hello. I did enjoy your video. Mine was too short. I only had a K hook. (6-1/2mm). Do you think that is why? I’m increasing to 11 rows then the band. Do you think that would be appropriate?
🤩🤩love the quick and easy pattern.... could I used double crochet stitch instead of the half double to have it a little thicker??
I used the Wool Ease thick and quick yarn bulky six. But I used a MN 9 mm crochet needle. Due to arthritis my tension is not consistent, but found that the larger size hook gave me the size I wanted. Easy and beautiful, thanks for sharing.😀💜
Love the patten and easy to follow only one question if you can help me? My daughter -in law her head size is 58cm I had follow the one you show but hour her is bit small can you let me know how many row I should do for her size?
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Good video with excellent instructions. Love the hat. Thank You.
Very easy to follow along! Thank you 😘
Very easy tutorial like it
Can I use the 86 yard skein to make this?
Lovely
Can this be made with size 5 chunky yarn and 6.5mm hook?
This is a very easy pattern!!! Thank you for sharing.
Great video!
I just made this hat and it looks so nice! But when I tried it on, it was on the small side. I am guessing that I could add a few rows before I finish with the front and back post stitches. Or maybe you have a tutorial/pattern for an XL size?
Hi Alexis, perhaps using bigger ? not sure though. I don't have pattern for KL size, maybe soon.
@@LovinglyNie same with me I used the same weight yarn and same hook and its only 14" circumference don't know what I did wrong?
I had the same issue, I added a couple of more rows. Maybe our tension is a little tighter. Still came out cute!
I had same problem-- very cute hat, but too small. Even though I used same yarn as you did, and same crochet hook. Do you have suggestions on how to make this hat a "true" Adult size?
Hi, did u used the same yarn #6?
Thank you for tutorial, it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be
Hi Kelli. What is the measurement you get after finishing this beanie? Are you using same yarn?
I followed the exact same thing and used the same yarn and hook and still came out small. I'm not a newbie and been crocheting over 4 years now so I know I didn't mess up😔
Love this one. So cute.
Quick, simple and cute! 😊😍👍🏽
Thank you for the awesome tutorial😆
Thank you so much! This was super easy to follow for a beginner :)
😘♥️Thankyou, made 2 this week. You are a big help.
I like it!!!!
I made this hat with the same hook size and yarn size and it came out fitting a newborn, disappointing but ill use it with some other yarn and try again
Thank you a nice easy one I can do.
I'm on row 11, and this hat might fit a small child, but in no way will it fit an adult. I'm using super bulky yarn (#6) and a size 8mm hook and followed the pattern exactly. What am I doing wrong?
Yes it is for small adults
LOVE it... thank you for sharing 🧶🧶🧶😊
Hihi what if my yarn not so thick , so how can I do it ?
Easy to understand TY.
Can you add link for your crotchet needles ?
How can I make this bigger?
Do I repeat round four 8x with the same pattern ?
Made exactly as written and it is small and tight. Frogged it. Would suggest sizing up with hook and perhaps add a very stitches.
Nice and easy :)
Great video Thank you
Hello there! New subscriber
Is that using just one skein?
i love it! Thank you!
Please make a pattern like this with bigger sizes
So nice and easy can you give stitch counts for a child size
Hi Karla. For child size you stop increase at round 3 and crochet in around from round 4 onwards. Make total 9 rounds only, so the fphdc & bphdc start at round 8.
How can I make this in a youth size?
How many yards? Can I use Lion Brand Hometown and have enough yardage with just one?
I ripped it all out and used a 10 MM and its still only 16" circumference not sure why.
I have the same issue, it is way too small!
She crochets very loosely. Try to use a very loose tension
Hi Its Kris Yes, I’ve had the same problem. I’m not sure it’s worth ripping out and redoing if others have the same issue.
When you ch 1 and then the hdc does the hdc go into the same ch 1 space or into the next ch ??
Next
What is the measurement ? Like 21 or 22 ?
Hi cute
How do I change the pattern for a 12 year old please
Sorry but I don’t really get it because there was a part we’re it was like so fast and I wanted to know how much stitches
Is that a k size hook??? Thanx 💘
This is definitely too small to be an adult size! I wish I had read comments first. Luckily, I have a granddaughter that will likely be able to wear it. It is a very nice and easy pattern though.
Mine came out small
Is that a US size 8 hook? It looks like a US N/15...
Hi Lisa. I think it’s US L / 11
Thank you! You do nice work, easy to follow 😊
I must have tight stitching! I used a 10.00 mm/bulky #6 and it came out child size 😂
@@lisazalewski4977 I used an 8 mm and bulky 6 and its child size also 14" circumference. Kris
I do not know where I made I mistake, mine is smaller🤦🏻♀️
Why are you using a super bulky yarn for a chunky beanie. Isn't the count going to be different?
Yea not for me doesn’t fit
Hat is too small for adult. First row should be at least 11 or 12 stitches. This hat would only fit a young teenager.
