    I made a blanket out of that exact yarn for my granddaughter. I made several of these beanies out of what I had left and the ladies I gave them too absolutely love them and are getting compliments a lot on them. Just wanted to say thank you!

    Lovely and very easy pattern for a hat.
    Yarns like Bernat Blanket (various thickness), Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, and other bulky yarns etc. are some of the easiest yarns to work with. Especially for beginners. Unless you're using darker colors or working with yarns like Bernat Pipsqueak (and even that can be easy) or Bernat Baby Blanket tiny etc, it's virtually impossible not to see your work. To find your stitches using the furry Pipsqueak, I have found it easier to find my stitches by feeling for them. At first it was difficult, because I was physically looking for them. But then just FEELING for the next stitch became the easiest way for me to work with this yarn.
    Again, lovely pattern and tutorial. Thank you.

      Beginner error; I’m having a tough time following…I loose count rows and as I’m doing the double crochet- I’m partially deaf and captions go to fast…then a add pops up. My square looks wonky and several hole openings. Not sure to unravel and start over….my thumb is killing me from my arthritis….lost!

    I have never made a hat before and needed it to match a baby blanket done with the Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. The tutorial was easy and well done and I understood every part of it. The only trouble I had was pulling it closed. One side seemed to stick out more than the other but it came out cute anyway. I was pleased with the results. Thanks for the help

    I had some leftover bernat and I made this. Unfortunately it looks so ridiculous on me. The rim is too long for my head 4 would have been better for me than 6 stitches. I have a lot of hair so I prefer bun hats. I tried decreasing this and I would have had to start on row two. Oh well another good will donation 😂! I may try with a smaller yarn. Thank you for the video.

    You can thread a loop of a thread or smaller yarn through the eye of the needle. Thread your bulky yarn through that “eye” instead.

    I love this pattern! I have a lot of baby bernat yarn and have been looking fir more projects for this yarn besides blanket! But I am so confused! So no matter what size the band is I do 38 stiches for first row ? Or did I miss something? I would like to do toddler small child and adults? Help super new crocheter!

    • @CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie
      @CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie  4 года назад +1

      This is a pattern for an adult sized beanie. If you would like to make is smaller than you would start with less chains in the beginning and you would have to modify the pattern. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. Maybe soon I can a do a toddler/child beanie with this yarn. I do have a video that shows how to make “all” size beanies but it’s not with this yarn and not this pattern. Let me know if you would like the link. 😊

    • @CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie
      @CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie  3 года назад

      You will have to change the beginning chain for the brim to fit as you would think. After that I do 38 hdc around - you will have to change this as well. ❤️

  • @kristi1189
    @kristi1189 4 года назад

    Can you have more double crochet than 38 if they are evenly spaced? I have problems getting it right! About how far apart the dc should be in inches? :)

    • @CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie
      @CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie  4 года назад

      If you do much more than 38 and you are using chunky yarn and a big hook then the hat might be too big. If your count is off by just a stitch or two then it’s no big deal. As far as the distance between double crochets, I can’t be sure - it totally depends on the size yarn and hook you are using. Just keep practicing, don’t give up, and don’t over think it. Just keep going with what you have as long as you don’t have a lot of extra double crochets. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further help. ❤️
