I watched a similar video from a different person and was SO confused I can’t tell you. I’m a beginner but I couldn’t even follow the super simple plan. Yours actually made sense because you demonstrated and explained several things she considered things you’d already know. Thank you!
Love this pattern! Love the fact that it doesn’t leave the chunky top! Perfect!!! Simply perfect!!!! I’m on my second one and I get so many compliments on my beanie! Thank you so much for doing this.
I love this beanie and think it will be my first project. I recently started crocheting again, I made blankets and throws in the 70's, so basically I'm a beginner and you made this look so easy. I found your channel a few days ago and love you and your content so much. Thanks for sharing this cool pattern.
Timestamps for references (and for myself !!) 1:58 and 3:05 . First one already has the extra chain , second starts with showing the extra chain and 8:22 to finish 🖤🫶🏼 also, i love this!! Currently trying to get back into crocheting, and its been a bit cold !! Making a beanie for my dad as a Christmas present !!
I recently made a beanie a similar way but instead of slip stitches I used single crochet with weight 4 yarn Came out beautiful just like this. Took me 10 freakin hours tho. Worth it 💙
I made a purple hat for my 1 year old! I did 16+1 chain and 12 rows. Slip stitched the last 6 every other row. Now I want to make one for my 4 year old and myself too! Thank you for clearly showing and explaining everything you were doing
I did it!! My first crochet project and it turned out great. The video was simple to follow and everything fell into place as it was meant to. Took me two days but the hat is here and looking fabulous.
This is the 2cd design I used for crocheting a beannie. Loved the direction to slip stitch every other row on the top making it much less bulky.Loved the final product. Thank you.
this is my second project and it turned out lovely !! the instructions were so easy to follow. i def made a couple mistakes and had to try closing the top several times before i could get it all the way closed but it all worked out in the end and still looks super nice
Im new to your channel and I would like to say you are a fantastic teacher . Your voice is so clear , the pace in which you show the stitches and talk as you instruct are easy to follow . I tried to make a hat with similar stitches from another channel and failed miserably. I came across your video and tried again this time I caught on. I really wanted to learn how to make a hat. You have given me the confidence i needed to keep going.I really appreciate the time you take to teach crochete. I will forever be grateful ❤
you are so sweet, thank you for sharing this with me!! hearing that i was able to teach you in a way that you understand is my most flattering compliment, i appreciate you
Would like to know if the yarn is Super Bulky #6? I have a couple of balls in the the same yarn and it shows that I am to use a 9 mm hook? Can you provide the finished measurements of how wide and long? Kindest regards, Nancy :)
I just made this and it turned out so good ! I love it so much. One tip I would have is to put a stitch marker where you do the slip stitches so you don’t have to count. 💕 love this pattern so much ❤️
I’ve been crocheting ever since I was 8 yrs old. But have only recently branched out from scarfs and blankets. Will be attempting this pattern soon! Thank you 😀
I had a lot of fun crocheting this beanie with your pattern. I used a smaller hook, so it turned out a bit stiffer, and I also chained 31 in the beginning (so 22 Half double crochets and 9 slip Stiches for me). It only took three or four hours to create a very nice and useful piece! Thank you for that pattern!
I just made this beanie for my boyfriend. I followed along with your video but I changed out the yarn color every other row to make black and white stripes. It's a little messy since I have to tie them together but it still turned out great :) its so cozy. thank you for your video!
excellent clear instructions with directions on the video, perfect. Especially helpful is the shaping at the top of the hat. thanks for sharing this idea♥
i’ve been looking for a beanie pattern where the top of the hat doesn’t scrunch up all together bc i never like the way it looks so thank you for this!! your hat looks so nice i’m definitely going to try this
Just made this. “My experience no hate I appreciate this as a guide.” So if you have a large head 23” it’s going to be 36 rows. BUT I did the length of around 11 in or chain of 27 and it’s a perfect guy hat. Def should be longer for women unless you like the style of a shorter hat.
What an awesome video! Thank you for sharing. I had bought a bunch of wool ease on sale and this is the perfect project for it. I made 1 already. It was so easy to follow along and the pattern was relaxing. Thanks again 😊
Thank you so much! This beanie pattern is so good! And works up so quickly I’ve been able to watch Halloween movies and finish a beanie every movie! They’re looking so cute specially with a Pom Pom at the top! Plus it’s so easy to adjust to make it fit my family members heads!😂
I love this pattern!! This is my second project and this is so easy to follow and get the hang of after a slight learning curve! I am so excited to make more of these!
This exactly what we all needed! I definitely want to try this pattern soon because I've only ever loom knit beanies before 🧶🧶🧶 I love your videos & welcoming personality, Erin!
I have to try this one. I have not seen this technique with HDC and I prefer it to the slip stitch versions which have tried and not had success with them. I think my tension is too tight. lol Thanks for sharing. ❤
@@imogeninnit Hi! If you’re making a beanie for adults then it might be like a ball of yarn and a little bit of a second ball of yarn. I haven’t crocheted a beanie yet but I saw a comment of the creator saying that her first ball of yarn ran short so she used a second one to finish the beanie. If you’re making a beanie for toddlers then I think a ball of yarn should be fine! :D
@@imogeninnit i used the same yarn she used Lion Brand Wool Ease, 8mm crochet hook, same pattern as her, hat was for my boyfriend and it took one and a half or 3/4 balls of yarn. Second hat for me, smaller head, 6mm hook and it took one and 1/4 balls of yarn hope this helps :) im trying to figure out what i can make with the extra yarn
You can customize the amount of rows needed for your own head. As you add on rows, check to see if the first and last rows stretch to reach around your head, once it’s large enough you can seam it up ❤️
How would we adjust for different sizes? Do you have a formula used so I can calculate how many HDC and Slip stiches I need when I change the chain amount? I love this pattern so much and it took me a few times and i ended up switching to a lighter yarn while i learn the pattern so i can see better. Making my boyfriend one for christmas so for now im adjusting how many rows I do and hoping it fits with me measuring often.
Do you have a written pattern for diff size. You did 7. You start with 24. This could would not be constant. It’s relative. WC ch 30 would have diff number for the pattern.? Thanks
I have a question! When finished with row 2, do I chain 1 before starting row 3? I noticed you said to chain 1 before starting row 4, but I wasn't sure if row 3 needed a chain 1 beforehand. Thanks so much!
Erin, do you have any recommendations on an alternative way to close the top of the hat? The specific yarn I’m using gets stuck between the stitches and keeps ripping when I pull it. 😢
I always leave long tails to weave in because I'm worried about my work potentially coming undone. The long tail gives you wiggle room to repair it What a lovely hat 😊
mine somehow came out too short in length to do a flip cuff :/ not really sure what happened, my tension was good, and i used the right hook, and weight yarn..maybe my heads bigger or something lol
@@sunshinepumpkin23 i’d say just manually add a brim if you’ve already started the beanie. chain the length you want, and single crochet in the second chain from the hook all the way down, slip stitch in two stitches on the base of the hat, turn your work and then single crochet in the back loops only of the chain and that’ll creat a ribbed brim
This worked up so fast and looks so good! I made it with black to give my dad for Christmas. Definitely don't recommend using the black colorway of this yarn - it was so hard to see LOL
@itserinb OK, so this should have been mentioned in the description or something. I frogged mine, used tighter tension AND a smaller hook. Still not enough. So I said screw it and bought another skein.

Do you chain 1 at the end of each row?
If I wanted to start with more on the chain, should I use the same ratios, like 7 stitches before the end to slip stitch or should it be more?

You don’t necessarily have to do them but if you don’t your hat will be pretty bulky at the top when you close it up since it’s bulky/thick yarn
how many yards of yarn did you guys end up using? is 87 yards enough?
