🍁 since i forgot to put any helpful information in the description, I thought I would leave here some details of the cardigan! I apologize for not doing this sooner! also comment down below if you'd like a proper tutorial, so it'll be easier to understand the steps on how to make it ~ Yarn used: Mainstays 100% acrylic yarn and red heart 100% acrylic yarn. yarn is medium size 4 DK :) Grams used: 396 grams for each except the beige color, which was only 198 grams Hook size: 5mm crochet hook Square info: each square started with a chain of 22 stitches and continued making rows until i got to 5.5 inches. I'm sorry, i don't know how many rows i did for this ): Each square is 5.5 inches in width and 5.5 inches in length. Mainly everything was single crocheted. The ribbing and the cuffs were single crocheted into the back loops. The panels were slip stitched together. The process took over 60 hours to complete :o I stopped counting after, but it took so long because I was a beginner when making this video :) the more you crochet, the faster you get.
thank you so much! Honestly, i was going to give up because of the mistakes i kept making but i seriously wanted to at least try to finish it and i'm glad i did
"I decided to crochet an entire outfit" "Rad!" "So I started by learning how to crochet" "You WHAT" That's some incredible dedication! Major props to you, it looks awesome!!
Miss ma’am! I just started crocheting like a week ago and I’m already bored of scarves and blankets. I came on here to see how hard it would be to make a cardigan and seeing a fellow beginner making such a masterpiece inspired me! You’re really great at explaining something you’ve only just learned. Thank you so much queen 👸🏾
This would actually be priced at $1200+ if sold by a luxury brand like Dolce & Gabbana, LV, Diane V., etc. Great job! I'm subscribing just because I know that was A LOT of work and of course it's super cute.. looks great. It surprises how much crochet is under valued...but not by designers, they know no machine can create those stitches. Handmade is a luxury. PERIOD : ) : )
you SINGLE crocheted a whole cardigan as a beginner, woww im so proud😩 I’m a crocheter for almost ten years and I think I would rather die than crochet a cardigan with single crochet only☠️☠️ I would have found a way to use half double crochets or even extended half double crochets😂😂
hahaha it wasn't until after i finished the project that i learned about hdc & dc and how the project could've taken less time if I had just chosen one of those instead.
Honestly same but it would be a cleaner look and le less wind thru so I'd probably cave n do it too LMAO. I'm prepping to make a sweater for valentines day... I apparently have a death wish but were headed into another lockdown in my area so whatever bring on the insanity 🤪
Making such a large wearable as your first project! You should be so proud!!! I'd have torn my hair out attempting something like this as a beginner, this is extremely impressive. If you do keep up with the hobby I will assure you, it gets easier and less frustrating. And of course the lovely thing about crochet is, when you mess up you can just frog it and redo!
trust me, i almost did tear my hair out trying to figure out how to do this correctly 😅 but you're absolutely right! I crochet a lot faster now because of how much crocheting i had to do for this project and it taught me so much so that other projects seem less daunting now :)
i was quite a seasoned crocheter when i made one of these cardigans about 2 years ago. the planning process is REAL. at the time of me making my cardigan there were almost NO videos on youtube of people making them, it was just starting to get popular. i’ve come to this video because im about to make another one and i’m watching a bunch of videos to see what people have learned and discovered as this style spiked in popularity. you say in here that you didn’t weave in the ends on the inside and just tied them and i want to mention that i did the exact same thing, but put a dot of fabric glue on every knot and i don’t have a single loose end after 2 years of HEAVY wear on my sweater. great video, and congrats on such a successful project as a beginner.
I wouldn't change a thing! The chonky sleeves seem to be coming into fashion, so you are ahead of the trend! Very well done for a beginner! Make your tails longer so it is easier to weave in the ends, or use them for the sewing up.
I’ve been crocheting for 2 years. 2 YEARS, and I’ve only just started trying more ambitious projects like this (mostly only made amigurumi plush toys) and THIS was one of your first projects?! I’m super impressed and love how it turned out
I started my first square legitimately a year ago, gave up, and I’m back this fall with 30 more squares and I WILL be finishing this cardigan! Thank you.

So, here you are, just decided to figure out how to crochet and then created your own pattern, and made this really cool cardigan. Please continue to crochet, you have a real talent!!!
“You have to finish what you started for once!” Was exactly what I said when I started my 300 chain and 300 rows of granny stitch blanket! So far I’m on row 22 and props to you for being able to complete this despite being to my knowledge an absolute beginner?! Crazy!! Hope you continue your crochet adventure so the art of crochet will not die out just yet!!

Quite literally, this was the first video I'd ever seen by you and whenever I feel like I'm in a slump, I'll rewatch it. I grew up around a master crocheter who'd tried teaching me, but no matter how many times she'd showed me the stitches, I couldn't get it right and would give up. You and your videos helped me figure it out. And currently, I'm taking the plunge and making my own cardigan.
I was feeling depressed for last weeks, but your video was like a sunshine to me. You're so full of energy, cuteness and light, I got inspired from the start of video. Also, the cardigan is so cool, if I could do this one day I would be so happy. Thanks for your video and the energy boost I needed ♡
This is AMAZING!! This is my first video of yours and I already love your humor, your voice, your dog, and your skills!! Thank you so much for breaking it down in the beginning and for being honest about how annoying and physically painful it can be to do so much. WELL DONE on your first crochet project, especially such a massive one! You’ve definitely earned a subscriber here 😊
Been crocheting on and off for about 6-7 yrs now, and can I say this was outstanding for a beginner? Congrats on this project 👏 U did amazing. Great tutorial as well.
My aunt who crochets thinks I’m absolutely insane since I’m making a huge blanket (over 200 squares) with a 6mm hook and single crochets only. I just learned how to crochet 2 weeks ago so this has definitely made me a master at single crochet squares lmao
One minute into the video and i was already smiling so much, i loved the calm vibe of the video and it feels so much like fall??? And OMG YOU WERE A BEGINNER AND YOU DID THAT SO BEAUTIFULLY??!?! this is the final kick that'll make me start crocheting!!!
I got recomended this video on April and i immediately got into crochet because of it, my goal was to make this exact cardigan with crochet, i practiced doing scarves and mittens, but then i got into knitting and oh boy! Although i do like crochet stitches, i personally find stockinette stitch way more cute and fitting better on a sweater/cardigan, so recently i got my straight needles, practiced doing some projects that came out beautiful; I am ready! I bought the yarn! Its been only 2 weeks with me only having the time to knit on Sundays and i already have both front panels done, this is so fast! I'm so excited to have it done, its looking so cute so far!! Thank you for getting me into crochet and knitting, i didn't know i could like this so much nor i could do such cute wearable things with my hands, you're a great inspiration!
oh my god that cardigan is ADORABLE! i am in love with the colors you chose!! I've made plenty of amigurumi and I'm currently working on a blanket, but this video may be the push I need to actually start making clothing :))
Just a tip, if you’re having trouble with the hook or the other hand holding the yarn, mess around with it and hold them differently. I started holding the hook knife style and found out I suck at it and can only crochet now in pencil style. This is so beautiful! Looking to do it in a chunky yarn and I’m using this tutorial to figure out how to put it together!
This takes sooo much dedication and looking at the finished product? The hard work really paid off. I can't add anything other commenters havent already- but either way, great job!!!!
I started your pattern this year august. Im still in the process of making the squares! Hahaha i think i will finish it by november. I work full time and i have a toddler. So yeah. Making time to do this is a drag hahahaha
My mother once crochet a dress for me, I was 8 y-o when she started. By the time she finished I was 15 and in high school. Props to you, I'm impressed!
Great job! Yes the weaving in the ends takes a lot of time but you sew in the ends every time you finish a block it will help. It’s cleaning up your room .. if you put your dirty clothes in a basket each time you take it off you spend less time cleaning. I hope that helps. I like the over size sleeves.. .when it’s cold outside they will keep your hands warm. Happy crocheting!
"After 3 Disney Movies" I can sooo relate to that, lol, I've been painting on the back of my jean jackets Disney characters and actually on everything I can like shopping fabric bags and stuff and I do the same, I put on a Disney movie and start to work. Great job btw! you just inspired me to do something similar and have somthing to be distracted since I have severe panic attacks and anxiety disorder.
When I was a beginner (like 6 months ago) the first things I made were scrunchies and a bucket hat and they were so bad!😂😂 I am surprised you made A WHOLE CARDIGAN AS A BEGINNER! I am sitting on my bed also making a patchwork cardigan for the past week and I’m not even halfway! Wow you are so good
Don't know if you still crochet, but corner-to-corner is a great and quick way to whip up blankets. Even a queen size can be done in less than a month (I take lots of breaks) but baby blankets can be done in a day or two if you don't do much else.
Bruh whaaaaaat this is amazing! I've been crocheting for like 3 weeks and I have just made tiny amigurumi and some rectangles, you made a whole ass outfit, GAHT DAYUM! This is seriously impressive!
Lovely!!! You are so talented!! You inspired me to crochet cardigan too😍 Btw, may I asked what’s your height? ( as a reference for the size modification, thank you very much)
you've inspired me!! I've always wanted to make a cardigan for my sister. May i know how long it took you to make the cardigan? Cuz as a beginner that is really amazing that u managed to finished it! i couldn't even finish crocheting my bucket hat :(
Hii! Sorry if this info is already in the video (I can't find it 😭), but I wanted to ask what size all your squares were? It is such a lovely cardigan!!!
Such a great job! This is I how I assembled my first pieces. There are ways to connect as you go. Will be so fun to see what you create more. You did a great job.
I came across this video while I was watching multiple crochet vids as I was a beginner and wanted to make big projects such as clothes and accessories and this inspired me a lot :D
This is so cool!! I'm a beginner I guess, I've been crocheting here and there for about a year but I just crocheted this heart tote bag and I love it, it's really my first "big" project. The crocheting community is definitely the coolest of all the hobbies, Love your sweater jacket!
Pretty impressive. My wife learned to knit and crochet from RUclips videos. Also you sound like you may be the kindest soul on the planet. Cheers to continued success!

Don't know if you still crochet, but corner-to-corner is a great and quick way to whip up blankets. Even a queen size can be done in less than a month (I take lots of breaks) but baby blankets can be done in a day or two if you don't do much else.
I was never really into chrocheting but woooooow this looks absolutely fenominal.
your voice and the music made it so calming, thx !!
I love the aesthetic ❤️
I can't watch the video right now because I'm working but I'm a beginner and obsessed with this just based off the thumbnail. I can't wait.
love it ...so cute!!!
Bruh whaaaaaat this is amazing! I've been crocheting for like 3 weeks and I have just made tiny amigurumi and some rectangles, you made a whole ass outfit, GAHT DAYUM! This is seriously impressive!
Sooo cute I love it darling! Thanks for sharing
THE DESTROYING PART KILLED ME!!!!!! WHYYYYYYYYY WOULD YOU!!! IT WAS BOOTYFUL
Lovely!!! You are so talented!! You inspired me to crochet cardigan too😍
Btw, may I asked what’s your height? ( as a reference for the size modification, thank you very much)
thank you so much !
Your voice is so relaxing to listen to (Nothing weird) !! btw love the cardigan!
Woah- I don’t think I’d ever be able to do that I’ve never even held a crochet hook 😃 Good job!
You learned to crochet in a week 😭😭😭😭😭 I need that commitment and motivation
you've inspired me!! I've always wanted to make a cardigan for my sister. May i know how long it took you to make the cardigan? Cuz as a beginner that is really amazing that u managed to finished it! i couldn't even finish crocheting my bucket hat :(
for me it took me around 70+ hours, I started september 19th and finished october 8th
I gotta try this (haven't crochet a single thing in my life)
Hii! Sorry if this info is already in the video (I can't find it 😭), but I wanted to ask what size all your squares were? It is such a lovely cardigan!!!

Whoever you are, Jesus loves you
Wow.. Thank you Jesus & thank you for this comment. God never fails to amaze me
Such a great job!
The crocheting community is definitely the coolest of all the hobbies, Love your sweater jacket!
the fact u got the measurements and everything so well as a beginner....... mega mega impressive
I love the structure of the sweater
U inspired me after I wanna quit crochetting so bad lol. This turned out soooooo goood!!!!!
Pretty impressive. My wife learned to knit and crochet from RUclips videos. Also you sound like you may be the kindest soul on the planet. Cheers to continued success!
