Hell yeah konnan would had been good in wwe in the early 2000s with eddy Guerrero
Right, rey mysterio unmasked, billy kidman. The filthy animals
The Franchise Shane Douglas is seriously underrated. Listen to his ECW promos. He was being HHH yeaaaars beforehand.
Shawn Michaels said he was overrated
@@romans52345-cy3tq Shawn said a lot of things
Pizzahighfive they were good because he was allowed to swear
Even in WCW he was the only one in the New Blood who could actually cut a great promo.
Shane didn't cut promos he just gave out all he could do was shoot
Shane Douglas undeniably was an incredible technical wrestler.
Saturn has said Shane knew but that he had no leverage to get as good a deal as he had in WCW. Bischoff gave him stupid money when he didn't have to when he left ECW.
I like hearing good shit about Konnan! Well spoken as always JR!!
Konnan was awesome in WCW, and he still is today. I’m a big fan of his K100 podcast.
He was Terrible
@@grant1739 got me. My mind changed instantly when I read your comment.
@@grant1739 nah he was good
Konnan maybe most overrated wrestler in the history of the business. Don't believe me? What was your favorite konnan match? I'll wait...
@@noname-wz5ww Are you in Mexico? He wasn’t rated that highly in US tbh. In terms of Mexican wrestlers I know, he deserves a spot near the top.
Konnan is a made man outside wwe
Konan is a god in AAA and very respected in Japan. When they want Mexican and Latino talent in Japan he’s the guy they call
I’m out of the loop on this one, but I thought he was forced to retire from TNA due to kidney disease. Is he still working or is he more like a talent scout these days?
Florida Man talent scout broker he puts matches and shows together. I believe he still works with tna but as a consultant he brought in a lot of talent from AAA to lucha underground who are stars in wwe and aew now.

Are you roasting the frying grill?!!
Oh should it. You wwe creative guy's are so intelligent. How diversified of you
As a kid, max moon was awesome... him and blue blazer woulda been the coolest fantasy tag team of my childhood
Shane's admitted, he didn't go, because WCW offered him more money. He got a big gurantee from those marks
He didnt go because they didnt want him
I heard or read that his wages in WCW in around 1999/2000 were huge, crazy money,so I'm surprised he wanted to give that up to go to WWF.
Two very talented wrestlers Konnan and Shane Douglas who would be a great asset to any company
Then why arent they working?
@@jakelang806 Konnan appears sporadically on Impact and Douglas on MLW
Agreed. Had they been in the WWF during the Attitude era they could of become household names much like Godfather, Val Venis or a New Age Outlawz as they both could talk on the mic which was crucial to getting over in the WWF.
@@jakelang806I think Konnan would be good behind the scenes in WWE. Not sure he would be interested though. I think he is based in LA too. Long way from CT.
Konnan is really smart. May be some prejudice that made me think his heavy accent meant he wasnt as bright. I'm working on it. Anyhow, smart, funny, and a real man, he puts others over and has reached out to repair relationships that he may have been in the right on, but puts it aside. Much respect.
Smart like a snake, but dumb as fuck in real life.
Salute to good ole JR.
Konnan is my favorite wrestler of all time
Injuries had gotten the better of Shane by 99 he was basically done.
Konnan screwed himself over by sleeping with Tatanka's then wife in the early 90's. That's a huge taboo. Jarrett did the same thing in TNA.
I never heard about that. You got a video or a link?
@@pandavelli8176 not off hand. But you'll probably find it if you search for it. I remember it's sort of f**ked up because it totally ruined a marriage.
@@romansochacki7678 that had nothing to do with it at all. I Mean if it worked like that then Brock would been screwed as well. He just made more money not wrestling for WWE and keeping his WCW contract. Also Tatankas run was what about 5 yrs then he wasn’t seen again in WWF/E. Which his release was even before the WCW and WWF Monday night wars Tatanka was already gone. Tatanka run would be from like 88 to 93. By the time Vince bought WCW Tatanka had been gone for 3yr already.
Tatanka's run in the WWE were from 1991-1992 ( dark matches) 1993 to early 1996. Vince bought WCW and ECW in 2001 so by then he was gone for five years. So you're right about the part he had just missed the boat right before the Monday night war era took off.
Shane Douglas is brillant, in the ring and on the mic, he was screwed mainly Shawn Michaels in his Dean Douglas wwf run, would of loved to of seen him in the invasion angle or later on!! People like Douglas and Raven should definitely be writers or producers for a wrestling company
Bruce Pritchard blew off Konnan. Told him to send in some head shots lol.
Stooge Prichard is a proven conman, fraud and liar. Dave Meltzer and Jim Cornette have exposed and owned him multiple times.
@@MattSingh1 He definitely is. Tried to claim he didn't know him by the name Konnan. Total BS.
@@steveomac385 no, it was K-Dawg he didn't know him as.

Now that Triple H is in charge, it’s a matter of time before Konnan goes into the HoF, signs a legends deal, and gets added to their video games. Shane is a bit more complicated thanks to some statements he’s made.
Why does it feel like I'm watching a copy cat video of Val Venus? Instead of hotdogs grilling, it's a hamburger..lmao

Why would WWE even want Shane Douglas back even if he wasn't blacklisted.
He probably could have returned for the WWEs ECW brand but other than that he's not a major get.
He was already past his prime when WCW ended and he was never as great as what ECW made him out to be.
Shane douglas revolutionized the ecw company taking it from the woodshed, bingo hall minor leagues to the national stage as the quintessential figurehead making the ecw platform so all wrestlers after him can become stars. Shane Douglas was a legend in ECW if you check his body of work for his legendary fued with taz, his matches with bam bam Bigelow were great, and when he went 60 min with Sabu and Terry Funk in 94 in the time the line was crossed doing what no one else did in wrestling at that time for that match.
I used to always look forward to seeing Torrie Wilson 20 yrs ago but I didn't even realize she came out with Shane until a clip I saw yesterday of him vs Buff Bagwell
I’ve always thought Shane’s gripe about this was silly. He’s spoken about it and stated that when they went in together and guy asked for their release that he didn’t. He went back to Bill Busch without the other guys to apologize for the meeting and ensure Busch he didn’t want his release and didn’t know they were going to be asking for their release to cover his ass in WCW. He’s openly said he had no intention to leave the company so why would he be surprised or upset that those guys who did want to leave didn’t include him in on it? They asked for their releases and signed them because they wanted to leave. Shane didn’t want to leave and didn’t sign a release. So I guess his issue is that they didn’t tell him what they were planning to do? But why would they? He clearly wasn’t willing to risk his WCW spot or leave so he wasn’t on the same page as them so hiw do they include him in on something he doesn’t have the same plan as them to do? He has all these issues with it when he’s said he didn’t even want to leave so it’s hard to totally get why he was even upset about it outside of bruised ego if not being told maybe.
I like how JR pronounces "Carlos"
Man I would have love to see Konnan vs The Rock on the mic.
Love Konnan but Rock would destroy him and it isnt even close
@@Stizzfoshizz only way to know is to see the mic battle go down. Unfortunately we'll probably never know.

Top 5 what?
Good point here by good ole J.R.,since the likes of Shane Douglas,Konnan, and Jesse Ventura have been blacklisted by the WWE to the point that they won't be hired by AEW and NWA.
Jesse deserves to be blacklisted.
He’s been stealing valor for over 40 years and is a flat out conspiracy theorist. You ever wonder why every tv show he’s ever had ended up being canned really quick?
I didn't hear that Jesse Ventura was blacklisted by WWE
JR is making excuses for the WWE. If both of these gentlemen were so intelligent and talented, then what gives? Why didn't the WWE seek them out? How much did Vince play in their fate? We all know JR is and always will be a WWE guy.
100% true. On Shane's podcast there's a episode about his 6 month stay in the wwf under the dean character. Shane tells a story on how he was doing vignettes for the dean character and after finally finishing all of them the last vignette he decides to deliver as the franchise. Vince McMahon was out of the room before he could get his response, so shane douglas asked JR, Micheal heyes and other agents what they thought of his franchise delivery. Shane said JR and everybody else said the loved it and thought it was genius. When Vince walks back into the room from his phone call Shane ask him about what he thought and Vince said that his delivery as the franchise sucked. Vince than asked JR and everyone else if he was right and they all agreed with Vince even though 5 minutes prior they sided with Shane. Shane would say that was the moment he knew that JR was nothing but a yes man and that the wwf was full of bullshit. JR is respectable for his contributions to the business but he will always be Vince and the wwe's yes man.

Oh here we go again HHH stole the gimmick what a load of shit.
I don't think it was bad advice on Shane's lawyer's part. He was nearing 40 years old at this point and was not the wrestler he once was in ECW. The WCW contract was guaranteed and likely ended up making him more than he would have gotten from WWE, even with the bonuses in the end. Benoit and Guerrero made out really well in the end and they were once in a generation type talents. Malenko and Saturn probably ended up making less money.

Konnan yes Shane no unless you consider. That The Game gimmick is better less belligerent version of the Franchise one
Hhh ripped off the franchise gimmick from Shane Douglas from ecw 94 to 99 in wwf 99 yet hhh was a cheap, carbon copy of the franchise. Hhh ripped off Shanes promo work word for word at times, watered-down muscular physique, vulgarity, the female vallet as Shane had Francine in ecw hhh had a wannabe Francine in stephanie in wwf, speech cadences, physical mannerisms. Shane did it better than that non talent hack hhh.

I was never impressed with Shane. Ever.
Agree. Him and Jeff Jarett were guys who were career mid carders who thought in their head they were main eventers.
Shane was a great promo. Too bad he's injury prone.
Don't hate on jeff jarrett too much. He was the bedrock that tna needed to build a foundation on before the bigger and better talent took it to another level. A lot of talent got their first start around that time.
I WAS. He was good when he was wit Steamboat and even better when he was in ECW
That burger is frying, not grilling.
Listen lady, who gives a damn.
If anyone should be blacklisted from wrestling, it's the Kliq. Shane Douglas and Konnan could actually wrestle and do promos.
Shane Douglas had a good look, but I never saw him do anything impressive in the ring, and his promos were always the stereotype of the big angry guy yelling a lot. I ALWAYS felt like I was watching a guy playing a wrestler rather than seeming natural and believable.
It’s cool to be wrong.
Let’s face it.. WWE was not interested in either guy at this point.. especially Konnan.. they can live with Douglas but Konnan just got invited to a seat at the game lol
After that HOF Rey Mysterio speech, I think they could use him again.
The part that doesn’t make sense is he was obviously free in subsequent years and he was never brought back, nor was he brought back for the ECW One Night Stand PPVs or the ECW revival in any capacity.
Wasn't he working for TNA then?
Guy Incognito To you and everchosen, we’re talking about a span of 2000-2005. I seriously doubt Douglas was under a big money exclusive contract that entire time and there were points when WWF could’ve signed him if they wanted.
Like I said, “he was obviously free in subsequent years.” Are you guys disputing Douglas was never available between 2000-2005?
Guy Incognito Yeah because Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and Sandman were spring chickens. Gotta get young talent over at ONE NIGHT Stand. Because that show definitely wasn’t about ONE NIGHT. It was about building for the future of ECW.
Doesn't anyone remember that Konan was Max Moon?
Triple H was literally a rip off of Shane in Ecw....its embarrassing how much he ripped Shane off.
Looks like it. But JR makes a lot of sense here.

Shane Douglas and Jeff Jarrett are the same person. Barely mid carders who believe they are legends in their own mind and were held back from some kind of conspiracy otherwise they would’ve been as big as Hogan in the 80s
Konnan may be smart, but his in ring work and promos were dull, dull, and more dull. Maybe he would be good behind the scenes.
ShadowAngel, he didn’t suck in WCW until they forced him to lose his mask and play a thug. Even then he had heat with the fans. He was incredibly over in WCW!

Oh my god, Conrad! You need to let this go already. Shane Douglas is so overrated. He was never over anywhere else other than ECW. Being over in ECW isn't the same as saying he was over like Sting was in WCW. ECW's largest crowds were WCW's smallest crowds in 1997. Shane was average in the ring and the quality of his promos are also overrated. It takes zero talent to cut shoot promos and even less talent when most of them were delivered by screaming and ranting. Please move on Conrad. Van Dam was the most successful because he was great. Shane would have flopped again in the WWE.
I doubt anybody would care, he’d get no reaction, and if people are honest with themselves outside of ECW, he wasn’t successful
He would’ve gotten a good reaction at one night stand.
Patrick Booth my point exactly, if it ain’t ECW, then he’s getting little to no reaction
baldylocks2009 right but bringing him back for one night stand would have a good opportunity for Shane and for the ecw show.
Patrick Booth I agree, but that’s not the point I was making, I already said that if it’s ECW related then he’ll get a reaction, but outside of that nobody would care, he wasn’t over anywhere else

Ok, when are people gonna finally admit Douglas sucked. Seriously, he was mediocre at best. In the ring, on the mic, personality etc., just mediocre. He (and some of his fans) wants to act like he got held back by others, and maybe there could've been some of that, but bottom line, if he was one of the all time greats, nobody could've held him back cause he would've overcame all that.
