I went right home and fixed this for dinner! 😊 I'm gluten free so I used brown rice flour plus I was rough chopping and eyeballing it, so it was a little thick, but was still scrumptious! Thanks!

I remember hiking the island of Ulung-do (my favorite place in Korea). My friends and I had yachaejeon in a tiny village restaurant. It was sooo delicious! We complimented the cook as we paid our bill. She said, Wait a moment, and ran back to the kitchen. A few minutes later she emerged with a nicely wrapped package of yachaejeon to take on our journey. No charge. A beautiful memory.

    Hi Maangchi
I am from India & live in the southern part of the the country......we have a similar receipe over here..... called VEGETABLE UTHAPPAM...... but instead of all purpose flour we use a ground batter made of rice & lentils......add as much as veggies as possible......& make something called chutney as side dish......
I am surprised at the similarities between our types of cooking 🤩🤩

For those who love cornbread with their veggies, I make veggie fritters. I mostly use already cooked leftovers, but fresh veggies are also fine. I just mix enough self-rising cornmeal with the veggies til it's a thick batter, water if too dry, then shape into small pancakes. Cook in olive oil til brown and crisp. Yum!.

Great recipe Maangchi!!!! ❤💛💚 Quadrupled the recipie and used every vegetable we had: zucchini, carrot, white onion, mushroom, red pepper, cabbage, green onion, chives, and also put in a bit of garlic. Used 1/3 less water, because I put in so much cabbage and red pepper, which were both going to water down the batter. Made smaller pancakes and dipped in szechuan sauce. They turned out soooooo tasty, definitely going to make this again soon. Yum!!!

I made this today 😋! This is my 3rd time making this dish. I love it so much🥰. I usually eat lunch at work with my friends. We like to share our food and just have a relaxing lunch. Because of the pandemic, we currently work at home online. I ate my pancake with a tiny crack 💔 in my heart. To me, food is more enjoyable when we can share and eat with others and have peace in our hearts. I shared a picture of my pancake with my friends and family. They kept asking me for the recipe 😅, so I shared this video with all of them. Thank you Maangchi for such awesome recipes!

Update 2: This recipe has become a regular here, we do it for snacks, for dinner... Lately I'm suspicious I've developed a mild gluten intolerance 😭 so I tried to adapt it, I'm very satisfied with the result and I'd like to share: For a gluten free version, I've been making it with 4 or 5 cups of vegetables (sweet potato, carrots, cabbage, pumpkin and green onions are my favorites), a cup of corn starch, and 1/5 of a cup of water, in my opinion, it's lighter. (I haven't tried it without the egg for a vegan version, but I guess it might work too). Thank yoooou, Maangchi! 💜
Made it for the second time this week, my family loved it! 💕 I've used cabbage, carrot, onion and collard greens, today I added sweet potato too and it was delicious! (healthy and filling, much love for this recipe, thank you so much for sharing this gem). I make smaller ones so it´s very easy to flip. (usually two at the same time on the same skillet).

If you didn't eat much vegetables before it might be that your bowels react badly to the vegetable/s or mushrooms in the recipe. Might be worth it to google "IBS fodmap" if the gluten free doesn't seem to help.

I just made this and it's SO GOOD!! Such an easy recipe with amazing flavor. I used brown rice flour so that it was gluten free and it worked perfectly. Today I fried up the leftovers, chopped them up into bit sized pieces and added it to rice, along with the sauce, and made fried rice, AND IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

It may be just me but LOVE you use the stems of the mushrooms. Small details matter in not wasting. Many American recipes and TV cooking shows say not to use stems cause they are woody. Not true! Thank you for showing it's ok to eat them! Except shitake stems!

Dear lady! You have succeeded in actually making me make a recipe from a video for the first time in my life! 😁😳❤️ I made Yachaejeon with dipping sauce!
I would like to offer some feedback for all you people out there who might want to try this! I did a bunch of things wrong and it was a horrible gloppy mess the first time. it was inedible. Here is my little case history from Eastern NC USA ❤️
Number one do not use white potato instead of sweet potato! It turns into a gloopy glop. 🤤Number two use all the required flour. maybe you can use a little less but I could not make it work at one quarter cup as somebody else said. I would like to try gluten free whole wheat organic flour. Third thing the pancake absolutely must be as thin as possible to be crisp. Fourth thing add the mushroom slices after the first side cooks for a minute. she says this but it's almost like haha, no this is important. Everything else takes time to cook, the mushrooms do not and once you put them on the upside when downside one is frying then you turn it over and downside to gets the fry and it gives it a meat like appearance just as she says. you don't want to burn them you want them perfect and they add that gorgeous Browned appearance that makes it so enticing to eat. Like she said it looks like thin pieces of meat and I think they taste like that.

I've always struggled with making vegetable pancakes, thank you for the simple explanation! I grew up in a community with strong ties to Korean culture (although I'm not Korean) and this reminds me of the food that some of the women would make for events. I'm so happy to be able to replicate it.
