@@scorpy2643 u can carry tanks of gas or would u rather carry solar panel or gas generator trying to charge this thing for a week? any off road vehicle is better suited as pure combustion or hybrid.
For those in CA or Washington, a $50,000 (mostly) American-made EV will be $38,500 after Federal & State discounts either at signing or rebate(s). This will also be the price at which a 3 year lease will be based on. Some EVs are up to 35% off to buy, lease, or finance. My $40,000 Kia Niro EV was $28,000 after $12,000 off from federal & state rebates, applied at dealership.
No federal tax credit on the mach-e this year 😕. Too expensive for any of the existing WA credits. The low income credit might apply in August but you'll have probably have to get someone that qualifies to buy it for you (or if you qualify you probably shouldn't be buying this unless you're basically retired with substantial savings and not claiming much income).
I've owned four different mustangs not including the Mach E GT that I currently own. I completely agree with you. The Mach E is a great car and I think it's good enough to stand on its without needing to lean on the mustang name.
8:10 Be careful about using the phrase "Rally World Championship car". That suggests that the Mach-E has actually competed in a World Rally Championship event of some sort. My understanding is that this is inspired by World Championship Rally cars and may have the suspension tuning that it could actually be driven like a WRC rally car. Remember, there are some people who take this kind of thing seriously.
Anyone else really miss the Focus RS? imagine if they had put a mild (performance oriented) hybrid in a Focus RS added the OZ wheels and some auxiliary lights up front - they likely could have charged the same as this EV.... I guess we're watching the future unfold here - eventually you won't hear the rally cars until one t-bones a tree when if flies off course....
Seems like it might be pretty fun. Curious what the Rivian R3X will be like - assuming it actually happens. Something like this would be great for driving in any mountain state.
Thank you - just when I thought most of the TFL content was out of the awkward "cringe" phase they go and do stuff like that... I have no doubt that most of the TFL folks know what they're talking about but every once in a while they show they're out of their depth. Still worth watching but c'mon guys at least flash up on the screen with "* we know it's pronounced oh - zee *"
Inappropriate comment: Roman, crank up your potassium level.. Use “no salt” salt substitute. Once you’ve done that, crank up your magnesium levels with a good supplement. Then get off processed carbs including booze. Your back will thank you.
Major problem with the mustang's trunk. There is NO drain. Any rain water that get in there stays. The trunk is slopped so any water run forward on to the car floor.
While I agree Ford should have just went with Mach-e without Mustang…it’s been four years. Does every YT comment have to point out this is not a Mustang??Get over it. It’s not a Mustang, everyone knows it. Move on.
Nope - keep it up I say.... I won't call it a Mustang and I think it's a very good car too. If I were to buy one one of the first changes would be to remove the pony logo(s). I think you could do quite well by making replacement badges. I know there's some legitimate issues with this car too - the reviewers with some exception don't see the issues because they're not living with this car longer term. Still though it's a very good first attempt by Ford - IMO it should be selling better and more successful than it is - perhaps it's the name ;-) All that said - I'm really considering replacing my wife's car with one of these in the green color and bronze package in a couple of years - hopefully the color is still available and replacement pony badges are too...
@ffl2609 Not to mention, Taurus definitely has name recognition. It could have been offered in both sedan and wagon/hatchback, and no one would have raised a fuss.
With this battery pack you'll get maybe 70 miles flooring it offloading... they should option a piggyback battery, just like on E mountain bikes, so you can drive back to the closest charging station. Otherwise it's awesome.
No hate from me. There’s a butt for every seat and if that’s the crank that cranks someone’s tractor, good on them. Quite an interesting vehicle. Hat’s off to FORD for pushing the market’s limits.
pushing the market..... right off of a cliff - they've pushed the market into not selling cars anymore (trucks and SUVs/Crossovers except for the Mustang). I've been a "Ford guy" for more than 30 years but I don't own one today. I will give them this: The Mach E (I won't call it a Mustang) GT in that green with the bronze appearance package is something I would strongly consider to replace my wife's car when we're due for a new ride. I guess I'm just old man yelling at clouds....
This is far from the first electric rally car. Go watch Nitro Rallycross. They've been using one for a while now. That being said, I think this Mach E is pretty cool.
Roman I like the enthusiasm you show for Rally Racing. But you seem to lack knowledge of it. First Ford still runs a team for WRC (M-Sport Ford World Rally Team). You will find several Fiesta WRC cars running in the ARA (American Rally Association). I suggest you go to the Rally Colorado July 20-21 in Rangely Colorado. There you can see what true rally cars look like because this Mustang/Mach-E is certainly not one. The 40/60 (Front/Rear) came out of the Group B Rally Car Era (1982-1986). The only factory performance car with the ability to bias 40/60 that I am aware is the Subaru STI. If anybody knows of others, please let me know. I always like to expand my knowledge base.
If ford would have just called this vehicle an “E”scort. Make the E a different color. These would be better received, but by putting mustang on a non sporting car it was DOA.
@Chett_Manly Some sarcasm I guess. I witnessed the introduction of Honda, Hyundai, Kia and others into the US market and they built a foundation and survived by focusing on the mass market first. Then, once established, they extended into the luxury and sport markets. The entire EV approach has been the opposite. Battery prices will only come down through volume sales and production.
