    It was necessary for EV prices to come down. Early adoption has been saturated. The mainstream phase has begun which means price parity with other gas cars and more affordable options.

    If you use one pedal driving, you need to turn it off and use the brakes once in a while to scrub the rotors. Also, the front brakes do most of the work, so the back brakes don’t do much at all on the Mach-E unless you really smash the brakes.

  • @b286guy

    Rust buildup on rotors is also somewhat common on EVs that either aren’t driven much or haven’t had much use of the friction brakes for a long period.

      @@bigmacdaddy1234 Yes, but on EVs, there are situations where regen is 100% of the braking force needed to slow the vehicle and the friction brakes don’t engage at all. That’s not the case with ICE vehicles.

    • @wzDH106
      @wzDH106 Год назад

      I noticed the GM Volt didn't have this rust buildup problem, despite living in Minnesota. I'm assuming a well tuned brake/regen system will always use friction braking down at lower speeds. Volt regen was just as aggressive as other BEVs we've owned. Or it could be more resilient materials, an interesting observation nonetheless. The Kia Niro BEV rusted all four rotors the moment we took it home.

      @@b286guy Rust build up isn’t an issue. To regulate that, car washing is also necessary for ANY vehicle. If you’re not washing the vehicle regularly, then you’re not removing the deposits/grime off the rotors. Pretty common logic.

    Another nice update on the Mustang Mach-E. My auto wipers have worked great. I guess I would have to see what yours are doing to see if how big of an issue it is. The brake pad issue is definitely out of the normal. I haven't seen that issue before on the Mach-E forum or in my own experience. But I also put over 20,000 miles in my Mach-E in a year 😅. I totally would have understood your hesitation to get the Mach-E standard range if you knew about the max charge speed. Once again, glad it hasn't been an issue. I know Ford push out an update to fix the high voltage junction box issue but that is the one thing I'm still somewhat concerned about on my Mustang. I don't push mine too hard but I really wish Ford did a proper part replacement for them just in case.

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the feedback on the wipers! Maybe it's just ours then. That's impressive that you do 20k+ miles a year in yours! It looks like the NHTSA is investigating the fix so hopefully Ford does a proper part replacement for yours. Thankfully ours I think just barely made the cutoff for the new box since ours completed production in June and the recall only goes into May.

  • @michaelgonda962

    Anyone purchasing a car expecting it to maintain or increase value is in for a big surprise. That's not an issue related to EVs specifically. Yes, the used prices for EV's are down but part of that is related to how fast the technology is changing. Either way, cars hardly ever increase in value over time.
    We are about to turn in our EV off of lease and will probably purchase a Mach-E this round instead of going with another lease because we plan on keeping it long-term (10 years plus with any luck). The resale value isn't a negative in my eyes but maybe that's just my specific use case.
    Anyway, great review. Thanks for posting this.

    The Mach-E is really cool for sure. I think it’s a really good vehicle for now, but I’d be a little concerned that when there are more electric vehicles there won’t be enough infrastructure to reliably be able to drive long distances as there won’t be enough charging stations to fill the demand.

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  Год назад +6

      Thousands of new charging stations are coming online every year, and with the recent slowing of EV demand, I don't think charging will have a problem keeping up with EV sales at the current rate.

    How time flies! Weve had our First Edition Mach-E for 2.5 years now, still soing great, but I totally feel you on thr CarPlay thing. I was watching a RUclips video on my phone in my office today when my husband left the house to run errands, my video suddenly cut out and I realized it was cuz my phone was connecting to the car even though he was SITTING IN IT 😆. I've actually used the voice feedback option in the car to leave feedback asking for a default/priority phone setting. You should do the same. Maybe one day in 2025 they'll get to it...2.5 years in and theyre still working on Dog Mode so im not holding my breath haha. We also did Ford Options but honestly there's nothing else out there that I want that's better than the Mach-E, and prices are so much higher now for new EVs than they were a few yeara ago (after incentives we only paid $45k for ours) that we may just buy out the options balloon payment and keep it a few more years.

The exact same thing happens with VW where it will chose a second phone even if it's nowhere near the car & your are correct, there isn't a way to say who's primary or secondary, at least none that I've found. The easiest way to clear it out is to plug it in then the next time you get in it should pick it right up. The part where the manufactures need to improve is to be able to select which is the primary, secondary and so on.

Enjoy the drive better in a Mach E but the software can use some refinement. If history is to show, Ford will likely not do much past the introduction of their next iteration

    Great review Matt good to see these. Having had it and all as an owner gives the insight. I think you should get the new Landcruiser for safety of your family. Your precious daughter and wife will love it, can do road trips and will hold value (we hope). I’m keeping my 2021 Landcruiser Heritage edition however 😊

      The new Land Cruiser is cool, but the Mach-E gets top safety marks and is 5,000 lbs, so I'm very happy with it's safety for the family :)

    I still remember where I was when you said you got a Mach E. It was a stab in the back for the gearbox community. Still heartbroken about it. 😁 but foreal there are so many better options out there. Ford has been going downhill with quality and customer satisfaction

    CARS ARE USE ITEMS SO THERE WILL ALWAYS BE "CHECK UP'S". REGARDLESS OF YOUR DRIVING STYLE OR LOCATION, ITS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO INSPECT YOUR VEHICLES CONDITION AS IT NOT ONLY FOR YOUR SAFETY BUT EVERYONE ELSES AS WELL. LONG LIVE I.C.E. ENGINES AND CAR ENTHUSIASTS NEED TO PUSH FOR HYDROGEN..WITH HYDROGEN WE GET TO KEEP ALL WE LOVE ABOUT CARS ALL WITHOUT GREENHOUSE GASES.

    Drum brakes are probably a logical transition for rear EV wheels, despite the cosmetic regression.

    • @randyXLT
      @randyXLT 11 месяцев назад

      Whether you have drum or rotor, brakes is not that relevant whether it’s a gas or EV. Sure they might not be used as much on an EV but the tolerance for the brake pads against the rotors is so small that you don’t need to press the brakes just to clean rust off.

    The drop in value is the economy, not Ford. You overpaid for it a year ago, everyone who purchased a vehicle (myself included). It is what it is. Nothing you can do about it.

    • @LeadfootLou

      The value of EVs in general has dropped quite a bit more than gas engine cars. This is mostly due to Tesla dropping the price on their vehicles by 33 percent.

    • @Annette_Hons
      @Annette_Hons 6 месяцев назад

      @@LeadfootLou it has NOTHING to do with Tesla, but everything to do with the economy in general. No car holds its value, this is nothing new. People has to jump on the train and buy EV’s when the prices were insanely high, thats the price you pay when you don’t pay attention to the economy. In some cases some people need to purchase a vehicle at an in opportune time, but most of these RUclipsrs had to jump on the bandwagon and buy a vehicle at over inflated prices so they could make videos, and now look….. EV values have crashed. For them though, they made a buck or two on RUclips, so that should counteract their decrease in value.

  • @tkelly5422

  • @Annette_Hons

    Why do people who barely drive buy electric to begin with? Makes zero financial sense whatsoever. If you are barely driving, you are barely using gas, so how is an electric vehicle benefiting you in any way? Realistically it’s not. You paid more for and EV, you pay more for insurance, you pay more to register the car in your state. So you aren’t paying for gas, is it really worth paying more for everything else just so you’d an say look at us we have an EV? Oh wait, you’ll say you don’t have maintenance costs, well there is that, but then again if you aren’t driving your ICE vehicle you don’t have the maintenance costs either.

      My best friend has a Tesla for the past four years. He had three recalls of different things and at least three other times they’ve had to come to his house to repair things. Just because Tesla was the first doesn’t mean it’s better than everybody else’s brand.
