    If motorcycles didn't exist at this point in time and someone invented one now today, the concept would never be approved because of our super safety environment today. I thank our pioneers for our freedom to ride. Great thought vid.

      I agree, here in South Australia they are decreasing the speed limits constantly, but the road toll keeps increasing. So something isn’t working. I too am pleased that we are free to ride, I sure we will be able to continue to do so. Both car and motorcycle uses just need to ride and drive to the conditions. They won't ban motorcycles but more and more restrictions will happen. Germany already has some roads motorcycles are banned from on certain days.
    Tracking tech, reduced speed limits and more camera monitoring is all coming soon. They won't ban motorcycles but they will suck every bit of joy out of riding them in the name of safety.

      High level of service ie throughput is positively correlated with wide roads in good condition, while low level of service is correlated with narrow roads in poor condition. And the higher level of service means high speed wrecks. Roads in poor condition thus reduce wrecks.
      That means speed bums (which crummy roads essentially are) make your roads safer not more dangerous. Taken to the extreme, a dirt/gravel road with deep ruts will have virtually no fatalities.
      This should be obvious!

    • @MRTPR
      @MRTPR  7 месяцев назад

      Hello mate I can see your point that the better the road the higher the speed which can lead to higher fatalities, this is true. However there are speed limits which are set for these roads which are beamed appropriate. In Adelaide the road limits have been reduced dramatically, yet the road toll has increased. Crashes on all roads whether they are well maintained or not are often due to the operator of the vehicle not the road. As has been the case here. A well maintained road when used appropriately is safer than a poorly maintained road. At 60 KM’S an unexpected pot hole around a blind corner can be devastating for a motorcyclist if there front wheel enters the hole. My point is if you ride at the posted speed limit or to the conditions you are less likely to have a crash. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it. I hope that you have had a great Christmas and stay safe out there. 😎

    Here in parts of the US the riders with the loud exhausts have caused local areas in some places to make "no wake zones". This was done because the people living in neighborhoods near bike events like Daytona got fed up with all the noise.

    "If we were to ban motorcycles then we'd also need to ban cars and other dangerous vehicles." I mean, you almost got that right. You were so close. Yes, banning private automobiles (and possibly motorcycles) is indeed a great idea from an economic, health, and social viewpoint.
    Exhibit A: an automobile is the second biggest expense most households have, and for most people it requires a loan regardless of new or used vehicles.
    Exhibit B: biggest source of pollution (CO2 and particulate emissions) in the G12 counties.
    Exhibit C: biggest cause of traumatic deaths in all countries except the US (gun deaths including suicides are number 1 in the US).
    Exhibit D: biggest cause of hospital visits due to trauma in the G12 countries.
    Exhibit E: usually but not always the biggest local tax expense of building roads and parking lots. Your local government goes broke trying to finance all that car infrastructure.
    In my opinion, as your country's financial advisor, automobiles should indeed be banned, immediately and without hesitation, as they're just too expensive. And in places where automobiles are banned, peoples' and local business' income goes up while expenses goes down...in this case correlation is causation.
    As for motorcycles being banned...maybe. Probably not, as motorcyclists pay more in taxes than the wear and tear they cause on roads (while requiring virtually no parking), but motorcyclists are also irritatingly loud as they universally put noise-makers on their vehicles. If you insist on being loud in the library, then don't whine when you get thrown out of the library and permanently banned from reentering. Serves you right.
    The EV versus IC argument in regards to motorcycles is pointless. It's meaningless because motorcycles get 45 mpg.

    • @MRTPR
      @MRTPR  7 месяцев назад

      Hello mate thank you for your input. You really do make some excellent points. I honestly have never looked at it this way, although trying to ban all private vehicles would be impossible and practically I really can’t see how it would work. We have become so reliant on our own private transport. Governments would have to step up on affordable public transport. Here in South Australia, there is a lot of work to be done here. Thank-you for dropping and taking the time to comment. Have a great Christmas and new year 🎅

    • @langhamp8912
      @langhamp8912 7 месяцев назад

      @@MRTPR When confronted with a problem, there's outcomes and there's solutions. Driving is expensive and people are increasingly unable to afford to yet they drive anyway. Thus the question becomes, "at what point can I no longer drive?" There's all sorts of inventive financial tools to get you into a car yet even with a 72 month loan drivers are still unable to consider and fund alternative forms of transportation.
      And governments aren't any better; they go into debt in order to build the roads and parking lots that their constituents demand.
      The 20th and 21st century is, from a financial viewpoint, very much the age of debt; vehicles financed by personal debt driving on roads financed by public debt.
      That's the true road toll; not the figurative one caused by wrecks but the literal one caused by spending beyond one's means.

    BAN ALL THE MOTORBIKES FROM THE ROAD! Did that get someone's attention? What the Devil is this, I'm viewer 666! How Beastly! Right you hit upon a key word there Awareness. What we need is more training on how to look around us, so many drivers and riders come to that, simply drive ahead without taking into account the surroundings in which they are driving or riding, or indeed who or what is around them and could come into conflict with them. Another one you mentioned is it's not the car but the operator, or something like that, well this is why some manufacturers are trying to remove the driver from operating the car. Also as cars become easier to drive with some taking over minor functions already, you can see lots more drivers doing other things, namely watching stuff on their tablets or phones. For instance our car already, will brake for you in case you 'forget' dips the lights independently of one another, a great feature by the way as the verge light stays up but pointing away from oncoming cars. Slows for speed limited areas and dips the lights too at the speed limit sign at night, then speeds up again and puts the lights up again as you leave. As both you and me are older motorcyclists we have a wealth of experience to help keep us safe, but it's the younger inexperienced ones that need the training, and I'm including those born again bikers or bikers who have not ridden in years but have come back to motorbikes with a lifetimes worth of bad habits from car driving, we have had several middle aged riders die in this area alone and we are a rural area of the UK. A Happy New Year to you and yours, ride safe and happy.

      I was worried about putting this one up as I didn’t want it to be the click bait type video , but it was being talked about on the radio. This was on a talk back radio station , where a member of the public suggested banning motorcycles,it is due to the terrible rod toll (double for motorcyclists ) up on last year. The car road toll is also up. The radio station then ran with idea instead of just dismissing it. The speed limits have been reduced, speeding fines have increased, red light and speed cameras are everywhere, yet the road toll continues to increase. This leaves the operator of the vehicle. I see so many people on their screens whilst driving. The increased technology is also meant to reduce accidents and a high road toll. These advances although very good and I appreciate them in my car hasn’t worked either. It really can only leave the operator of the vehicle. Mate really do appreciate your comments, I can see the thought you put into them and I truly appreciate it. I hope you had a good Christmas and I hope you have nice new years. Stay safe out there 😎

    The speed argument is extremely flawed. I am seeing more and more accidents due to road conditions and fatigue. But it is easy to blame speed as the government loves the revenue stream from speeding fines.

      Correct mate, I certainly had my fair share of mishaps in my younger years. My wife may argue that my brain still hasn't fully developed, even at the ripe old age of 58 🤣

    It's not a controversial topic at all.. The answer is a resounding NO, bikes should NEVER be banned ANYWHERE..

      I wholeheartedly agree mate. I was just perplexed when I heard them discussing the possibility on the radio when the road toll for cars is just as bad. Why not ban the cars as well then, a ridiculous suggestion, in my opinion. Thank you for your input, I appreciate the comment. Have a safe new year 😎

    stock answer: no. Let's talk about exploding electric vehicles instead?
