      If you have Instagram, check this out: instagram.com/p/CVBe3qYB7S-/ ....as this guy uses his with powerblocks. (I'm not sure of the model he has or If he had to do anything special in order to make them work but he's using his hooks with powerblocks)

  • @jasontillman6523
    @jasontillman6523 2 года назад

    Purchased these but I found that the hooks flip backwards after unhooking them initially. I then have to maneuver my hands so that the hook gets back up on top and I can rehook them. Wish they would stay up so I don't have to fret about getting them reattached after my set. The neoprene cover doesn't hold these. (Used on loadable dumbbells). I can also attest that they don't work with Powerblocks.

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 года назад

      Oh no!! I've stopped using mine with the neoprene simply because I find it easier to keep the hooks oriented correctly (you might try that if you haven't already). Sorry to hear they don't work with powerblocks! That's a bummer!

    What happens if you fail on these and have to drop them?

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 года назад +1

      DON'T FAIL!! 😂..Such a good question that I should have addressed in the video 🤦‍♂️. From my experience, nothing happens. The hooks remain attached just kinda flop out of the way. You'd have to drop them in such a particular way in order to potentially damage them, and even then I still think the hooks would swivel out of the way due to they aren't fixed tight in the handles.

    • @erisd8452

    The question is also durability of the neoprene grips. Has the company stated how long these are expected to last? Neoprene isn't known for being all that durable.

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 года назад +1

      Good point. I've honestly stopped using the wraps altogether...ACTUALLY...I've stopped using this spotter in general since they released their Pro version. Such a better design IMO

    • @mikeb9396
      @mikeb9396 2 года назад

      @@MattPendergraph I might have to give the pro version a whirl. I have to be extremely careful throwing dumbbells into position. I lost count of the number of times I’ve injured my shoulders when the dumbbells didn’t make it to the proper position.

      @@MattPendergraph it really is just the size of them. They're a bit more narrow, they hang down the same as the others, and the quality is still great. I was surprised how well they fit because the grip on the 1090s are a little awkward. But they fit perfectly.

    These are a bit of a silly price for what they do. I tried looking on line for a set of S hooks that are strong enough to do the same job - ultimately, I wouldnt want mess about trying to hook these back at the end of a set. So, I would only need something to hold the dumbells in the starting position. Sadly, I couldnt find any S hooks big enough and strong enough. Industrial meathooks look like they might work, but tend to have rather nasty points on them.

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 года назад +1

      I think the price is very reasonable (especially considering the alternatives on the market plus they're even cheaper after using the 10% code) Unfortunately I've purchased gym equipment for double the price and gotten less use out of it!! LOL. Seriously, overall I'm happy with mine!

  • @ted6580
    @ted6580 2 года назад

    Might make sense for higher rep exercises but the neoprene seems unwieldy when getting closer to your max weights. Using a barbell to bench with dumbbells attached is brilliant though and replicates the variable strength curve for Prime Fitness machines and the Transformer Bar from Kabuki for squats. If I get these for that purpose alone, I’ll use your code.

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 года назад

      So the cool thing is (and I didn't talk about it in the video) you DON'T have to use the neoprene cover (I think they probably want you to for safety reasons as they obviously help keep the hook attached) but I've used them without multiple times and they work just fine!b definitely take advantage of the 10% while it lasts if you're thinking about grabbing them!

    These DO NOT work with powerblocks... I have two pair of power blocks (urethane and elite) each go to 125 but these will not hook around the hand grip in any manner you try (unless you disassemble the handles)... You'd also have to put them in the bottom of the handle if they were to somehow fit, to adjust the weight would be impractical forcing you to load the weight upside down with the spotters pointed up... I was going to get a pair of Olympic dumbbell handles anyway to exceed the weight cap I currently have so it's not a complete waste for me but just an FYI for those out there
