If she would have used the T14 instead of the 18, it would have yielded an icier result. She did say in another comment that she liked the golden tones, so this works beautifully for her. But for those looking to eliminate that, read on. T18 works best if your hair is the color of the INSIDE of a banana. PALE yellow. For anything a little darker yellow, or light golden, or soft orange, the T14 will help tremendously more. I'm a bit late in commenting on this video, but l hope this helps anyone just finding this. It was a gorgeous result! But for those looking to get rid of those golden tones, keep this in mind. Also, just to note, she used the 12v, so there are ONLY violet tones in that one, which ONLY helps cancel yellow tones. The clairol 12AA-BV has both blue and violet, like the Wella T14, so it also helps to neutralize more.
How would you go a little warmer say a honey blonde with golden tones? I do not want to have white or ashy hair. My skin tone has pink undertones. What products would you recommend from Sally's?
@Charlene-k5x Wella toner: T15-violet gold base, T11- gold violet base, T27- violet gold base, T35- gold violet base. Ion toners: Honey Wheat would be the closest, but l don't know the base on that. You also have to remember that you may still need some blue in the formula. So if you have a TON of orange or dark or light gold, then blue would help to neutralize those tones. Using more than one toner is usually always going to yield better results than just using one. So you could use one of the ones l mentioned above, but add a dash of T14, or T10 (both have blue undertones) to help cancel the orange or [un-purposeful] gold tones if needed. Or, you could combat all of the warm tones using a heavy ash toner, and then, once the hair is all cool, (or neutral blond), you could go over it with something like Wella 10GV, or clairol 10GN, or any brand with a G in it. These are all recommendations for platinum shades, if you aren't that light, then the same recommendations, but a lower number (whatever level you are). I hope that helps!
@Charlene-k5x Sally's also offers free consultations with licensed stylists! You just make the appointment, do a quick video chat, and they will directly send you a list of everything you spoke about that you need!
@Pasqualina S. no problem, it would be more like a 12.12 because of the blue violet (bv) but it needs to be high lift. My hair is a natural 4 level and I get a level 12 with heat.
@@SalemTheScorpio Definitely high lift is less damaging than bleach! Definitely, I tell you from my own experience. Although you get some dryness and a sort of damage from lightening process, if you use bond repair treatments and moisturising masks, you will be way better than after bleach. After bleach your hair is kind of dead. You get split ends no matter what you do. With hair dye it is different. It does not strip your hair from moisture so badly as bleach does. The only downside of using high lift is that it can only be used on virgin hair (it does not work on already dyed or bleached hair) and it only lifts up to 5 levels (if used correctly with 40 vol). If you are super dark you probably need to bleach your hair because if you are for ex a level 2 or level 3, with high lift you would only get to a level 7-8 which would be super orange. So dark bases need bleach. High lift is usually designed to be used with a minimum of level 5 natural base. Everything darker than that comes out orange with high lift. But if you are level 5 or higher, than use high lift with 40 vol and you come out warm but light enough to tone it. And definitely with less damage than bleach.
You saved my hair I have been bleaching for years suffering with so much breakage and my hair is always very short now im planning to grow it no bleach to ruin it
Use blondeme. Is sooo good. Barely any damage and good lift with the blue bleach and tone toner. Im here because i have no one to help me and bleaching if not careful can cause banding and i HATE it so bad, the banding the patches. I would rather go dark. So im here at this vid looking for alternative.
The only thing that scares me here, is 40 vol on scalp. Highlift is a different than most hair situations, though. If you use bonder A.P. or O#1 and it takes 10 volume away from your developer it could mess with your head. So we should follow instructions carefully when using that stuff. It does help though. I've been using Wella Color for 35 years now because I like the mixture and it doesn't chew my skin up. But, I do not use their developer lift because I have a sensitive scalp from bleaching with too high a peroxide lift ages ago. Be accurate, mix smaller batches, control placement - try not to let it control you. I do love bright white developer (not the bleach) to get rich tone conditioning. (It's the grape seeds, I think.). Thnx 4 the fab tutorial.
@@ahmedmahmoud8522 yes you are correct, the jug is indeed pyrex. The whisk she mixed it with however was metal, and I think aritaffcosta was concerned about that as hair dye, reacts with metals and they shouldnt ever be used.

You CAN go from black box dye (lvl2 ) to level 10 at home ! 😋 it IS possible you just have to take your time & be cool with walkin around looking wild for about a month lol. You could do it much quicker.....HOWEVER if you wanna keep the integrity & length. .. take your time & let your hair have a break. Also Morocco oil & aphoghee will save your life !

You have to be careful not to add too much though, since I have a small head and fine hair a pea size was enough for my roots.
I do hair as a profession and toner is to deposit component not to dye so with toner you wanna use 10 volume developer 20 volume would be the max with toner you want to use hair dye for light hair dye you want to use a 30 vol max as 40 is damaging to the hair and does the exact same thing as 30 vol with bleach you never wanna use more then 30 if your hair is light already you would use 20 vol with the bleach hope this helps but 40 vol for toner is a no no may work for her but it is extremely damaging and drying to the hair shaft
You are beautiful before make- up ! Thanks so much for this video! Are you always overlapping the high lift? I think that’s why you are getting so platinum but the fact that your hair is so long means that it is working! I’m going to try it.
Hey, I went and bought all the hair items you mentioned and I will try them out when they arrive. You do a great job and I am hoping my hair will turn out similar to yours. Also, I subscribed 🙂.
Between your first two videos you mentioned a few different products. In the first video you said you used 9AA AND 12A with the 40 vol developer, then in the second you only mentioned one of those (i think 12). Then in the first video you said you used T14 toner and in the second you said T18. Can you tell me exactly which products you get to aim for your color?
This is how i color my hair but i highly suggest the Ion sensitivite scalp 40 volume developer. In a white and purple bottle. It does not destroy my scalp
This method does work however on my own hair it literally doesn’t matter weather I use a 15 vol or a 40 vol it still ends up lifting a maximum of two shades so I end up using a lower volume developer for less damage … I can go from a 5/6 to chestnut brown to a 7/8 strawberry blonde … I think people with course or coppery hair cannot always lift more then two shades without bleach but if you have fine hair you might be luckier
Hi 👋🏼 I used your method and it work very nicely, I’m ready to re do my roots now for the second time is it okay to put the high lift color with 40 developer on the previous hair that was dyed along with the new growth
Thank you for the video, I am going to be using this method of products to go blonde this week and I can't wait to see how it goes. Fingers crossed it comes out as beautiful as yours.
Use some aphoghee Kayleigh. It'll have them curls POPPIN! curls are more fun than straight hair....trust me ;p BUT you can get you some stuff from sallys to do a Brazilian at home?
if your hair is wet, water blocks the color from penetrating the hair follicle... some people wet very porous blonde hair so the color DOESNT take as fast and melts off pre lightened hair.
Your hair is so Beautiful. But dear god you used a metal utensils, can mess with the chemicals and create a chemical reaction. I’m not trying to bash or blame I just don’t want anything upsetting to happen 🥺
If you were going for a darker rootage this looks pretty good! But if you had just got your hair wet and did a bleach bath on just your roots it would have matched the ends to your hair and not be so yellow. It needs done one more time to match perfectly either with the high lift or bleaching it, but it would be a sure bet to match your ends with the bleach. Just use Olaplex and you will be okay. I use the Olaplex shampoo, conditioner, and the weekly treatment. You can also put Olaplex into your dye too for both the high lift dye and for bleach so long as you up the developer a step higher. Then that pretty much ensures you can just bleach easy peasy and whenever you feel like it versus using a high lift die and kinda sorta getting your desired result. Great videos!
thank you for this video! I went to the beauty supply store and came across sooooo many colors from this brand, and i picked up these beautiful natural blonde look because i dyed my hair “lightest blond” from the box dye and it came out orange lol so thank you!!!
@Marcela Harden - high lift is not designed for natural levels darker than level 5. If you are almost black you need bleach because high lift dye can only lift 5 levels so it will lift your hair to a very red-orange brown...and you can only use it on virgin hair, once lifted it won't lift again...it does not work like bleach. If you are really dark, please go and do it at a hairdresser they will know how to lift it safely without major damage. Her natural hair is about a level 5.5-6 so she has a medium brown which lightens easily with high lift. So if her hair is level 5, with high lift it gets her to level 9-10 hence her light blonde hair. But if you are naturally darker, go to a professional, as yu need bleach.
If using like frost and glow, do u let it go through several colors then to achieve platinum blonde I always have too much orange, how do I avoid reds and bright yellow and achieve platinum highlights does it go through looking reddish, then turning more yellow then keep on longer for platinum highlights?
You are so beautiful and your hair is the epitome of #hairgoals (at least mine!)😊 Regarding the problem you mentioned of preventing toner from turning previously lightened hair grey or blue-have you tried using a porosity hair pre-treatment? I’ve used the one by Ion and have found it VERY helpful for this exact problem when toning my level 10 bleached hair. I’m not a pro so don’t fully understand how they work, but I know they’re supposed to make the porosity of the hair the same so that toners “take” evenly all over. Idk if it makes the super porous hair less porous or the less porous hair more porous in order to “even the field,” but it’s helped prevent the dreaded purple/blue/grey/overtone effect when I tone my roots (I do them every 3rd or 4th retouch) My bottom 12” of hair is so porous I can’t use purple conditioner OR even the shampoo on it for over one minute! (Not exaggerating!) It’s just a suggestion. You obviously have a regimem that works great for you!❤

Is your natural hair a dark dark brown? Also being carful with the toner, why? You were afraid it would make the already light pieces what? Darker gray? Or why so carful!l? Toner isn’t as permanent or harsh as the bleach. I am so confused on toner.. I know what it does and what it’s for... i just think they are all crap. Some dark purple shampoo and a conditioner made for keeping blonde blonde way better than toner IMO. Your hair looks great l! But have you ever considered doing a root shadow? It really makes bleached blondes look super natural and soft. Thanks for the info!
I used to wash my hair every other day. Over the past couple years I’ve trained my hair to be washed every 4-5 days without even applying dry shampoo (even though I own it). So I’m surprised after only a couple of days of not washing it to see your hair so greasy looking. I’m thankful my hair no longer has to be washed every other day cause that was a pain
I am too deaf to b able to hear, can I achieve your platinum blonde without having my hair look brassy yellow r orange, do I leave on longer to get to platinum I just get like the frost and glow ,do I not leave it on long enough to get to your stage, since I can't hear, can u text on here your answer?
Kristina Marquez hey a question for you since your a professional. Can I use a highlift on my dark roots or do they have to be bleached first? Also if I use a permanent color all over my blonde hair when my dark roots come in how do I match them to the permanent color? Thanks
She already said she had some part of her hair bleached a long time ago. She used to bleach it now she only uses high lift on roots and she overlaps each time she dyes her roots and the roots come out a bit brassy the first time but next time she overlaps they turn ashy and match the rest of the hair. Usually it is not recommended to overlap, especially if you use bleach on your hair never overlap as you cause breakage but with high lift you won't cause so much damage if you overlap a bit to re-touch the previously lifted colour.
@@BobbieRaeBeauty It really comes out platinum. I also use high lift dye but I use Matrix Ultra Blonde Ash Plus with 40 vol and it lifts incredibly however I don't get platinum, I get a medium golden blonde. I like it though and I don't tone it, I leave it as it is as I like the warmth. Are yu doing any highlights or anything? Or you only use this clairol dye with 40 vol?
Okay so I've been going to the salon and havent gotten the lightning that I've wanted and at $300 a visit I havent been in awhile and so I have like 4-5 inches of regrowth of dark brown hair. Do you think this would work out with that much regrowth? Or should I just use a bleach? I know your not a stylist or anything but just looking for your opinion. Your brows are super dark so im assuming your roots are just as dark. I used to be super white platinum in the high school days but I'm more worried about damage than I used to be. Idk. I'm rambling. Just looking for your opinion! Anyways... thank you!! Any help appreciated!!
@@BobbieRaeBeauty I've already done it . I went ahead and used bleach and also did a shadow root and toned everything and it turned out amazing! Thanks tho!
What are your recommendations if my hair is blonde but maybe not as blonde on the ends as yours? I would like to get it to that color. I already have blonde dyed hair so my strands are no strangers to being dyed. Just wanted to see if you thought I could either run the color all the way down to the end or tone all the way down to the ends? Thank you

I really don’t feel my hair is dark enough to need to bleach I don’t want the damage either ! Let me know what you used for your entire head ! Awesome video I’m definitely subscribing 🥰
You can absolutely go from black/Brown hair to blonde 👱♀️. I’m proof 😊. 1.) Bleach (40 Developer) starting from back to front. 2.) you are looking for banana yellow and some lighter colors of orange. 3.) Toners (wella t18 & t14) should be applied front to back. 4.) Toner should be mixed: A.) 1- part toner. B.) 2- parts Developer. Note: you can do 1 ounce each toner together for a total of 2 ounces. Then, 4 ounces of developer. You should have a grand total of 6 ounces. Make sure to buy a developer bottle that holds enough product.
Thank you. I have kind of thick roots but the bottom is just heavily highlighted. So I need to figure out how to get my roots and already bleached hair the same color.
40 vol developer should be never used on scalp with bleach! It can cause chemical burns. 20 vol developer is used with bleach for on scalp application and if you need more bleaching sessions you do it low and slow. Rather than 40 vol is going to blow your head off. And burn your scalp away. Not worthy, trust me, I have ruined my hair with bleach and 40 vol. High lift dye with 40 vol is ok, high lift dyes work differently than bleach, have different ingredients. But bleach used with something higher than 30 vol is a ticking bomb.
@@HalfwayJac Do not use 40 vol developer with bleach on scalp! Actually do not use 40 vol developer at all, it is insanly damaging and you will burn your scalp! Read the manufacturer instructions where it says never to use more than 20 vol on scalp! You wil get chemical burns and your hair will fall out. Because it is too strong for scalp.
That is because she didn’t leave it on long enough to oxidize. It is supposed to turn purple when it is ready to be washed out. That Wella T18 Toner she used can stay in up to 30 minutes and she only did 10 minutes. That’s why it didn’t work for her. If she would have left it in an additional 15 to 20 minutes I can guarantee it would have!!!

Your roots are as dark as mine but for my scalp my favorite developer is for sensitive formula 30 vol sallys
Hey what is your natural hair color? Do you think this would work on naturally almost black hair? Thanks
Not on the first application it will lift to a light golden brown at best but you can process 2 times and then tone
You are so beautiful and your hair is the epitome of #hairgoals (at least mine!)😊
Regarding the problem you mentioned of preventing toner from turning previously lightened hair grey or blue-have you tried using a porosity hair pre-treatment? (Not exaggerating!)
It’s just a suggestion. You obviously have a regimem that works great for you!❤
Looks beautiful 😊
Hey doll, just had to show some love because I just found your channel and I'm binging!!! I honestly cannot believe that you do not have hundreds of thousands of subbie because you do a superb job on each video in my opinion!!! I have found that I watch beauty videos as an escape from my constant horrific pain and stress from battling kidney failure. So, I truly do not have the words to express my gratitude for the content that you produce!!! You're such a gorgeous person inside and out as well. Very happy to be a new subbie!! Much love & respect sent to you and yours!!
Wow thank you. Those are such kind words. There needs to be more people like you!! Thank you for subscribing!
Ok I’m trying this after work today crossed fingers I was using ion high lift but not liking it so I try this
How long did u leave the toner on for? Thanks
What color of your hair is it and what kind of hair color did you dyed it
How do you maintain the rest of the hair? Can instill use that wella color to ligther mine more a little?!
Use the subtitles..
Omg looks gorgeous! Also you did a great job with the step by step instructions! Definitely going to subscribe!
How long did you leave the toner in for ? I love the color and want to go platinum like you did
What did you use to get your hair so blonde ?? I’m dying to get to this color . Did you tone or use a perm any dye or semi ???
She bleached her hair and then used a permanent color to tone it
So glad I came across this video!!!
Can't wait! Tyty...your so beautiful and your makeup is gorg but it makes u look so much older,😳😣😢
Hi!! Is any part of your hair bleached or is it light like that only due to the high left dye??? 💕
Kristina Marquez that’s why she used 40 volume and not 20. It was able to lift with that high of a volume
So you only do the 40 mixture for the roots?
Why not do your whole head with the dye ?
I’m so confused 😢
how long did you leave the toner?
Remember the time I dyed your hair and there was a dark chunk left in the back? Hahaha.
Yes, definitely don't want that happening again!
How could you! Lol
Do you sometimes use those bleach packets? Instead of the clarion color? I bought both and not sure which to use. :)
I just used the bleach packets and they work just as well. Mine were like a blue silver package and said extra strength
I havent used the bleach in years now, just the clairol.
Perfect bone structure and your make up is pretty .Youre stunningly beautiful 🌹🌹🌹🌸🌼🌷
That's why they called me lady gaga. My hair is still platinum. 😂. I'm asleep 😴
Ur roots are yellow, nope.
She should have used the 12aa bv high lift by Clairol and a combo of t18 and t14
oh no stop using the whisk i saw someone else use it and it turned their hair green from the metal
Great job Bobbie.
Thx
Great video as always. Just wanted to know what purple shampoo do you use, or what do you use to help with brass?
I've been using Fanola no yellow shampoo
Beautiful!👌👏👏👏
Do you put the clairol color all over your hair? Or just your roots?
The color is only placed on the roots.
Just the roots.
u needed to bleach ur roots to cut that orange. u cant lift color with color, itll just pull pigment to red or orange
With roots that long I'm not sure if you would get the light color you are looking for.
@@BobbieRaeBeauty I've already done it . I went ahead and used bleach and also did a shadow root and toned everything and it turned out amazing! Thanks tho!
@holly what products did you use? I have about 4 inches of regrowth also.
Unfortunately the roots are still slightly yellow.
Thank you
I am not a hair stylist but I would probably try to tone all the way to the ends if they are brassy.
Nice look ! But I'm surprised 😮 she still have hair lol 40 vol is bad 👎 for hair color 😅 she is drying out her hair..
I only dye my roots. I am not putting 40 volume all over my head every time I dye.
Omg please do not ever where make up again... u look beautiful natural... omg... the make also looks good but omg i feel like ppl that are naturally stunning like u dont even need it at all... although it s fun. Anyway just my opinion
Thank you so much.
@@BobbieRaeBeauty Are you still using this high lift colour to dye your hair? i love the result. I use the high lift Ultra Blonde from Matrix UL-AA with 40 vol and it comes out the same as yours...just I don't tone it because I like it slightly golden :) Did you use to bleach your hair before? The white lenghts are those white from bleaching?
I see in this video you just did your roots ! I’m a natural blonde (dirty blonde but pretty light ) did you use this same product to dye your whole head blonde ? I really don’t feel my hair is dark enough to need to bleach I don’t want the damage either ! Let me know what you used for your entire head ! Awesome video I’m definitely subscribing 🥰
Several years ago bleach was used but for about 4 or so years it has only been the dye that has given me that light color.
Ok thank you ! Gonna head to Sally’s today. Good video and thx for quick response .
I just bought some extensions from Sally’s too going to try to tone them just cause I feel they are more a yellow platinum
4.) Toner should be mixed:
A.) 1- part toner.
Ashley Masterson when u find out, let me know. Same boat
Do you use the full bottles of toner, or just mix half and half? I bought both, some bleach and 40 volume developer.
Good result.
I love it so beautiful
So wait you didn’t even bleach your roots ? Whatttt that’s crazy
You don't need that much make up,,,you look much prettier without so much, I don't like the way make up is done these days,,,,it's far too heavy
U look younger without makeup on
Yeah she’s gorgeous without make up!!!
Nice job
Roots is still yellow 😔
What level is your natural hair?
Im not sure. I will have to find out and let you know.
Your regrowth is not blonde the toner it’s not gonna work
idrs toner is get rid of brass which her roots was brass after bleaching. Which usually happens
You should always section your hair into 4 sections
Her hair looks great
Girl you should not use glass bowl plastic only
the toner didn't do anything...
Oh no u can’t stir your dye with that wisk. NO METAL IN OR AROUND DYE !!!
One does not dye hair blonde when its naturally dark, they bleach it. One only dyes hair when making It darker. You cannot dye lighter.
Well I used dye and clearly my hair is lighter.
I’m so annoyed listening to you call this a dye! It’s a lightener not a dye lol
Well, actually.. A "Lightener" is bleach! She's using a "Hi-lift" meaning, NO bleach.
Oops!
Don't be mean, It's not becoming!
@@pixieaeschliman1641 I was not being mean and lighter does not necessarily mean “bleach” OOPS! “high lift” is a “lightener” that may or may not have a tone additive! It’s not technically a color. Don’t be so judgy it’s not becoming!
Do you need a hand 😀
Omg I can't with all your smacking 🤦♀️
Sorry to hear that.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Work on the “so” you say it over and over again 😂
