U guys should really try this yourself. I just recently started doing my own color to platinum and it’s still an adventure but always turns out very well. I use a box color kit bcuz I’m still nervous about mixing powder and developer (even tho I’m doing it with the box kit-there’s instructions that r THOROUGH and it makes me feel confident) which is weird. My next color I will only use powder and developer bcuz it makes sense now. Today I am toning for the first time. I’ve seen a ton of videos like this but this is the absolute best and it made it all make a lot of sense to me. U guys should try it. It’s easier than u think I promise.
I can’t believe you did this 7 years ago. It is my bible for bleaching my hair. You make it so simple. You state the products, go through the steps…not a bunch of time chattering…and you keep people interested. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just spent $120 on a partial foil when I specifically told the doosh I wanted ALL of my roots done more than anything els, that I wear my hair 24/7 in a bun and see the outside of my roots around my head more than anywhere els. This is the 3rd time I’ve tried her and the last!!!! She doesn’t listen to what I say! I am the CLIENT. She does what she wants every-time! I’m done! This is perfect and exactly what I want. I’ll do it myself. Great job!!! All you hair stylists out there... make sure you understand what your client is asking to be done! Please!!!!
I ordered everything and did my hair today. I followed your steps and my hair turned out amazing. I got T18 but chickened out and ended up using T11 which is so so pretty. Thank you SO much for making this video. The best one I have seen and I watched a lot of them. You rock!!!
Wow this is the best diy blonde at home I've ever seen. I dyed my hair blonde a few months ago and have crazy re growth and don't want to pay 100 dollars just for roots I mean come on that's just crazy. I've never bleached my hair before at all but I'm considering trying this
I do my own roots but I use a high lift tint because I am naturally blonde just not light enough lol but I would never use bleach at home because of a bleach disaster where I burnt off my fringe a few years ago!
You killed it! (in a good way) I literally just finished watching a "Wella Professional" do a pretty bad job with touching up the root area of a colored blonde... by far you did way better! Your roots arent warm and there isnt a obvious band! And they wonder why so many people opt to just learn how to color their own hair at home lol
Finally someone on youtube who knows how to section hair correctly for a full color touch up! also you used vol 20 for the toner but only left it for 3 mins ...YOU UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS ...brilliant! well done!
I have dark brown roots and use 20 vol developer and it gets light light yellow light enough to tone to platinum . Try 20 before going for 30 or 40 vol
but keep in mind, it also depends how porous your hair is, the texture of it, etc. i have a friend who has dark brown hair and she can easily get a nice blonde with 20 vol because her hair texture is thin and her hair is porous. my hair is the same dark brown as hers but i have much more coarser, thicker hair due to my.. asian genes.. so it takes a while to take things in. a 20 vol for you might be great but honestly if i wanted the same results, i might have to go for like 35 to 40.
@@feyrie i never touched 40 lmao. matter of fact, i haven’t touched bleach ever since i wrote that comment. my hair has been pitch black for a long time now.
Next month I'm gonna try this. I payed 200 dollars last month to bleach my hair and coloring it pink, and now I know that every root touch up costs 100 dollars. I've been watching a lot of this videos to get input before bleaching my roots, but this is the best one so far. THANK YOU!
it's soo nice to see someone with thick hair doing their own roots!! i've always been way too scared to do them myself but this definitely gives me a bit of inspiration. that color looks gorgeous on you!
Okay, I know you posted this like years ago but I have been researching toners for weeks and keep coming back to this video. The T18 lifted parts of my hair but left the gold. I did my roots tonight and tried the T10 toner and OMG! It's so pretty and even! Angel's singing!
Omg girl thank you so much I’m glad I watched this video I’m about to bleach my roots and I wasn’t sure how much volume to use and how I would part the back of my scalp appreciate you making this video !!
I'm absolutely horrified of trying this at home...wish I had the guts to do it since it is so cheap!!! Your hair always turns out gorgeous when you do these videos! I love the end result! The colour is so pretty!
You are the only channel I watch regarding hair dyeing/hair care! You are so helpful & informative. All the tips you've given have worked so well for me. Thank you so much!!!
I used to do my own hair all the time with the same recommended products. I just paid so much a few weeks ago for my roots and the stylist didn’t even do nearly as well as I can do myself. I think it’s not even about being cheap but as the saying goes, “if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself”. Tomorrow, I’m taking over these roots that were essentially untouched by the “professional”. I already re-styled my cute long bangs so tomorrow... the roots!! Anyways, just because you DIY your hair... doesn’t mean anything. Sometimes you just have to tackle it yourself.
HAHA Me too, that's why I'm here late at night! Had a convo with my hairstylist tonight for advice and hope this works. Desperate times, desperate measures 😬
Yeah, that never worked on me, they thinned it out so much with a pixie cut I barely had hair left (to the root ouch) - that's how much it took! I mean, that's how thick my hair is. And that is not a pretty look either! OMG. The memories. LOL
That color is so perfect on you, looks very natural and brings our your lovely complexion. I tried T15 and it didn't do much. Still yellowish and as my soloringis similar to yours this sold me on T10!
mija your post was very helpful and saved me alot of money .. Girl i followed your instruction and mt hair looks beautiful, and feels wonderful . thanks. Connie Ibarra from Texas oxoxo
Hillary decastro my root touch ups are $195 to get an icy platinum blonde!!! so annoying! i’m thinking about doing it at home to but same here my stylist will kill me. i really want to but don’t wanna mess it up and damage it to much ughhhh
I just did my roots and the Wella toner t10 pale blonde. I have split hair dark on one side so the roots were a little more difficult because I started from the bottom and couldn't lay the bleach over the dark side. But I absolutely Love this color toner. I've been doing highlights and blonde for many years. This is now my favorite toner color. I left it on for a half hour which it says on the bottle. Anyway I love it!!!!💕
I tried this out for the first time yesterday and it turned out great!! Thanks for sharing. I loved the toner you used and this has become my new favorite color!!
WOW this is amazing. I work at a salon on the desk but i'm contemplating going back and doing my own hair because its so much funnnn! this is such a cute colour on you x
Thank you sooo much for this video!! I just spent close to $100 just to touch up my roots! I will definitely be following your instructions when it’s time to touch up next month! You’re gorgeous!
I bought the T10 because of you hehe I'm doing my roots tomorrow my daughter is going to be helping me My hair is so long wish me luck I love your hair 😍
Thank you so so much! I’m planning on coloring my hair pink, and came here to learn how to take care of my dark roots myself - this should be super helpful!
I appreciate this video so much, I always hate toning my hair, bleaching is fine but toning grinds my gears! ugh! I purchased a hair squeeze bottle thing and helped a lot ! and I also switched to pale ash blonde instead of cooling violet... much better !! thanks!
You did such a great job! Thank you for this it was super helpful. I have medium brown hair and couldn't decide if I needed 20 or 30 volume. This makes me realize I need 30 for bleaching but just 20 for toner. Thanks again :)
By far the best video!! I've watched at least 50 & still didn't have a clue ...only thing I'm thinking do I need to shampoo & condition after toner lol and does it matter which shampoo I use after the bleaching process....lol thanks for your brilliant video xx 🇬🇧
Great job doll!!! Thanks for the actual 1+2 tutorial. I needed that! True Story, lol. I went thru so many tutorials that didn't show the actual measuring,( I'm a visual learner/Slow or just show me!!) So Thank you and your hair looks Fabulous!! Love the beer sip :D too cute! lol.
Im doing this right now with all the products your doing. I already bleached my roots now I’m applying T10 in my hair I hope mine turns good as yours. 💙
I started doing my own last year .. I use wella toner t-10 as well.. & it saves me from having to pay 100 or more dollars to get my hair foiled at a shop.. & I grew up watching & helping my dad he did women's hair for like 35 years until he semi retired & just cuts men's hair now..
Thank you so much for this video. As some one with darker hair and who cannot afford to keep going to the salon where they charge an easy 200 to go blonde, I appreciate this. I found a good online store where I am in Singapore and its just perfect for the stuff you recommended. Wish we had a Sally's or a Priceline like they did in Australia because Singapore is awful to find this kinda stuff without waiting for shipping times. Thanks again!
I’m late to the party but WOW the tone is so pretty! I feel like t10 isn’t as popular as t14 or 18 and this is the first time I’m seeing this one used on a real person!
How the hell does your hair look so SOFT right after you bleached it!? I'm super jelly no lie. My hair is a lot thicker, and a WHOLE lot darker then you're natural, but even using 20 developer I only seem to get the damage and none of the lighting. I'm trying again soon, and the way you parted helped me understand how to do that part better.
Awesome video!!! Thank you slouch for posting ! You're so talented and pretty! About to try this now....bought all the shit at Sally's at least a month ago, and have been to afraid to actually DO IT.....cuz I wasn't sure How!!! Thanks for teaching us!!! I wanna look like you!!! :)
Ugh, you make it look so easy! My hair is pretty long and whenever I do it at home I struggle so hard trying to do it at a quick pace. It's hard when hair strands are all over the place ;( It definitely doesn't go as smooth when I do it myself
Adrian Daniels yessss long hair is so much harder! Honestly I probably wouldn't have tried to do it myself if I had long hair...too overwhelming for me!
You do a pretty dang good job considering you’re not a pro! I appreciate the video because I need my first bleaching root job diy and I needed someone to walk me through it! Thank again 🥰
Aw, it looks great! I wish I was that handy with the bleach and brush. Every time I try to section off my hair and do the roots, my hair gets tangled up and I end up grabbing the bleach w/ my bare hands and rubbing it onto my roots. I know I'm missing many places.
IM KINDA MAD that yours turned out so good, i always struggle. my roots are probably darker than yours, but idk what i'm doing wrong... probably not evenly applying it... i just end up with patches that are darker orange where the toner doesnt stick. i am going to try again soon using your video as a guide and i'll let you know how it goes XD
I just bleached my hair myself from an ugly ombre that hairdresser made me. Now I need to do repigmentation and dye my hair the proper colour. I was afraid that I won't be able to do my own roots precisely, but watching you do it really calmed me down :D I like doing all the beauty things myself. It would be so cool if I was able to do my roots every few weeks myself and always have the nice hair ^^ BTW Have you tried to apply just the colorant directly mixed with the 9% oxydant? It should work well with natural hair on your roots. And you wouldn't have to do 2-step dyeing with bleach and toner :) Plus - it's always better for hair to have pigments from the permanent hair dye than to get bleached and have only toner on :)
Absolutely gorgeous!! My roots are always too light and my ends are more the color of yours with the t10 I always use t18 I’m afraid it will darken my hair!
this video was super helpful! thank you :), ive never bleached my roots myself and im going to try soon so i wanted to know how were you able to do your back roots so well! thats the part i was concerned about.
When i use 20volume I wrap my head with saran wrap and i feel my head heating up so much, and it does take my hair to that pale yellow level at the roots, even though my hair is black
Excellent tut. I bleach/dye my own hair at home too. Wella toner has been a lifesaver. Silver shampoo is great for banishing brassiness in between bleaches/dyes, FYI. I use Shimmerlights shampoo and conditioner (or Silverlights...I forget)
Never use shimmerlights! Although it does remove brassiness, but it also takes the brightness of your color, i recommend using Naissant purple shampoos, they remove brassiness without taking the brightness of your color. I suggest watching the review of it on Ellebangs channel, she does a review of purple shampoos, you should check it out!
***** You will most likely have to order it online, it may be in Sallys, but most likely not. The Naissant purple shampoos are on amazon, and ebay if you can't find it at Sallys.
I like the way you get right to the point and show exactly how you did it. Your hair turned out perfect. I use wella 11 & 18 but I like the color you ended with. I like icy blonde on myself. Do you know the difference with using 10 for toning?
Thank you so much for this video!! It was so helpful and you definitely got the technique down for doing your roots which is exactly what I needed help with. I'll also get the bottle you used for the toner! Loved your "about blonde hair toners," video too btw. Liked and Subscribed :))
I don't know if you can answer this question, but you said in many of your videos that wella t11 needs to be used on at least level 9 hair. The color of my hair is similar to the color of your hair in the beginning of this video, maybe a little bit darker, but still very shiny light blond, despite of that i wouldn't say that my hair is level 9 now. Anyway, you used t11 a few months later and it turned out perfectly. I know that everyones result is different, but my answer is: What dou you think, should I bleach my whole hair? Thank you in advance! :) I really love your videos and they help a lot!
Laura Bársony is your hair already bleached to the colour it is now? If it's natural light blonde then I would suggest bleaching the entire head with just 20 volume developer to take it to the next level and then toning. If you do have bleached hair already, I would recommend t28..it works better than t11 on slightly darker hair. But ultimately, if you don't have at least level 9 hair, the the t11 won't work to its best. It might do something as long as you don't have any orangey pieces, but it won't be the "optimal results". If you are looking for the perfect pale blonde then yeah definitely bleach with 20 volume developer to lighten it up
Helpful video, thanks! Do you have to keep toning? For some reason, toner only lasts a few weeks on my hair. Even after the first wash, I will notice a bit of brassiness. I hate paying so much for professional color, but I've finally reached the point where I can't take the weird red/yellows coming through. Even ash blonde dyes end up going brassy on me. I like the way the T10 toner turned out for you.
Thanks! Yes, the T10 is great - it's less intense than the T18, and a little more silver-ish based as opposed to straight up purple. And I am the same way as you...after a few washes it won't be as cool toned. And after 4-6 weeks, I'm right back to the warm blonde I started with. A hairdresser told me once that if you apply toner to dry (or almost dry hair) then the result will be more intense and last longer.
Try washing your hair less often and, when you DO, use a blonde/silver shampoo such as Shimmerlights (I think that's the name of what I use. You get it at Sally's). Leave it on your hair throughout your shower and rinse at the end.
+Poenut thanks for the tips! I have a bottle of shimmer lights, but don't use it often because the smell is pretty off putting to me. I will just get over the smell and use it more often. I'll also try toning my hair while it is dry. :)
This was so helpful clear and concise. Thank you! One thing is that maybe you should be started from the back because it isnt exposed to sun there so Is generally thicker and darker. Xx
Your hair looks absolutely amazing! I actually just bleached my hair out twice yesterday and I have my T10 toner but I’m terrified. LOL. My question to you is why only 3 to 5 minutes with the toner on? Would I get a whiter result if I left it on less than 30 minutes?
Michelle Vernon I only left it on that long because my hair was really porous and damaged and soaked up toner faster than normal/healthy hair. It doesn’t give a whiter result to leave it on less, it just doesn’t give as strong of a result. But in my case, My hair just didn’t need any longer
Your hair looks so soft and healthy even after all that! Are you still using the same products from the damaged hair videos? I just went back to chestnut brown (natural color) from blonde since my hair remained brassy (even after spending $400 at the salon). I really love the brown now but my hair is dry and a little damaged now from the transition I think.
i literally spend $100+ dollars to retouch my roots every month and seeing this made me rethink my whole life. I’m definitely trying this !!
Yung Chiina did you try it??? my root touch ups are always $195 and i’m so over it. i’m thinking about doing this tonight lol
Yung Chiina no
U guys should really try this yourself. I just recently started doing my own color to platinum and it’s still an adventure but always turns out very well. 😨why so much I get mine done for $25 for platinum blond hair keep up...FOR ALL MY HAIR PLUS ROOTS
that's where I am at right now! when i leave my salon spending a few hundred i am not impressed with slight color difference anymore
I literally rewatch this video once every 6-8 weeks for like 3 years now. I swear by it for bleaching my hair. Thank you!
Same!!
Just wanted to update y’all: I followed this video and my hair looks AMAZING!!!!
as a fellow home hair dyer, I super appreciate these videos!

I mean also the roots are closest to the scalp, thus radiating the most heat. Beach is affected by heat that increases its developing speed.

You're so sweet! I'll surely buy some of the products you suggested for damaged hair because yours is just wonderful!!
That was so cool to watch you do that! the color is perfect and your hair has stayed so healthy and shiny. Inspiring!
You’re my go to when I need to do my roots! I love the T-10 over T-18 bc of you thanks!! 😄
Great job! The drink sip and kiss at the end cracks me up 🤣
One of the best bleaching videos I've seen
Is this considered a bleach and tone or just a root touch up ? Trying to understand the difference between the two great video by the way !
It was SO much fun watching you! I love your hair! im going crazy with mine!
You do a pretty dang good job considering you’re not a pro! I appreciate the video because I need my first bleaching root job diy and I needed someone to walk me through it! Thank again 🥰
Great job on the hair and video! Bonus cute footage of the BF + beer.
I love the idea of using a bottle to apply toner! Your hair came out so cute but I also like the dark roots on you 🙂
Aw, it looks great!
I was afraid that I won't be able to do my own roots precisely, but watching you do it really calmed me down :D
I like doing all the beauty things myself. It would be so cool if I was able to do my roots every few weeks myself and always have the nice hair ^^
BTW
Have you tried to apply just the colorant directly mixed with the 9% oxydant? It should work well with natural hair on your roots. And you wouldn't have to do 2-step dyeing with bleach and toner :) Plus - it's always better for hair to have pigments from the permanent hair dye than to get bleached and have only toner on :)
You are awesome! Thanks so much for your help. Can't wait to touch up my hair again. I love all your videos too, they're extremely helpful.
Absolutely gorgeous!! My roots are always too light and my ends are more the color of yours with the t10 I always use t18 I’m afraid it will darken my hair!
Wow. That is really spectacular! Very impressive results for at-home job.
Beautiful color I'm going to try this toner tomorrow.I hope it looks as good as yours.
this video was super helpful! thank you :), ive never bleached my roots myself and im going to try soon so i wanted to know how were you able to do your back roots so well! thats the part i was concerned about.
Maybe thats why my roots always turn "orangey" when i use 20 developer, hmm
When i use 20volume I wrap my head with saran wrap and i feel my head heating up so much, and it does take my hair to that pale yellow level at the roots, even though my hair is black
You need to increase developer. Try at leaat 30 vol or 40
Excellent tut.
+Bella Knight (Harley Quinn) where do I find Naissant?
***** You will most likely have to order it online, it may be in Sallys, but most likely not. The Naissant purple shampoos are on amazon, and ebay if you can't find it at Sallys.
+Bella Knight (Harley Quinn) okay thanks! :)
***** No problem! :)
Hi love ! You have an updated root touch up routine? Love your hair videos 💕🥰
This helps a lot ! I need to touch up my roots, which are about the same colour as yours. I will definitely do this.
I think it came out really good. It looks pretty. Good job
If you are looking for the perfect pale blonde then yeah definitely bleach with 20 volume developer to lighten it up
This ashier tone looks the best on you!
Great vid now I know which toner i want, I used T11 before but this is the color I really want.
That is SO beautiful thank you so much. I usually use wells T18 but now I see what actually need. We have very similar hair and skin tones ☺️
What a perfect lift! Wow beautiful color too from that toner
Absolutely love it!! Thanks for the tutorial!! I will be bleaching and toning my hair tonight with these products ;)
Love the quick kiss and sip of beer!😂
Xx
wow this was the best video I've found d on how to bleach and tone hair, really good video
Hey your hair looks amazing!! Some of the products are the no longer available. What are you using now???
You make it look so easy! It looks pretty! Thanks for sharing!😁
Brilliant result, best I've seen on you tube x
Wow that looks so beautiful!! Amazing job and tutorial. Do you use a purple conditioner in between colors?
Samantha Schmidt thanks!! I do once in a while but lately I've noticed if I use purple shampoo too often I get a weird pink tinged build up
Your hair looks so soft and healthy even after all that! Are you still using the same products from the damaged hair videos? I just went back to chestnut brown (natural color) from blonde since my hair remained brassy (even after spending $400 at the salon). I really love the brown now but my hair is dry and a little damaged now from the transition I think.
