I'm laughing too hard. This is me too. My husband doesn't know if that's what I was going for. So he just said it looks nice and maybe try parting it differently 😂
Lol yeah.. A hairdresser turned my hair orange. I had black box dye in my hair that I just wanted stripped out to go back to my natural brown hair and now it's orange. Now I want to find out how to fix it without going too dark again 😭
literally same. bought a like highlighter dye kit and my hair is now orange. some places more than others bc my mum accidentally splotched it everywhere :,)
cryinqsippy ughh I totally feel you. I bleached it myself but my slow ass took too long so the front was already “blonde” while I was doing the back 😂😂
You haven't really experienced the joys of diy hair bleaching until your crying in your bathroom asking over and over "How did this happen?? It was supposed to be BLOND!!" amiright?
Just did my hair violet/lilac/silver ombre using Pravana and it looks like psychedelic cotton candy! Super cute! I thank you for this video because it inspired me to get out the colors and hook my hair up!
@@CrysP13 One time long before I went to hair school and didn't know color theory I wanted to make my hair jet black so I lightened it to like 11 with cheap bleach.. I put box black on and 30 min later, the hair that hadn't broke off was electric blue... At least it was summer vacation, I don't think the Catholic school I attended would have liked me showing up to 6th grade class like that.. 😜
I went from a bright Rihanna red wit dark brown roots & you literally saved me from me over processing my hair for no reason & completely making my hair fall off😭😭💯 watching you're videos I learned how to tone my hair from the orange/light yellow color to what I consider a perfect ash blond😍💞 thank you so much❗️❗️ your videos truly helped me I appreciate it😊
I bleached and ended up with a yellow more orange than yellow hair! Wich toners did you use? I want ash blond as well... All help would be appreciate it :)
This is one of the best videos ever about how to poperly fix brassy colors with real expectatives, you can't pretend to go from dark hair colors to blonde or ash in one day, you can but it will damage your hair completely. Thank you Jess
Bleached my hair that I had dyed black and what grew out turned blonde, but otherwise became a redhead. Trying to find help because I wanted to go blue-silver!!!
Hi there!!! YOU helped me save my hair! I'm a latina with dark brown hair... I felt in love with belayage and hombre style, and finally got it done by a hair stylist at a really nice beauty salon... She told me I needed at least 3 bleach sessions in order to get my hair to a decent place (AKA not brassy - orange) I went through 2 sessions, where she didn't do a great job at the placement of the highlights... also my hair was still yellow-ish - orange. A friend of mine told me I needed toner, so I did use T18 toner. MY HAIR STYLE FINALLY LOOKS EXPENSIVE and cute! All I needed was the right toner and this one you recommended in your vlog was the correct one for me even-though I don't have a fully blond bleached hair.
I’ve been watching videos for a couple of days, looking for step by step guides for my daughter’s hair. This has been the MOST informative video I’ve found. Thank you!
sitting here after getting my hair done “balayage” by a hairdresser... with ORANGE hair. i have a presentation in two days. the day before PAY DAY. i’m pissed.
Honestly answered a LOT of questions about how the last dye session went to wrong. We used SO much bleach and Wells T18 (as advised by the women at Sally's) and it did nothing. Wound up just dying it dark again bc of how bad it looked...
Since I'm a natural level 4 brown my first bleach session pulls orange. I refuse to use a developer past lv20 so I'm lucky to get to level 8. After using a combo of Wella T18 and T10 it goes golden blonde because I use 20vol with the toner for a full 30 mins only on the freshly bleached roots then pull through just before I rinse. Every month I try different ways to tone. No surprise the T11 did nothing for my roots but I applied a 9v hair colour and it helped tone it to a bright blonde. Blonde is a lot of work but so fun to learn about. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Jess!
MsTaraVlogs you can use 20 volume developer and still get to a level 10. When using bleach, the number in a developer simply means how quickly the bleach lifts. If you're struggling I suggest processing caps to keep the bleach from drying out
Do a second bleach you didn't lesve ot on long enough. Or didn't put enough bleach on and it dried out before it stripped the colour down to yellow. Shouldn't tone it until u reach a yellow color. Ash makes it a darker blonde n can make u go Grey fast. Not good advice. Also could do 1:1:1 ratio shampoo bleach wash with 30 dev. Which will bring it to a 20 dev. But it's suggested u do 20d 1 to 1 to 1. Depending on how orange you are. I've got alot of boxed black but if you don't mix bleach right n with a little extra developer it'll dry out n end up very orange fire engine red orange. I've made this mistake n I just did it again due ro the dryness of my hosue n heat on in the house. I also didn't wrap it with plastic wrap or a cap foil etc n I should have. But I turned heat off in hosue open a window was so strong. It's been a while. However I sued ro use coconut oil virhon pur 100 percent. I didn't have any this time. Usually my hair belach3s fast the first shot n I just need ro do a quick 2nd or I shampoo wash. I don't like how my hair feels after the oil bit I used ro do it the night before leave it on all night n I then added a bit more the next day and bam had no issues. Been doing it that ay for yrs but this time I figured I'd go without n do 40 mins and bleacher out slow. Bad idea. I should a used coconut oil n I should ahveade teh batch alot more runner. Cuz this crap has changed variations as far as how much ratio n it dried out on me twice. I did add water as it git in my roots twice not by fault of my own. It bleed into some of them n I panicked. Lmao I am now semi orange no biggy. Ill do a shampoo wash tom n an olipl4x treatment tom morning and then tone it. But I've done teh whoel ash thing n unless u use the lightest ash your gona get darker ash blonde with hints of green n Grey even light ash can give u a darker greenish ash with Grey. N it's bad. Even had a hair dresser do it thsi eay at a level 7 I do not recommend this although it will cancel the red out. But you'll end ro belch to remove that greysh green it causes.its a quicker way to do it but it's still harsh cux u don't knwo what developer is in the box die and its usually 20 not 10 n your still gona need ro bleach and tone. So I woudlnt recommend doing any box die even of its got ash. I'd use teh toner she mentions but again your Stull processing 3x. I'd rather do that once with bleach safely n maybe coconut oil n then tone. Can always tone with blue not purple shampoo blue shampoo is for orange brassy hair purple si for yellow
This is one of my fave videos ive ever watched .. Omg ... Ive been dying my hair dmfor a decade.. Wins and fails as to be expected... I LOVE that this was SHORT 5 min and honest... Very good info... All true and simple... Love u for this girl. Thanks !!! It was explained brilliantly bc i knew most of what you said already BUT the way you said somethings made me think and actually made more sense then the way i understood it lol. Like t18 only for yellow lightest blonde... Use semi dark to neutralize the orange instead step2.. I hope i repeated that right. Anyways this is 👍 great!!!
I started with light ash brown hair with a couple inches of root growth that was showing a lot of metallic silver gray , (about 2/3 gray), which is my natural color now after several years of dying it. Obviously I have way more gray hair than I started with years ago. I was contemplating going natural and letting the gray grow out completely however my husband and daughter weren't ready for me to go gray yet so I dyed it as usual. Apparently Clarol Nice and Easy has recently changed their formula and using the same color I have been using for years, ( Light Ash Brown), is now closer to a Medium, bordering on a Darker ash brown! I was shocked how dark it came out but my husband seemed to like it so I let it go and moved on like nothing happened. Fast forward several weeks and my silver gray was beginning to peek through again and so this time I decided to do blond highlights to break up the dark color a bit... They turned out orange and since the kit had one of those stupid caps that you pull pieces of hair through, I ended up having the majority of the top layer of my hair being orange, with all the hair underneath being the darker brown color! My husband almost fainted at the sight of me!... So back to the proverbial drawing board I went to try to salvage what I could by using Wella T18 Toner I had on hand in the hopes of bringing down the "brassiness"! IT DID NOTHING AT ALL! In my desperation I put on a baseball cap and went to the nearest store to get a permanent color from Loreal in Dark ash Blond, now being afraid of Clarol, hoping that it would even out the color and give me something closer to a light ash blond.... and would you believe it.... My hair turned completely orange! LOL! If you didn't know better you would think I was born a RED HEAD! my husband HATED IT ... as did I! I also ended up burning my scalp so badly that my scalp was weeping and ended up scabbing all over! Chemical burns from too many processes in one day? Chalk it up to a lesson well learned! I had to wait for my scalp to heal for a week before trying anything else! If it wasn't so damn funny I would CRY! So today I went to Sally Beauty Supply and the girl there hadn't the first freaking clue what she was talking about and recommended Wella T28 Toner which is a warmer blond! Thankfully I ignored her and bought the T14 instead! I let it process for the full 35 minutes and the final result ended up dark blond and is no longer orange, but is still a bit on the brassy side! At least I can go out in public without looking like a clown however, I am at a complete loss and cannot explain what the hell went wrong and how to get to a nice cool / ash blond! I have done blond highlights many times in the past with great results! I used Clarol blond highlights / frost kit, which is not my normal brand for highlights! The liquid consistency should have been a dead giveaway that it would be a gamble - MY BAD! LOL Should I chalk this up to a fluke or user stupidity? Does this have anything to do with the metallic silver hair I have? I have been noticing that the gray I have has been becoming more and more resistant to color over the years, especially around my temples. No mater what brand of permanent dye I have used it remains a metallic silver white color. After this debacle I am extremely tempted to give up and go to a salon! Sorry for the long story!
I can’t believe how accurate this is to me. From the family not being ready for you go gray to all the products that you mentioned!😂 I was using Clairol light ash brown since the pandemic and I was ok but I wanted to switch it up a little since light brown and LIGHT highlights is my favorite look and what everyone knows me by and did the Clairol highlights kit and ended up a TRUE CARROT color! It’s only being 3 days since I bleached and I don’t want to do it again so soon. So per TikTok, I went to Sally’s and got a T14 & 050, she said to mix it with 20vol developer. It’s 4:30am and I’m about to get in the shower, towel dry my hair and apply the toner. Wish me luck!
So how much time in between would you suggest “lightening it again” because- if someone just bleached their hair- bleaching never it again over that same hair would be bad right? 😳
I have lightened my hair 3 times in the space of 2 weeks and I have got quite light but my hair was purple before and I have light golden orange bloned slash platinum hair in very good condition still I havnt left it for more then half an hour at any time trying to keep the hair healthy good luck with it I feel we've all lost the plot hahahaha x much love ladies x
Give at least a week in between please. Don’t wash your hair at all. You need all the oils. If your hair wasn’t damaged in the first process of bleaching, it probably will be if you don’t wait and bleach again.
lolita I left my hair about four days before attempting again I've since lightening it been using purple shampoo and doing conditioning treatments my hair is looking a lot better I'm getting used to it good luck I hope you get the result your after
Billy may George no i mean how long did you leave the bleach in for? I bleached my hair with 40 vol developer and the next morning i bleached it again because the front of my hair didn’t lighten enough,, it was pretty yellow and brassy and all i had was purple dye so i dyed it and it turned my hair gray,, it was pretty for about a day and two and now this gray hair is starting to turn yellow again,, im trying to go platinum and as the days go on i realized my hair is pretty damaged and kind of all over the place at the ends because i didnt know 40 vol was bad for your hair then,, do i continue to go platinum or like..? (dyeing my hair again in about a week or two with 30 vol this time and going with purple shampoo because i didnt have one last time)
Crissiii sorry for delay! Just seeing this now. The short answer to this is yes - if you're content with the bottom, only tone the top. However, there is silk a chance it's going to look uneven if the bottom and top of your hair are different levels. Even 1 level difference in lightness can make the difference. My advice would be to first try what you suggested. But you might need to bleach your roots first to get them more even with the bottom if they are slightly darker or brighter. Keep in mind that certain toners mentioned in this video only work on very light yellow hair. Other options are: covering up the top part of your hair with a darker colour close to your natural for a rooty blonde look. Or putting a slightly darker blonde demi permanent all over to even it all out. Good luck💕
somegirljess hello there just seen your vedeo " i really need your help, just bleached my hair and now have yellow and golden hair in front 'roots are more yellow and orange at the back " what toner should i use to get the orange and yellow goldy colour off? i was looking for honey blonde colour maybe t27 . not sure if it will remove the orange and yellow? please help????
omg you are an actual life saver, i was so frustrated that sometimes t18 works great and sometimes it doesn’t and didn’t realize t28 is better when my hair is a bit darker blonde and i just fixed my hair after freaking out for two days trying to get the orange out haha
Actually cream bleach lightens more than the powder and has oils in it to prevent as much damage as possible. Use Wella t14 toner or anything with a blue base to tone orange hair if you have more yellow do something with a purple toner like Wella t18. Basically Purple covers yellow Blue covers orange.
Don’t tone over processed hair with the same colour level; as the over processed hair will grab the colour & go much darker than you want... use a shade lighter & keep checking the result...
You can play it safe and apply the colour to the roots first, and just give the ends a quick wash of color. The color will fade after a few washes especially if it’s very processed and porous, so don’t panic if it looks too dark at first
Pretending my orange hair was intentional and that I can play it off as intentional due to me being Irish 😅😭 but managed to fix it: after bleaching it and then toning it, uplifting it, then dying it to neutralise the colour and then lastly: toner it. Long story short: me and my friend used Jerome Russel bleach on my hair but we ran out, so we had to get another box to do the bits that was darker than the rest/spots we missed… toner and uplift into strawberry blonde, which i can pull off as blonde in bright lighting. So I left it alone for 4 days with hair treatments but my friend did notice the back/sides/top are three different shades of blonde so I dyed it with blonde hair dye then used London Bleach Toner, which made the hair the colour i originally wanted and now: for the next month hair treatment and then maybe 6 weeks Ill see what i wanna do next
Sitting here looking like the Mad Hatter. I thought I was confused but didn't know exactly how badly I was confused until I watched this. Random dance moment coming up followed by much tears
anyone who does diy blonde hair colour with dark hair has experienced this before. in fact I'm sitting here right now with brassy hair, not entirely orange but not far off. The most annoying thing for me is box dyes are so unreliable at times. I just bought a dye that lightens two shades supposedly, and so I tried it out because I'm not far off from a blonde colour I can neutralize and be happy with. So I go through all the trouble of dying it and it comes out about the exact same shade I kid you not, the only thing really noticeable to me now is it is more damaged than before lol, SMH! it really is a gamble at times but when it works out the results can look professional. purple shampoo can help to an extent I find. the best tip in this video I agree with is use an ash color the same level as the current color you have. so if you have a pretty dark orange, its going to have to be light ash brown or dark ash blonde. you can't get platinum hair unless as this video mentioned you have very light hair already. But If your goal is lighter hair wait until you are at that level first. I've made the mistake of going orange dying it ash and then lightening it again only then again to need to dye it another lighter ash. in the end it is less damaging to just get it to the level of brightness you want and then from there to neutralize the tone with a ash colour. I find the perm color works better but is more damaging. (I've dyed my hair over 100 times hair dying addict here). one last tip I've learned over the years is if you can control yourself plan to dye your hair close to before your scheduled hair cut, this way you can end up with quite healthy hair because you dye it damage it and then get some of the damage cut off.
From a licensed cosmetologist: You have to go up one color to cover orange but not change your level. Example you are level 7 with orange color, use a semi permanent level 8. If you use a level 7 semi permanent on a level 7 hair, your hair will go one level darker to a level 6..
Can you please help with a color to use? I asked a stylist online if I can put 7.12 over it and he said that it will turn green...but I know the 1 neutralizes orange so I am confused
“About blonde toners” is one of her videos and she talks about a ton of Toners and shows photos theirs one in there that got her like a west colored look
Literally just fixed my orange brassy colour today! After 2 bleaching attempts left me orange hair ! I’m went an picked up vol 20 wella t14 an also wella 050 mixed all together an it’s worked !!!!
Gawd. Thank you. Im naturally a level 2 or 3, that is now a level 7 that is pulling a severe "burnt orange". Tried well t18, didnt work. Now I know I need a demi with a blue base. Thanks!!
Wella ColorCharm Demi-permanent, 7A for 20 minutes did the trick for me. I called Wella and the rep confirmed a blue base for 7A. Got rid of the orange and gave me a light chocolate brown, with still a bit of warmth and shimmer from my bleach experiment gone wrong. I'm a natural level 5. I'm beyond grateful. Thank you.
I am SO grateful I came across this! somergirljess, you are the ONLY video I've come across that has given the true answers and results. I was actually worried about just adding toner(recommended by a few stylists) fearing what you said would happen (on my orange brassy yuk!) THANK YOU!!! I will try a Demi first You're awesome
Mine too...im so happy n satisfied...looks better than the ginger...i would have liked the ginger hair color if it was done professionally...I'll never do that again.
Accidentally dyed my eyebrows orange with light brown henna lol! 🤣 I’m here for real help! They are usually bleach blonde with a slightly reddish tint haha hoping light brown beard dye fixes it!
I did my own highlights and when I went to tone it with T18 I ended up leaving the toner on too long and it lightened my natural brown roots to an orange color. Which would be the best way to correct this? I haven't had the time and money to see my hairdresser so I thought maybe I can do it myself, which I have in the past but never came across this issue before. Please help!
i toned my hair w 20 developer and my roots were grown out and i didn’t know you weren’t supposed to put it on ur roots so my roots r kinda orange yellow but the rest of my hair looks great what do i do 😂
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! FINALLY SOMEONE NOT DRAGGING OUT A VIDEO AND STILL NOT GIVING USEFUL INFORMATION. KUDOS FOR THIS VIDEO EVEN BEING FOR US ORANGE HAIR GALS!
Watching for education purposes and omg. I've always had trouble with colour theory. It just wasn't my forte but this video almost instantly made it click in my mind. Im so happy I can literally cry. 😭 thank yoooou.
I bleached my hair to a level 6-7, toned with Wella t35 and ended up with a milder version of what I started with: very golden strawberry blonde with sandy ends. My skin is too warm for the color and I look weird. I’m scared to dye it! I don’t want my hair to fall out.
Hi I'm a new subbie. I loved your [about me] section. So glad you're not calling yourself a guru although you seem to know more than these so called gurus. You've gotten me out of some hair disasters. Thank you and Happy Belated New Year!
A level is the shade of lightness and darkness of your hair. T somethings refer to names of Wella branded toners. Check out my video called Toning Hair for Beginners for more details :)
I’m so glad I saw this video I’ve used T18 and T 14 and they didn’t really give me a nice tone I order a T35 just to try a different tone without knowing if I’ll work but now seeing this video helped me realized that not only toners will remove that brassiness I didn’t know you can use demi to do that so if t35 that I ordered n it’s on its way doesn’t work at least now I know I can order a demi in my same level thanks a lot!!!!
I have long natural dark brown hair and I don't see myself dyeing my hair anytime soon but your videos about hair are still so interesting 😂 I hope that's not too weird🙈
Yeah it's definitely not a video for the every day DIY hair person !! I knew what she was on about but can easily see how others would struggle with all the numbers and letters !
If you don't want to go a level darker (and you're a level 7 orange, for example) you'd want to get a demi permanent dye that's level 8.. otherwise the blue tones in the dye and orange in your hair will combine to bring you a shade darker to a level 5.
Hmm, I am a level 6-7 but not too orange. I was thinking of putting a 7.12 over it to keep the same level, because I was afraid of getting hot roots. Won't a level 8 be too light?
Hi!! Love your videos! I bleached my hair 2 days ago and used T18 with 20 developer. My roots came out orange I think because I didn’t leave the bleach on long enough. The rest of my hair came out great because it was highlighted before. Can I rebleach just the roots then use the t18 and 20 developer ? Also how soon can I do this? Thanks!!
So angry after seeing this. Years ago I bleached my hair and freaked out bc it turned light orange (which I'm now realizing was completely normal, just needed a toner!). Ran to a "high end" salon to fix it, the hairdresser just kept rebleaching it and rebleaching it and rebleaching it (3x) to get the yellow-orange out (Note: told her I didn't care what color it was, just didn't want the orange anymore). My scalp was so raw, hair was so fried (and still hasn't recovered -- I permanently lost a lot of my hair) finally the hairdresser said I was going to have to live with the yellow until it's healthy enough for another bleaching, bc my hair was too damaged to work on :( Blew hundreds of dollars to look like a lemon head, it was such a nightmare and traumatized me, never wanted to go to a salon after that. So I've just been dying my hair solid dark brown at home since.
I'm SOOO sorry dude. Yeah it's disturbing how many hair stylists and whatnot- don't actually know what they're doing. It's ok, We have RUclips for that!! Hahah I've had hair dressers mess my shit up before... Or at least deposit some color that comes out after 2 shampoos (yes, sulfate free ones....) and waste all my money. Just stupid shit, so they can make a quick buck. Sorry *that* happened to you, though. Wow. I'd literally sue them...... It's one thing to waste a bunch of money. Or to waste a lot of time. Or to get your hair perpetually fucked up and damaged.. But ALL those things at the same time.......... I hope you didn't let them get away with it. Write all the bad reviews til they pay you off to take them down.. or til they make it up to you! 'Cause seriously, no one should have to go through that.
I will be bleaching it again tomorrow using Bleach London Plex Bleach and toning after with Bleach London Champagne Super Toner ... fingers crossed it will all be ok and no more two tone hair 😀
Hi, no I used 40 volume both times I bleached it. It still wasn’t brilliant after the 2nd lot of bleach and the Champagne toner. Although the orange had toned down a lot but my hair was left in pretty rough condition. So I wouldn’t advise 40 Volume especially multiple times... Lots of Plex bond repairer and hair masks ... after another 2 weeks I used a High Lift Tint 20 Volume in Lightest Ash Blonde with built in Plex and finally I was no longer two tone or orange ... yay!! 😊
Thank you so much for this video. I was thinking of going with punky colour powder bleach with 20 vol developer since it seems less harsh. I'll just have to get a toner then I'll be all set to getting rid of this orangey mess! Excited. :)
Samm Vinesett i was a level 8-9 and toner did nothing for me! I was so disappointed. Blue base and all it looked as though i never toned it. I tried the demi color she mentions too and it did nothing again. The only thing that worked was actually using a 1:2 ratio with permanent dye. Idk if my hair is super stubborn or what but i was pretty upset i wanted that beautiful wella toner to work so bad lol.
Skallia Ray yeah the wella toners aren't always so strong! Did u use it on clean dry hair? My hair will only take it if it's clean, damp/dry ish and if I use a processing cap. The wella toners are essentially the same as perm dye so no worries!
+Skallia Ray, I've never liked Wella toners, even for my yellow hair. They tend to make it too ashy, and they don't last long at all. I have goldy, I suppose maybe goldy orange, but that was the color of my natural hair, I was always a goldy dark blonde. Same thing happens with me using demi perm to tone.. it takes up the color and makes my hair look brown, then it fades to ashy gray. I don't know why everyone wants to get rid of gold/ orangish highlights.. like she said.. natural brown hair has goldish highlights, and does some dark blonde hair. I use Wella permanent 1210.. its a blue based permanent color. This is what I use to tone/color, Even though it's a 12, they don't call this one "high lift' , so I use 20V. My hair turns out a med blonde, slightly warm. I'm good with this. Trying to get rid of all the gold doesn't work, so I've just embraced it :) It's prettier and more natural than dark ashy color, especially when you get older.
I have yellow roots after bleaching and did some bayalaj that turn orange and gradually lightened to beig blonde, i want to tone all this mess with silver semi permanent color, is it gonna work???
the wella t15 made my yellow hair dark brown! Yuk! You have said in older videos that wella toners are drying to your hair, have you tried a different brand to tone your hair?
I've heard many people say the t15 is dark!! one person even said it turned their hair like pink! and to answer your question, i've used other toners but not since i last said I wanted to try something new. to combat the dryness, i used a wella toner with a 15 volume developer (from blond brilliance) instead of 20. this didn't dry out my hair so bad! :)
Try using goldwell colorance Demi with the goldwell colorance Demi activating lotion. You can buy it off of eBay. But this stuff is magical omg it makes your hair SUPER shiny and healthy and it’s just a Demi gloss. Your welcome.
hi, so quick run down...what if the hair was previously dyed orange with a semi orange fashion color...is T14 good for that? it is now a level 7/8, orange...should I try to gently strip that hair with a soft, soap cap? or apply T14 toner with 10 or 20 instead?
•story time• Okey so my natural hair was brown and I really miss it and don't wanna have to wait for it to grow out , anyway in the summer holidays a few months ago I got it done blonde and it went ginger 😟 like I didn't mind much but anyway I went to the salon with my grandma a few weeks / days later and I got it done blonde and I was so happy with it 😃 and i also got brown / blonde highlights over it , now it's just going frizzy , dry , yellow orange, bare in mind I do have a healthy hair care . I'm hoping this video will help me get out my yellow / orangey after months mess 😂😀
Watching this with bright orange highlights... I naturally have brown ginger hair and thought why not enhance it, I went too light... now going to the shops to get a toner to fix the brightness
ok, so I bleached in a balayage, and because my hair is dark brown, it's orange, I expected that, but I want it to get to a dark blonde, sorta between ash and honey. should I bleach again, then tone? how long to wait in between?
I suggest watching my Toning Hair for Beginners video! But basically you can do 2 things: 1) put a hair colour on top of the oraannge parts that is the same level of your orange. ie: typically orange hair is between level 5-7 (level 5 being darker orange, level 7 being light orange). keep in mind, if you are dark/medium orange, you wont end up with a dark blonde. 2) your other option, if you are wanting thaatt dark blonde, you'll have to re bleach your orange parts and then put a colour on top that again matches the level you achieve. if you get to a light orange, put on a level 7 hair colour. if you get to a dark/medium yellow, use a levl 8 hair colour. if you get to pale yellow (like literally super pale pastel yellow that is close to white), then you can use a regular "toner" like a wella toner. remember to only apply toner/colours onto your orange/lightened parts only. good luck!
Sittin here with red roots an bkeached hair 🙄 my roots grow so fast cost me a fortune in salons. I really wana go back to my auburn hair i put it brown it went green lol
Amy Thompson haha I've gotten so many people ask me this! But the truth is, there is no toner that got me this colour. This is very faded hair, most of the toner I had previously used has completely washed out. The one I used was t28 but when I first used t28 my hair was much more silvery and darker. So I guess this is the faded, "brassy" t28 😂 but everyone seems to like it! If you want a colour like this, I don't suggest a toner. I'd go with a 10G - level 10 demi permanent colour with a golden undertone. Of course this won't lift your hair, but if you already have level 10 hair, it'll work :)
I love how we’re all watching this video with orange ass hair lmao.
THAT IS ME I look like a candy corn
Sure am but after all those watched video's. This one gave me answers. lol!

I just use color oops to take the orange color out

How did you fix the dark roots and orange lengths? I have ended up with the exact same problem so any help would be so appreciated, thanks.
This is one of the best videos ever about how to poperly fix brassy colors with real expectatives, you can't pretend to go from dark hair colors to blonde or ash in one day, you can but it will damage your hair completely. Thank you Jess
i’m here for my gf, cause she started crying that it came out orange. So i’m here to see what can be done to help 😩💖
Aww tone over it if it's too damaged lol. I hope she ends up with the perfect hair!

Another orange quarantine victim sitting here 🙋♀️🤦♀️😂

If you're struggling I suggest processing caps to keep the bleach from drying out
Samm Vinesett thanks so much! That is great advice.
This is probably the most helpful video I’ve come across on RUclips on toning Orange hair!! You explained everything so clearly!! Thank you! :)
.pink grey hair color
Agreed!!! ❤️
LOL
Should I chalk this up to a fluke or user stupidity?
My girlfriend really dyed my hair and I’m sitting here panicking while she’s sleeping
LMAO! Did she bleach it? Epic!
at least she can see the back of your head lol
So how much time in between would you suggest “lightening it again” because- if someone just bleached their hair- bleaching never it again over that same hair would be bad right? 😳
I have lightened my hair 3 times in the space of 2 weeks and I have got quite light but my hair was purple before and I have light golden orange bloned slash platinum hair in very good condition still I havnt left it for more then half an hour at any time trying to keep the hair healthy good luck with it I feel we've all lost the plot hahahaha x much love ladies x
Billy may George how long did u leave it for?
(dyeing my hair again in about a week or two with 30 vol this time and going with purple shampoo because i didnt have one last time)
hey you're a life saver! mixed t28 with t14 orange hair is gone! woot woot! p.s it's all about the pretty beige blonde
yaaaas!! so happy it worked out!! :)
somegirljess if im content with the bottom of my hair should i just mix those two toners on the top portion of my hair?
Good luck💕

omg you are an actual life saver, i was so frustrated that sometimes t18 works great and sometimes it doesn’t and didn’t realize t28 is better when my hair is a bit darker blonde and i just fixed my hair after freaking out for two days trying to get the orange out haha
Lifesaver!!! Wish i would’ve watched this before putting t18 on my orange hair lol😂
Actually cream bleach lightens more than the powder and has oils in it to prevent as much damage as possible. Use Wella t14 toner or anything with a blue base to tone orange hair if you have more yellow do something with a purple toner like Wella t18.
Basically
Purple covers yellow
Blue covers orange.
A girl working at Sally's told me the best was t18 mixed with t14 I bleached my hair I plan to try these toners tomorrow
Don’t tone over processed hair with the same colour level; as the over processed hair will grab the colour & go much darker than you want... use a shade lighter & keep checking the result...
You can play it safe and apply the colour to the roots first, and just give the ends a quick wash of color. The color will fade after a few washes especially if it’s very processed and porous, so don’t panic if it looks too dark at first
@@LyrasRaven Or - you can play it even safer - and don’t do it..
The background music sounded like that creepy ringtone from “One Missed Call”. I was shook.
Almost
Dam I remember that movie 😂 crazy
And i was wondering what this music reminded me 😂😆😆😆
Oooh yes don’t it
Pretending my orange hair was intentional and that I can play it off as intentional due to me being Irish 😅😭 but managed to fix it: after bleaching it and then toning it, uplifting it, then dying it to neutralise the colour and then lastly: toner it.
How do I know what level my hair is🥹

I barely understood anything in this video. What are all these levels and T somethings.?!?
A level is the shade of lightness and darkness of your hair. T somethings refer to names of Wella branded toners. Check out my video called Toning Hair for Beginners for more details :)
You should then go to a professional. Color is tricky and can damage your hair and possibly scalp.

Yeah it's definitely not a video for the every day DIY hair person !! I knew what she was on about but can easily see how others would struggle with all the numbers and letters !
this is so helpful! I currently have a hot roots situation going on so this was really helpful 😊
If you don't want to go a level darker (and you're a level 7 orange, for example) you'd want to get a demi permanent dye that's level 8.. otherwise the blue tones in the dye and orange in your hair will combine to bring you a shade darker to a level 5.
I have a neutral brown now but it’s a level darker.. wish I would’ve known this :( but at least it’ll fade
Hmm, I am a level 6-7 but not too orange. I was thinking of putting a 7.12 over it to keep the same level, because I was afraid of getting hot roots. Won't a level 8 be too light?
THE MOST HELPFUL video on brassiness I have found I youtube. Thanks a lot!

A way I got rid of my orange hair was to put a silver metallic hair dye over top of it. My hair is no longer orange it is blonde. 🤗🤗🤗
'Cause seriously, no one should have to go through that.
as a hairdresser it breaks my heart she did that to you!!! she should of known better ugh. i hope your hair has a fast recovery!
I've had a similar experience in 2007 which was long before toners were really understood and used. It sucks..
In lockdown with a new mixed hair colour of bright white roots and pale orange lengths and tips ...
Louise Dickens did you beach your hair again?
I will be bleaching it again tomorrow using Bleach London Plex Bleach and toning after with Bleach London Champagne Super Toner ... fingers crossed it will all be ok and no more two tone hair 😀
Did you use 20 vol on your orange hair?
Hi, no I used 40 volume both times I bleached it. It still wasn’t brilliant after the 2nd lot of bleach and the Champagne toner. Although the orange had toned down a lot but my hair was left in pretty rough condition. So I wouldn’t advise 40 Volume especially multiple times... Lots of Plex bond repairer and hair masks ... after another 2 weeks I used a High Lift Tint 20 Volume in Lightest Ash Blonde with built in Plex and finally I was no longer two tone or orange ... yay!! 😊
Louise Dickens thank you!!!💗
Thank you so much for this video. I was thinking of going with punky colour powder bleach with 20 vol developer since it seems less harsh. I'll just have to get a toner then I'll be all set to getting rid of this orangey mess! Excited. :)
If your a level 7 blonde you CAN tone your hair you just need something with blue base bc that will bring you to a dark beige

Thank you so much for this video: straight forward, good advice. Just what I needed. 😉
the wella t15 made my yellow hair dark brown!
Finally someone who knows what she’s talking about. Thank you much.
hi, so quick run down...what if the hair was previously dyed orange with a semi orange fashion color...is T14 good for that? it is now a level 7/8, orange...should I try to gently strip that hair with a soft, soap cap? or apply T14 toner with 10 or 20 instead?
I just did my hair and it turned orange 🤦🏼♀️
•story time•
Okey so my natural hair was brown and I really miss it and don't wanna have to wait for it to grow out , anyway in the summer holidays a few months ago I got it done blonde and it went ginger 😟 like I didn't mind much but anyway I went to the salon with my grandma a few weeks / days later and I got it done blonde and I was so happy with it 😃 and i also got brown / blonde highlights over it , now it's just going frizzy , dry , yellow orange, bare in mind I do have a healthy hair care . I'm hoping this video will help me get out my yellow / orangey after months mess 😂😀
I just just dyed my hair and I needed this badly! Thank you!!
excellent! glad to help!! :)
After all the searching I have done online, your video was the ONLY helpful video, thank you so much!!!!
Watching this with bright orange highlights... I naturally have brown ginger hair and thought why not enhance it, I went too light... now going to the shops to get a toner to fix the brightness
This video just saved 👏my👏 life👏
ok, so I bleached in a balayage, and because my hair is dark brown, it's orange, I expected that, but I want it to get to a dark blonde, sorta between ash and honey. should I bleach again, then tone? how long to wait in between?
I suggest watching my Toning Hair for Beginners video! But basically you can do 2 things: 1) put a hair colour on top of the oraannge parts that is the same level of your orange. ie: typically orange hair is between level 5-7 (level 5 being darker orange, level 7 being light orange). keep in mind, if you are dark/medium orange, you wont end up with a dark blonde. 2) your other option, if you are wanting thaatt dark blonde, you'll have to re bleach your orange parts and then put a colour on top that again matches the level you achieve. if you get to a light orange, put on a level 7 hair colour. if you get to a dark/medium yellow, use a levl 8 hair colour. if you get to pale yellow (like literally super pale pastel yellow that is close to white), then you can use a regular "toner" like a wella toner. remember to only apply toner/colours onto your orange/lightened parts only. good luck!
Sally has an ash additive from Ion that is SUPER blue!
Can you take a picture from the product???
@@laurimarrosado3074 This reply is super late but it's called 050 cooling violet additive

Girl! You saved my life! Thank you thank you thank you!
Sittin here with red roots an bkeached hair 🙄 my roots grow so fast cost me a fortune in salons. I really wana go back to my auburn hair i put it brown it went green lol
Tbh there's no stores that are open at 11:30pm and I'm struggling here
which toner did you use to get this colour? this one seems more golden/beachy than in your videos I've seen, this is what I want in my life!
