IT WORKED!!!! My hair was black and I used blond box dye to make it brown and it was SO brassy and orange. I tried this technique and I have ashy brown hair!!!! It’s amazing I love it. Thank you I followed the exact steps in the video but left it extra 5 more minutes cuz my hair was super orange
I'm dark brown with more then 50% gray (since I was 15). Two years ago I've started coloring my hair light using shade 9G or 9N. Last year I took a picture of me next to the pond and my hair was all red. Today, I tried this toning process and it worked so nicely. No more stubborn red. Thank you so much. Dali
Wow! As a hairdresser of 17 years the results have blown me away. I would never In my life think to make a toner that way but It makes perfect sense with the blue. Well done 👏🏻😍
Omg I bought this hair dye last night and a bottle of VO5 shampoo, and it worked!!! Thank you soooo much for posting this video. My hair was so orange and reddish I kept dying over it with a dark brown, and it did nothing but turn it even more redish orange with damage... My hair actually feels softer, it's toned !!! You have no idea how happy I am . thank you!!!!
It works magic. I finally tried it too. I am dying my hair dark blonde lately. (6-7) I used blue black and conditioner, and it is now pure blonde not a trace of orange. 👏👏👏👌☺
This is the kind of videos people NEED!! I am a professional, but know everyone can’t get professional products & 9 outta 10 times too impatient or don’t have the $$ so they go for box color. You did a GREAT JOB!! Showing what you can actually achieve without ruining the integrity of your hair. Can’t believe it worked, but you’re proof it did!! 😊
Wow! Although I am fair and freckles and my hair is just brown, not a deep dark brunette like my olive skinned mother had, I have extra strong, stubborn red, brassy tones in my hair. This has been so helpful, as not even professional colorists seem to be able to de-brass my hair! Whoever was brave enough to put a shot of indigo hair color on as a de-braising toner was a hero! Thanks for sharing!
THANK YOU so much, Lisa!🙏 🙌💜Your tutorial is so fantastic and easy to follow. I watched your instructions several times because I was worried and didn't want to mess up, and watching you do it helped me get courage. Then I went for it! Only difference was that I squeezed out 2 stripes of color paste instead of 3 because my hair is very damaged and porous and I figured I better play it safe. Kinda eyballed all the proportions as you did, mixed it all very well, saturated the hair and rinsed out within 5 minutes. Couldn't be happier with the results! SUCH a cool ashy and shiny result. I'm so grateful to you for teaching me how to do this and now I can use the technique whenever I need to. Oh yeah, and it's WAAAAAY cheaper than going to the salon. I'm sharing your video with all the people I know that could use it.
i had white blonde hair for 15yrs n went black went back to blonde im at a orange n im def gonna try this method makes perfect sense with the blue!! u did an amazing job
I am so glad I saw this video Lisa. My hair is about the same length as yours and I have tried so many toners but this is awesome. The nape of my neck area especially has gotten very brassy.I went to a salon and the stylist wouldn't tell me which colors she used but I ended up getting more brassiness than I cared for. I am going to give this a try, thanks for sharing this.
I hope you love the results!! Don't leave it on any longer than 5 minutes maximum and wash with regular white shampoo after you rinse it out then condition as normal. After the first time you will know what your hair needs if it's less or more dye and how long to leave it on. It is trial and error for each person. Good luck XO
I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH WORDS TO THANK YOU ❤ I bleached my hair and I got an orange color. Then I searched the hole internet how I can fix that, I followed your exact steps and now I got a really pretty gray tone. You just saved my hair ❤
I am going to try this because no blue shampoos seem to work on my middle aged hair anymore his I hate how even hair textures CHANGE after 35 😢 my daughter told me how ugly my hair was this afternoon and I just nearly cried. I’m doing this asap
I have heard to use blue black hair dye the way you did Lisa I've tried it it really works the best it's called rinsage treatment I think in Egypt they use this method, another girl on Utube did this but never actually showed thanks Lisa 💜💜💜
Yes. I heard about rinsage years ago and told my sister how to do it for her highlights. This is the first time I used it and it's trial and error to get the consistency and timing right. XO
This worked absolutely amazingly! Thank you so much for your video! I followed every step. After the wash, I decided to do it a second time, since I loved the ashy blond look!!
YYYOOOUUUU! Are my HERO! I have been shrugging since I hilighted my hair! I have some grey at the front so when I toned the hilights it made the gray parts purple 😢. It looked ridiculous😂. This technique is perfect because you start where the orange is and then just hit the greys at the end. PERFECT! LOVE YOU LADY!
Dang, I luckily ran across your videos, so glad I did. I have med to dark brown hair normally. I used to keep my hair a beautiful blonde but after a divorce i just gave up. 😔 Now i have some products to use, and now I know what to try for the toning. Im sure I'm going to be orange after the first bleaching. So I'll wait till after the second round and try this for toning!! So Happy to have run into this by accident. 😊
Actually blue neutralizes orange and warm gold, green neutralizes red. Google a picture of the color wheel and it shows you.:) opposite colors neutralize each other
This worked great for her because she was more of a brassy orange tone with a hint of red under tone. Like TiLi Beauty said, blue neutralizes orange. If you are more of a red tone go for a green base toner. If you can get your hands on Redken’s ash green color it works great. I also recommend using a demi permanent if your hair is more on the damaged side as it has minimal lift. Remember anything the lifts your hair “lightens it” will cause damage.
@@adrianmalagon1617 YOu could use a volume 10 developer though which would cause very, very minimal damage because 10 is used to deposit color, not lift.....
oh my worddd... thats my color!! I have waist length hair now... but .. about 12 inches of it is old growth and had been colored .. is brassy.. I will do this !! huge hug huge!
This technique actually works! Yay! Thank you for sharing… it removed the brassy color and I dis get some blue strands of hair. I will take the awkward blues strands over the nasty orange though. Next time I am trying mixed in conditioner
Wow Lisa you have done absolutely Amazing with your hair, it’s looks absolutely stunning on you. This has got to be my favourite on you, really compliments your dark eyes 😘
Hi Lisa! Your move to Florida is very exciting…I wish you all the happiness because you deserve it , I am very jealous! If I could ask a question about what is your top shampoos you like and always repurchase?
best hair toner video! i was going to try blue food dye with shampoo as thats all id seen in diy toner but this is so helpful! ill def try this as my hair goes brassy constantly love from melbourne
I tried this for my very brassy hair after bleaching , it turned my ends blue/dark grey, not a good look on me, so then I had to do my diy fading mixture of lemon juice + vitamin c powder and shampoo and honey. that took me back to yellow , I probably left the blue rinsage in too long because I have very thick long hair and it takes a while to get it fully into all the hair. plus my ends are damaged and tend to grab to dye too much , I am glad it works for some just not for me.
It looks gorgeous. You are so brave to do all of this by yourself. But, I am sure you are very savvy and do a lot of research. Just a quick question. Once your silvers grow back in at the roots, how will you treat those?
This works great because she only used a small amount of color and than diluted it with shampoo. But their are easier ways to tone out brass. Most beauty supply stores like Sally’s have demi permanent toners that are more gentle on your hair than a box dye from the drug store. Make sure to pick up a toner that will neutralize the tone you don’t want. Purple toners will cancel out yellow, blue toners will cancel out orange “brassy” tones, and green toners will cancel out red tones.
Love the toned colour 🥰 How long does this last before hair goes brassy again? The toner i had done at salon faded after 2 washes and brass is back 😥😥😥
