- I show you how you can effectively brighten your blonde hair and tone it in one step using the Wella color charm toners. I have been a fan of Wella color charm toners for years, as it was my first uploaded toning video on RUclips. I love the range of this line as well as the beautiful tones you get from each level as well as the versatility of mixing and matching tones to achieve a perfectly balanced and personalized shade!
Here's a link to the Wella Liquid Toners I used to achieve this transformation:

It's amazing seeing this video after watching your first T18 and T11 mixture toning video. I remember watching it when I was first learning how to bleach and tone my own hair. I've successfully gone from level 4 brown to platinum and silver thanks to you! I personally want to say thank you for your videos and I hope you, Adam and baby are doing well! ❤️
Aw this comment makes me so happy. This is still my number 1 message that I get when I meet one of you in person!
@@Ellebangs can you point me to that original video with the T18 and T11? I can't find it.
I know you're known for your blonding videos, but you should do a tutorial on getting your curls/waves to look like this. It's so pretty.
Totally agree!
I will add it at to the list of new videos!
Yes please!!!!
Yes!! I’ve been trying so hard to get my hair styled like that, but it’s a struggle
Please include the layering techniques you use too! I have similar hair and struggle with how to ask my stylist to layer it
I have to thank you for the perfect timing of your video on this subject. I touched up my highlight/roots yesterday but did not have time to tone (which was going to be a first for me as a DIY). I had the T27 toner and was still a little foggy as to the details of what toner does. You came in right on time to teach me what i needed to know before doing this. I truly appreciate your guidance and eloquent explanations. You are a valuable contributor to your profession.
Thanks Love!
Hey Serena, just a question. I'm looking to touch up my roots/highlights like you did. Did you bleach your roots first, then tone the roots first and then rest of your highlighted hair? I have some regrowth I need to lighten first but I'm not sure when I put toner in, do I put it on roots first, let it sit for a few minutes then tone the rest of my hair. Any advice is appreciated x
Same here?😅
@@Ellebangs Hi Sylvia. Was your hair damp or dry when you applied this?
@@SoCalRegisteredNurseher hair was dry.
I tried this method with the t18 and t27 mixture for my balayage and love it!! This was my first time trying to tone my hair at home and it turned out perfectly blended! I don’t think it lightened any pieces, but just took the brassiness out of my blonde pieces. I’ve already gotten so many compliments☺️
Did it have any gold tones in it. I pull a lot of gold/brass no matter how light I go.
@s a hi..Did you already have blond or bleached hair? Otherwise it has to be lightened . Maybe try 30 Volume .I want to blond my brown Hair without using powder bleach gradually so I think using 30 Volume with ash blond colors every. 2 months will start gently lifting..20 volume just deposits color for Me..Be careful on your hair plz..Is she just using a toner or regular Wella hair color? I'm not a hair stylist like her but yah her hair really got blond. She doesn't have red tones at all so maybe for her it really blonds up easy than for Us
I want to try this ! Cause I do t want to pay $$ to redo it at the salon 🙁
Same I tried it my hair im already a blonde well blond balayage a level 7/8 more on the 8 side and it did absolutely nothing for me beside make my hair feel more dry and brittle 😢
Sylvia, the color your hair is now is the most BEAUTIFUL I have seen it, in all the years I have been following you. I love it!
YOUR HAIR IS ALWAYS HAIR GOALS!! literally can rock any colour 💖
Another video that has saved my hair, I really needed you today to be comfortable retoning my hair and it turned out beautifully✨💯 I can’t thank you enough for your easy step by step tutorials and amazing explanations!!
You are definitely influencing people with your mix of toners! I used your video to do my hair in 2014 and I met my husband that year. He loves to remind me how much he loved that hairstyle. 💜
Awe how sweet 🥰
When I was in cosmetology school I mistakenly died my hair in red, met my husband that year. He reminds me too of that color. Have been married for 20 years, so I would add strawberry blonde low lights when going to a salon 🥰
Due to my challenging curly hair, which many hairdressers shy away from, I've often managed it myself and appreciate your videos. However, Wella toners with PPD are harsh and messy. I've transitioned to Ion Bright Whites, which are PPD-free and cream-based. I hope you consider toning with these, though the shades can be hit or miss."
Absolutely love the blonde, but I also love your base. What colour would this be in a Wella colour ? I watched your previous video but I think it said a colour I'm not familiar with.
Thank you so much! Love your results and for explaining the process so easily. Your hair looks gorgeous! 👍🥰👏🏼
Thank you so much you helped a lot! I could not figure out what to do until I seen your video
So crazy I was looking for a review on this product and found your video I got the exact two shades of color charm at Sally’s and wanted to encorporate both! This video is perfect 😂
That's a gorgeous hair color. I think that color is called Toasted Coconut Blonde. That color is perfect with brown eyes. A brighter blonde looks better with a pale complexion. A brighter blonde would be something like Butter Blonde or Silver Blonde. I saw the Toasted Coconut Blonde color in a RUclips video called "New Blonde Colours 2022".
I was literally just thinking of how I need to tone my hair up and you read my mind! Love ya girl
I wish I had found your channel sooner😩 my hair has been through hell and back trying to achieve these results..I have since gone back to my brunette roots..
This method gave me the blonde I’ve always wanted. I’ve been successful with coloring and highlighting my curly hair at home, but it’s ALWAYS more golden/yellow than I want. I am finally a sandy blonde without being too ashy. I will use this toner combo forever, thank you so much for this tutorial!! ❤
Unfortunately it was short lived and the toner lasted only about a week. And seemed to really, really dry out my hair. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be using it again :(
@@KendraKat82that’s strange . Did you wash with shampoo & conditioner for color treated hair ?
@@passadonut yes I only use color safe natural products
@@KendraKat82toner never lasts very long unfortunately. Try only washing your hair once or twice a week, and use purple shampoo to keep the hair from repigmenting itself with the gold.
@@ALT-vz3jn I have a question 🙋♀️ Should I apply toner on wet or dry hair?
Your hair is off the charts beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing!
This was great! I'm a natural blonde and looking for something to brighten my hair up without using bleach. I found your high lift video the other day but still debating how I want to proceed. It's been so long since I've colored or bleached my hair and I don't want to be all over platinum like I once was. Also, having gone to cosmetology school almost 15yrs ago and stopped working in the field 10yrs ago, I've lost some of the knowledge. If you have any videos that I can watch, I'd love the recommendation! thank you for sharing!
You always give the best advice and show your actual work and how it looks on you. I did my hair today with three shades of the Color Charm. I needed to leave it on a little longer, but none the less. it gave me a great lift. Understanding how to tone blond hair has been my biggest challenge. I have tried a lot of other toners too. But this toner seems to work the best. I finally got a great hairdresser who works from her home. I am aging and my hair is graying. I am not going to give up on my blond color, but understanding how to get the beige or brass out of it, will help me look more appropriate and put together for my age. Thanks for all the great information you have given over these years. You have no idea how much it helps.
I always come back to wella permanent toner!
I venture out, even trying shades eq, and I always like my results with these better
Gorgeous Silvia 😍😍😍 My last visit I went for a pink toner just for fun and a change. I used my pink shampoo to keep it fresh for a couple of weeks. The last time I washed it I used my cleansing shampoo and deep conditioner, it's come out the most gorgeous iridescent pearl shade. I love having fun with toners, especially someone who is a level 3-4 naturally, really enjoying being a blonde. I've got a great hairdresser who never takes offence if I send him one of your videos for tips and I can tell him to do what he wants! Great when you have that kind of trust xxx
I LOOOOOOVE these type of videos!!!! And I don't even dye my hair!!!!! Thank you!!!
This is totally a sign i need to do my hair😊
Hahaha same here
It looks so beautiful!! 😮
Hey girl can you show us how to do a money piece and a little highlights
I love this! Ive been using Fenola and it doesnt work with my roots.. so Im actually going to try this!! Thank you sooo much for sharing this..
Hey girl thank you for sharing! I remember that 1st video too. What color are you using on your roots?
Happy Holidays!!!
This is the most informative video I’ve found! Thank you for being so thorough when you are explaining details.
Best video of all!!!!! Thank you doll!
Thank you for making this so clear.
Great video, thanks! Your videos have helped me keep my blonde hair beautifully toned over the past 10 years!
Btw, isn’t your baby due any day now?? 🤱🏼
I love it, thank you so much. I have a question: how often can we do it? Every three months maybe? I’m talking about someone with fragile hair…
Is liquid toner and 20 vol less damaging (or at all damaging) compared to doing lightener (bleach) and 20 vol?
I don't know the whole answer to this, but bleach is stripping your hair of pigments and is much stronger than toner. The toner lifts maybe 1 level or less. The bleach can lift several more levels, 3-4 levels I believe. Bleach eats away at what it touches, so it is much more potent than the toner.
This means that the bleach has far more potential for damaging the hair.
Hola, me encanta ver sus trabajos, son muy lindos, la felicitó, pero seria super que tradujeran para entender un poco más, gracias y bendiciones 🥺🙈🤗💐
Just what I need today!
Thank you, thank you for making videos like these!!! 👏🏼😎
You're a Godsend! I've been having trouble with toning my bleached hair as long as I can remember. You nailed it! Thank you and God bless!
Hi, what color do you recommend to blend with grey hair but don’t want to look older in your late 40’s?
I loved this video,thank you..
What color do u recommend for my roots?.my natural level is a 4 but I would like my roots like yours.i tried 7N but turns out reddish.im looking specifically for Wella
Gonna try this on brown hair
The toner did seem to lighten your brown nicely in the before and after even though you didn't apply it directly there. I can't stand how my highlights get kind of dingy as I do my root cover up.
Can you share the follow up to your color application in the description ? Like What hair products you actually used go shampoo and condition?
Did you use a gloss or can a glss be added to this at the same time ??? Your hair looks sooo much shinier so i am curious what your using for the condition and shine???
Congratulation for your youtube Channel your video are awesomeeee 😍
I have a funny request, is it possible that you realize a new video on RUclips where you make a funny hairstyle on a boy hair ( mohawk or spike ? ) With gel!
It will be very cool!
Thank you So much!
Comparing the photos Before and After your roots are much lighter after. Did you treat them too ? Thank you.
Hey Elle what do you think of t 10 and t 18. I have highlights but need them toned a softer look. Thanks
Thanks for sharing
And looking forward to your new baby video!💝
So my hair issue since going with an ombré affect is that I can not update baby lights & do a root tap in the same day without the root color over toning the fresh baby lights like I never did them.😏
So I guess I’ll have to alternate processes?
What difference does it make if you tone your hair wet or dry? I always thought it was suppose to be wet
Dry hair is more porous so it may suck up the toner in the extra porous parts, which are usually the ends of your hair. That stuff is the oldest and it’s been around bleach a time or two or six (I love bleach) as opposed to fresh regrowth. Porous ends will also suck up water, so it you hit them with water then hit then with toner, the water fills the porosity a lil bit for a more even color distribution. I am a bleach queen so I wet my hair and put some conditioner on my ends to fill them before throwing the toner on. Otherwise I think the last couple inches of my hair would end up way overtoned while the rest looks ok
I thought FL meant “full ounce” forever, then I realized it stood for “Fluid Ounce” 😅
Clear Glossing !!!
Can we do a video on how to use a toner on the top of the balage to coll down the brown and how to melt into the blonde toner
Love your video ...im going to try this today. Can you please tell what your base color is? I love it ❤️
I try toning my roots because it’s brassy but when I try it turns my roots orange and lifts my roots when I didn’t want that, how do you fix this? What should you use?
Does this work on non-colour treated hair (blonde hair)?
Wow looks great ! I used an ash blonde color once and it made my hair look gray ! But it didn’t do that to yours
Great videos but I have a problem, I live in Spain and these products are not sold here, nor Redken thet you use in your videos. Could you make a video using something similar but we can buy in Europe. I suppose I am not the only one watching you from this part of the world. Congratulations for your baby, she is beautiful.
What if I have really small highlights and there's no way of not getting it on my lighter brown pieces? Will it lift those to an orange color?
If that brown is your virgin hair it will lift it orangy but if it's already been colored especially with permanent color it will probably just pull little warmer tone.
If permanent toner touches brown hair it will lift it. In your case I recommend a gloss toner or lowering the developer.
T18 T27 wella charm toner your using is a credit to you for fab hair 💕
So many articles on not to tone on dry hair. Yours looks beautiful. I am doing mine tomorrow but it's all bleached is there a difference between wet or dry application?
You can’t find these products in Europe 😢
Hopefully, someone can chime in. Are the toners really permanent , if you say, use a 10 developer instead?
Whenever I used toners, they were not permanent!
Me rushing to Sally's now praying its in stock 🤣
hey there, love the video, what is the darker color on your hair? I would love to get that color
What a lovely shade/ tone . I will try this combination for winter holidays. ❤️ You look as beautiful as when I watched your first toning videos.
We need video using Wella color charm for Low Lights More brown tones beautiful caramel tones….
Unfortunately the Redken Shades EQ is not available for purchase online , Big mistake for Redken
I’m new to toning my hair. QUESTION: is your hair supposed to be damp while toning? I’ve heard mixed answers to this
This worked out so well. What do you recommend to keep that toner in. I felt like last time it only lasted for 2 weeks. I always was cool water.
Question, do you shampoo & conditioner after toner? Love your videos - so amazing!!
If I put it on the roots to brown/gray, would it lift it to orange or will it just provide a colour base?
After doing baylayage or babylights can u use these on the roots and all over or just the roots?
BEAUTIFUL❤️❤️❤️
For those of us needing the 10 volume developer.. what brand would you recommend to use with the Wella toners???♡
Sensitive Scalp by Ion (@ Sally Beauty)
Always use the coordinating developer with their color line for optimal results.
@@Kimberly-hk6kp thank you 😊

I’ve had great results with L’Oréal Cream Developer.
Does t11 and t18 work with darker blonde and lighter browns too?
Hi there! I have a question 🙋🏻♀️ I just Bleach my hair and tone my hair on Sunday, I used Wella T18 I left it about 20 minutes and I wash my hair but it I still have some Orange color on my hair, can I
Be able to Tone my hair on next day? Thank you so much for sharing.
what would happen if you never put developer on? I am a real newbie. I have some very light blond highlights and just want to add some color and get rid of some of the warm tones, kind of refresh. I do not want to do any damage at all, my hair really didn't love the major stripping that was done already. Would it work to just put the color on? Also how many washes would it last?
I have been watching your videos for a while now and decided to leave a positive comment that will hopefully inspire others to try this at home. Because it works!
For reference, I’m a natural brunette with long voluminous hair. I had the balayage done a few years back and paid $350 to get my hair so damaged I had to do a long Bob.
Because of covid, not being able to go back to the salon, I found myself experimenting at home. First mistake I made, I tried henna. I KNOW!!! Trying to go down the healthy route, BUT, I’m past my 30’s with grays on my sideburns and dark tones just makes me look older. SO, I decided to gradually get rid of the henna by getting regular trims, doing clarifying shampoos and color correcting at the salon to get the green/blue tones off. As you all know, these color correction sessions can get very pricey.
Now that I only have 2-3 inches left of the henna (green/blue tones) left at the ends, I headed to a Sally store and bought “Quick Blue bleach by L’Oréal with 30 developer and did a few strands of baby lights, keeping a slide in between and weaving the second slide I bleached, not touching the roots at all, a couple in the back for when I pick up the hair, a few at the crown on both sides for parting in the middle, and a few up front diagonally for framing the face. I left it for about 30 minutes to get a light honey color. Washed the hair and blow dried the roots. I followed up with AGEbeautiful 7A with 20 developer for a root touch up, waited about 30 minutes and added Wella’s T18 mixed with the T27 and 20 developer to the entire hair and waited about 20 minutes then washed and did a deep conditioning treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results! The colors blended beautifully, no brassiness on the root or mid shaft sections, and small amount of very pale bluish on the ends from the old henna. I let it air dry about 50% (to minimize damage) then gently blow dried and cut about an inch off.
I only spent $37 of product and still have bleach, toner and developer left!!!
Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, very educational and helpful!
Hi there!! Many thanks for you videos!!! Amazing hair and so easy to follow. I was trying to purchase colorcharm toners in Spain. But it seems it is not available here. Would you recommend another Wella products I could achieve the same or similar result???
How did you get those cute baby lights that start at the root? Did I miss you putting the toner up there? There’s way may dimension going on that what we saw applied
I'm that person who has medium reddish brown hair who wants a sandy blonde color. It takes a two step process to do this, no one step will work. All that color has to come out, no other way to do it. Then the color I want has to be put in. Can you do a video on this? My hairdresser is closing shop and I can't get it anymore.
Thank you 🙏
Love this method! I have grey roots so I’ll just do my base first then this method rather than baby lights. I like more contrast anyway. Thx 🙌🌻
I have grey also.. I put the toner and developer on my roots and blonde hair, and it lifts my roots enough to not see the grey and blends it all in together better between my big colorings I do!
@@thehippie2897 Glad that’s working! I like a level 7 base that looks grown out, like a shadow root I guess. I’m finding now that I have more grey I think I need to add a little 6. Plus I don’t have a chlorine filter on my house so it washes out right quick!
@@kt9495 ah I gotcha.. I have the same problem! I’ve been looking at filters from Amazon that screw onto your shower head to get the chemicals out of mine.. even using purple shampoo doesn’t tone mine very well :/
@@thehippie2897 The blonde struggle is real!
oh my god, this hair color is so beautiful 😍 i wish i would get it the same way. Unfortunately, the wella charm toner does not exist in Germany and I have to look for something comparable. As far as I understand correctly, the color mix is a mixture of ice blonde and beige blonde, right? i love love love your hair color😍
Hi Silvia, I love your lipstick you are wearing in the start of your video only just been searching for that colour. Could you tell me the name of it, I looked back on your videos and saw you use baby doll NYX but it looks kinda creamy so wasn't sure if it's the same one.😉👄
🌺GORGEOUS
What would happen if you applied this on naturally darker parts of hair?
Yes please
@@amandaschelonka6838it might turn a bit orange
It would lift about one level from your natural level and tone with a level 8.
@@justbecause9049that’s absolutely false. Toners, including Wella Color Charm Toners, are deposit only - Meaning they do not lighten, they only deposit pigment.
@@adina3901 It’s not false. If you use a 20 volume as she recommends, it will lift your darker hair a shade, possibly 2 if you leave it on longer.
Can someone tell me why Brad Mondo was saying that he cannot stand to see people using the Wella t18?
Can i ask you, if its OK to mix 3 colourcharm toners together? Ive lightened my lengths and darkened my roots and ready to tone. I bought the t18, t27 and the t14 just wondering if you think that is too much or just stick to mixing 2 shades? Thank you
Can I mix t14 and t27!? I have more orangey tones so I think t14 would help since it has a blue tone to it but it’d be super useful to hear some advice on this!
Loved it! What is the base tone?
Can you tell me where you got this instrumental version of seasons of love from rent?. I Love it!
HOW is your hair so shiny????????? ive done it all and mine still looks like a toilet brush
Love your videos and your hair and make up! So beautiful. I tried this on my light brown hair with previous highlighted/balayage ends from mid way but it didn't lift/lighten it as much as I had hoped as yours did. What should I do to make it lighter? :)
Maybe use a 20 developer?
Been watching (blonde) and using this method since 2018!
Why are front highlights called “Money pieces” ?
I have dark roots balayage hair if I applied this to my hair roots will it make it dark? Which toner is good to make my roots blend with my light ends??
Could you show toning with wella shinefinity?
But wait. Why does her hair look the same in the beginning and end??
I did a low and highlight and she wanted more blonde but after toning and a root wash it ended up adding in some warmer tones. I lifted to a level 9/10 and used EQ natural light blonde mixed with EQ light medium beige.
So can I use the wella t18 and t27 with 20 developer on the golden pieces?🎉
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing. Do you recommend applying this toner to cover/blend grey hairs?
Wondering the same. Wanting to try it on my highlights with grey roots.
You look beautiful my hair is bleach almost 2 years and is Almost silver white, but I still see like yellow high light, what can you recommend about this,I use purple shampoo, but still, thank you
Great video!! What colors would you suggest for toning my blond as I am growing out my salt and pepper grey? I would love to look like i have ash highlights as this isn't a fun transition!!!
This might be a silly question - but does this work for undyed dark blonde hair? It seems I’m better off using the Wella Colorcharm instead of dyeing it and then using the Wella Colorcharm
