I've personally used Ion lightener and developer and my scalp was on fire (even tho it says it's for sensitive scalp), then tried Clairol Soyplex developer and it made a HUGE difference (no burning), but I'm switching to your routine, it makes sense to get the highest quality, salon-grade products only. Your hair and your friends' hair look amazing!

You did a thing and I must show love and respect here. I have worked in several salons in NY city Madison ave, Soho and Flatiron. I have seen frylights and chemical cuts served daily by so called renowned professionals or busy clients on business calls. Lightner does not care about social media addiction or clients busy work life, emergency long calls or food cravings outside the salon. Especially when it comes to single process with bleach or platinum color goals and processing time. You did a fantastic job and sound professional teaching others here. I just bleached with loreal quickblue and 30 vol developer. 50 mins x 2 with shower cap on. Waited 2 days did 1 time more. It is perfectly white and I absolutely LOVE it. No toners or anything additional needed. Cheap and easy. I have a buzz cut so if it hadn't worked I'd be ok too. I would definitely heavy condition before and after ( and during the waiting period ) if you have more hair.
The fact you barely have any hair and had to do it 3 times at 30vol for 50 mins is not a good sign. Glad you are happy with it but I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone. That risks their hair falling out.

Thank you so much for doing this video, I have been bleaching my own hair off and on for over 30 years. Also several salons. My hair is naturally brown and grabs alot of orange when bleaching, usually I have to use a 40dev and leave on on until my hair is damaged to get blonde. This worked the first time, no orange or yellow. You are a life saver.

The redken toner is out of stock right now, but you had links posted for the Schwarzkopf toners and I was wondering, When you use the Schwarzkopf toner, steel blue and ice do you mix them?
What is the ratio for toner and developer? And how long do you leave that on for? Also, you only used the redkin lightening powder not the Schwarzkopf. Do I need to get both?

@@brendaarteaga2664 this is the same brand my stylist used. So I did a lot of research and took the gamble to do it myself. Through out the years I've tried different beach and toners. And this is by far is very gently on your scalp and lifts fast. Just follow the instructions on the label. I use the Blue Steel toner and its icy white.

If your hair is naturally very dark, I highly suggest you stick with your stylist...You get what you pay for..If you're happy with how they do it, why change 🤷? There's a reason why stylists charge that price.
Guess it depends where you go! My hair stylist only charges me $180 that’s doing a full foil with toner to get my hair looking icy! I have some brown in my hair because I haven’t decided to do the full switch to complete blonde but I love my hair stylist and how she does it and she’s been doing hair for I think 20 years! It also could be because I don’t go to some fancy salon, she works for hair cuttery and she’s a senior stylist which means they are the best of the best at hair cuttery! My mom goes to her too and only pays probably alittle over a $100 for a full foil but my mom has less hair and thinner hair. Obviously a full foil is not a full bleach but every time you go do a full foil your hair looks more and more blonde each time! But I do think this girl did a great job and I would def follow this if I ever couldn’t do my stylist
When you do the toner, do you cover only the area that was recently bleached, or do you pull it through the whole mane? Also, how long do you leave the toner on? I know this video is years old, and I see other questions that were never replied to, but perhaps you or someone managing your page could provide a little extra insight? Thank you!

Just a tip: you can use 20 volume with blondeme even on dark hair cause I do and my hair and it’s a level 3. 30 and 40 just lift fast and 20 will lift the same only slower. And you ONLY use 10 vol or lower with toner, never 20. :)
I like using 20vol with the ion cuz it just gives a little bit of a lift! I don’t notice it tone much with the 10. But any other toner I just stick with 10.
I have used 20 volume for toning and turn it into a 10 Volume by adding hair conditioner.
Just 1/2 20 volume + 1/2 hair conditioner will make a 10 volume.
If you want less than 10 add more conditioner.

My favorite toner is the ion hi lift ash blonde 🤗🤗 gets hair WHITE if you lift it to a level 10 first. If I want my hair to look more “natural” blonde instead of ashy, Ill also mix in ion level 9 mushroom blonde so they’re half and half. It’s a really good combo, like a Scandinavian blonde. Ion is more accessible for me than redken. Plus, those toners you have to use every 6-8 weeks but permanent color is permanent so i think it’s healthier for the hair because it retains the perfect color and you don’t have to keep putting your hair though the processing. You got a really great result!! Id trust you with my hair 💗

The reason u start back to front is because hair in the back of your head needs more processing time it can be more stubborn to lighten. But u know what u r talking about props 🙌

Also the reason we start at the back of the head is, because the top of your head releases more body heat, therefore the lightner will process faster at the top. She did a really good job though!
Question: I have medium dark roots and highlighted shoulder length hair. I just highlighted a couple days ago so I should wait for about 1/2 inch grow out to do what you're doing here and NOT apply the bleach to the entire head, just the roots right?
SO, question...what if your roots are virgin, but your ends are not? Can I put this all throughout my hair? I would say I have about 8 inches of highlights, and then about 5 inches of grown out. ??? thank you!!! your hair looks fab.

love your process and products my hair allways goes yellow at the roots when I go to the salon they leave the toner in too long then when it fades its still yellow underneath plus I have a lot of breakage at the ends this is over yrs of trying to grow my hair long I used to do it myself for yrs but now struggl to do the back and the salon is soo expensive. my hair is also very brittle and dry I just can't retain length it's really getting me down cos I use olaplex no 3 and 8 and other good products plus oil in the ends but it's still very fry frizzy and brittle and is breaking off on the ends plz can you recommend some products to try x

I spend... $30 maybe 2 times a year and cut my own hair and always have. I get anxious in salons and learned dying my hair so young and cuting it. Oh and I do my own nails. ;)

The bottom hair has been bleached before right? When you take a shower do you notice that your hair breaks off where the old bleach started at? Im asking because ive bleached my roots several times as it has grown and now i have way less hair than before. 😫😫 and as much as i want to kep bleachin my roots im scared that at the end im going to end up with short boy hair!! 😭😭😭

My 1st question is when using the Ion Icy do I apply that to my hair while it's wet? I pulled my hair thru a cap & used kaleidoscope bleach w 20 vol about 2wks ago. 2nd- Can I go ahead & use the Ion Icy now to Tone. And last question sorry ... Guess this is 3 questions..

The Redken SEQ is the key.....im a stylist myself....the T TITANIUM series is excellent....thr reason for this is the Titanium series is a Silver/Blue base with a background of grey ......it simplifies the grey look so much.... the issue is that blue if just a background of blue will turn the yellow or even pale yellow short of a greenish cast.... and I believe that Redken knew this when they created this series and very smartly put a silver-gray background to it to stop this from happening..... I've had clients that were pale yellow almost to the yellow side and they do not want silver but they wanted more of a medium gray look used a 9T or 8T... this just determine the level that they wanted the gray to be how dark they want the grey........ the excellent thing about Redken Shades EQ is that if you have a darker shade of a 9T or 8T you can customize it with clear to create 10T ....and it's what I've used before level 10 came out....
Hi: can I get platinum at home using these methods when my hair is gray since I am 71 but I now have a light blonde hair colour over the gray I know that gray hair will turn yellow if bleached, but if I have the blonde over it could I then try to go platinum at home? Thanks.

If lifted to level 9 or 10 then 9T shades EQ be perfect or 8T ....to Tone on Level ....if silver is the desired shade if more iridescent pearl platinum try 9P if your a level 9 pale yellow or almost white naturally....if using box dye...iove swartzkopt Silver....perfect shade over level 9 or maybe 8 blonde hair....not sure what blonde color you've got but I would try to fade it before going platinum with either head n shoulders masque....if demi perm and if permanent I'd try a color remover....Ion makes a great color remover....comes in a packet need to apply even hear for 15-45 minutes

I want to know how to go all silver/grey on salt/pepper hair. The "pepper" portion my natural hair color, very dark brown almost black while the "salt" is a combination of charcoal gray to gray to silver to white on the top.
Same process just different toner with more blue violet in it. Of course the lifting process will be more difficult for you since you have darker pigment in some of your hair. Suggest finding an experienced colorist in your area to do this for you

The lightener I use lifts up to 8 levels! You could always do two rounds! But I understand it can be a little scary haha

You might want to go in stages. For now tone it something ginger or copper for a few weeks and let it recover. Lot's of masks and bond builder to help it recover before you go again with the bleach 😊

she said use the bright white ION by Sallys OR use both Redken Lavender Ice and Delicate Natural, use 20 volume developer, and just to a test strand. EASY.

Well… I did it! Lol, 20 minutes and I will wash it out and mask it for moisture and then wash again and then we will see. I am going for grey, but it looks like it will be as white as yours… but I was going for an icy grey. The color was the lavender ice… either way I’m excited and I haven’t lost too much hair in the process…. It’ll grow back! Lol… just having fun! 🥰

Does the Schwarzkoph Dev with the powder make that big a difference in lift? You mention it is creamier and not as harsh smell but I can tolerate that I dont notice it after 5-10 min but im using Sally's (or wella?) Dev with blondme
And where can I get my hands on redken shades eq? Im in Canada and theres no where to get it gets that is NOT insanely marked up (redken like 48$ a bottle on Canada Amazon..)

My hair is graying but still darkish.....I wanted my stylist to add just a few white strands. The first time she did it, it turned out like gold highlights. yuck. The next time I asked her to make them white she said she coudn't because my hair still had red in. Is she correct?

Hello I get a little confused when it comes to toner's cause I hear a lot of other certified hair dressers say to only use a 10 volume developer with a toner so I'm asking why do you use a 20 volume developer are you trying to get more lift cause just seems a little odd when 10 volume with a toner is supposed to only deposit color. I wanted to know what if I wanted to do a sort of root smudge look where I don’t bleach to my roots but rather I try to fade my foot color into the bleached area, is this something that can be kept up with or you won’t be able to bleach over it once it grows out? I usually do a shadow root and it fades by the time I need to touch up my roots (5 weeks) I use pravana with zero lift, it’s similar “glossing” and color deposit to shades eq .

Do you ever do a shadow root after bleaching for more depth / dimension at the root?
The only reason I don’t do that, is because I’ve done it before and it ends up just taking more bleaching once it grows out.
I’m sure if you’re looking for more dimension you could root smudge and then touch it up with highlights when it grows out.
