    Hey everyone.
    I decided to film a video of me talking about what products I use to dye my own blonder hair. I havent gone to a salon in a couple years. It is just way too expensive. I get compliments all the time on my blonde hair so I figured I would share what products I use.

    I love your video!!! Im a hair colorist that loves clairol! Heres a fun little fact about hi lift colors. If you want super lift process for at least 60min. The box says 45min but I found through classes and experience that processing at least 60min or more will result in the full 5 levels of lift. I do wanna mention that clairol and wella are essential the same company (like loreal and redken). If you want a real good toner try manic panic virgin snow it works well and its fool proof. When I was new at bleaching my own I would use it and it would not over tone.

    At home, I’d say stick to 20v and go slow. Your hair looks awesome, a little too cold/platinum, which I bet you already knew, but hey, getting there in the first place is half the battle, and sometimes it better to just stay and be proud and happy. I wouldn’t say go golden, I do like the deeper color at your roots. It looks like you worked some magic on some orange-yellow roots. Your hair looks healthy and silky. As for the coolness or the icy like blue tonality to the hair, you got there! You did it! Wow! I wish they had more stuff out on the market that would allow for a modest violet or blue effect. Like, ultra cool, medium cool where you don’t retain yellow it just isn’t as bright, and the subtle blue, where the hair isn’t yellow, but you don’t move as dramatically through the spectrum like bleach, but across the yellow colors to a more mute one, like almost like sun-kissed platinum, that way you can get more highlights out of the hair too.
    It’s good, very impressive.
    We need white gold toner and dye!

    I might try this. I’ve been using the ion light cool blonde but I feel like it’s fading out. I also know what you mean about the Wella toner lol I tried the T18 once and didn’t realize that I should not leave it on that long and my hair turned a dark gray 😱! Omg I cried for days! My beautiful blonde hair was GONE! I did some research and found that lemon 🍋 juice will remove the toner, you have to put in on your hair and let it sit for about 15 minutes or more than wash, then make sure you condition the hell out of it lol. Because lemon juice will really open the cuticles of your hair. I guess we all have that one horrible hair story to tell. I have to touch up my roots and I’ve been using high ion hair color and it’s not working out so I’m looking for something else.

      Jade Lacombe the Ion high lift cool blonde is amazing, it does lift 5 levels with 40 vol if left for maximum time that says on the instructions. All high lift dyes actually lift 5 levels if used as per instructions. But your result will depend on the base level you are starting with. If your hair is darker than level 5 then the result will be darker and more orange. These high lift dyes are designed for levels 5 and up. Anything darker than level 5 will result in orange hair. I have level 5 natural hair and I can get a level 8.5 - 9 with the High level with 40vol, I use Matrix Ultra Blondes Series UL-A+ (Ultra Ash +) which gives 5 levels of lift with 40 vol but because my base level is so dark (level 5 is pretty much dark, it is a medium brown), it has to get through all those red-orange shades when lifted and that is why if lifted to level 9 with high lift it actually looks more like a level 8.5 which is golden blonde. I actually love the warm tones and they suit me so I don't mind the golden blonde I get at all, I actually love the way it comes and I don't even bother to tone it to cool because golden blonde is exactly that I wanted in the first place but if you really want a cool blonde and you have a level 5 or darker base then you better use bleach and tone to lift it cleaner. But if you are dark and are happy with a golden blonde then high lift is the best as it does not damage your hair the way bleach does. But as I said, if your hair is level 5 or darker, expect it to get orange or gold. The darker the hair is the more orange it gets when lightened and that is with any high lift dye you use... Ion is really good, they all give you pretty much the same result if used as it says on the instructions. I use Matrix because it also has Fortibond technology and they have a series with double pigment which has an even more neutralisation control and the result is really nice. But still gold :)

     @BobbieRaeBeauty I am now moved to France, and it is extremely difficult to find Clairol here...Buy you inspired me with your amazing hair color and your hair in general that looks shiny and healthy, to the point that I did the impossible...lol, I ordered Clairol from the USA. But the color available was 12AA-HL-B (B=blue, it exist also in BV = bleu+violet, but it is impossible to order it from here) Now I have SEVERAL WEEKS to wait if I am lucky. :) LOL. I am dying to see the results... If you, or someone living in the USA, could try next time the 12AA-HL-B and eventually 12AA-HL-BV (both available at sally beauty) and tell me if it is better and cancels the brassiness even better than 12A. I would be happy to know which one (B or BV should I buy) ...:). Personally blue shampoos work even better on me than violet ones, so B might be not a bad idea. My base is level 6, I think, pretty much like yours, I think :)

      I have used the 12 AA-bv and I got the best ash blonde results of any home hair color blonde I’ve ever used….it’s the absolute best and I hope your hair comes out perfect for you. I think I used 30 volume but I’m not positive. My natural color is light ash/ neutral brown and I usually struggle with gold and yellow tones which bug the heck outta me. Good luck!

    • @VincentBalducci
      @VincentBalducci 4 года назад +1

      Excellent question! This product is a hi lift color so it does not cover blonde because it has far less pigment and more lifting ammonia. If you were to try to use this on gray hair you run the risk of the white hair taking the color of the base so it would be a green blue or purple. On some clients in the salon I have used foils of a hi lift neutral (N) it made a brightened effect but no coverage.

    • @alexandrastefan9319

      Jhess Souza - the darker your base level is the more orange the result comes out. If you have level 5 hair or darker, the result will be orange-gold. Anything darker than level 5 will get really orange. High lift dyes are designed for lighter bases - usually level 6 and up. Matrix has a series for level 5 and up (but not darker than level 5) with double pigments which gives you a more neutralised result. But on my level 5 hair the result is golden blonde which I happen to love. But for people who want ashy results and they have dark hair, they have to bleach and tone. High lift dyes are for level 5 and up. Anything darker needs to be bleached and toned. You can't blame the dye for not getting a good result...or say it did not lift 5 levels..if your hair is black, let's say you are starting with a level 3, then lifting 5 levels means that you get a level 7.5-8 which is orange-gold. So if your hair is orange then it means your base is darker than level 5 and when it lifts the high lift dye has not enough power to neutralise your orange.

      Sandra Sms Well her hair looks pretty good and I think it is probably better to bleach your roots once rather than twice if it doesn’t lift enough.

    • @alexandrastefan9319
      @alexandrastefan9319 4 года назад +4

      Sandra Sms - unless you are a professional hairdresser (which I don't think you are otherwise you would not say this), 40 vol with high lift DOES NOT RUIN YOUR HAIR! 40 volume used with bleach DOES ruin your hair! High lift dyes are designed to be used with 40 vol, they work differently than bleach, have different ingredients and they react with the developer differently. They need 40 vol for optimal power and they will not ruin your hair if used as per manufacturer instructions. Always use the manufacturer's instructions and your will not ruin your hair. The manufacturer recommends high lift dyes to be used with 40 vol so they would not recommend this if you had to ruin your hair. Tint works differently than bleach! 40 vol with bleach is definitely not recommended especially on scalp. Please do a bit of research before advising people!

      @@alexandrastefan9319 Thank you for such a long and informative reply. Could you please give me some advice? I currently have bad highlights/balayage which I want to 'cancel' with full blond coverage. Highlights and balayage were done about 2 months ago. And now my hair is a mixture of 3-4 levels: base/roots about level 6, balayage level 7/8 and highlights level 8 + ends level 9/10. There is this technique by Russian hairdressers which use different highlight brands to achieve amazing results. BUT! She does not respect manufacturing guidelines...So, the question is: how can I use Clairol 12AA - HL- B to even my color? Use that technique ou just follow our gorgeous Bobbie? :)
