Hi @heidi! I'm a hair specialist too and I use this Igora highlighter to do highlights and keep the hair healthy. I recommend you use a plastic cap next time and heat with a blow dryer every 10 minutes. The heat will help you to get the brightness faster.
I completely understand your resistance and hesitation towards bleach now. So sorry that all happened. It's important to remember that a low volume bleach can be safer than a high volume high lift colour. Bleach does not have to be the devil. Watch out for the double 40 volume that is required with high lift; it can be very damaging as well. Thanks for sharing all of your experiences and products.
Permanent color, including high lift shades, are a completely different chemical make up than bleach. They react differently to high developers than lightener because their properties are different. The lift from color isn’t based on developer but on the strength of the lifting agent in the the tube of color. Two color lines can give different levels of lift even if both mixed with the same developer because of this. Also, because permanent color has a lower ph, doesn’t light as much as bleach and only processes for a limited time (lightener works for as long as it’s wet) it is not as damaging as bleach. But that doesn’t mean bleach is evil! I love both 😅
@@bettylouis795 Very true - good points. But the fact you have to leave the double 30/40 mixture on your hair for an hour is quite damaging and will become more so over time if you overlap. Still, I agree with you.
Hi Heidi, i also have a tip for the parts of your hair that are to blond/broken and ashy. Put a good hair mask on those parts before coloring. You could also put a toner/gloss on the whitest/greyest parts with golden tones for a few minutes so it fills the hair again with pigments. Something like the 10.03 from the kevin murphy gloss line
Hello Heidi, I love your uploads! I just wanted to let you know that your hair is looking so much better & I appreciate your recent videos. Me & my chihuahua, Hercules, are sending you & Bianca love 💖✨
Looking good 🌞. For a root smudge there are hire a few videos on RUclips using Redken shades EQ. They are not traditional numbering tone system so need to know exactly which one would work and really look at the swatches. Also Guy Tang's range has something similar. It might be safer to go to an experienced hairdresser who knows how it will interact with your base colour/s and not overlap on the sections you cannot see! With multiple half head applications and nape left virgin, the hair cut tends to steer towards a mullet due the the trims needed on the front processed sections. You may be able to circumvent some of this with rich oil masks on the processed areas and keeping heat to a bare minimum 😀
So far so good with maintaining your blonde hair and get it a better condition. However I would advise you to overlap only once on the already orange band and that’s it. Further down will create more damage than I would suggest and also gives the blonde a muddy color - especially on fine hairline hair. You can also switch things up and use Igora highlift 12-0 around your hairline if you really have first greys so they remain a beige blonde color and not turn blue😅 Second I would not process the color for longer than 50-60mins it should be done by that because if you overlap the alkalinity will be on the hair for so long one hour should usually give you time for lift AND deposit. I would honestly just use one hair mask and then a leave in and an oil. That’s it not two or three but just because the hair after coloring should be conditioned and then dried not washed and washed and washed. It is still fragile so rather use the treatments after 3 days each time you need to wash. Also I would use the Igora royal developer 30vol because this one was formulated for the use of the color. The blonde me is not wrong but formulated for the blonde me range so it’s ph level might be optimized for that line within Schwarzkopf. Other than that pretty good work 👍🏼
You comment and tips and gold ! Thank you for helping me out! Do you think it would be possible to leave a shadow root with my natural base but keep using highlift only?
