Fantastical! I’m so blown away by this. I’ve been coloring my hair for years and love playing with colors and pigments, and I’ve watched hundreds of not thousands of tutorials. Yours is the first that took color theory to such an artistic and thoughtful direction that now I’m rethinking color all together. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your brilliance, this is life changing.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! As a professional hairstylist, I’ve always had this issue! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this detailed video! I was formulating to counteract the underlying pigment left at the end result & not every level of underlying pigment along the way. Will be trying this newly learned way of formulating in the morning on a client. Thank you so much!!!
Absolutely! I did the same that you were at first, this method took me some thinking when I first learned it. Then when I put it to the test I was amazed.
I was just about to say I can’t wait to give this a shot. I’ve always formulated for end result as well, so I am super eager to try this formulation method.
This is my first video of yours. You are legit the bees knees. You KNOW what you are talking about. I learned so much in this one video. I will subscribe. I will share this video.
Ive been doing my own hair for ten years now on and off, and although i do pretty well , ive always had to take unnecessary steps to correct my color on my own resulting in multiple steps you dont ever experience at a salon.. ultimately resulting in the cost being MORE at home than w a professional… so in saying that. Watching so many videos about formulation and bleaching and hi lift. This is the only video ive seen that really slapped me across the face and made everything ive learned so far actually make sense and cut out all bs ive run into. Youre very smart, you know your stuff and you explained it in a way that can be difficult to convey. You are a natural teacher. I hope you are doing well in life. Im just wowing my face off over here. I wish i could do hair professionally! I am hue blind. So i always have to call my friends and ask them to match my color so i know what to do next. So idk that i could ever do it professionally one day, that would kill someones confidence in me if one ever knew. But ughhhh i am literally obsessed w hair color and blonding. Its all i ever think about. Thanks so much for this video its awesome!🎉
This is greatttt advice! The last part about the colour vs developer / activator ratios really makes sense -- I mix on a 1 to 1.5 colour: W 30 vol developer ratio to cover my mum's greys ... Works every time!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Angelo! I have always loved hi-lift color, but never had the counteractions explained quite that way before, makes it seem much easier! Fantastic!!
Fabulous advice! So a quickie, natural level 5, with 60% grey. Would this Wella formula work: 30g 12/0, 20g 12/22, 10g 12/81 & 5g 12/61 and 130g 40 vol or would 30 vol be better?
@@cf2753 good thinking, I like where you brains at. With grey it can be tricky. I’d recommend doing a test in the back area of the head. I’d suggest 10 more grams of 12/0. BUT remember that this would be an experiment. High lift color and gray coverage is not always a guarantee. So just keep that in mind, you don’t want it going too green or gray/violet
Finally someone who explained what I had been searching for in such an easy way. Since I'm not a hairdresser but mess with my own color often I'm excited to try some HL color.
This was incredible thank you for sharing. Im a wella fan so it's great to see this formulation. Also, I don't do too many high lifts or color on virgin hair because I know it shows up warm. But I have to say to this in perspective on using different tones to cancel out the different undertones one by one really was an eye opener so thank you 🫶
Thank you so much! Im going from a level 6 or 7 natural brown to (hopefully) platinum and this helped me figure out which Wella products to purchase and how to use them!
@@angeloterracciano8222 my hair is at a level 8 and want to get to the 12/96 range .. how can I achieve this and what brand of hi lift do you recommend?
@@sailormoonXx without seeing and feeling the hair in person is hard to recommend and exact formula. But in theory, I’d say wella professionals 2 parts 12/81 And 1 part 12/61 with double 40 vol. That should get you the lightest blonde and the most neutral to cool tone.
You have explained hair colors in amazing way. I have been to 5 stylists and watched numerous videos for the last month and none of them explain like you. ❤ I do have a question. Now it makes sense. You are awesome at explaining color theory. You sound like a great teacher/mentor. So the result of this formula would be a level 9 neutral/natural blonde. Is that correct?.
1) Can you use this method on a natural colour of base 4 with 40% of grey (salt and pepper)? 2) And if so, is it as damaging on the hair as using bleach? 3) is this placed as foils or all over? Best info I've found.🙌 I realize this vid is 3 yrs old ...still hoping I can get some help.🙏🤞 2 quick ?'s: 1) If going from level 7 vs. 5, should I just use 1 part of the 1st color instead of 3 parts? 2) What does the "double" mean re: the 30 or 40 vol developer? (I'm not a professional...just do my own, at home - usually with Ion hi-lift 12.2 & 30 vol.) ~ Thx in advance for help/advice.✌😊
Well, I can at least answer your second question... the "double" he means regarding the 30 or 40 vol is pouring twice as much developer than the amount of the hair color dye. So if you are using a hi-lift 12.2, let's say 30grams, then for developer you'd add 60 grams. (With regular color, non-hi-lift, you'd usually mix 30grams color, 30 grams developer, so 1 to 1 ratio but with hi-lift color, you mix 1 to 2 ratio) Hope that helps!

Or even 15, 10, 5. Does that make sense?
Thanks for such great information
Hello! This video was very helpful! I'm going to try using these exact products to color my natural roots at home. I'm level 6, with some grey hair popping out here and there. What do you suggest to use, volume 30 or volume 40 developer? And should I use any toner afterwards? Thank you in advance! Have a nice day!
im just new to your channel.. I would like to ask if you dont mind sir..
Should I mix all the 3part of colorant or should I apply them seperately?? Thank You In advance sir

@@angeloterracciano8222 Thank you so much .... Im really enjoying your vids sir.
More videos please you have the best talent can you do a video on how to use color fillers please
Can we just add extra direct tones from special mixtones - like green, blue or violet?
Good question. Yes, but I find that because they’re so concentrated I’d suggest doing some tests first on hair swatches.
