    That's got to be tough to walk through there without Dale around. Richard and Dale were so close because they both were racers and knew what each other wanted in racing. I'm glad Richard was able to do this tour because I'm sure that there are moments where misses Dale. But I'm sure having those cars around helps with the healing process as Dale Earnhardt drove those cars and its like having him there.

    Great tour Richard!!! I’ve been to the original museum back in 94 when Dale was still alive. RCR had a open house, and EVERYONE that works there, was signing autographs, and I got almost ALL of them. I even got Richard’s wife Judy to autograph a picture. I waited 7 hours to get Dale’s autograph, and he gave me a thumbs up, and smile. Most everyone was getting racing memorabilia signed, but I had a copy of Realtree Magazine, with Dale on the cover. He harvested a trophy whitetail at the Sanctuary in Michigan. Bill Jordon signed the back cover next to a picture of his trophy, and said “tell Dale he better sign this, because I said so”. I think that’s why Dale had that big smile on his face, when I told him what Bill said, because next to racing, hunting was his passion. I really want to go to the new museum, especially after watching this video.

  • @nascarnational

    This has to be my favorite garage tour so far. This was really, a candid look at RCR in the past and also NASCAR as well, as both entities were virtually unrecognizable from their current forms today. I loved seeing these things in high-quality unseen anywhere else, even the classic Dale cars. They popped. The old shop looks just fantastic too. I really want to be able to see this place in-person. I'd be staring at everything for hours if I had the chance lmao

    Rod Osterlund sold his team to JD Stacy half-way through 1981. Dale Earnhardt didn't like his new owner and around the July Talladega weekend Earnhardt made an agreement to run the last 10 races for Childress. But when it was all over with, Childress wasn't ready for Earnhardt. 1982 and 1983, Ricky Rudd drove number 3 and eventually won in 1983. Earnhardt goes back to Childress in 1984 and from that point on, there was no stopping those guys.

    Cool random story. So I currently live in Welcome, NC, less than a mile from the RCR shops and museum. Way back when I was in third grade in 1997, my mom picked my sister and myself up from school one afternoon, and we just went kind of cruising around, we ended up driving down past the RCR shops for whatever reason. As we were turning around to head back out to the main road, a helicopter appears in the sky. It was flying really low, and looked like it might even be landing. We stopped to watch it land, which it did behind one of the shops, on the other side of a tall barb-wired fence. And guess who steps out of the back once it lands? None other than the Intimidator himself. It was unmistakably him. He just casually walked into the open garage door in back of the shop, and vanished inside. I begged my mom to take us inside the museum to try and see him, but she wouldn't do it.

      The one safe haven for fans everywhere because he left the number to his best friend and not the bitch who ruined his son and employee's numbers, thus allowing Childress to do it his way

    Maybe Mecum Auctions needs to go visit RCR before they authenticate some of the cars they’ve been sending across the block lol

    Can y'all do a video of Richard Childress telling the story of Dale Earnhardt Sr. buying all the merchandise from the shop and why he did it? I think that's something everyone should hear. Such a heart-warming story of the man, the myth, and the legend.

    The one thing left untouched from the wicked witch's tyranny, figuratively and literally (I'm amazed it was left exactly as it was 20 years ago), someday I'll find that museum and visit it as soon as this turbulent ride in the grass is over

      She will probably sue Childress for saying his name and having his name on the cars lol

      @S.K.R.E.Inc. 3 года назад +1

      Not exactly, because for starters, Childress was with Earnhardt longer than that bitch ever was, plus she would most likely lose because Dale left the number and his cars to Richard, meaning they're in good hands. Also, isn't it illegal to sue for such a petty reason as saying the name out loud?
