A quick little story. In through the 90's I lived on Brumley Road about 1 1/2 from DEI, in Mooresville NC. We had a barn fire and the fire department came to put it out, as is customary an Ambulance was dispatched as well. It was a beautiful black ambulance with very small letters at the bottom of the fender said "This vehicle and equipment donated by Dale Earnhardt. Thanks again Dale.
Neat story. Barn fires are no joke. Our neighbors in Wisconsin barn went up a month or so after haying season back in the 70s and even almost 4 miles away it peeled the paint off our house and set fire to their house and 2 othes near a mile away. They got out what animals they could even while getting burned themselves and til it burnt out all you could do was watch...from far away.. Dale ended up a fine man and a great racer and was my favorite. He left this world with more than he took and made a lot of people happy. RIP #3
I met Dale Sr 3 times in my life. First time was in 1998 at Atlanta motor speedway with my dad, down in the pits on the day of qualifying. He shook my hand and spoke to me for a couple minutes about why I liked racing. The second time was at the Atlanta auto show in 1999, and I suspect he recognized my father (6 '7 300+ pounds, pony tail and big handlebar mustache...he stands out in any crowd) because he hollered out to us to come over and say hi. The third time was a month before the Daytona 500 wreck that took his life. My cousin had somehow managed to meet Dale Jr and started dating him, and I got invited to go to a cookout at the Earnhardts hunting/fishing property. I won't pretend like we were friends, but somehow out of all the faces Sr ever saw and hands he shook and people he met...he managed to remember some scrawny little kid every time. At first I like Sr because my dad did, then I liked Sr because I thought he was a badass, then I loved Sr because he was a genuine guy and never tried to be anything he wasn't.
Man.. growing up in the 90s watching NASCAR was the best ever. Dale Earnhardt is my favorite driver of all time. The 90s was the magic decade for this sport. Super star drivers, amazing racing, venues jam packed with fans... just fantastic. I miss it.

I watched Kerry say he was given up for adoption and doesn’t like talking about those years his biological father wasn’t in the picture. Kelley and Dale Jr’s stories about how he wasn’t there for most of their childhood, because of him racing. Like their high school graduation, and the story of both of them being sent military school. Dale Sr was a very strict disciplinarian type father. He was a great racer, but a terrible father. Always know it alls on here for fuck sake. I admire the driver accomplishments of him, but the parent aspect of him, I despise.
To be fair dale tried to make up for his shortcomings as a father to his first 3 kids towards the end of his life. He jump started dale Jr career and had Kerry in a arca car in 2000 if dale doesn't die I think he would have made up for time
Elijah barber he definitely tried at the end. Even found his first son and reunited him with his half brother and half sisters. Kerry, Kelley, and Jr were all on a late model team in the mid-late 90s.
Rocket Man everyone makes sacerfices one way or another. who are you to judge what kind of father or family man he was? he was a father figure/hero/mentor to many more than just his blood kids.
My uncle worked closely with Dale as his personal cameraman in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. They definitely earned each other’s respect. At first, my uncle said Dale didn’t really want to waste time getting pictures and video and stuff like that that they had to do for NASCAR promos, but my uncle just told him, “This is my job. I have to do my job, just like you have to do yours.” Dale really warmed up to him after that and began to ask for my uncle whenever he needed a personal cameraman for interviews or other promo materials. It made my uncle so sad, and so many others around the world, when Dale ran his last race, but damn if he didn’t go out doing what he loved. Fantastic racer. It looks like nothing from the stands sometimes, but picturing yourself in one of those cars-the adrenaline rush must be insane. These guys put their lives on the line for the sport they love.
Amazing how a short video can bring a 52 year old man to tears. Always loved watching him drive, long before he was The Intimidator he was known as Ironhead. After my dad passed away when I was 12, Dale was the only hero I had left. We just don't have people like that anymore.
When he won Daytona finally and everyone lined up on pit road to show there respect to him such a moving sight still gives me chills it's a shame he's gone now jr gone
Unfortunately most of those teams and racers did not like Dale Earnhardt. When he won that Daytona 500 race they felt obligated to congratulate him. This is a fact. Sorry for bursting your bubble Kenny White.

One of my favorite Earnhardt moments was at Daytona and NASCAR was giving Dale hell about his front spoiler all week. Dale finally passed inspection but on the warm up laps of the race Dale mashed the front end of his his car all up in the rear of the car in front of him then got on the radio and said boys, I fixed the spoiler. Lol
Yea, he won a lot of races and was fearless. He also spun out many a driver “accidentally”. Rules let him get away with it. Many a gentleman driver won more races. To date, he has 38% of the Kings wins. Actually # 8 for wins. Rubbin is racing is part of what I used to enjoy, watching NASCAR. bumping to spin, not so much. Like all professional sports, NASCAR chased the money and ruined it. Owners choice, I get it but I don’t have to be a consumer.
This video is probably one of the BEST videos I have EVER watched! Especially the pit road scene after the race, with ALL THE RACE TEAMS GIVING Earnhardt a High-five! Shows the admiration and respect they had for the "man", the INTIMIDATOR!!
I stopped watching Nascar years ago...but when I did watch, I loved Dale so much. He's lives on a pedestal in mind with MJ, Brady and Bonds. Just a legend!
February 18, 2001 - The day NASCAR died in my opinion. NASCAR was never the same for me. As I was watching these clips I remembered all the things I liked about both NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.
It's not the same anymore late 90s early 2000s were the golden era of Nascar the driving, rules, and the personalities . I stopped watching after dale was gone and lots of Drivers got old and retired , But I got tickets to Dover race last year and started watching it again . I do like Martin Truex though he is a pretty good driver .
My favorite is still Talladega 2000. That run up the middle going from 19th to 1st in 5 laps is truly amazing. To be in fresh air and not in the draft is usually a one way road to the back of the field...... Those last 5 laps are the epitome of what Dale was all about.😎
Dale Earnhardt was everything to NASCAR. The way the fans all went crazy everytime he inevitably takes the lead and is the first person to cross that checkered flag. Simply amazing. The old timers were lucky to be there.
I loved and watched Dale Earnhardt since I was a baby. When they announce that he had died I cried like I had lost a member of my family. Truly loved watching him race. He certainly was one of a kind. Long Live The Intimidator! #3 ❤️
I was running a meeting at the time that they announced his death. someone came in and told me I have a phone call, that it was an emergency. They knew he was like a family member to me.
Dale made it look easy coming out of nowhere to win on super speed ways. When you start asking , how the HELL does he do that?! You are more than likely talking about a true legend.
Daytona all crews/team for Dale is a life of hard earn dreams completed! Man amongst the best of racing, of life in the Free World is Dale 03!!! He'll never be gone and Dale Jr such a fine man of strength, kindness, and love of family, fans, other drivers, and humor! What an American Gift to all!!!
I look at the stands of each of these races... FULL Dale WAS the sport of stock car racing and a piece of America that we loved. Not sure we will ever see that again. Miss him. (rusty fan) Nice to see this tribute #3!!!!
I've always had a close connection with nascar throughout my whole life, and especially dale, my grandpa was the biggest dale earnhardt fan I knew, he had everything from diecasts, to jackets, to signed pictures, he had it all, he loved earnhardt more than any racer, I had never been into nascar before he died, but once i started getting into it, I felt closer to him that i had ever before even though he was gone, and even though dale is gone too, dales racing and nascar is what keeps me connected to him.
I grew up thinking NASCAR was SO boring. But I do remember how much my parents loved Earnhardt, especially my dad, and how crushed they were when Earnhardt died. Now, over 2 decades later, I find myself revisiting his race highlights and thinking fondly of all the “boring” races I watched growing up and what it really meant to my parents. RIP! Do it for Dale!
I knew what was going to be number one when I started this, but when you love a person as much as everyone loves Dale Earnhardt, it doesn't matter you never get tired of watching him at his best.
when Earnhardt died, so did my love of racing. I still watch some races, but not every week like I did with Earnhardt racing. I rooted for Jr, but it wasn't the same. Probably a unpopular opinion but it is what it is. I loved Sr growing up.
I wish Dale Sr was still alive! It would’ve been amazing to see him win that 8th championship! And to see what all he would’ve continued to do for the sport off the track when he retired! God bless him! I look forward to when I get to meet him in heaven! He was my hero when I was a kid!
You watch this video. What is missing from today? The fans and Dale! Stands are not even half full in 2022. NASCAR isn’t and never will be the same without and Earnhardt!!!!
Every year when I was watching the Daytona 500. I would always say Dale Earnhardt Sr would win. Something would go wrong from flat tires to running out of gas to getting caught in an accident on the last lap. When he finally won the Daytona 500. I had said one nascar driver was going to win and that was Dale Earnhardt Sr. May he rest in piece.
The main reason that racing was so great during these times was the fact that the cars were not plastered to the track. Look how high off the track these cars sit. That allows air flow underneath the car and virtually eliminates the "aero racing" that you see today. These cars relied on horsepower for speed- not aerodynamics. This made for the incredible racing you saw during this era.
I was lucky enough to be there at Rockingham in 94' when he won the race and championship #7 that day. Awesome Awesome day and experience as a Dale Earnhardt fan. My favorite quote from him that day: "that's what you call an ass whippin". Still hard to watch a race almost 20 years later.
The day Dale died was the end of NASCAR for me. Checked in not too long ago and seems I haven’t missed much. This was an excellent video, thank you for posting.👍🏻
I'm proud to be able to say I was ornaments n 79 and by 88 I watched each race. That was my super hero then n I'm sure to many of us.. no dale Jr couldn't race like his dad, but his Ole man would be proud of him and the man he's become!! We miss ya dale #3d.Earnhardt fan for life
The thing I’ll always respect about the pass in the grass is that compared to everyone else, he was driving a complete pos. It didn’t even matter. You couldn’t move him if you tried.
I was just a fan, but to the teams and crews the 80's and 90's were legendary with Dale Sr. He is forever the man....scraped and beaten but he will not be denied! The announcers - Dr. Jerry Punch, Benny Parsons, Buddy Baker and Ned Jarrett - the best of the best!
#1 sums-up Dale's entire career, life & legacy. For those who didn't like him, who posted negative comments about him, or who had your own favorite driver...I respect that. Let me just say that there were so many "antics" that he was known for, even by the other drivers that he wrecked or "rattled", even they couldn't hate him. The bear hugs, headlocks, asking the other guy if he's still pi**ed off at him for what he did, to possibly the best ever reply after Ned Jarrett apologized to Dale for his being biased when Dale Jarrett beat him...Earnhardt's response: "Why apologize? Don't forget...I'm a Father, too"... What other sport can boast having someone like Dale Earnhardt? I didnt think so...
Rick Mast was interviewed by Dale Jr the other day, and he said after crashing him out of a North Wilkesboro race in 93 or 94, I don't really remember, Earnhardt showed up the next weekend, turned his back to him and told "go ahead and kick, I know you want too"
#4 Bristol. How the hell did he save that when he got back bumped and went squirrelly. That's why he was the best. I honestly don't think anyone else could have saved that. Holy smokes he was badass!

My dad and I cried when he slammed that wall. We both knew immediately he was no longer going to be with us! I’m going to miss the king of racing! Sure made nascar great to watch back then
Daytona 500 2001, with his team in front of him Dale knew what his job was, Protect his son and Mikey with everything he had, and he did just that. The intimidator put up a wall and he held off 38 cars by himself and the last thing this absolute legend saw was his son and Mikey with nothing but open track ahead to the finish One of the final things he said to his son on the radio was "Stay with him, stay with Mikey"
Being a born and raised west coast kid I’ve never really been into Nascar. Something about Dale tho,I tear up watching him race and knowing his story. Even if I’m too young to have even seen his races he’s a big inspiration for me and felt him hard when he said he’s happiest behind the wheel of a racecar. I know racing is my calling and I’m gonna make Dale proud someday. Been doin it for Dale
Number 3 on this list is the best driving you will ever see!! Amazing will to win. Bill obviously had a better car but dale was not going to let him around. Bill got into him 5 or 6 times sent him to grass and he never lost the lead. Amazing!!!
whoa !! that race from I think 1987... @ 12.00 minutes or so.... that brought back great memories, as I was going to NASCAR races back then, all the cars, and especially Tim Richmond as he ran real hard too !! Was born in ‘94 I remember the day of his accident I was in Charlotte at the time all my family got together and we went to his house was a sad day for sure he was nascar for me
My favorite Daytona 500 was when Dale finally won it. So sad he's gone now. I can only imagine how the racing world would be if he was still around. At least safety was improved after his death, so something good came of it.
My first time at a live race and it was Daytona the year Dale Ernhart took the 500. And when he got out of his car he and I were wearing the same red hat. Wow-what a race it was. Great memories of that day.
I was at the 1995 Brickyard race. That was my very first Nascar race that I went to and Dale won. I was sitting in the stands right across from his pits. What a race it was. Nascar just isn't the same without him. He was a true Legend.

But we need DW to talk with a draw and we need to hear how rubbin’ In racin’ Now a days it’s Hollywood with a roll cage
@@anthonyf.3009 Yes mother.
Definitely one of the greatest drivers in history. Born to race and died doing what he loved. What a life!
There will never be another Dale Earnhardt. RIP. Hes a legend
Amen
I loved and watched Dale Earnhardt since I was a baby. When they announce that he had died I cried like I had lost a member of my family. Truly loved watching him race. He certainly was one of a kind.
Long Live The Intimidator!
#3 ❤️
That is exactly my story too! 💓
I was running a meeting at the time that they announced his death. someone came in and told me I have a phone call, that it was an emergency. They knew he was like a family member to me.
I'm surprised his final win wasn't higher. He went from 18th to winning in 4 laps!!!
@Wade I agree. I'm not saying the Talladega one should've been #1 but it should've been higher than where it was. I'd put it at #2
Dale made it look easy coming out of nowhere to win on super speed ways. When you start asking , how the HELL does he do that?! You are more than likely talking about a true legend.
Him going off in grass and still hold the lead that's some driving.
It was actually only 3 laps it took him
Daytona all crews/team for Dale is a life of hard earn dreams completed! Man amongst the best of racing, of life in the Free World is Dale 03!!! He'll never be gone and Dale Jr such a fine man of strength, kindness, and love of family, fans, other drivers, and humor! What an American Gift to all!!!
"Just tryin' to rattle his cage". How many times did he pull that? he was the master...
Yes he was the best at rattling cages.
Bump draft master
He aint no saint but we know too damn well we love him
20 years of trying. 20 years of frustration is maybe the greatest announcing of all time
“Here Comes Earnhardt” Gives Me Chills every time I hear it
I look at the stands of each of these races...
Thanks for making me bawl my eyes out. The GOAT of NASCAR.
I know it's been years, but I still miss this bunch of wonderful guys!!
Unfortunately, NASCAR was never the same after he died.
Well, NASCAR was different between 2001 and 2006. But after we lost Benny Parsons in 2007, it all went downhill fast.
Amazing to see the full grandstands. This was when Nascar was good.......
got better when jj beat his stats
I knew what was going to be number one when I started this,
but when you love a person as much as everyone loves Dale Earnhardt, it doesn't matter you never get tired of watching him at his best.
when Earnhardt died, so did my love of racing.
You know you’re the man when everyone on pit road shows their respect. Seems like yesterday
You watch this video. What is missing from today? The fans and Dale! Stands are not even half full in 2022. NASCAR isn’t and never will be the same without and Earnhardt!!!!
His Daytona 500 win is one of the most memorable days of, not just Dale, and his family's life......BUT MINE TOO!!!
Hitting a seagull once
Pieces
In my opinion, he’s one of if not the most influential figure ever in the sport
There will be only one Intimidator. Earnhardt forever!
I'm proud to be able to say I was ornaments n 79 and by 88 I watched each race. That was my super hero then n I'm sure to many of us.. no dale Jr couldn't race like his dad, but his Ole man would be proud of him and the man he's become!! We miss ya dale #3d.Earnhardt fan for life
What a miserable day for Nascar , Dale was definitely one of the best, the scene still hurts to watch.. God keep Dale and his family...
I miss those Nascar days in the 80s and 90s!
There Wil never be a NASCAR driver like Dale Earnhardt he's is number 1
The thing I’ll always respect about the pass in the grass is that compared to everyone else, he was driving a complete pos. It didn’t even matter. You couldn’t move him if you tried.
I was just a fan, but to the teams and crews the 80's and 90's were legendary with Dale Sr. He is forever the man....scraped and beaten but he will not be denied! The announcers - Dr. Jerry Punch, Benny Parsons, Buddy Baker and Ned Jarrett - the best of the best!
20 years ago today..Rest In Peace Dale Sr!
Only Sr can come from 17th to 1st in 10 laps and have every single person at Talladega on their feet screaming. We miss ya Sr
Rick Mast was interviewed by Dale Jr the other day, and he said after crashing him out of a North Wilkesboro race in 93 or 94, I don't really remember, Earnhardt showed up the next weekend, turned his back to him and told "go ahead and kick, I know you want too"
My favorite Nascar driver the greatest of all time
#4 Bristol. How the hell did he save that when he got back bumped and went squirrelly. That's why he was the best. I honestly don't think anyone else could have saved that. Holy smokes he was badass!
Race In Paradise Dale Earnhardt, your an absolute legend
#3 he took a 15th place car and won with it, no driver can do that today, he made a career out of it.....
i think that Kyle Busch is the closest to Dale as far as taking a bad car and making a good day out of it.
@@chrisminton8563 kyle crybaby is not even 1% the driver or man Dale was
@@chrisminton8563 yeah your right that guy can take a RPM car and drive it to a win if he wanted and I'm gonna tell something most Dale fanboys won't admit, they both were whiny punks who loved to win, that's why we love them.
@@thekingmansplainer6813 kyle crybaby is nothing compared to Dale Sr the greatest all-time kyle is a no class crybaby prick with the maturity level of a 4yr old on a temper tantrum
joracer1 he could take a really good car make it look like junk and barely win with it other drivers could take a car that is out to lunch and win with it
Greatest driver in my lifetime. Watch the 2000 Wiston 500 at Talladega superspeedway. The 76th. Win amazing job. Hard to believe it's been 20 years . Dale was my favorite. Rest in peace Dale Earnhardt , The Intimidator!!!! Thank you for all the memories.
He worked his butt off to get to the place that both made him happy, and where he was happy was where he gave his life. He literally sacrificed everything, and therefore he is an all-time champion in life itself.
Happy Birthday to the best driver ever lived. I wish he was still alive
Dale is my favorite driver, he still drives, and wins, but we just can’t see it.
I still miss him alot
We all do miss him.
Not to take anything away from Richard Petty because he was great. But I think Earnhardt was the best. I still miss that man to this day.
I was never able to watch him race, but he would’ve been my favorite if I was alive for his time
It was a great time in nascar.
Same
Nick Piombo same
He was far better than overrated loser crybaby Kyle Busch
This is one man I wish I had the opportunity to shake his hand and get to see that smile he was the baddest man Driving 4 wheels he was the best and in my eyes he will always be the best
Raise hell, praise Dale. 🙌
Best there is,best there was,and best that ever will be.
I still remember the day he died. Mainly because before that race in an interview he said, " today y'all are gonna see something that you've never seen before."
Gives me chills still...
Long live the Intimidator RIP DALE
Hearing Buddy Baker call him “Ol Ironhead” during races >>>>>>
My dad and I cried when he slammed that wall. We both knew immediately he was no longer going to be with us! I’m going to miss the king of racing! Sure made nascar great to watch back then
Daytona 500 2001, with his team in front of him Dale knew what his job was, Protect his son and Mikey with everything he had, and he did just that. The intimidator put up a wall and he held off 38 cars by himself and the last thing this absolute legend saw was his son and Mikey with nothing but open track ahead to the finish
One of the final things he said to his son on the radio was "Stay with him, stay with Mikey"
He was a joy to watch. The greatest there ever was.
Dale Earnhardt was nascar... RIP the intimidator
Watching Dale in the 80 and 90 was something special to watch loved to watch him race
Forgot that Wrangler was Dale's sponsor back then, but seeing this video I immediately remembered it then, along with the areocoupe monte's
Dale Earnhardt is my childhood hero and a favorite.
Man this take me back to my childhood watching nascar with my dad, our favorite was always dale sr, my dad stopped watching the day he died, brings back a lot of happy memories watching this
The good ole days of NASCAR when there wasn’t 23 yellow flags in the last 2 laps.
That's because Danica Patrick wasnt racing then. Lol.
chickenjo23 ahhh...so true.
I'm beginning to think this yellow flag trend has trickled all the way down to dirt track racing
Miss these days. After he passed and the interdiction of Toyota Nascar went down hill. I haven't watched a race since 2005. That Daytona win was freakin awsome. Daytona eluded Dale for years. Loved how everybody lined up to congratulate him.
EVERY man on EVERY crew... my absolute favorite moment in sports.
I remember three that. Tears were running down my face. That is my favorite memory of Dale Earnhardt Sr. When he won the Daytona 500 th in 1999.
Mike Joys voice cracking,he's so emotional as was D.W. calling Mikeys win and Jrs.2nd.place on The Day.
D.W. knew it was serious but was so happy for Mikey, his little brotther.
I never watched another race sad to say.
Peace
I was watching the race Dale Earnhardt senior when he hit the wall 🧱
And close his life
I wish i was born around 1990.My dad is a huge Nascar fan, even if i get bored watching i do have my favorite drivers.I was 7 around the time Dale passed but i wish i could had watched him when i was a little bit older. He seems like a helluva fun guy to know and an amazing driver.I am however glad to go back and see the amazing stuff he has done
Was born in ‘94 I remember the day of his accident I was in Charlotte at the time all my family got together and we went to his house was a sad day for sure he was nascar for me
I'm a Gordon fan but loved Dale too. Racing will never be the same. They ARE FOREVER #3& #24❤️❤️
My favorite Daytona 500 was when Dale finally won it. So sad he's gone now. I can only imagine how the racing world would be if he was still around. At least safety was improved after his death, so something good came of it.

The best race I ever saw was Dale getting "Black Flagged" in Bristol with like 12 laps to to the finish and he finished in the top 10.
My first time at a live race and it was Daytona the year Dale Ernhart took the 500. And when he got out of his car he and I were wearing the same red hat. Wow-what a race it was. Great memories of that day.
Thats just how good he really was one of the greatest drivers ever
I was at the 1995 Brickyard race. That was my very first Nascar race that I went to and Dale won. I was sitting in the stands right across from his pits. What a race it was. Nascar just isn't the same without him. He was a true Legend.
